I found code on this site after searching a long time that has worked well in a larger macro I'm writing for use in Excel 2003 usage. However, I'm stumped on how to achieve the following on the attached sample: find and remove the number in A2 from the list in E2 then count the individual numbers seperated by commas in E2 and post the results in G2 Repeat the same sequence for C2, D2 and F2
I have several worksheets (Labeled Sheet1,Sheet2,sheet3) What I need to do is to step through each row in sheet3, and do a search in sheet1, it the data was found, then return the row number. I then will need to copy data from sheet1 (rowfound columnA , through rowfound CoulmnBd to sheet3 current working row columnK
In my spreadsheet, on the first worksheet called "Working". Column A, called "Results", contains carrot ^ delineated string values in each cell (i.e."john^apple^pear^banana^grape^love^heart^pickle"). The majority of string values in every cell in my "Results" column match a "source" column of Pick-List Values, called "Fruits" in the same spreadsheet, however found in a different worksheet called "Lists" (also in Column A). I want to perform 3 functions against my "Results" Column on worksheet "Working":
1.) Report In Column B: Analyze column "Results" by cell and return carrot delineated string values for only those that match my "Fruits" Pick-List
2.) Report In Column C: Analyze column "Results" by cell and return carrot delineated string values for only those do not match my "Fruits" Pick-List
3.) Report In Column D: Identify and return all unique values in "Column C" as a List.
Attached is a simple example of what I'm trying to accomplish called " Sorting.xls"
i have one work sheet. Column A contains 800 names bolumn B contains 15,000 names. I need to compare column A to column B then if the name exists displat the names in a seperate column.
I have two columns of card numbers (16 digits) in text format, as column A and column B. In column C, I'm trying to figure out how to compare column A and B for matches, and display the match in column C, if there is a hit.
I have a column of numbers and want to make sure everything has been entered correctly from our scanning software. Basically, I want to automatically highlight any cell that has any letter in it (e.g. z12o2 instead of 21202 or R705 instead of 5705), ignoring any cells that contain only numbers. I haven't had any luck using conditions based on formulas like =ISTEXT.
I'm trying to create a completion statement on where I will add up the money my client has sent to me and also add up the money I need to pay out in order for them to complete their transaction. The end result I want is I would like to display whether my client has given me to much money and I need to repay them. Or if they haven't given me enough then I need to invoice them. I need excel to display for me after all the figures have been added and subtracted if the end figure is negative then display in D19 (balanced owed to you). If the end figure is positive (Balance required from you) display in D20.
I have a multi listbox which contains certain values from a column, how do I get the row numbers of every cell that matches a highlighted value in the listbox? There can be multiple instances of a value in the listbox within the column and I need all the row numbers.
I have two columns of cells that need to be reformatted: B and C. In the B column excel is reading the cells as time (0:41:55.0), I need it to display those cells as a number like this: 00 41 55.0. In column C the cells look like this: 41 : 09 : 47.3. I need the C column cells to look just like the formatted B column cells (41 09 47.3) Also, even though they have the spaces, the numbers should be read by excel as one whole number (i.e. 41 09 47.3 would be used in a calculation as 410947.3)
I am given a number say 155 and want to find out which range the number falls in. For example there are ranges like 142-151,152-161, and 162-171. I need a function that tells me my number 155 belongs to the labeled range 152-161.
Doing some job costing on our lowes invoice and am using SUMIF and asterisks to account for all the different names that get used for properties by the cashiers. An example of that range column is:
67TH AVE 19112 PONCA
51ST STERLING
9420 67 ST 1503 SW 13TH
51ST 10818
19112 PONCA 19112 PONKA
I have formatted this whole column as text and get strange results from sumif when there are exact matches. For example the "10818" string is uniform through the spreadsheet and returns a result of 0.00 if entered as "*10818*" for criteria but returns the correct amount if I use "10818" or 10818 with no quotes.
It seems to be related to the text strings that contain just "numbers" as I'm having no trouble picking up exact matches when there are alpha characters.
I have a 52 (one for each week) page workbook. I am trying to average cell J9 for the entire 52 pages. However the information is not added to the cell until the end of the week so week 30-52 all have 0s and should not be counted in the dividing number. Is there a way to have Excel count the number of cells that have a number (not 0) and divide the sum of the cells but that number.
=(WK1!J9+.....WK52!J9) / (counted number of cells not = 0)
I am using a userform to pull some data from a form that many different workers fill out. I have a button on the userform that automatically saves certain cell values in the form to a different workbook when they hit this button (they hit it every time after they are done filling it out)....The problem is that if they need to go back and make changes to the form they originally created, the workbook that has all the data will now have two entries for the same form number (when they hit the button it also saves the workbook as NCR####) but I only want the most recent one..
So what I need to make it so that if two numbers in column C (C2 and on) of workbook "NCR_Data.xls" match that this macro deletes the one furthest from the top (my code places newest entries at the top, in row 2).
I have a produced an Excel workbook which uses a VBA sign in/out userform. Once you sign in on the Userform the sheets update. A list is completed of the times people enter and leave.
To make the code easier I currently have the name being returned to the excel sheet and performing a “match” function to return the row number. This row number is then used to carry out what I need to happen in this row. However, as you can see from attached doc (and the brief example below), based on IDnumber "2", the match function returns row 5 not row 8. I need to have the row number returned for the IDnumber where the Out cell is blank. This should be the last occurrance of the IDnumber
After looking at other similar post titles I could not find a formula to work exactly proper.
I have attatched a sample of my problem. What I need is for cells E4:J4 to look for a match in cells B4:B16 and give a value of " Yes or No " in cell K4 if a match is found. Then copy down formula through E5:J5 to B4:B16 - E9:J9 to B4:B16. As my examples indicate Cells K4 would = yes, K5 = yes, K6 = yes, K7 = no, K8 = no, K9 = yes. Column D is the results, Columns E-J represents all combinations of column D.
I have tried the following formulas but they did not work entirely correct.
I was given this new task this year. Normally this process is done by hand, by one of the managers, but since it now belongs to me, I look at it as being a little to tedious to do. So I would rather have excel do it for me.
We have about 5 CSRs who handle clients based on the first letter in the clients name. I guess to make this easier to update in the future if the macro would respond to a cell reference for the number of CSRs that would be great. I will need to perform this task Annually, and of course each time a CSR leaves or we hire another one. This way work loads are kept close to the same.
I have a list of letters in column A. Each of these letters has a corresponding number of clients in column B. I have been given the task to try to split these values equally between the 5 individuals. I know that since the numbers don’t all add up and divide equally it can’t be done easily by hand.
I have attached an excel file with what I have in the sheet. Sheet 2 shows what I would like to have as an example as output on the same sheet. (What I put on the sheet is an example of the way I want it to look, are not close to adding up to a "close to equal" total.)
I have the following syntax in B1: "1,2,3,5,6". and I need VBA to take the very last number out of that list, and increase by four in single steps. For example: before the code: "1,2,3,5,6" and then after it "1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9." The code must be flexible, though, because it will be running within another Macro, and it must work whether the last number in the list is 1 digit ("...4,5,8"), 2 digit ("...34,35,36") or 3 digit ("...111, 113, 114"). Those three examples would be changed into "...4,5,8, 9, 10, 11" "...34,35,36, 37, 38, 39" "...111, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117".
I have two worksheets. First one is TchNfo. Next is WrkMnShp. TchNfo has a range from A2:A93 with info in columns A,B,C,D, & E.
Is there a macro that I can run where if I enter a number in WrkMnShp column A, the entire row that matches the number in TchNfo is copied to WrkMnShp?
Column A = numerical IDs, multiple entries, may have duplicates that should only be counted once in comparison
Column B = numerical IDs, multiple entries, may have duplicates that should only be counted once in comparison
Need: 1 cell that compares all of the A range to all of the B range and returns a a percentage of repeats. So, if there are 50 entries in A, and only 40 are unique, and B includes 10 repeats (unique, not multiple), then the returned value would be 25%.
I am trying to find a formula that populates a room number based on the number of hours used. I have a chart that is by building but multiple rooms within each.
Where I am having trouble is when there are more than one room with the same number of hours used then sometimes the formula populates the wrong room number.
Attached is my example spreadsheet of my chart. Book1.xlsx
I have shown what I need, what I have tried and a blank space to show where I need it to go.
I received a request from a coworker regarding custom formatting some numbers in his spreadsheet. Those numbers are serial numbers of 20 characters long. Sometimes in my files I use this custom number formatting ###0 and its enough for the data I handle. But when I tried to use it in his spreadsheet, the following shows:
8456891070060510000
The cell must look like this: 08456891070060510302
The reason to have it like this is due to a Delivery Program requirement to deliver Set-top Units for repair. The Delivery Program do not recognize other format than the above. My coworker takes the data from a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet needs a custom number format to display the correct number.
find a custom number format to be able to display as my coworker need it??
I am trying to find a formula for the output cell. Suppose the designated cell = 7 due to formulas above it. So that number is always given but can change. I then need a formula for the ouput cell that says if the designated cell is greater than or equal to 1, and less than 10, then the output cell should equal .034. So suppose the designated cell = 18.2. Then I would want the output cell to be .072 since it is greater than or equal to 15, and less than 25. The template I am using has 23 rows of numbers like above. I didn't know how to do it for 23 rows though. If/Then doesn't work because it is 23 statements long (well over the seven limit) and the vlookup only works when the cell is equal to a number and not a range.
I have posted in a existing thread at mrexcel as i believe my problem and possible solution is very similar to that already detailed there. However i have not recieved a response there yet and was looking to draw upon more minds here ...
