Visually Formatting A Row
Apr 11, 2008I have a table that I would like to format visually to enhance it. I know about conditional formatting, but this doesn't seem capable of what I want to do.
Basically, I have a table, and the contents of it range from A6:H59. I want the formatting to affect an entire row based on two factors.
As an example, we shall use row 6.
If cell A6 isn't blank, and cell H6 IS blank, then I would like the entire row from A6:H6 to be coloured in Amber.
If cell A6 isn't blank, and cell H6 isn't blank, then I would like the entire row from A6:H6 to be coloured in Green.
Of course, I want this formatting to the true of all rows in the sheet, but do I need to have a conditional formatting code for each row? Does conditional formatting even go into things this deep?
I have contemplated using VBA, which I know is more than capable. There was an example given in another thread, but my VBA is poor as I haven't programmed a bean in years, and I don't know where to even start. Below is the example code take from another thread similar to this (I didn't want to hijack another man's problem).

Jun 10, 2009I have 1000's of columns of data to go through, I just need to visually inspect the data and then delete any column containing irregular data. At the moment; I select a section of the first column of data and insert a column chart for that data. I then need to change the source of the chart data to that of the next column, to do this I click on the data within the chart and it will show the data on the worksheet that I have selected by surrounding it in a blue box, I then click on this box and drag it to the next column of data. Clicking on the blue box (which sometimes I miss, and I then have to go back to the chart to activate it again) and dragging it to the next column is getting annoying, especially as I have sooooo much data to go through. Does anyone know if there is a shortcut key for this, or how I could write a macro to do this?

Dashboard With 2 Validation Dropdown Lists?
Jul 22, 2014I have a dashboard with 2 validation dropdown lists - 1 for Brand name (text) and one for month (mmm-yy) which go and run various pivots, etc.This works perfectly - except the dropdown list is so small its unreadable.
So I've tried a workaround using Combo boxes which I found here:
This does work, but when I select a month on the 2nd Combo Box, it is then displayed in number format eg, 41699. I've tried changing the format to mmm-yy but it keeps displaying as a number.
Is there any way I can make it display as mmm-yy?
Dashboard - Dynamic Hyperlink Macro
Jul 24, 2014I am building a dashboard and would like to be able to have shapes I have created be clickable with a dynamic link to a document on our network. Something along the hyperlink() function.
In a cell, the function looks like this: =HYPERLINK(Worksheet!I34,Worksheet!F34).
The data in I34 changes, depending on the input from a drop down using a vlookup command. Is it possible to create a macro and assign it to a shape to make the shape a clickable link?

To keep it simple I am only looking at 4 fields in the referneced data set. They are Date, Net Calls, Average Handle Time and Agent.
So records look as follows:

I am stuck on the Average Handle Time problem as this needs to be weighted on net call volume contribution by agent conditional on dates being equal to or greater than the start date and less than or equal to the end date.

When one of these part numbers is selected from the drop down list I need the rest of the fields to populate with the appropriate information from various sheets in the workbook. The Dashboard is separare worksheet and the calculations are done in several additional sheets. The results, based on the chosen values, are updated in the Dashboard sheet in an area starting with column AO and can be like $AO$4:$BR$37, then $CA$4:$DD$37, and so on: total 6 or seven areas.
I would like to paste one area at the time (with all formats, including font, values, borders, merged cells, etc.) into the “physical” dashboard – the visual area on the screen. I do not want to make this operation manually; shall be automatically.
Setting Up Excel Data In Aggregated Way That Can Feed Dashboard Or Daily Report
Aug 19, 2013I want to set up daily charts to monitor various things but Im not sure how best to set up the data in order to do this so it calculates automatically as data is refreshed.
I want to run daily activity data that tells me how many people attend each room per day. the aggregated data would include:
Number of attendances, by room (there are 11 rooms), by day
Each attendance grouped by category of patient (up to 25 categories)
Each attendance by type of attendance (various groups)
How should I set up the data to show these things in a way that it can be linked to a text file and refreshed daily on opening? the data at the moment is in rows per attendance rather than grouped in any way.
I would like the data to have dates and months etc automatically genetared by the attendance date in order to graph the above indicators, as well as a % atttendance in relation to capacity per room etc
simple excel template that I could try to manipulate my data into so I can get started. The data is generates using a transact SQL query and saved as a text file which I wabt to use for the daily stats.

Aug 26, 2009I have an Excel 2003 program that contains macros. One of the macros hides certain command bars and disables the worksheet menu bar. On close the opposite is true. The problem is, if a user uses the disable macros when opening then the worksheet menu bar and other command bars are still available. I would like to hide all of the data sheets and display another sheet that would normally be hidden displaying a message that the macros have to be enabled for the program to work correctly if disable macros is chosen. When the enable macros are used I would like the Error page to be hidden.

Jul 28, 2008I have a user that keeps a maintenance log in an Excel worksheet and sends an updated copy once a week to a board member. Two weeks ago, the board member started complaining that he was prompted to enable/disable macros on opening and became worried when my user stated that no macros were used in the book. He is now concerned that we have sent him a virus.
I know the file is clean because I've scanned it, and when I look at the file in VB, there are no modules or classes present just the Sheets 1-3 and the ThisWorkbook file. None of these objects have any code in them. My user does have some macros in PERSONAL.XLS but they are not used in the workbook in question.
No one else gets the prompt for enabling/disabling macros. Even if I set my security to prompt for any macros, I get no message. I'm convinced that there must be some setting in his Excel that is causing this individual to get this message. Is there anything else other than a macro that would cause this?

I want to create another sheet to show each class down the rows and the columns to show each school rule. Therefore, each cell would show the number of each particular rule broken for each particular class. I have tried to do countif and sumproduct (if on sheet 1, column B the class is KA and on sheet 1, column M, the rule is bullying = how many times this has occurred).

Here's the weirdness. macros 1 runs fairly quick the first time out (few seconds). Macros 2 takes about 2 minutes to run (which I'm fine with). However, when I run macros 1 AFTER running Macros 2, Macros 1 goes from taking a few seconds to a few minutes.

Apr 13, 2007how to use excel 4 macros. I do not even know where to put them. I have inherited some spreadsheets that have both Xcel 4 Macros and vba macros in them. (Well, I get a warning that I cannot switch them off when I disable macros on opening a workbook). I cannot even find the offending version 4 macros so that I can re-code them in VBA.

I am required to show the following.
If there is data in the cell then it is to be left. If there is no data in the cell then I would like to show the value 0.
I have tried using a circular reference, using the formula =IF(ISBLANK(B1),0,B1) and other similar formulas but they dont work as the formula overwrites the data in it.
do I need a macro?, or conditional formatting?
