2007 Right Function With Embeded Find Function
Mar 26, 2009I have a range of cells, for this example I will use 2.
Cell E17 = 77/170
Cell E18 = 8/9
Using the following formula: =SUM(RIGHT(E17,FIND("/",E17)))+SUM(RIGHT(E18,FIND("/",E18)))
This bring back an #VALUE! Error as the second part of the formula keeps picking up "/9" however the first part works fine, displaying "170"
Now if I use:
=SUM(RIGHT(E17,FIND("/",E17)))+SUM(RIGHT(E18,FIND("/",E18)-1))
It all works. The problem is that I need this to be automatic using the above way means having to add a "-1" to every formula for a cell with only 1 char to be added.
Using the formula:
=SUM(RIGHT(E17,FIND("/",E17)-1))+SUM(RIGHT(E18,FIND("/",E18)-1)).....
Excel 2007 :: How To Use Month Function In VBA
Jun 25, 2013How to use the Month function in VBA but am not getting the results I expect after reviewing other websites.
I'm running MS Excel 2007.
Simple example:
the worsheet cell, A1 has "5/14/2013" , cell format is DATE
I want to get the month as a number. I know that year(cells(1,1)) results in 2013 so in the immediate window, I try
?month(cells(1,1))
?month(range("A1"))
Both result in Run-time error '13' Type Mismatch.
What am I misunderstanding about the Month function?
2007 - Using The True False Function
Dec 10, 2009This is probably quite a simple request but here goes:-
=SUM(h2,e2-f2)
I would like excel to perform this calculation but only if another cell contains a date. I couldn't figure out how to do that so I added another column next to that cell and added =ISNUMBER(A8) to return a true or false statement. I was then going to hide this column but still refer to it.

Format (highlight) Cells With 'If' Function With 2007
Sep 14, 2009I have a workbook that I am working with and I need to formatting the cells so that they will have multiple formulas and I am not sure how to make it work.
Sheet1 Column A is titled 'accounts'. There are 2700 rows under Column A that are being used. Column A is already formatted with a Vlookup formula so I can't add another formula in these cells.
What I need to do is highlight many ranges of these 'accounts' cells depending on their account numbers. I need to input this formula in a separate location on the spreadsheet. For example; If 'accounts' is >=110031100000 AND <=110031100099 then highlight those accounts in 'RED'. and If 'accounts' is >=1200454000000 AND <=120045400099 then highlight those accounts in 'green' and so on...I am not sure how to word the if statement. The formula must reside in column D or greater and not in A.
Am I going about this the wrong way. What I am trying to do is isolate the cells (accounts) that I have referenced on another worksheet so that I can visually notice any accounts that may have been excluded.
Excel 2007 Net Working Days Function
Jan 6, 2010I am trying to use the NETWORKDAYS function in excel to calculate the working days for my company. the problem is I m located in UAE and here Saturdays and Fridays are official days off for my company. Now the problem is that the excel have this built in function that Sunday and Saturdays are weekend days. I want to customize the function for my local days off for my company.

COUNTIFS(Table[C7],Table[C7]&"",Table[C21],">=1")
and it always returns a value of zero or some positive integer.
I'm now looking for a little "function" that I can wrap around this expression that will:
A) indicate any non-zero result as 1 or TRUE
and
B) indicate any zero result as 0 or FALSE
Something like...
AREYOUNONZERO( (COUNTIFS(Table[C7],Table[C7]&"",Table[C21],">=1") )
I'm sure there's a fairly efficient way to do this... but I'm totally stumped at the moment!
Excel 2007 :: Calculating IRR Using Rate Function?
Aug 11, 2012I am using excel 2007. I am trying to calculate the internal rate of return, without creating an array. I figured out that I can use the rate function to give me the same answer as the IRR function if I have one payment stream of say 36 months @ 1000. Where I am an running into trouble is if I have second payment stream of 6 months extension of 1500. Rate # pay 36 amt 75 PV = 5000 FV 500 , How to handle the the last 6 months ?
This is the situation
asset costs is 5000
monthly lease is 75 for 36 months
extension for 6 months is 125
end of lease buyout is 500
what is the internal rate of return without creating an array.

Excel 2007 :: VLookup Formula With Indirect Function

I have formulas such as above in my Worksheet. So the above is in Cell H5
For the Range $C$45:$F$80, I am inserting rows (So moving down the data) and copying data from $C$5:$F$40 as values into the new space in $C$45:$F$80
I am doing the above using a macro, but when I run it I want this

=D5-VLOOKUP($C5,$C$45:$F$80,2,0)
to stay static, but instead I end up with
[CODE=D5-VLOOKUP($C5,$C$85:$F$120,2,0)[/CODE]
So my Table Array $C$45:$F$80 changes to $C$85:$F$120
How can I keep it as $C$45:$F$80
The other references in the formula seem to stay as I want them.

Excel 2007 :: Index And Match Function With Logical Test

I am using the Index and Match function to lookup for two specific criterias in a different worksheet. So far, it is working well, but it gets complicated. I want to look for the criterias in 6 different worksheets based on what a certain column is saying. Here is an example:

So, if the continent is Asia in the column A, I want Excel to look in the Asia worksheet for the city and the venue and return me the contact information. Same, if the continent says Europe, I want it to look in the Europe worksheet or the city and the venue and return me the contact information. So on and so forth.
The formula I have at the moment is this:
{=INDEX('Asia'!$1:$1048576;MATCH(B3&C3;'Asia'!D:D&'Asia'!E:E;0);9)}
How do I incorporate the logical test for it to look for the proper worksheet knowing that all my continent worksheet have the same structure?
Excel 2007 :: Using INDEX And MATCH Function To Return Header Value
Mar 26, 2013currently using Excel 2007 with Windows Vista.
I currently have a worksheet where I want to input a date (G2) and a rank value (H2) ranging from 1 to 4. The header value (B1:E1) corresponding to the date (A2:A4) and the rank (B2:B4) should be returned to I2 (currently returns #NA).
Using formula: =INDEX($B$1:$E$1,MATCH(H2,INDEX($B$2:$E$4,MATCH(G2,$A$2:$A$4),)))
which I found under: Find row, find value, then return column heading
However, the above formula does not seem to work with my date order or recurring data values of 1 to 4 over the 3 rows.
The worksheet layout is as follows:

Header

The return value under Header should be C.
I have reversed the order of the dates and put sequential numbers in B2:B4 as plug variables and the above formula will return the correct Header value but I need the formula to work with the current date order and repeating rank values of 1 to 4 in B2:B4. Do not wish to use VBA.
Excel 2007 :: Compile Error / Sub Or Function Not Defined - Even After Solver Has Been Referenced
May 15, 2014I get this error : Compile error : Sub or Function not defined. I found out that this might be caused by the solver not being referenced. But, this is fixed now but I still get the same error message.
I'm using Excel 2007 - Windows.

Excel 2003 :: Upgraded To 2007 And Worksheet Change Function Does Not Work
Oct 10, 2011I recently upgraded from Excel 2003 to 2007, and the worksheet change procedure that i have embedded in my worksheet no longer fires when the criteria are met. If and if I fix it to work in 2007, will it still work in 2003?

Excel 2007 :: Mouse Wheel Scroll Function Doesn't Work
Feb 8, 2012I'm using Excel 2007. When I try to scroll with the mouse wheel, it doesn't do anything. If I hold down the control key and scroll with the mouse, it zooms in and out. So that works fine, but I can't do the basic scrolling up and down the document with the mouse wheel. There is no "Tools, Options" menu in 2007 so I don't even know where to find this type of option. The options available from the Office button are completely different.

I want to determine the number of values SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions used/checked to arrive at the answer, i.e. 95 for row 2 and 116 for row 3. A function that can give a 3 and 2 respectively.
Example:
Results for Row #2 gives: 95 with 3 values picked up under "Rate"
Results for Row #3 gives: 116 with 2 values though three places were checked up under "Rate"
How can I count the number of these values referencing at the "Rate" like in the functions used.
I managed to use SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions to calculate totals based on "Rate" in row one.
I tried COUNTIF function, but allows only field/heading.

Sep 8, 2009I’m trying to use the SUMIFS function in Excel 2007 to evaluate the following formula:
{=SUMIFS(range to sum, range to evaluate, evaluation criterion)}
The range to sum is A1:A10, the range (dates) to evaluate are in B1:B10, and the evaluation criterion is that the date is before 31/10/1999.
So my formula looks like this:
{=SUMIFS(A1:A10,B1:B10,”<31/10/1999”)}
This works fine, but how do I refer the 3rd argument in the function to a date in a particular cell rather than typing in the date specifically?

Nesting Index / Match Function Within Vlookup Function?
Dec 3, 2013let me start by saying that I know an example workbook would be useful here, but the part I'm struggling with is the [managementroster.xlsm] file, and there is A. no way I can release it to the internets and B. its so huge/complicated I couldn't even begin to reproduce a portion of it, scrubbed of data, and hope to maintain its functionality in a meaningful manner.

This formula checks a staff number on this spreadsheet, and then goes and looks at the staff number on the roster. Once found, it returns that staff members roster, but changes any manager codes in the MRC list to Mgr, and changes all other roster codes to Free.
I now need this formula, before altering roster codes to Mgr or Free, to only return codes that are a match for another table (or after really. I don't particularly care, so long as only codes are shown that match data from another table). I think an index/match function would do the trick, but this forumula is already at the edge of my excel ability, nesting another function within it is completey beyond me. The relevant cells for the index/match function would be:
This first Match function targets the column. $E3 is the date required, $BA$1:$DN$1 is the range the dates are entered in
Match: Lookup value = $E3
Lookup array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$BA$1:$DN$1
match type = 0
This second Match function targets the row. $A$4 is the department name, $B$434:$B$452 is the range where all departments are entered
Match: Lookup value = $A$4
Lookup Array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$B$434:$B$452
match type = 0
Index: array = $BA$434:$DN$452
So I think my final function is

Function To Mirroring Cell Relative To Function's Location
Jul 17, 2008I have created a List in excel of various tasks. (See attached example.) Each row contains one cell with a function which equals the cell above it and to the right. So the function for cell C3 would be D2. The only importance is that the cell mirrored is always the cell one above and to the right. However, now I would like to be able to rearrange this List, but the “one up and to the right” function will now be all over the place.
Is someone aware of a function which will target a relative location instead of an exact cell?

Force Function To Use Row Relative To Cell Housing Function
Mar 2, 2008I have been looking around have this much code from this site, modified. What I am trying to do is calculate numbers by a position with cells D through K having numeric values. I have 'hardcoded' the cells (D2, E2, etc in the code below), but in reality I only want the current row (so if the formula is on the 2nd row, I want D2, if it is on the 3rd row, I want D3).
My problem is obviously the formula isn't working because I am not correctly tying back to the spreadsheet (Positioncalc.xls). When I put the formula in the spreadsheet it works, but in my script I get 0 everytime.
My Script:

So, when I put =Position(A2,True) I expect to see the formula results of those cells calculated based on the position (QB, HB, etc with their unique formulas).
My next challenge after this is to highlight certain cells based on the Position. So if A2 = QB, I want cell D2 boldface and Red, etc. I have seen some scripts on colors and such here, so I might be able to figure it out.
Concatif Function Breaks Beforedoubleclick Function Just By Being There?
Nov 19, 2009I have a tracking sheet (attached) that has many functions, but I'm having trouble with two of them. First of all, I have a Worksheet_Change event set that when a cell is cleared, it fills the cell with a formula to use the record above it as a default value if another cell is equivalent. This worked when I first wrote it, but now it seems to break every other time I use it. When assigning the formula it returns a Method Default/FormulaR1C1/Offset failed error message. It seems to be different for each one, each time and I can't figure out what the problem is.
The other problem I'm having is that I wrote a BeforeDoubleClick event to expand or contract any given record, or series of records. this too worked when I initially wrote it, but now is only hiding one row when it should be hiding eight or more.
I'm not terribly versed in VBA and totally baffled as to why I'm having these problems. As I side note, any ideas to clean up any of the code and make this run smoother (as ther will be many more series added when complete).
