Macro Does Not Work From Any Selected Cell On Spreadsheet?
May 21, 2014
I created a very simple macro, which actually works.
There is a button on my spreadsheet, so the user can launch the macro using this button.
[ Code] .......
At the moment the user clicks on the button, the part of the macro which is hiding the rows will not take place if the cell activated at the moment of launching the macro is in the range below :
The table on my Excel sheet covers range A5:E49
If the active cell is anywhere in A6:49 or C5:D24 or C25, the hiding part of the macro will not work. Launched from any other cells on the spreadsheet it works fine.
The rest works fine and I am not getting an error.
To solve this I just need to add the line Range("G9").Select and it will work.
But I would like to understand why it does not work from the cells given above. My sheet is not protected and I unlocked the cells just ion case.
i need to work out a formula for my spreadsheet which I use to work out cutting lists for timber frames. I need it to work out if the width of a job is for eg 2400mm i need to work out how many timber studs I need so the space between each stud is between 400mm and 500mm and this will need to work for a range of different sizes of frames. I have it written at the moment and it just devides the width by 400 and gives me a amount of studs but it would work much better if it could space them between 400 & 500.
The spreadsheet has been around for a long time. Even in the electronic form, it has been around for over a quarter century. How has the electronic spreadsheet improved or changed your job?
I'm taking a course in computer applications and will be using any information I get in replies to this thread in my term paper.
Anyways, the issue is that when I have some cells selected then use the text-to-columns, it works fine.. but when I select an entire column, it "acts a fool"...
I made this video to show the effect on my computer.
Everytime a cell (say B18) changes value I want the following to happen:
If it changes to "Annual" I want row 20 to ungroup
If it changes to "Quarterly" I want rows 22-25 to ungroup
If it changes to "Monthly" I want rows 27-38 to ungroup
From what I can see on other discussion groups I need to enter a code on the worksheet from view code... but I cant work out the code that I would need to enter.
Problem: I have textbox entries that are part of a Userform that opens using a macro on a speadsheet button. Once this form is open, I can no longer actively work in the spreadsheets.
Need: I need a way to minimize or "put on hold" the Userform so that I can freely move around in the spreadsheet. This could be in the form of a button on the Userform. Then, I need a way to bring back this userform to the point I was at before being put on hold so that I can continue to input entries into the textboxes (again, a buttton that could bring it back). There should be a way to toggle between both worlds.
I have a database full of part numbers for example 0EV2310A06G01JU:S5065
These can vary to having a vareity of symbols/letters/numbers (I am not sure if this makes a difference!)
writing a macro to run a report to show the top three reoccuring partnumbers.
The spreadsheet is currently 1845 cells big but this data will change on a weekly basis, the layout will however remain the same. The column that the part numbers are in is column A.
Is a macro the right way to be approaching this if the data is going to be changing on a weekly basis?
I am having trouble trying to develop a code to include into a spreadsheet for work. It will be a live spreadsheet accessed by a few people who will have control over there own columns in the spreadsheet (2 columns are designated for one project) Each Project director is to edit the info about their project.
So my goal is to put a code in cell C3 that shows the date that cells C4-32 and D4-32 were last updated.
We want to create an excel spreadsheet that will tally the number of votes for a particular artist's work. There will be about 150 artist's works that will all be assigned an individual number from 1 to 150 on an excel sheet.
We will have about an hour to complete the counts to determine winners, so a short time frame.
Is there a way of creating a formula/macro in one cell -to just enter the number of the artist's work that was voted for- and have it placed as a tally against the individual piece?
I am trying to create a spreadsheet that will automatically increase the work order number by 1. The cell will always be in the same place. The idea is that when the file is opened it populates the number. After being closed and reopened the number will be 1 higher than the previous.
The page will reused by various people to create and print work requests for my mechanics, I want it to assign the W/O automatically.
I developed a 14-day work schedule and I assigned each different job position a number. The different job positions are numbered 1-6 and are as follows: #1=5:30am-1:30pm, #2=6:00am-2:00pm, #3=9:30am-1:30pm, #4=12:00pm-8:00pm, #5=1:00pm-8:00pm & #6=6:00pm-8:00pm. Numbers 1,2,4,5 clock-out for a 30 minute lunch break, while the other numbers do not.
My goal is to insert the numbers 1-6 into the spreadsheet throughout the 14 days for each employee, and have Excel calculate the total number of hours for each employee in the far right column. I would also like "V" & "H" to equal 7.5 hours. This would save a lot of time instead of going through and adding up the hours with a calculator
I have a spreadsheet that is being used for tracking work completed each day in a week. Each day has 5 columns and 10 rows of data to potentially be entered, some of the data is text and some is numerical. Can anyone help me come up with a formula that will count the text and the numerical entries for each day? I tried to use a nested if statement but it exceeded the number of nestings available. The range of cells for the first group is B6:F16.
As a side question, will count work for a range of data or only one column or row at a time?
I just want to run a macro when a certain cell is selected. upon investigation, i have found that I can right click on the sheet tab and view the code. I can then add the following Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Address = "$a$1" Then run(macro1) end if End Sub
I've seen plenty of code for running a macro when various events occur, but how do I run a macro when a cell is simply selected? I have a calendar Macro, and there are two cells that need date input. I want the user to select the cell, and the calendar to pop up. Macro for the calendar works correctly, just need the code for the activation upon cell selection.
i am currently using the macro below to import text files into a spreadsheet. Currently, it begins the import in cell A1 which is what I recorded it to do. how do I change the code to begin the import on the active cell?
i have a made a macro that copies info to a new sheet now that is working great but if i change the name of the work book it wont work any more so i need the macro to work with what ever name i give the workbook
the current name is
AVERAGE PRICE (update 2009) Mimmos Armico 170809.xls
I am trying to create a button that when clicked it will add a character to the existing cell. Eg if cell had LDs and I click button I like it show LDsâ‚‚
Currently working on a project for university and still learning how to use macro. Got a problem which im sure is an easy solution for all you experts out there. As shown in the picture; http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1205/macrohelp.jpg. When the Sap number is entered (from A19 and onwards), it copies the value to cell B10. The general code is used below.
I am trying to create a macro that runs only if the user has selected a cell in column "D". I want it to fill in the background color of the selected cell and then make the value of column "M", row "whatever row the selection is on" = 1.
How to change the background color, but am unsure how to accomplish the other two tasks.
Code:
Sub Macro1()    With Selection.Interior        .ThemeColor = xlThemeColorAccent3 End WithEnd Sub
I have a macro that will go through a set of numbers and check them against a condition. if the cell complies with the condition i want to copy the entire row to a new sheet. sofar I have tried the following to select the current row but to no avail.
The goal of that formula was to return a Date/Time stamp that is fixed and doesn't change over time. The formula is intended to run in which ever cell that I select to enter it into. I named the formula:
=DS
What I am trying to do is create a macro that will run the formula using a hot key function. I want to be able to select a cell and hit CTRL D and have that above formula run in that cell. I have multiple sheets in my workbook and I need the macro to be able to run on any sheet in my workbook. Below is what I have:
Sub DateStamp() ' ' DateStamp Macro
[Code]....
I was trying to apply the macro to only a certain range of cells on any given sheet.
I have a macro to sort a very large list of materials by a variety of conditions.
The macro runs automatically when a cell on the master list spread sheet is selected and using If/ElseIf it sorts based on what cell they have selected.
Example If ActiveCell = "ALUMINIZED" Then ActiveSheet.Range("$A$14:$K$1945").AutoFilter Field:=2 ActiveSheet.Range("$A$14:$K$1945").AutoFilter Field:=4 ActiveSheet.Range("$A$14:$K$1945").AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:= _"Aluminized"
Which is working perfectly. The problem I am having is that some of the cells are two lines so it looks like this:
BE BEARINGS
I don't know how to get it to launch based on that cell content because of the line break in there. Can I make it launch based on the first two characters only?
I am looking to run two separate macros. I have a project plan and I am looking to be able to select a button whereby on-click, a new row is created within a selected cell. However if the cell clicked is outside of a pre-determined range, then the task is automatically entered at the bottom of the plan. I would like for the copied row to go ABOVE the selected cell and have all of the same formatting as the row below (not the top - as is default in Excel).
The second is going to be very similar but will copy a task category (like a header item) and the first task (row) found below. It will also be copied from below and be inserted above the selected cell. Both macros will clear certain cells, whilst maintaining the contents of others, with formula contained. I.E. Columns C,D,E,H,I,J will be cleared.
I'm looking for a macro to jump to and select a cell if it matches the text in another cell based on a drop down list. So I have a drop down list in cell c57 and a form control search button right next to it. I want the user to be able to select from the drop down, click search and then jump to the cell that matches what they selected. I would like the macro to search from B:60 - B629.
Basically it is a if statement saying that if the selected cell falls between 1/01/06 and 31/01/06 then Jan would be selected. The end part is not a problem; I’m just not sure how to write the one line of code that would test if the cell falls between the two dates. I attemped to create it as shown in the code attached below but wasn't successful. I used an else if statement to test the other 11 months.
Sub test() Dim SelectDate As Range Set SelectDate = Range("SelectedDate") If selectedDate >= 1 / 1 / 2006 And selectedDate <= 31 / 1 / 2006 Then ActiveSheet. PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("PnLDate").CurrentPage = _ "Jan" ElseIf selectedDate >= 1 / 2 / 2006 And selectedDate <= 28 / 2 / 2006 Then
