Place Excel Workbooks Into Network Folder

Dec 12, 2012

I want to ask about the network folder. The current systems that i develop contains about 15 excel workbooks and every workbooks link with each other. If i place all the workbooks into the network folder, does all the formula, link and vba will be changed to network too?

Such as the formula: ='G:systems[workA.xlsm]A1.

Does it will change the path of the formula? or i have to change all the formula, hyperlink and vba manually? second, how should i place the workbooks in network folder in a right way? do i need to change any setting at excel file?

Pull Data From Csv Files Added Into Network Folder?

Jul 14, 2014

Scenario; I have 3rd party software that pulls reports in .csv files. I want to summarise this data into another spread sheet. Ideally I would like to save these files into a folder on the network and my summary workbook simply looks for this folder and is able to find data within all Excel files saved in there (new files will be added on a monthly basis).

Once it has found the folder there will be 2 pieces of data to evaluate; Cell $B$1; this will be the name of a course (e.g. health & safety, money laundering etc.) Column $D; this will contain the score achieved by multiple learners.

The summary spreadsheet then averages all of the scores for the different courses(in seperate cells)

The idea is that the .csv files can be pulled and saved into said folder and eliminates the need to manually input this data into the summary spreadsheet.

Run-time Error '1004':File Not Found :: Folder On Network

Dec 9, 2009

The script below scans through a specified folder on a network and scans every xls file inside that folder for a value. When it finds the spreadsheet which contains that value (a policy number) it outputs some of the data from the matching file and also provides a link to the sheet in question.

It worked perfectly until I saved, exited and re-opened the file and now I am getting a 1004 run-time error every time I try and execute the script.

I cant for the life of me work out a cause.

More baffling, the wording of the error says that the file 'R:DirCancellations.xls' could not be found.

At no point is a file called 'Cancellations.xls' specified. Why has the script decided to search for a file called 'Cancellations'?

Force Links To Reference Linked Workbook Network Folder

Apr 4, 2008

The situation is that I have created a workbook in a network folder: xprojectsexcelclientAApril

The workbook links to a few other workbooks on the same network, but in the parent folder: xprojectsexcelclientAApril

The problem occurs when my colleagues have to updates the links in the main workbook, because they have not mapped the network drive in the same way as I have. The problem is NOT the prefix, but the fact that they have a more direct link to the network folder. My collages have mapped the folder like: xclientAApril
Is there a way where I can make the links in the workbook, so they don't depend on the entire string, but only on the fact that it is in the parent folder?

I would like to create a code that will open all workbooks in folder "A" one at a time and then close the work book after another code is executed. So one workbook will open and while the workbook is open, I will call another code to format the active workbook and then the active workbook will be saved in folder "B" and closed and go to the next workbook in folder "A" to start all over. The folders are saved on the desktop.

Loop Through Folder, Run Macro On All Files

Mar 5, 2009

I am trying to process 60+ data files. I've recorded/written macros that do all of the processing, and now I would like to write a loop that will go through a folder with the data files (.txt, tab delimitted), and run the code on each file. I am using the Mac Version of Excel 2004. I have tried to adapt some code that I found in the forums, but after fixing a few errors, now nothing is happening when I run the code. The code is below. I have it in a module in the VBA editor.

length of the code; I'm assuming the problem is in the very beginning or end (the code I added for the loop), as the code in the middle that does the actual processing works.

Sub ProcessData()

Dim strDocPath As String
Dim strCurrentFile As String

strDocPath = "Macintosh HD"":Users:thomasarmstrong:Desktop:SF08_Macrosv2:Loop_test:directory:"
strCurrentFile = Dir(strDocPath & MacID("TEXT"))

Excel 2011 :: Loop Through All CSV Files In A Folder

Nov 23, 2011

I want to open all csv files in a folder and just copy and paste some columns into another file. I am having a bit of trouble with the following code which can be found at ozgrid and I have modified slightly so it looks in the current directory instead of a fixed path...

Sub RunCodeOnAllFiles()
Dim lCount As Long
Dim MyDir as string

For starters, if I don't use on error resume next I get a runtime error 445: object doesn't support this action. So when I use the on error resume next, then by the time it gets to the foundfiles line, there are no variables set, so on the next line (workbooks.open) nothing happens.

Is there an easier (more up to date?) method to open all csv files (or excel files) in a folder?

Run The 'loop Through A Folder' Code On Multiple Workbooks I Receive

Jun 5, 2008

I am trying to run the 'loop through a folder' code on multiple workbooks I receive.

The workbooks I receive are full of drop downs that have associated values of 1-3 on the first sheet. (About 100 in total) This particular workbook has the drop downs on one worksheet and the numeric results on another worksheet 'Results'

The second workbook 'Totals' (very basic) , just referenced each 'Results' worksheet and had equations that averaged all the drop downs cell by cell.

I would love to be able to use the 'loop through a folder' code to open them and then average them on the 'Totals' sheet. The main reason is that I am delegating this to another person and would like to eliminate the risk or human error. ( unless it is my own)

I am a total VBA n00b. Any assistance would be appreciated.

If needed I can upload the code or sheet as an example.

The base folder would always be the same. ie c: estresults*.xls

The naming would be very similar.

This loop code seemed relevant as it did not seem to require any file naming and would run through a folder and process all XLS files.

Excel 2010 :: Loop Through To Check For All Filenames In Folder And If Then?

Dec 22, 2013

getting a function working within Excel 2010. What I'm trying to do is to first look in a specific directory and loop through each foldername then check to see if the foldername exists in column B of my worksheet. If the foldername exists then check Column E of the same row for a specific value ("assigned") and then make sure column F of the same row has no picture inside the cell. If those three things exist (column B foldername and column E "assigned" and no picture in column F), then add a picture to column F of the same row as the foldername with a hyperlink to a filename of "notes.one" in that specific folder. Then just loop through each foldername in the specific directory until all foldernames have been checked.

Mapped Driver Macro Option

Feb 3, 2009

I finally completed a macro that would loop through selected workbooks in a folder and pull results to be shown in a new workbook.

This works fine by using a worksheet where the files are listed and in a1 of the worksheet, the path to the folder.

We have one workstation on the LAN with restricted access to the server, and therefore has mapped drives. Therefore the path to the folder containing the workbooks is different.

How could I instruct the macro when invoked - so in the case of that workstation - if the macro cannot find the files at the path stated in a1 of the workbook, it is to try a different location (The folder containing the workbooks is actually Drive:T)

Convert Horizontal Data To Vertical - Loop Through Files In Folder

Apr 9, 2014

I have a set of workbooks-all located in the same folder-in which data are shown "horizontally"

i.e. file 1 - sheet1 looks more or less like this:

1 2 3
4 5 6

same with the other files.

what I am trying to achieve is that in another woorkbook, all the data are copied in one vertical vector

6 from file 1 and then
6 from file 2

I can seem to be able to resize the array to the correct size but the only values copied are for the last file. in the example that I have above, the result would look something like:

This is the code I have so far:

Sub Consolidate()

Dim a As Workbook
Dim b As Workbook
Dim x, y(), i&, j&, k&
Dim myPath As String
Dim filename As String
Dim wb As Workbook

VBA - Attach Multiple Files To Email Using Folder Path Loop?

Feb 7, 2014

I have two pieces of code that each work, but I am struggling to combine the two.

I started with Ron de Bruin's code to attach multiple files to an email and then found more code that will loop through a folder to attach multiple files to an email.

Essentially, I would like the structure of Ron de Bruin's code, with the ability to have folder paths in the cell range, rather than file names.

Here is the code that works to loop through a folder, but it only works when I have the paths listed in one column, not in a range (e.g. columns C-Z)

Sub Send_Indv_Files()
Dim OutApp As Object
Dim OutMail As Object

How To Change Filepath Or Dir When Users Have Drive Mapped Differently

Oct 23, 2013

I have written code that allows the user to open a file. To make things easier I changed the file path to point directly to the folder where all the needed files will be placed. The problem is everyone that will be using this work book map their drives differently. One user may have it as H, and the other as J. Also users can have the same drive mapped but at two different starting points. Ex: H:DataReportsxxxyyy or H:Reportsxxxxyyy this causes the code to crash. Is there a way do default the path so it will not matter how the drives are mapped?

Here is what I am using so far:

Dim filt As Variant ' flit to be used in the getopenfile. variant is need for its multiple

Dim Title As String

Copy Cells Into Workbooks Names Mapped From Copy Cell

Aug 20, 2008

1. I have a list of data (Collated Data)
2. For every row in collated data I want to export the cells into a corresponding cell in my predetermined workbook (TAF Form), i.e, Cell C1 on Collated data goes into Cell D3 on TAF Form, cell D1 to cell I3 etc etc
3. Once all cells in one row have been copied into the TAF Form I want that TAF Form to save as "TAF Form & Employee Name" (which would come from cell D3).
4. I then want "TAF Form & Employee Name" to close.
5. I then want the Macro to do the same thing for Row 2, copy the cells, save the form, close the form
6. I want to do this for every row that I have (which varies).

Is this possible? If you have any more questions in terms of what I need, don't hesitate to ask.

Excel 2003 :: Extract Variable Rows Of Cells From Files In A Folder To Existing File In Folder

Mar 15, 2013

I need a macro in a workbook to look at all the files in the same folder that have "*att*.xls" in the name and determine and copy from the range A15:W515 only the rows that have data in at least columns A, C and D. Each file will vary as to how many rows there will be and there are more than the files with "*att*.xls" in the folder. The data will be on the only worksheet in each file and the worksheet is named "G2WAttendee_xls" the data from all the files need to be copied to the file called "Consolidated webinar reports.xls" (I am using Excel 2003) and to a sheet called "Attendance Data" and added to the end of the last paste.

At the start of the macro the current file "Consolidated webinar report.xls" should be saved to a sub folder of the current directory and have the date saved added to the name. The sub folder is called "Completed reports". The data in the original file on worksheet "Attendance Data" should be deleted.

At the end of the process all the files that have had data copied from them should be moved to the sub folder "Attendance reports consolidated" (This could be done as each file is closed if that is easier).

I have headings in row 1 of the "Attendance Data" worksheet that match the headings in the various files in the folder (which will always be in row 14 of the individual "*att*.xls" files).

The folder with all the files and the "Consolidated webinar report.xls" file is at path "Z:P and S MEvaluationsWebinar series 2012-13TB".
