The subfolder names should not appear anywhere except in the path of the file name.
The file names have to be in the form of full path including file name with extension.

Also, would it at all be possible to hotlink each entry so that the user can double-click the name in the sheet and open the file?

In AutoCAD, I can create custom drop down menus that loads each time AutoCAD loads and i was wondering if excel have something similar. This menu would be added to the default menu list: "File_Edit_View_Insert_Format_Tools_Data...etc". I have searched online but i keep getting things about how to make drop down menus in cells but nothing about adding a main drop down menu.
What I want to do is create a menu with hyper links to all of the excel files we use quite often here at work.
I have already done this by just creating a sheet with a list of hyper links on it but would like to put it in a drop down menu instead if its possible.

Hyperlink To The CD Drive
Nov 20, 2009I use the Hyperlink to open PDF files that are on the CD drive from my spreadsheet. I am on Windows XP and the CD drive is the D drive. In Vista the CD drive is the E drive.
When I take the spreadsheet to a Vista machine the link fails as there is no D drive.
Is there any to code the path of the Hyperlink so it will go to th default CD drive for that computer.

The issue is that the folder used is coded in an excel spreadsheet (cell C7) in the below code and whether to look in sub-folders (cell C8 - True or False).

Dec 18, 2013I am attempting to create a user friendly spreadsheet and i am getting no where. i want to have someone populating a spreadsheet with data with a conclusion and final. at the end of the range if the outcome is below a set percentage they will click the hyperlink which will open outlook to a preset distribution list depending on the percentage. i have all this done but what i need is that when the email opens it copies the range of cells into the email so that all they have to do is click send. this seems simple enough to say but it appears that Ms has decided this is not possible.

2) Show the full folder path on a cell next row, no need to divide into several columns:

Jul 18, 2013Excel 2007 I have a spreadsheet of file boxes the keeps a log of boxes, contents, locations and shred dates. Currently figuring out when and which boxes can be shredded is a manual hunt, find, and then deal with it. I can use CF and Sorting but I have been looking at some search type functions to return a list meeting the requirements and trying to step my way towards that.
1st attempt. Was find out how many boxes meet the shred (before today) that have not already been detroyed. Column K is the Shred Date, D1 is Todays date, Column G is Status. Got this working good.

My failed attempt came at trying to find the earliest shred date excluding those that have been destroyed. This is not really neeed but I was hoping it would get me closer to creating the list of boxes that meet shred that have not already been destroyed.
Note: Column A is the Box No. and the spreadsheet contains blanks as we continue to add file boxes to storage.

Macro Will Not Work To Process Files Stored On Network Drive?
Aug 1, 2014I have a macro that works just find on my local machine. but it need to run from a network drive as several different people may need to access it.
A brief description of the macro.
The macro looks in an directory called unprocessed for any file named "*.csv" if the files are found it opens the file in excel and then copies data from that workbook to my workbook. after this the .csv file is closed (unchanged) and then it is moved to the processed directory.

Apr 2, 2009In my search I found several example similar to what I need, but nothing I could adapt to filt my needs, (at least not wim my limited skills).
Here what I need to do:
I have multilple Excel files in a directory. (M:/Archived PO Responses/Domestic). On a daily basis, these files are processed via VBA, and deleted after processing. What I need to do is, prior to processing and deleting these files, create an ongoing log of the filenames in that directory.
Example:
The macro would open an Excel file named "Processed Orders.xls", which is stored on the network drive "M:". It would then append all of the filenames in the directory mentioned above to a sheet named "Processed Orders" in that workbook, below any filenames that already exist.

Excel 2007 :: Saving Text In Given Cell To C Drive
Sep 13, 2012My set up win xp pro office 2007. Object is to save the text from a given cell to drive C naming the file with the value in another cell. E.g.
Contents of cell ("AA5") is a string and the content of ("D5") is a number
I have tried altering the code posted which i found on the forum, it works fine for the purpose as it was indented e.g. save the workbook and in my case saves it as the value in cell D5.
I guess I need to use some form of object to pass to the save as method but my knowledge of this is somewhat limited in addition as the is a possibility of either the cell being empty and the file name existing on the C drive, I need to disable the windows warnings and just go ahead and save it over writing what is on the C drive is of no importance as it will be the same data anyway, I can wrap the save in a "if Len ( AA5)= 0" to stop it trying to save if the cell if empty it the save the text string i am having problems with:

I have used both: paste special "values" and paste special "valuesandnumber formats". The code in the else statement produces the same result as the 2 step process above it.
