Split Range Of Numbers From One Cell Into Column Of Multiple Cells All With Individual Numbers
Mar 5, 2012
I have a mass of data which look something like this:
table removed
and I require the ranges of reference numbers to be listed in a column one above the other, which requires inserting new rows. I also need the date & description columns copied down into the newly inserted rows.
So basically for example I would want the top row to now read:
table removed
and then apply the same procedure to the other ranges below this.
At work, we've got a program that outputs the results of a search into an Excel file, in column 1 below.
17,43,61,63 17 43 61 63
23,29,53,57,77,79 23 29 53 57 77 79
17,29,63,69,71,75,79 17 29 63 69 71 75 79
11,43 11 43
57 57
I need to get that list of numbers listed out to the right, with one number per cell. The list in column one could possibly contain from 1 to 20 numbers, and the last number is always without the comma after it.
I'm going to be using a spreadsheet to keep track of where different people are at. So if Person 1 is in Room 3, I will stick a 3 in the box next to their name and then can look at the spreadsheet whenever I need and see what room they are in. When I'm deciding what room to put a person in, though, I need to be able to quickly glance at a list of Room #'s and see what one's are still available. So I have a bank of Room #'s in the spreadsheet....1,2,3, etc.
What I'd like, is some way to set this up so that when I put, for example, "3" in the cell next to "Person 1" the spreadsheet automatically removes "3" from the bank of available Room #'s and when I delete the "3" because the person has left, it adds "3" back to the bank of available Rooms.
I have an issue with being able to process my data i have a text file in notepad that lists a massive amount of values (enough for excel to process if they are listed down a column but not across a row) each separated by a space. As an example here is a small portion of the data.
I know how to import this as text but i can only wither get it all in one cell or across the 1st row. The first row can only display about 16000 values and that isn't enough for my end product to be accurate enough.
So is there any way to import the text file and have it formatted so a each new value has its own row? For example... 81768102 191193210 386225426 110858190 393958997 21773704
Or is there anyway to get the data from my already imported giant A1 cell into the above format?
Added an example of how it looks and how i want it to look. This is how it looks when i open the txt file containing my data in a way that all values stay in the excel sheet. As well as this there is an example of how i want it or rather need it to look.
I have a list of user names and UIDs, all in one column. I'd like to split the numbers into a separate column. How can I do this? Here's an example:
A'Aross Hd 798027047
A'Yolanda Gallegos 100004367799914
Aaiky Sweet 100000984883871
Aarchie Alin 100000295447271
Aasusana Azanza 100000086329219
Ab Raf 100000223369007
Abigail Cadenas 100003769100097
Abigail Gopaul 100002988007633
Abod Rezk 100002010187332
Btw, I'm an Excel newb and don't know a lot. I did try Data/Text to Columns with a delimiter of spaces, but there's really no rhythm with the spaces so it splits it all whacky.
I have a column in one of my spreadsheets that I would like to split. There's currently not anything that can be used as a delimiter, nor can I use fixed width. the cells in question start with numbers and end with letters.
1.0 Develop Vision and Strategy 1.1 Define the business concept and long-term vision 1.1.1 Assess the external environment 1.1.1.1 Analyze and evaluate competition 1.1.1.2 Identify economic trends 1.1.1.3 Identify political and regulatory issues 1.1.1.4 Assess new technology innovations 1.1.1.5 Analyze demographics .... etc
I need to split this into two columns column A should contain 1.0 and column B should contain Develop Vision and Strategy . Ex: 1.1.1.2 Identify economic trends in column A then column B - 1.1.1.2 column C - Identify economic trends.
Because I have about 50 columns, I don't want to use Text to Columns. Is there a formula or macro I could use? It doesn't have to be as clean like I layed it out (in regards to the column title) but I just to really separate the two numbers into two cells.
I have to take a range of phone numbers that I have to port from another carrier and manually type them out or copy into another speadsheet, removing duplicate numbers. For example, I have the following numbers:
I have a set of data in once cell and its strung out. I'm trying to pull the numbers that follow certain words from that data. That's easy enough with the find and mid function for the first one. But after that I have a repeating word (see below) and different numbers that follow it. So I want to pull the second number string after that word, the third and so on.
I've attached an excel file that explains this better.
the last 4 caracters are numbers. I need to test these numbers and sum the corresponding values them in a single cell without adding new column(SUMIF like).
so in the above example I need to sum all ending at 1244 or 1519, therefore the sum showed in the single cell equals 225
to extract from a single cell: =VALUE(RIGHT(D8;4))
I tried to use an array formula but it seems to crash if a blank cell is in the array
I need a formula that will place the numbers in cell A into the cells in B C and D. The formula cannot be an array because for some reason my mac is very stubborn about arrays and I can't do them. If possible I would like each individual number to appear no more than once. That's why 4 and 3 only appear once.
It would also be nice if you could order them from smallest to greatest but if you can only do that with arrays then I suppose I can just get the same result with more clicks of the button.
I have a column with rows from 41:254, the first cell contains a word, and the next is blank, and this repeats the whole way down.
a previous macro i run changes one of the cells in the range (one of the ones containing a word) to a number value, i want to write a further macro to select this cell that has now changed. when it changes it will be the only cell in the range with a number in.
I have a table with 4 columns where in column 3 I have part numbers and in column 4 I have the number sold. In column 3, the part sold can be listed several times with a different number sold in the column 3. What I need is code to go through the part numbers and return a total number sold for that part in a new column. I have sorted the table by part number, then by Column 1 which is for the date. The new total should go in the last column with the oldest date for that part.
I am trying to divide a table of data (7 Columns, 500-1000'ish rows) into individual worksheets based on any unique values in column. There may be anywhere from 10-30 instances of the same value in Column C, and I need to bring all rows of each unique instance into a newly created worksheet to be labelled the same as the value in Column C.
The RAW data will be updated monthly by keeping a template file copying and pasting data, therefore I am hoping to have a "SORT" button with this Macro assigned to it. I have quickly thrown together a sample workbook with how the RAW DATA will be pasted into the file, with additional sheets showing how I would like the data split and organised.
Part I... I got the answer 1987, and now I want Excel to take the numbers out and display... 1 in one box then i set + in the next, then 9 in the 3ed. box, next box +, then 8, then +, then 7 in the last so that i can have Excel make a SUM of it all to 25.
How do I split 1987 and put the numbers in different boxes?
Part II... I want to make A=1 B=2... all the way up to 9, then start over again with J=1 K=2... up to 9 again and then over again.
So that if I write my name it comes out as a value of 14 (Odd = O=6 D=4 D=4 =14)
(AJSØ=1 BKTÅ=2 CLU=3 DMV=4 ENW=5 FOX=6 GPY=7 HQZ=8 IRÆ=9, It's the Norwegian alphabet, that's why there are some extra letters)
So how do I set up my Excel so that is ANY name is typed in I can get it out into a number from the values assign?
Say column A has either numbers or text in each cell, I need a macro to only get each number in each cell that is not a duplicate of a number in any previous cell and list each number found down column B.
I have a column of variances, these contain both negative numbers and positive numbers. I want to gather a sum of all the negative numbers and positive numbers separtely. Basically saying all the positive overeages = this amount And all the negative shortages = this amount. you can see the attached sample.
Is it possible to delete a column of numbers then replace those numbers from adjacent columns and the adjacent columns are then filled with the numbers adjacent to them
I'm working on a spreadsheet with about 400 rows and 10 columns. All the numbers in the columns are formatted as text, which doesn't allow me to use AutoSum. I have selected the cells and formatted them as number with no decimals, but AutoSum still doesn't work because the formatting hasn't changed and they're still formatted as text. I know if I double click each cell, the cell changes the format from text to number, but that will take a lot of time to change 400 cells in each of the 10 columns. What can I do to quickly reformat the cells from text to number?
I have taken over this spreadsheet for my work, and it is basically a statement in excel. What I want to do is find a list of invoice numbers in column B populated from a remittance, and then replace column F to say a specific thing depending on check number and date paying for that invoice. So if a check printed today I would have it replace column f to say paid 1/31/13 check # xxxxx. Currently I am searching for each invoice indivudually and then replacing with check number and date. There are about 200 invoices per month that I deal with, and it is a big waste of time!
