IF Text String Equals Certain Criteria Then Specified Calculation

I have 5 cells with drop down validation lists for the different types of window that we offer. From this list I will select the options and then input some dimensions in cell dimension fields. I then have a cell that gathers the text string from the 5 drop down cells.
My aim is to be able to calculate glass sizes from the text string and the dimensions. Each of the possible text strings will require different calculations and will define the sizes that I need to order. I know the equations that I will need for each of the options but cannot think of how to make them dependable on the text string cell.
I am looking for some way of using IF function to say if the text string returns as certain text then there is a certain calculation to calculate from the dimensions for the glass sizes that I need. I dont know if I've explained it too well nor even if its possible but if it is possible I will find a way as I have done some pretty exceiting things with excel in the past.

On my spreadsheet I have multiple rows and cells containing alphanumeric text (text is a combination of a person's name and goals scored) i.e. Holland1 appears in row 3 cell P3 then Holland3 appears in row 6 cell O6.
What I would like to be able to do is have a forumla that looks at every row and cell in my range and sum the numbers of the alphnumeric text if the cell contains a certain name i.e Holland.
I had tried to use the array formula =1*MID(A1,MATCH(TRUE,ISNUMBER(1*MID(A1,ROW($1:$26),1)),0),COUNT(1*MID(A1,ROW($1:$26),1))) which I found on the internet but this only works for one cell and doesn't allow for a set criteria to be met.

I'm trying to verify if a cellvalue is available in an array. Here is the code:
First I tried to check if the cellval is in the array by returning a -1, 0 or 1:

-> returns zero for value "h3", but also for value "3"
(where cellval the value in the cell is)
(with txt being the array containing "h3,r8,ty657", etc)
But I need only the If to be true when there is an exact match.

I have 2 columns ,A and B, in a table and text strings in C. Each table row A1 and B1 needs to be compared and matched with the text string C:C. Only if both, A1 and B1, are found in the same string, say C5, it has to return A1&B1. If not, return "Not Found".
Several Obsticles:
1. A and B are text and number
2. C is text with different numbers saved as text and words all mixed up
3. There is no defined format for the text, it is different in each string

I'm trying to restructure a list of files at work into a format that makes some sort of sense and can be filtered into useful information.
Part of what I need to do, is match up all the drawing numbers that a certain project references. The numbers are formatted like "####A##" ex. 1234A01,1234A02,5678A01, etc. The cells that I need to extract drawing numbers from contain some description or other text (not just the drawing number) so I need to extract the drawing number from that cells value. (Ex. I need to get the drawing number 1234A01 from a cell whose value is "blah blah 1234A01 blah blah blah")
I was thinking I could just search the string for "####A##" but I'm not really sure how....I tried instr, but I think its searching for the literal value of "####A##" rather than treating the # characters as wildcards...
I tried:

I'm racking my brains as to how I can structure a formula to conditionally rank a value in an array against only those values in the array whose corresponding criteria cell includes a specific letter.
So for example I have a list of 12 values, say 126; 239; 0; 171; 162; 157; 130; 199; 122; 153; 0; 15.
Each of those values corresponds to a heading, say: CDE; DFE; FGE; DFE; ERD; DEA; BDF; DFB; CDE; CEF; CAB; FAB. As you will note some of the headings may or may not be the same and may or may not include the same letters in different orders.
How can I write a formula that ranks in ascending order a given value drawn from the above list (which will be in another cell but which in this case is, let's say, the first value: 126) only against those values whose heading includes a specific character, for example the character C (the character in question will vary and be defined in a specific cell).
As an added complication I need the ranking calculation to exclude any zero values. So in the above example what the formula needs to do is rank the value 126 against a sub-set of the whole array comprising only the values 126; 122; 153; 0.
The answer I need is 2 because, discounting the zero value, 126 is the second highest value.

I have a 700 line spreadsheet and would like to delete the cell next to another cell if it contains a certain string. I.e if A1 to A3 equals "Test" then i would like to delete the contents of B1 to B3, But if A2 equals "Completed" then only B1 and B3 should be cleared.

in cell A1 the user will select from a drop down list 5.50, 11,22, 33, 55. in cell B1 user selects from the drop down list a number 1 - 9. now in cell c1 I wont it to do some calculation based on the selections.
If b1=3, then A1*.20, if B1=2, then A1*.30, If B1=1, then A1*.50 and if B1 is greater then 3, post 0, if B1 is empty, then leave c1 empty.

i have a data in excel
In cell B6 , I have an amount . and in Cell C6 I have inserted the date at which that amount has been kept . Now what i want is I want the Data from D6 To O6 to calculate as to how many Days that 100000.00 Rs or Dollar have been kept each month . Each month has its own Days like January has 31 Days . So i want each Days to appear accurately. Like for example if i insert the 4-8-2009 from January till August 4-8-2009 , how many days that amount has been kept each month .

I'm trying to calculate a price for any given mileage. The pricing strategy is as follows:
For any journey 2 miles or less, the price is £9
For any journey between 2 or 3 miles, the price is £10
For any journey above 3 miles, the price is £10 for the first 3 miles plus £2 for every additional mile.
So, for example, the price of a 1.5 mile journey is £9 and the price of a 3.5 mile journey is £11.

I have 2 worksheets with data. One of them is a bench mark template or expected times to complete devices based on batch size and product. The other worksheet is a report generated that shows the actual time techs worked on batches of equipment by product type. I am trying to automate a report that I will need to run every week. I have most of it automated but need some calculations. I want to calculated the expected time to complete the work, based on the data provided in the benchmark worksheet.
I do not want to use an average, and I want to use the expected time of completion based on batch size and product relative to the tech report. Column T is highlighted and where I want this formula to be entered. So if the Total Batch items is 1, then the expected calculation uses that time relative to the product and then multiplies that number to the batch size. Or if the batch size is 3, then it uses the time relative to a batch size of 3 and then multiplies that number by the batch size on the tech report and is entered in the highlighted column.

I have to write a calculation that sums a range of values. Times that sum by a given amount but only if the total of the original sum is greater than a specific criteria -

In the above example it calculates the total units sold of Product A, by Month, by 5.00.
In Column M, It totals the number of sales units and then also totals the number sales units by that given value 5.00. So 426.5 x 5 = 2132.50
I need a sum that only totals the value over a given criteria.
EG. Total 426.5
Criteria > 300 = 126.5
Sum would equal 126.5 * 5

Attempting to calculate assignment hours based on three fields -
A - Date
B - Txt
c- Txt
D - Time [Start]
E - Time [END]
F - Number [Off]
G - Number [Travel]
H- Number (Calculated Total Project Hours)
I HAVE THE CALCULATION WORKING WITH THIS FORMULA

My goal [If Activity is NOT NULL and Start Time is NULL] Time would Default to 8.0 - ELSE use the formula to calculate [ Some projects I don't have a set start/end - and default to 8.0 hrs.

I have a worksheet that contains investment security purchases, including purchase date, purchase amount and maturity date, each in its own row. I need to develop a formula that will sum the purchase amount based upon the term in days (maturity date - purchase date) of the investment. The respective rows do not contain the term in days so the formula will need to calculate the days to determine the aggregating criteria described below.
One cell should contain the aggregate security purchase amount whose term is 1-90 days and another cell should contain the aggregate security purchase amount whose term is over 90 days. It seems that SUMPRODUCT with a condition is the best way to handle this; however, I cannot get the correct syntax of this formula.

So I am having trouble figuring out how to do multiple text to equal multiple numbers. For instance right now I use =IF(E9="JOHN DOE","07", but I would like to have it where IF E9 = John Doe the cell shows 07, but IF the E9 = Sam Doe I want the cell to show 08, and the same IF E9 = Pat Doe the cell shows 09 and so on.
Meaning is there a way to have multiple functions go to a cell dependent on what is entered into E9 for example. I just want to have a number come out in one cell if a certain name is entered in a different cell. I loooked at this post [URL]....which got me started,

I am trying to make a calculation using variable text.
My outcome cell is D3 and my two variable cells are C3 and F3. In C3 I want to be able to insert a staff members name, of which we have 6 different members of staff. In F3 i need to insert the week number which runs 1 through 6. The outcome is the individuals place on the week roster which needs to be a number between 1-6 inclusive. SO basically if F3=1 & D3=J.SMITH then I need D3 to equal 1 keepng in mind that if F3 & D3 have 6 possible variables.

I would like to have a cell in which there is descriptive text and the results of a calculation. For example, in row 2, I want to state the current total number of items in inventory at the top of the sheet in the center of the used cells.
Inventory Total is: SUM(A4:A64,000) as of: Date()
I can't merge cells or manipulate the text in such a way to neatly bring the text and calculation together. And there are actually 2 calculations in the example above. One to SUM the items and one to add the date.

I have a set of task descriptions that I am attempting to trend on. Some of these (Column B) have the customer's name added to the description; others do not. I need to be able to make a list of task names (ColumnA), removing the name from the text string.
The formula I am using is [=LEFT(B3,FIND("for",B3)-2)].
The problem I am having is when the description does not contain the "for" built into the formula, I get "VALUE" error. What adjustment can I make to the formula to pull over the Description if the "for" does not appear in the text string?

I need to create a macro to do the following:
Search the activecell for a text string (a), and then either paste in text string (b) at the end of the cell if (a) is found, or text string (c) if (a) is not found.
For example, if the activecell has "AA/" in it, I want the cell to become "AA/01" (pasting in "01" at the end), and if the cell has just "AA" in it, I want it to still become "AA/01" (pasting "/01" at the end). The macro will be linked to a commandbutton.
