Formulas Appear By Themselves? (insert A New Row Of Data)
Jan 5, 2009
There 2 columns, 1 in which you input data and the other which has a formula which uses the data to do a calculation. There are about 30 rows already filled in.
When I go to insert a new row of data, the formula just appear after I type in the input column. If I click on the cell where the formula appeared before I typed in the data, there was no formula there. It is almost like an autofill, excel knows that I am going to copy down the formula. (It also copies down the formatting)
I've got a large excel spreadsheet that is used for cost calculations and I need to be able to replace the formulas in three specific columns with the value of 0.01. I also need to be able to change the values back to their original formula. My problem is getting the formula back into the cell. The formula begins with "=IF(And" which seems to be where I'm getting most of my errors. So right now I run the code and the value of the cells in the three columns change to 0.01 and when I run it again I'm getting errors. Here is the formula. How should I be entering this in VBA to get this line into my cells? The row numbers will be changing as I go down, but the rest of the formula does not. =IF(AND(E48<>"",AH48<>0),(AH48/E48)*100,0)
I have a workbook with a worksheet called Summary that has formulas that refer to other worksheets (say A, B, and C) in the same workbook.
What I want to do (with VBA because I have to do this many times) is copy this Summary worksheet into several other workbooks, all of which also have their corresponding worksheets A, B, and C.
I do *not* want the copied Summary worksheet's formulas to refer to the old workbook. If I copy the worksheet by hand, this is what happens.
Instead I want the copied worksheet's formulas to reference the worksheets of the workbook they are now in.
delete rows of a report which contains $- or zero value but not row with Beginning Balance. Data begins from Column B to Column E. Some records may need to be deleted completely from Account Number down to Subtotal rows plus one empty row, if the Subtotal amount is $- or zero. Below is the sample data and how the finished sheet should look like. The report will comes in thousand of line. I don't have knowledge in programing but believe it can be done through VBA.
Account Number
211-00-5936-00-001-3-00-2-00 Trans. Date Doc. No. Trans. Line Comment Actual Amount
[code]....
if Subtotal is $0, then delete the row starting from Account Number to Subtotal plus one empty row
211-00-5936-00-002-3-00-2-00 Trans. Date Doc. No. Trans. Line Comment Actual Amount
Macros that will insert formulas into cells, and I've been able to modify the macros to insert additional (simpler) formulas well enough on my own. But I can't seem to find the pattern of where to put the quotation marks! Here's the macro code that will enter my formula, including the formula (and the portion of code that the debugger highlights):
r.Offset(, 1).FormulaR1C1 = _ "=VLOOKUP(rc[-1]"",""'Blend List'""!""A2"":""E250"",5,FALSE)" And here's the code in it's entirety:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim r As Range If Intersect(Target, Columns("d")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub Application.EnableEvents = False ActiveSheet.Unprotect For Each r In Intersect(Target, Columns("d")) If r.Row 1 Then If Not IsEmpty(r.Value) Then...........
I need to paste the format and formulas of the last row of data into a new row beneath it. I've seen a bunch of different end row functions, but which one is best and how do I only paste the formulas and formatting?
I have a macro that searches a column for a date and then selects the appropriate date. The next step is to then copy the row and insert a new one below the copied one and paste only the formulas and none of the data. I have tried several iterations but all of the seem to paste the data too.
I have a simple command button in my worksheet that will insert a blank row and copy formatting, but not the formulas. How do I adjust the code so that the formulas are copied to the new blank row? This is currently what I have:
Private Sub CommandButton2_Click() Sheets("WAWF Track").Range("A9").Select ActiveCell.EntireRow.Insert Shift:=x1Down End Sub
I am creating a time sheet for a supplier & when the supplier enters a date into column A I would like a new line to be inserted below & include the formatting, formulas & data validation from the row above.
What I need is to insert a row at row 59 and autofill the formulas including drop down list from the above row. This is what I have so far (Thanks to Reafidy and shg).
Sub ChkDates() Dim c As Range Dim DelRng As Range Dim ArcRng As Range Dim i As Long Dim l As Integer Application. ScreenUpdating = False Worksheets("Report").Activate For i = 60 To 8 Step -1 Set c = Cells(i, 33) If IsDate(c) Then ..............
I'm trying to automate creating certain keyword combinations I need, based off of the values I input into reference cells in columns A - E; the goal is to compile a list of keywords which I will then use to track my rankings in search engines.
I'm looking to only output 500 keywords, so some of the cells in columns A, B, C & E will not contain data (column D will always have a primary Geo-target listed). This results in some of the concatenate formulas I've created outputting partial data (i.e. if there is no data in cell A10, and cell D2 contains the word "Knoxville", then cell I10 will output the data, "Knoxville "). How can I setup conditioning formatting or a formula so that these auto-generated cells appear blank if one of the reference cells has no data within it?The reason why I need the above to work is because I want to setup a formula that automatically counts the # of keyword combinations created by the data entered into any of the reference cells. With the partial combinations being listed, it skews my data. Which leads me to my next question: what is the best formula for counting the # of cells containing a full keyword combination from any of the cells listed in columns G - O (minus the data in the header cells; i.e. G1, H1, etc...)?Lastly, is there a formula I could use that would then aggregate all of the full keyword combinations within the "Complete Keyword List" column (column P)?
I am brand new and I don't know a ton about macros and programming in Excel.
What I'm trying to do here in this attached spreadsheet is at the end of inputting my line, I want to hit the tab (marked in red to make it clear where) button in the cell and have it automatically create another blank line but keep the formulas the same.
Basically I just want to avoid having to right click and insert line and then drag the formulas column by column down which is difficult.

An external data web query points to a web site that offers a foreign exchange rate calculator. In my browser, I selected the specific currency pair I need and used the resulting url in the web query. The "New Web Query" pane resolves the url correctly and allows me to select the table data I want (the little yellow arrow turns to a green check mark). However, when I hit "Import" and select the target cell, the only data returned is the parameters from the url and an error msg (This web query returned no data...). How do I get the query to pass the parameters to the website correctly?
I am using a lot of linked reports that have to be rewritten each month. For example smaller formulas look like this:
=('S:PUBLICProductionJob CardsMOLDING201311 November[440A SIDE SPOILER JOB CARD.xls]Production Parts'!B$228*2)+'S:PUBLICProductionJob CardsMOLDING201311 November[440A SIDE SPOILER JOB CARD.xls]Production Parts'!B$262+'S:PUBLICProductionJob CardsMOLDING201311 November[440A SIDE SPOILER JOB CARD.xls]Production Parts'!B$292
What I want to do is extract the file path from the above formula and make it a composite of several cell references.
So what I need is to have a cell where they can change the month and another where we can change the year. So I set up several named cells that look like this:
I've found a few macros that will automate changing cell references from absolute to relative and they work great. However, when I run the macros on formulas that have references to another worksheet or workbook, the macro will not work correctly.
I've been using a macro which uses a vlookup and a concatenate to create some text without issue for a while. I'm just trying to add some functionality to it and give the option of adding some text after the generated string. So I have this formula from the form:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim lookFor As Range Dim rng As Range Dim col As Integer Dim Found As Variant Dim add As long Set add = Me.add.Value
I am giving below a sample data wherein I am trying to copy only the formulas of A4 and A9 to B4 and B9, C4 to C9 etc. across columns. But I don't want to copy the data.

With a set of data in colums by quarter and department names in by row I need to answer build a formula that answers simple questions like "what department had the fewest sick days per quarter?" and which department had the most sick days per quarter?"
How do you lock a column of formulas so you can't change the format by cut and paste? Also, the same for data, locking data so it cannot be overwritten in Excel 2003 and 2007.
I am trying to have an entire line of data copied into another tab depending on the status of a claim. For instance, if the claim on Tab A has a column for its status and I enter approved, then the entire line is copied and added to the tab for all approved claims (Tab B). If I enter denied, I want it to go to a different tab (Tab C), and and if I enter pending, yet another tab (Tab D).
Basically i want to be able to look at Tab A and see a complete list of all claims but then be able to click to Tab B and see an list of all approved claims, and so on.
I have a spreadsheet with multiple formulas in several columns - my staff will be using this spreadsheet to enter data throughout the year so it will be constantly touched by several users. Some of the columns are hidden, but I worry about someone sorting something funky or deleting or adding a row. Any way to protect the columns I have formulas in while still allowing them to enter data in the rest of the spreadsheet?
i have a data entry tab where we put names and button to sort and hide blank rows from other tabs. Problem i want to move down the number entered also. something like extend sorting but not affecting the formula on the other columns.
I have a workbook which is used to merge new customers data into letters and then monitor the progress of the job through to closure. I have a worksheet (New Jobs) where new jobs are entered which acts as the db for the word document and have assigned a macro that appends all new jobs to the monitoring worksheet (WO Open). I have 10 cells in WO Open worksheet to the right of the new data that I need to populate with formulas.
i am trying to write a formula that calculates the difference between two cells, i.e. the buy price and sell price of a stock, to result in the profit/loss of the trade. However, the problem is, When "going long" i need to calculate b-a = c C:C=B:B-A:A
but when i go "short" i need the calculation to be a-b = c C:C=A:A-B:B
i am thinking that if i have a column, say d, indicating either "long" or "short", as a conditional argument, then this can determine which formula to apply to the calculation... e.g. please try to make sense of this...
if "d=long" then C:C=B:B-A:A, but if "d=short" then C:C=A:A-B:B
is this sort of calculation possible? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i have just finished reading a formula text book, but if the argument im creating isn't exactly shown word for word i am having trouble adapting the formula as needed.
I have a Excel Table that will be sorted/identified by the first column of every row. In the Table, there are numerous columns calculating values for each unique item across the row. This will be a large inventory table. The calculations will adjust based on a unit value of 1, and if the unit value is changed calculations go through the rows
I want to accomplish several things:
1) Pull data to another portion of the sheet based on, a) Selecting a unique item that comes from a drop down list based on unique item identifier in the table b) pull values related to the unique item and put in cells near the drop down list (I tried an =if function but did not have any luck =IF(G1=ZillaRac[Item Name],ZillaRac[MSRP],"MSRP Not Calculated") but it resulted in #value!
2) If possible by selecting my unique identifier, insert a unit multiplier that would go into the Excel Table and adjust the values calculated in the table to be brought back up to the cells in part 1.
