Keep Code Running When Message Prompt Shows
Mar 1, 2008
I have code to open another workbook and run a specific macro. I plan to then take that and copy it over to my workbook.
The problem I am encountering is when I run this macro, at the end of the code, a form/msg pops up stating it is complete. This then automatically stops my code from running (from my original workbook). How do I close this form in order to keep my code running?

I have created a macro, but running the macro will replace the data that are already in the cells. So what I would like to do is to have a pop-up window come up when clicking the macro button asking if you really would like to proceed

I am currently using the below to generate a message prompt. I have two questions that require assistance.
1. How can I furthur tweak it to show the value contains in the cell that correspond to the date?
For example in cell A2 contains date value; Cell B2 is the order number.
If the date in A2 matches today's date, the message prompt should carry Cell B2's value instead of B2 that is displayed as of below code.
2. Can I set the prompt date to be like 15 days after today's date?
Example: Today is 05/01. There will be a prompt if the date in cell A2 is 05/16.
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Dim r As Range, ff As String, msg As String
With Sheets("Test")
Set r = .Columns(1).Find(Date, , xlFormulas, xlWhole)
If Not r Is Nothing Then
ff = r.Address
Do
msg = msg & vbLf & r.Address(0, 0)
Set r = .Columns(1).FindNext(r)
Loop Until ff = r.Address
End If
End With
MsgBox IIf(Len(msg), "Matches Found:" & msg, "No match found")
End Sub

I am using VBA to create a weightloss calculator and everything is going fine ecept the Vbyesno boolean that will not allow me to delete the data that i want.
I used a macro to delete the information that i want to delete and i know it works because without the vbyesno, it works fine.
With the vbyes no, both yes and no do nothing when clicked and the yes no box just closes.
The macro code is stored in a private sub called "ClearAll"
My code is:
Private Sub Restart_Click()
Dim Response As Boolean
Response = MsgBox ("Are you sure",YbYesNo)
If Response = VbYes Then
Call ClearAll
End If
End Sub
What am i doing wrong?
I also want to make the no button the default, how do i do this in conjunction with the code above?

I am making a break timesheet. My UserForm contains Start and End Time button. User clicks start button, a message prompt will appear containing the time he needs to be back in taking his break. The start time of his break will be pasted on the worksheet.
After that, user needs to click the End button to paste the end time he returned. A message prompt will appear stating the remaining time of his break if he comes before the allotted break time say " You still have 00:15:00 left" click "Yes" to end break click "No" to continue your break." If the user click Yes, the time he click the button will be pasted on the worksheet.
Here is the code I have but I am receiving error message "Method 'Range of object_Global failed":

Is it possible to have a confirmation message box if you click a button to run a macro, eg "Are you sure you want to Insert a new row?" with "Yes" and "Cancel".
For purpose of this question my current macro is
Code:
Sub Button3_Click()
Rows(ActiveSheet.Shapes(Application.Caller).TopLeftCell.Row + 2).Insert Shift:=xlDown
End Sub

I'm trying to control the number of ways people can mess-up this worksheet. I have several buttons that copy one object from a worksheet "FISH PARTS" and paste them onto another "THE JUMPER FISHBONE"
My question is can I prevent people from copying objects from the first worksheet if they already exist on the second? Specific to the code below: how do I make sure "BONE_1" doesn't already exist on the worksheet "THE JUMPER FISHBONE" before allowing it to be copied from the other worksheet. And can I generate a message box that tells the user the object already exists on the page.

When clicking the button on my userform, it goes through a quite complex process of changing the views in several pivot tables that are linked to an "report" sheet, which has all the figures the user needs in a neat format.
Changing these pivot tables takes up to a minute, so I wanted a userform, called "frmwait", to pop when clicking the command button. It would say "Generating Your Report - Please Wait". At the same time, the initial userform, which is called "frmroutedashboard", would be hidden.
This does not happen - the "frmwait" userform shows, however the "frmroutedashboard" does not hide.
Is this because the code I composed uses the values on the "frmroutedashboard" to generate the view, and it cannot hide until the report is completed? If so, there must be a way around this. Anyone know how?
The initial code so far looks like this:
frmroutedashboard.hide
Application.Cursor = xlWait
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayStatusBar = True
Application.StatusBar = "Updating Route Dashboard..."
I thought if it looked like this, it would be sufficient. Unfortunately, the file is too large to attach, so I hope the code suffices.
frmroutedashboard.hide
frmwait.show
Application.Cursor = xlWait
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayStatusBar = True
Application.StatusBar = "Updating Route Dashboard..."

I am attempting to show a User Form during the forms Initialize code. I Load the form after extracting data from a SQL Server database. The code that Loads the form is returned to after the form closes. The problem is that when I run through the Initialize code where criteria decides whether the form is actually shown to the user. If the criteria is not met there are no issue, but if the criteria is met, then the form is opened and the rest of the Initialize code is not stepped through. As there are many If Then and a Select Case and a couple With...'s I need the rest of the Initialized code to be stepped through so after the form is closed by the user and the original code which Loaded the form is returned to I do not get an error.
Oh and the big problem is that I am not getting an error message during this, the Load code is actually repeated because when the original code is actually returned to is returned on the Load UserForm code.
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Dim i As Integer, Endofdata As Integer, wsheet3 As Worksheet, wbBook As Workbook
Dim wsSheet As Worksheet, c As Variant, gTotal As Long, Score As String, g3000 As Long
Dim gTotalAdd As Integer
On Error Goto ErrorHandler:
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
'cmbIDCountry.ColumnCount = 2
Set wbBook = ThisWorkbook
Set wsheet3 = wbBook.Worksheets("UpdateDetails")
Set wsSheet = wbBook.Worksheets("Data") ....................

I have created a workbook that mostly works with VBA codes. Within the code I have ensured that certain worksheets remain hidden. However, I have also written a macro to access what I called the ADMIN worksheet, which has several commands enabling updates and troubleshooting. Long story short, I would ideally like to prevent users from accessing that worksheet. I have already created a prompt (Msgbox) asking the user if he/she wishes to proceed with the macro but I would prefer being able to have a password prompt to run the macro.

when sending an email in code from Excel through Outlook, the following Microsoft Office Outlook dialog appears during code execution in Office releases since 2002:
A Program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf.
Do you want to allow this?
If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No".
Two buttons: [Yes] [No]
Question
Has anyone used or developed code that bypasses this prompt, and if so, would you please post an example of your code here. What I would like is a macro in VBA and / or API that you know from your own first-hand experience has worked for you, that emails an Excel attachment from Excel, using Outlook (not Outlook Express) as the email client, which bypasses the above prompt.....................

I have used the following Macro that deletes the Macro code. It then saves the file and quits excel.
*************************************
Sub removeAllCode()
Dim awi
Dim awcl As Integer
Dim count As Integer
Dim i As Integer 'loop counter
On Error Resume Next
count = ActiveWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents.count
For i = 1 To count
Set awi = ActiveWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents.Item(i)
awcl = awi.CodeModule.CountOfLines
awi.CodeModule.DeleteLines 1, awcl
Next i
Set awi = Nothing
ThisWorkbook.Save
Application.Quit
End Sub
*************************************
However when I open the Excel File, I still get the Macro Prompt. I have checked in Macro list as well as in VB Editor and no Macro code exists
If I have the file manually (or do a save as) and then reopen the file, I no longer get the Macro prompt.
I have tried various examples listed in different forums/sites but nothing works.

Is there a way to use cmd prompt via vba?
I would like to run "HOSTNAME" and have that displayed as msgbox text.
I am hoping its fairly simple and diverse so I can just change the cmd code to suit.
E.g.
Code:
private sub gethost()
dim host as long
host = (CMDRUN) "HOSTNAME"
msgbox "your host name is " & host
There must be a way so would like to see but I am struggling to get results on search engines.

I am dealing with several very large spreadsheets using VBA to do various things. I found that my code worked well, but was taking a long time to run. The biggest time consumer was my use of the AutoFilter features. I have since turned calculations to manual before my code runs and set it back to auto when my code is done running. What are the potential consequences of my turning calculations to manual and then back to auto?

Basically, in the "Thisworkbook" code , i have some code in the Workbook_BeforeClose section. Currently , it autosaves the workbook in a folder i have specified.
However, i need to add some code.I want to check that a certain cell has a value in it before the user closes the workbook, and if the cell is empty, show a messagebox asking him to enter a value.
I know how to get a messagebox to pop up, the only thing is once the user clicks the OK button,
i need the rest of the code execution to pause, allowing him to make the change then if he clicks the "X" (top right of the screen) to close the file or application, the filesave dialog appears and he can then save the document.
how to go about this because at the moment when user clicks ok, the messagebox just disappears and filesave dialog appears and he doesn't have a chance to edit the cell.

This is bizarre - over the last year or so, on two machines (one Win98SE/Off2K, the other Win2KSP4/Off2K3), very occasionally a change I've made to Excel/VBA code has been ignored (eg to add a MSGBOX call) - even after I've restarted Excel. The workaround is to add a blank line and remove it again in the actual code module, but its both annoying and intriguing,

I have a userform where I have 2 comboboxes. The first combobox shows the the first column (only 1 of each) and the second comboBox shows me the secondary list that correlates to the valuse in the first from column B. Now I have a text box that I am trying to get the value from column C depending on what I have in the first 2 comboboxes. What is the easiest way to do it? This is all in VB since it is a UserForm, and using Vlookup seems to be too many lines if I go that route. Is there a way to use Index and Match in VB where it would be more efficient? I attached just a sample of how the data would be layed out in the Excel sheet.

I'm running a macro that can take a while so I want to let the user know that the macro is running OK. I've put the following line in my code
MsgBox "Searching BOM's", vbInformation
The problem is that it requires the user to press OK before it runs the macro, then the box goes off and the macro runs. What I really want to do is display a box that doesn't require user input, and stays on the screen while the macro is running and goes off automatically when the macro is finished. When the macro is finished it will either show a page of search results, or another message box saying Not Found, which requires an OK response from the user.

I have written some code intended to automatically clear a cell when data appears in it from an external source. In one spreadsheet, it seems to work exactly as expected, ie when the cell is polulated, it immediately clears the contents. In another spreadsheet, with exactly the same code, it will not automatically clear. If I put it in debug mode and step through it line by line, then it does do as expected but otherwise it won't.

I have used a code to find the character "-" and replace it with nothing ("") from several named worksheets across my workbook, which OzGrid helped me with before, and it worked fine. Now I've added the code into my module (at the bottom) it doesn't work. The rest of the code works fine, and it doesn't come up with any errors when I run it, but it just seems to ignore the 'find and replace' part of it.
Sub split1()
Dim fromSheet As Object
Set fromSheet = Worksheets(1)
Dim fromRow As Integer
Dim toRow As Integer
Dim lastRow As Integer
Dim errCount As Integer
Dim thisSectionName As String
Dim i As Integer ' loop counter
Dim rng As Range 'found range
Dim emptyCellAbove As Range
Dim rng1 As Range
Dim arng1 As String 'Address of 1st hit rng1
Dim ws(7) As String
Dim ii As Integer '2ND LOOP COUNTER
