I am given a number say 155 and want to find out which range the number falls in. For example there are ranges like 142-151,152-161, and 162-171. I need a function that tells me my number 155 belongs to the labeled range 152-161.

I try to write the function that gets some "ref" and returns appropriate item.
For example: if I give to function "C3", it returns "AAA"
if I give to function "R18", it returns "BBB" (cause it between R15 to R26)
if I give to function "R9", it returns "BBB" also.

Conditional Format Cells Containing Numbers And Letters - Ignore Cells With Number Only

I have a column of numbers and want to make sure everything has been entered correctly from our scanning software. Basically, I want to automatically highlight any cell that has any letter in it (e.g. z12o2 instead of 21202 or R705 instead of 5705), ignoring any cells that contain only numbers. I haven't had any luck using conditions based on formulas like =ISTEXT.

Copy Data From Certain Cells Based On Value Lookup Job Number And Paste

The sheet I have attached has three tabs one is a master sheet another is the production input and the last is an engineering input section, I have coded the production input section to input into cells and email the engineers when they have a new job, the issue i have is with the engineering input.

The engineers can currently go into this sheet and input the job number onto the engineering input section and it will show them the current issue from the master sheet (I have already entered 1002 in it), what I want them to be able to do is input into the white sections below the description and when they click on update entry a macro takes the job number entered into B3 and saves the information onto the mastersheet in the correct column/row which corresponds to the job they are updating.

However the engineers may need to go into the same job several times and update different information therefore the fields need to not paste into the cells if the input sections are blank.

Holding Time Values

I wish to enter a number in cell D5 and have the entry time recorded in A5.
The code below does that, however, each time I add subsequent data, the original times update to the most recent entry.

I want each entry to remain static or fixed.

Scenario: On 01/03/2014, I bought A and hold it therefore holding days is 1. Then I sold it on 02/03.2014 so it became 0. Until 04/03/2014, I bought A back, therefore holding 1 day. 05th I didn't sell so I am still holding it, meaning holding days =2. Then on 06th, I sold A and buy B, resetting the holding days to 1 for a new item.

From the table above, how can I use vba to automate the last column?

Public Variables Not Holding The Value

I am trying to use a public variable but it is not holding the value when I call another sub.

Here is basically what I have:

Public AcctName as Long

Sub Statments()
There is much more code in here but it is not relevent
AcctName = an account name lets say "frank"

If X XX then
Call Title
End If

End Sub

It then goes to the title sub and executes the code however it is supposed to write out the value held in acctname but it comes up blank instead of as Frank which is the value it held when it left the statments sub. I am new to this public thing and need any help I can get.
Just a note: the spelling is correct and the variable does hold the correct value before title sub is called.

K so basically i have a cell where based on the above formulas it displays a number.

What i want it to do is only display a number if it matches one of the numbers in the 9 cells above it. so for example

Application.screenupdating Holding Between Procedures?

If I'm starting in Sub #1 and I have turned screenupdating off, then later in the procedure I call a function that also has screenupdating off (and also back on at the end of the function), will I get a slight flicker here? I'm noticing a slight one, and I can only imagine that it's where the screenupdating is being triggered again. (removing the updating from the function isn't an option, because another procedure calls the same function & needs it turned off)

I have a 52 (one for each week) page workbook. I am trying to average cell J9 for the entire 52 pages. However the information is not added to the cell until the end of the week so week 30-52 all have 0s and should not be counted in the dividing number. Is there a way to have Excel count the number of cells that have a number (not 0) and divide the sum of the cells but that number.

=(WK1!J9+.....WK52!J9) / (counted number of cells not = 0)

I have the following syntax in B1: "1,2,3,5,6". and I need VBA to take the very last number out of that list, and increase by four in single steps. For example: before the code: "1,2,3,5,6" and then after it "1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9." The code must be flexible, though, because it will be running within another Macro, and it must work whether the last number in the list is 1 digit ("...4,5,8"), 2 digit ("...34,35,36") or 3 digit ("...111, 113, 114"). Those three examples would be changed into "...4,5,8, 9, 10, 11" "...34,35,36, 37, 38, 39" "...111, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117".

I'm trying to use the formula vlookup, but running into trouble. I'd like to use =VLOOKUP(3000&A1,E:F,2,0) but this isn't working correctly because it doesn't recognize "3000&A1" as a number? I am having trouble getting the lookup functions to work with some mixed data containing text and numbers.

I have a 16 digit part number from which I am extracting the ninth character with the MID function. This character may be a number or a letter. I have a lookup table to determine what the description for each number or letter means. For example:

1 Apple
2 Banana
3 Peach
A Grape
B Cherry

If the MID value is 3 I want to return "Peach", B would return "Cherry", etc... The VLOOKUP function I am using works fine if the character returned from the MID function is a letter but gives #N/A if it is a number. The lookup table is sorted properly.

I 'm not sure why my custom function "minimize" is not working... I tried to do this with one of excels built in functions and would prefer a solution that way, but had to go the VBA route in the mean time. x and theta are paired together and I'm trying to reduce a select number of values x by their corresponding ratio.s It's corresponding ratio is determined by what degree value theta corresponds to. I wanted to do an if statement, but got confused...

The solution below to look up numbers in an array formatted as 10 characters as text.
=VLOOKUP(TEXT(A1,"0000000000"),LOOKUPTABLE,2,FALSE)

This has worked well except now I have received the data and the text I want to lookup has been reformatted (previously leading zeros) to the number with trailing spaces, still a total of 10 characters but the above formula no longer works. Is there an easier workaround other than using "Find" to locate the position of the first space.

Find Lookup Sequence Of Numbers In Rows

Basically I'm trying to look up a series of numbers against a separate row of numbers and look for a match regardless or number order.

For example

If you look at the above picture I'm trying to do a query of some sort that will look up the numbers in A8:G8 in then search each row in the above table ie look for the numbers in B1:J1, B2:J2,B3:J3 etc I need to be able to search each row and look for the sequence of numbers regardless of order, if there is or inst a match for all numbers it should look at the next row and so on (maybe multiple matches). If there is a match then it should display the Name located in column "A" into cell G8. In this example to Jarrad row contains the numbers located in A8:G8. If there is no match it should display "None".

I'm trying to find any easy way to do this as I have over 500 rows I'm trying to query. The number's in A8:G8 in this example could also be more or less, ie here I have included 6 numbers but this could be 3 or 9 etc.

I'm going to be using a spreadsheet to keep track of where different people are at. So if Person 1 is in Room 3, I will stick a 3 in the box next to their name and then can look at the spreadsheet whenever I need and see what room they are in. When I'm deciding what room to put a person in, though, I need to be able to quickly glance at a list of Room #'s and see what one's are still available. So I have a bank of Room #'s in the spreadsheet....1,2,3, etc.

What I'd like, is some way to set this up so that when I put, for example, "3" in the cell next to "Person 1" the spreadsheet automatically removes "3" from the bank of available Room #'s and when I delete the "3" because the person has left, it adds "3" back to the bank of available Rooms.

In another sheet(Location) I have a in column A "Shift #", B "Shift Bus #" C "Location". what I am attempting to do is when a bus number is entered into Shed! ie.. b3=900, d15=350 etc.... Lookup Second Highest Number

I have a table of information which is sorted in ascending order. I have created a vlookup to find the highest value as close to 1 as possible.

Say it returns the value 0.95.

i now have another cell which i need to find the second highest value from the column of data.

however i dont know how to do it. because the second vlookup function just returns the 0.95 all the time and not the second highest value..

E.G.

Column A
0.70
0.75
0.81
0.84
0.87
0.90
0.95

So in the cell with the first Vlookup i get the value 0.95 returned.

I need then for the second cell to return the next highest value in this case 0.90.

Then third cell third highest

fourth cell fourth highest value etc.
