Macro To Delete Vba Code - Macro Security Warning

Feb 7, 2008

I have recently grabbed the very helpful "Macro to delete VBA code" from this site, and it's working but with one small problem.

My worksheet runs a lot of code, then deletes all macro code and saves itself.

The problem is the next time i open I still get the macro security warning!

I've checked thoroughly and there is definatley no vba left anywhere.

If I open the document, enable macros, and save it, then open it again, I no longer get the warning.

Display Macro Security Level Code

Sep 6, 2006

Although not a complete novice, I am fairly new to EXCEL/VBA.
Is there a script that can be embedded into an EXCEL workbook that checks the Macro security of the PC, and if set to HIGH, shows a message that states that "Macro security is too high to open this workbook".
With security set to high, Excel will open my w/ book, but not run any of my checks that are set in the module. So a "catch 22" really, I need the macros to run to that it is being opened on an authorised computer etc, but if security is set to HIGH, then they don't run, similarly, if I put a macro in to check the macro setting, it won't run unless the security is set to medium.

Macro Security (saying That The Macro Security Level Is Too High)

Nov 18, 2008

I have a sheet that will not let me use macros. I can record them, but when I go to use them it says that the Macro security level is too high. I change it to Medium or Low but it doesn't make a difference.

The same spreadsheet works with Macros on another computer, but not my main one.

Security Warning (Macros Have Been Disabled)

Apr 28, 2008

I was playing around with Macros on an excel file. I created a few and ran them. In the end, I didn't like the way they ran, so I deleted them all. However since I ran them in the excel file, every time I open the file it gives me a warning saying
"Macros have been disabled."

Is there any way to remove the possible Macros ties/links from my file? I know I can disable the warning, but if I just want to remove the Macros ties to my file.

I would like the security warning not to pop up when the workbook is opened. I have been able to turn it off for myself but I had someone else test it and each time it's opened the security warning pops up with the disable, enable messages. Is there a way to turn this off permanently so not matter who opens it it won't pop up?

Security Warning About Macros When Opening 2003 File

Mar 3, 2009

I'm using Excel 2003 and recently when I open a file, it prompts out a Security Warning message about Marcros which at the end contains 3 choices: Disable Macros, Enable Macros, and More Info. I then click Enable Macros to open the file. Once open, I go to Tools > Marco > Run Marco (Alt+F8). A Macro box prompt out but the Macro list is empty. I try different choice inside the pull down menu "Macros in" but the Macro list is still empty.

Where can I find out the macro which triggers the warning message of Security Warning when opening the file? And how can I delete the macro if found useless.

Are You Sure - Security For Macro

Aug 7, 2007

I have a spreadsheet that I regularly have to clear the data and start over on, so i recorded a macro for clearing this rather long sheet with only one cllick.

My problem is that i am not the only person who will use this sheet, if They click the control button by mistake they will clear their work and you cannot undo it. I was wondering if i could make it ask "are you sure" kind of like the save option when closing an unsaved document.

Xl Macro Cant Email Due To Outlook Security

I've written code into excel that sends workbooks to email recipients. This works fine except for use on one friends computer. Of course it's the friend that needed the code in the first place.
What happens is that when the macro attempts to mail a spreadsheet an outlook popup occurrs warning that a macro is attempting to email a message. And so nothing gets emailed out!

Macro To Compare Security Codes

Jul 18, 2008

I have 4 worksheets in a workbook: “choose security”, “download”, “MC” and “Lending”,

In the choose security” worksheet in CELL A2 is an HEX code, i.e. stock code.

2. In MC worksheet is raw data of all holdings related to various p’folios and securities, the information we need from this worksheet is,

a) p’folios, which are in column A,
b) Holdings which is Col B
c) Security code i.e. stock code which is in Col D

I need a macro or a formula to look at what security code is in “choose security” worksheet CELL A2, then look for this security in worksheet “MC” Col D, once matched, copy the data for this security to worksheet “download” and paste in CELL A3, I only need p’folios and holdings to be copied to “download” so data in Col A and B.

Once data has been copied to worksheet “download”, I then need another macro or formula to repeat step 2, but this time the macro will be looking at worksheet “Lending”,

a) P’folios, which are in Col B
b) Security code is in Col D
c) Holdings is in Col H

Once the macro or formula has found a match of security code, it will then copy the data from Col B and H to download worksheet CELL E3.

Trusted Macro Regardless Of Security Setting

Macro Security Changing Worksheet

May 13, 2006

I have created a workbook. That has 35 worksheets within it. I have created a series of buttons and put in a macro code so that when the user clicks on the button it changes the active worksheet to what they clicked on.

So basically when they click button b it changes to worksheet b and if they click button c it changes to worksheet c, ETC.

The problem I have is that since it is a macro it works fine on my computer but when it is sent to other users, because of security settings on their pcs it will disable the macro [thus the buttons will not work or show up]. I have created a digital trust certificate for it. However it is alot of steps to install this for the basic user. Is there a way to create a button that will do what I want without using a macro code. In that it will be able to go to many different users and wont have to worry about the buttons not working because of security settings?

Macro To Change Security Settings

Aug 6, 2008

Is there anyway to change the security settings in Excel 2007 using VB macros? I have tried to record the macro as I change the settings but nothings is recorded.
Basically I have two workbooks, and I want to run one of the macros within workbook 1 from workbook 2. This is straight forward, however why I try to run it, excel says that the macros are disabled in the other workbook, but I know they are not, they are all enabled (bottom option)

I was hoping to find some way of fooling Excel into thinking the macros were enabled by changing the security settings (actually keeping them the same, but making excel think that i've changed them) before I try to the macro from the other sheet. I don't know if i've explained myself very well here, I hope I have, if not let me know and i'll try to go into more detail.

4.0 Macro Warning On Open

Aug 26, 2008

I keep getting this warning. I temporarily used a 4.0 macro, but found a better way to do it, so I no longer am using that function. How do I remove whatever it is that is calling it so that user's don't have to see this message. There is a small probability that something else somewhere is calling a 4.0 command, but I have no idea how to find out what that is.

I've checked the references, and excel 4.0 Macro's aren't listed, and I'm pretty sure they were before when I was using them.

Run Macro Without Warning Prompts

Sep 6, 2007

I have an excel document which automatically runs a macro when it opens. The macro itself opens various excel documents, copies, Pastes and Deletes work sheets then saves the updated files in a new location. I simply used the Application. ScreenUpdating = False at the start of the macro and Application.ScreenUpdating = True at the end of the macro to hide all the various opening and closing and formatting of workbooks.

My aim is for the user to be able to open the document, wait a few moments while the macro runs, then be presented with the finished article when the macro ends without any need for interaction. The problem I am getting is as the macro runs, various windows pop up with messages such as "The file C:... already exists do you wish to replace the file" with a yes or no wchoice and "Data may exist in the sheet(s) selected for deletion. with a delete or cancel choice To Permanently delete the data press Delete". What I want to be able to do is stop these windows popping up and for the macro to go ahead with replacing the file or deleting the sheets without being manually told each time.

Delete Query Tables Macro Code

Aug 14, 2008

I am currently working on a project that uses Excel to parse a .txt document. Its working quite well for me. It functions by having two worksheets. In the first worksheet I use the " import external data" menu to import my .txt file. In another worksheet I have set up fields that show only the important information from the .txt file and leave the junk behind.

I’m looking to improve the functionality of this by adding a button to automatically clear the data in the first worksheet so that new data can be added quickly.

I have searched the forum and found a couple of threads on "QueryTables". After reading up on those, I have made a simple button with the following code.

Sheets("Sheet1"). Cells.Clear
Sheets("Sheet1").QueryTables.Item(1).Delete

After I load a .txt file and parse it using the formulas set up, I copy my needed information and then press this button. The cells clear, and the QueryTables are "reset" (maybe not the right word). Now a different .txt file can be imported and the process starts again.

The problem I am having is that. If there is no "QueryTables.Item(1)" to delete, I get a run time error. (Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range).

Would anyone know how to make my button conditional to having a "QueryTable" active? I.E. If I press it when there is no data loaded it doesn't do anything or give me that error.

Macro Code To Delete Identified Columns

Sep 22, 2004

I am developing some code to extract selected worksheets to a new workbook, and provide the data in a "standalone" form where certain formulas have been converted to values etc. As part of this project, hidden columns are made visible, then data is pasted as values on a row by row basis, then the previously hidden columns are deleted. Here is the code that unhides the columns and identifies those columns as ones that it needs to delete later on:

'Expose hidden columns and keep a list
For i = 1 To 200
Range("a1").Offset(0, i - 1).Select
If ActiveCell.EntireColumn.Hidden = True Then
colnum = ActiveCell.Column
ActiveCell.EntireColumn.Hidden = False
If HideCOL <> "" Then
HideCOL = HideCOL & "," & colnum
Else
HideCOL = colnum
End If

End If

Next

The macro then goes about its business doing this and that, and at the end comes back to delete those offending columns whose numbers have been stored in the variable "HideCOL".

'Delete columns that were hidden
If HideCOL <> "" Then
Dim colArray As Variant .............

Delete All Range Names Macro Code

May 13, 2008

I have written VBA code which is operated every month. This code deletes several range names in a target spreadsheet, performs other actions - including extracting certain areas to different spreadsheets and then closes the spreadsheet without saving.

The range names in the target spreadsheet are required for ongoing use, so can not be deleted permanently.

Is there any code that deletes all range names in one go? At present my code includes the results of recording a macro wherein I delete each range name in turn - creating script over 100 lines long.

Excel Exits Macro Without Warning - No Errors

Jan 19, 2012

I'm writing a piece of code that puts certain values in certain cells based on certain criteria. (Vague, I know.)

When the code gets to the part where it puts the first value in the first cell (in a loop), it inserts the value and then the code stops running. Even when I put in "On Error Goto Err" with a msgbox that contains the error description, the code just quietly stops.

Here is a simple macro I wrote to see if maybe the problem had anything to do with something specific to my code. This one fails too, for no apparent reason. Could my file be corrupted or something? What do I do about this?

Code:
Sub rtest()

On Error GoTo err

Sheet2.Range("p4") = "test" 'code stops on first line, whether it is this one or the next every time.
ActiveCell.Value = "test"
ActiveCell.Value = "success"

End
err:
MsgBox err.Description

End Sub
