I would like a Macro to automatically draw a line as soon as the maximum length of 17.5 meters is reached. Then start with the next items until a maximum of 17.5 is reached and so on..
View 12 RepliesI have been supplied a spreadsheet (see attached example sheet) which contains data on a project I am working with. Essentially the guy who has supplied me the data has been lazy and only provided values once within the sheet which makes filtering extremely difficult. I have made the cells on the sheet A3:F23 in the format I ideally require. Cell A26 onwards is the format in which the data is currently supplied to me.
Column A (Box No) should roll down the same value until the value changes, where a blank row should be left as already exists and the same process of roll the value down until it changes, leave the blank line and then roll down the next value. This should continue until the data ceases at the end of the sheet - I have made the example sheet short but there are tens of thousands of box numbers. Columns B (Box Type) and C (No of Bundles) should also remain constant where Box No remains the same and should be rolled down until the value of column A (Box No) changes.
Finally column D (Bundle No) should be rolled down independently of A,B,C and needs to change whenever a new value appears within the sequence for column D. Again when this changes the blank row should be left and then the new value rolled down until it changes again. I have tried in vain to try and create a macro within Excel to do this but have failed miserably.
I got Excel for Mac 2011 installed. I have a table called 'Raw" that holds data from the beginning until the end of 2013 (in total ~7000 rows). I have columns for Category, Start and End time, and time period in Hours, Minutes, and Seconds:

I would need to look at the Category entries for Transportation, then only use the ones which have the Start set to 2013/01, and then take the Hours/Minutes/Seconds, and summarise it in a new table called 'Data':

I've set up a filing system which saves sheets/ workbooks based on the value of a cell - Range("B1") Everything works great apart from when ThisFile String length exceeds 31 characters which you may know is the max useable character length for a sheet name - I had no idea! 8-0
Is there a way i can check if string length exceeds 31 characters then, if it does, shorten it to 31 characters?

My worksheet contains data with the reaction times on a psychological test. Each respondent in the test has 280 rows in my excel sheet.
The 'perfect' length of the row, is from A to M. When an error is made in the test, the length of the row will increase. So the error length can be A to AA.
For me it is important to analyse the error. So I would like to give a perfect row length, the value 1, and an error row length a value 2.
So, in conclusion:
If:
Cell length = A1 - M1? --> Copy A1 B1 C1 (A B Cof that row) to Sheet3, and give D1 in sheet 3 the value 1
Cell length >= A1 - M1? --> Copy A1 B1 C1 (A B C of that row) to Sheet3, and give D1 in sheet 3 the value 2
Im using the following formula to update our prices in our stock list.
=VLOOKUP(C1,'Most Recent Prices 2009'!A:G,6,0)
Column C = Unique part number.
Problem:
I have a tab of 100 or so prices that I don't want to be updated. How can I exclude these pieces of equipment when I drag down the above formula. Assume that these pieces of equipment are in a tab called 'keep' and their unique part numbers are in Column A.

Basically, I just want to do a pivot which shows the Name and Number for those names listed in the LIST tab.
The pivot source is the data tab, and the result is in the result tab.
I have the code to create the pivot, but filtering it for those specific names on the LIST tab is where I am getting stuck.

I was wondering how to input data on one sheet, then have specifics from that first sheet get sorted and put on the second and third sheet according to it's value. I have attached an example with my comments in red.

Person: # of times
John 2
Joe 2
Frank 2
Jack 1
Based on an IF statement, the cell should bring back John, the next cell down should bring back John, the third cell should bring back Joe as John has reached his limit of 2, and have this repeat until all criteria that meet the IF statement have been met.
Anyone know the maximum lenght/size limitations for a macro in excel?
hit this limitation a couple times, and it serves to be quite a annoynace... end up having to link them together with a Application.Run command.

The text length I want it to perform the action on is highlighted with "<<" if the length of text does not meet the required number then I want the statement to skip and move onto the next one.
I have the text to column code already done with relative references however the long text string I want the statement activated on is not always present which means that the pattern (0,3) is not always consistent.
I've done quite a bit of searching in the forum and online and haven't found anything that's generic and can be used at anytime.
What I'm looking for is a way or for code that tells you how long it takes a macro to run from start to finish, something that can be used to time any macro. I've seen some threads in the forum where people indicate that it took x amount of seconds for their macro to run but not sure how to do it.
on one sheet we have a summary of the main list, which includes totals of money recieved, totals of all the different sources (ie, where they heard about us from), the totals of the frequencies they pay (ie, how many donate monthly, quarterly...) ... etc. on the next sheet we have the "main" list of donors, their IDs, amounts, frequency, source ...
the totals on the first sheet are updated manually, but i want to change that as there are a great number of errors.
if it is possible to roll over a cell in column B2 and have a little box pop up with the value that is in cell Z2? B3 and Z3...so on and so forth?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a column of data where the seperate entities are divided by blank rows. for example: i need to calculate sum(G3:G15) then skip the blank row (G16) and calculate the next group, say sum(G17:G50) and export that import to a new worksheet.
The issue is that the column lengths vary from day to day so the blank rows will not be in the same position.
I've recorded this Macro to sort the cells in a column alphabetically if any cells have content.
I would like to use the Macro on the whole workbook however the AB column range varies between the worksheets.
How should I adapt this Macro to sort simply to the END of AB column??

I am attempting to modify VBA code from [URL] .....
The section of the code I want to modify is below dealing with importing selective text. The original function returned a "False" if the line contained a keyword specified in the Array function. I have reworked it so that it shows a "True" if the line contains a keyword specified in the Array function.
My only problem is that it only does it when the keyword appears in the beginning of the line, as it uses the "Left" operator in looking at line. How do I configure the function so that it returns a "True" if the keywords appears anywhere in the line?
When copying the formula =SUMIFS(G3:G103,I3:I103,"3") how do I modify it so that only the "3" rolls to the next integer and the rest of the formula remains constant? In other words the 3 would roll to a 4 when copied down a column and the rest of the formula does not change?

I'm creating a calculator to determine the distance & travel time on a xy grid for a game. I'll share what I have so far to display the big picture. Here’s what I’ve accomplished so far:
#1) Cells A1 & B1 are dynamic, they are frequently changed so distance and time may be displayed. Cells A2 & B2 do not change.
#2) I use the following formula to determine the distance between cells, displayed in C2: =SQRT((A2-$A$1)^2+(B2-$B$1)^2)
#3) Next I multiply C2 by a number so that distance is measured correctly per unit type for this game. (I hide this column). Therefore, cell D3 has the following formula: =C2*20
#4) Now my problem, cell E3 - Correctly displaying time. I have the following formula in E3: =TIME(0,D2,0)
This works great!! That is until the time goes beyond 24 hours, then it rolls over. I've tried right clicking and setting the custom format of E3 to [hh]:mm, it still rolls over. I’ve also tried setting formatting to d:[hh]:mm, if I do this then the output time displayed is incorrect.
Ideally I would love a simple fix so that the time will roll over and show days. (I would like a display similar to d:hh:mm).
I’ve done a fair bit of research online and either I'm missing something simple or this is more complex than I thought. And not to make this any more confusing, but I would love whatever I accomplish here to be useable in compatibility mode ...

I'm trying to make a vacation accrual sheet, and I think I have the basics of it down, but I'm running into a problem figuring out how to put in roll over days from the previous year.
Every year on January 1rst, accrual resets. Any days that haven't been used are eligible to be used for 3 months after January 1rst, but after that (on April 1rst), the old days are gone, and the employee is back to using the year's current accrual days. I'm not sure how to do that.
