Oct 12, 2009I have absolutely no idea how to get starting on this one. I've got a long string in cell B1. At some point there is the word "oms:SomeString," (without the quotes). I need to know whether SomeString is somewhere in the active sheet or not (the workbook running the VBA-code is not the active sheet). I can't just compare the cell B1 because it contains multiple words. Any hints are very welcome.

anRow is the delimiter between to databases. And sgbygsag is the string i am searching for, i have made sure that this really is a string. No matter what I do this code sets Range("A1") to "0".
How To Find Exact Text String Match
Jun 16, 2014In the four rows of text below I'm trying to match each gas stick to its corresponding gasline.
I think I can count over to "GAS STICK" and get the number. <15> From that point I can count over to "," (comma) and get that number. <26> So the gas stick will be between the first number and one less than the second number. <GAS STICK 1>
I need completing this code to place a the line or stick number in a cell B of the same row. Column A would have the description and column B of the same row would either be "1" or "11" respectively. Column C would be the shortened description (GAS STICK 1).

I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight cells which have the same first 16 characters (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm) before the "@" AND that contains the words "CHANGE WORLD". Therefore, I'm looking for a formula I could include in the conditional formatting so I can easily find the "CHANGE WORLD" that occurred at the same time (minus the seconds, they may vary slightly).

Pulling Specific Data From Random String
Jan 15, 2010I have random comments in a column of cells of which I'm searching for a specific string of characters that may be contained in each cell. I want to pull 2 pieces of data from this specific string and place the data in 2 other cells in the same row.
Sample comments in cell 'N1':
..... blah, Appt: Friday; 12/4; night drop off. blah, blah....
Sample comments in cell 'N2' (and so on and so on):
.....blah, blah, Appt: Thurs; 12/3; 12:30PM. blah, ....
The specific string in the above examples will always begin with:
APPT:
Then the key elements found directly after the 'APPT:' are:
Thurs; 12/3; 12:30PM.
(which are the)
DAY; DATE; TIME.
These elements will be always separated by the semi-colon ';' and the string will always end with the period '.'
I need a pair of formulas to be in col 'J' & 'K' to extract the DATE and place it in column 'J' and the TIME and place in column 'K', both in each same rows.
So, from the 2 above samples I would need the following:
in Cells:
J1 - 12/4 ....... K1 - night drop off
J2 - 12/3 ....... K2 - 12:30PM

Aug 18, 2014I have a list of items in Column A and size info on Column B i want to being in the info to another sheet with a vlookup but the problem is that I have a lot of items with different colors so after the item no. it has a dash and a letter or two for the color so i want to bring into my new sheet all info.
I have in my old sheet for all items regardless of color so for instance in my old sheet i will BR1000-EM and then in my new sheet i will have BR1000-R and BR1000-SA and BR1000-YC how do i make a vlookup it should only lookup the values in both sheets only till the dash (i cant use a certain no. like left,6 because the item no can have more then 6 but it always has a dash when it has a color code) also not all items have dashes so the dash is not always there but when its there i would like that the lookup should stop by the dash.

Find Data In Specific Range
Dec 14, 2006I have a piece of code used to find a matching date in a column and then unhide that column. Code works because there was only one date on the sheet other than the one's I was trying to find. I now have to store additional dates in the sheet and this is disrupting the search as it stops (as it should upon finding a match). I would like to see if there was a way to modify it so that it will look for the match in specific columns i.e. Specifically the dates are located in AX1:IX1. Here is the code

I can't use the "" sign as delimiter to separate them into different columns because the age,city,name and height fields are in random positions on different cells.The good thing is person's name will always come after "name" string, age is alwals followed by "age" string, so it cannot be like nameheight40Michigan180
I think the following would be the easiest method(not for me tho).If on B1 I had a formula that said "find the string "name" and write anything after it until you reach the next "" character".On C1 field I could have a formula "find the string "age" and write anything after it until you reach the next "" character.On D1 I would have the same for "height" string,then on E1 for city string.

Apr 8, 2008- I copy some records from a Database into an Excel sheet in workbook (say W1) in the Worksheet WS1.
- The i look up for values in a column (say column B) of W1 in another worksheet in another workbook(say W2) .
- If i find a match in Workbook 2(W2) ,Worksheet 1 , Row 2, Column A ; i look at the values in the Column B, F,G on the Row 2 itself.
- Each of these values can be found in the corresponding Worksheets 2;3;4 in the Workbook2(W2) .
- Then i need to pick up all these values from worksheet 1;2;3;4 in W2 and contatenate them and put them in the Workbook W1 against the Row .
- Similarly i process all the non zero rows in the workbook W1.

Jan 5, 2010I have a large report that I pull each month listing which products we sold last month. There are certain products I don't want included in the report. Until I can have the report re-written, I'm looking for a macro or a function that will find all the rows that contain these product numbers in column M and delete the entire row. The product numbers I need to delete are always the same, but some months one or more of them might not be in the report if they weren't sold.

Jul 10, 2013I am trying to identify matches for company names I have in columns A and H.
I originally used =IF( $A3<>$H3,"No Match","Match")
The issue is that not all of the company names in column A contain "INC","LLC", "CORP", etc. So, I am not capturing all of the matches.
Example:
Column A: American Eagle Outfitters
Column H: American Eagle Outfitters INC
Is it possible to write a formula with the logic that IF A3 and H3 both contain "American Eagle Outfitter" then "Match" or "No Match"?

Feb 2, 2014I have 2 different sets of data: temperature data recorded at meteo-stations defined by latitude / longitude, and major world cities also defined by latitude / longitude.
After the user chooses the station's coordinates, temperature data is pulled out from the first data set; this works! However, I would like to be able to provide information about the closest city to the chosen meteo-station from the second data set.

VLookup To Pivot Table Using Match Function - Returns Error If Can't Find Match Value
Mar 11, 2014I am having some trouble getting a formula to work. I am building a report that pulls figures from a pivot table in another workbook. I am using a vlookup with match function to get the column index to find the relevant data I want. Where I need to add two columns together I am using sum, with the vlookup & match formulas nested in them e.g.:

Where:
F13 = Employee number
Column C on the pivot 156 workbook is where the employee number is based.
The Match formula is then getting the column index from the column headings of the pivot table ie. "FAID"
This in itself works fine, as long as it finds a match in the column headings. This is where i get the error as in the above function "COMD" is not in the pivot table. However I need to keep it included as it may appear on a future pivot table. Is there a way of getting the sum function to complete even though later in the formula it can't complete the vlookup? So it will ignore it, or assume the value is zero if it can't find it? The formula probably needs to do this for all the vlookups as some headings may drop off in future pivot tables.
