Multiple Pivots With 1 Data Source

Oct 24, 2012

I have one single data source and need to create multiple piot tables with it.

But when I group dates for example, this applies to all Pivot Tables that share the same pivot cache.

Is there a quick way (VBA preferred) to duplicate an existing pivot table with a new pivot cache?

I know about the technique to open a new workbook and copy it there and back again, but it is really annoying.

One Filter For Multiple Pivots?

Aug 14, 2014

I have 2 separate pivots running off 2 separate data sources. The filters used for each or fairly similar (bar one entry).

Is there a way to have one filter that filters the information in both pivots even though they are not based on the same data source?

Also, with the filter that is slightly different; in one table, I have an option that shows (this is just an example) 'retail and end user' yet, in the other table these are two separate options.

Controlling Multiple Pivots

Aug 14, 2009

I am working on an excel sheet (2007) with about 8 pivots from the same data (huge db). The 8 pivots take a different cuts of data. One filter element is same across all pivots. (For instance let us say that filter is City names: with 10 different city values in it- NY, London, Chicago etc)

What I would like to do is have a system where I just chose NY in one place and all the 8 pivots should use NY as one of the filters and refreash the data accordingly.

What I am doing now is I got to each pivot, choose NY first and then refreash all for the data.

Multiple Pivots One Filter Etc

Oct 16, 2009

I am looking for a way to combine three pivot tables in to one. Basically, one sales rep will have data for the current month, the year to date, and the total year. I have to compile this data to one sheet, for 30 sales managers! The problem with running the pivot three times (once for monthly, year to date, and yearly) is that brands that aren't sold in the month are then left off the table, which leads to a mess that it takes far too long to clean up. I hope I've made this clear, but please check the attachments for a better idea of what I'm looking to do...

Multiple Pivots With The Same Row - How Do I Make Them Change At The Same Time

Oct 22, 2009

I'm using Excel 2003 for this project.

For example: -
I have 3 pivot tables with the same row 'Media' (TV, Neswpaper, Magazine) and each has count as the data field (number of people who read/watch) then each pivot has a different column, Region, age, ***.

If I change the row of the first pivot to only show TV, how do i code it so pivot 2 and 3 only show TV also? I may have upto 20 pivots inthe end.

I found the below code to do this for page fields but can't adapt to rows -

HTML Private Sub Worksheet_PivotTableUpdate(ByVal Target As PivotTable)
Dim ptTable As PivotTable, ptItem As PivotItem, vFields As Variant, lngField As Long
On Error GoTo ExitPoint
vFields = Array("filed1", "field2", "field3")

Application.EnableEvents = False
For lngField = LBound(vFields) To UBound(vFields) Step 1
For Each ptTable In ActiveSheet.PivotTables
If ptTable <> Target Then
With ptTable.PivotFields(vFields(lngField))
.CurrentPage = Target.PivotFields(vFields(lngField)).CurrentPage.Value
End With
End If
Next ptTable
Next lngField
ExitPoint:
Application.EnableEvents = True
End Sub

Select Date Range In Multiple Pivots

Jan 20, 2010

I'd like to select the start date & end date for multiple Pivots (on one sheet).
Expl. if I put in a date in the "Start Date" cell : 01/01/2010 and another date in the "End Date" cell : 15/01/2010. Then all the pivots on the sheet should only show the date between 01/01 and 15/01/2010.

The dates in the pivots are under column "Date".
I have a code but it only selects 1 pivot and it doesn't refresh the pivots when you change the dates selection.

Graph With Source Data On Multiple Lines

Apr 3, 2007

I have an excel worksheet that contains two sets of data. These numbers are then plotted onto a line graph to show the two sets of data against each other.

The graph is working fine, but only for a specific amount of data. The data is split into mutiple lines. From cells A1 all the way to BI1 is one row. I then have information in A4 to BI4. I would like to plot this information on a graph as a single continuous line. Is this possible?

Basically, My graph source is currently =Data!$A$2:$BI$3. This gives me two lines that I want. How do I get the data from A4:BI4 to join up to the first line in the graph.

Pivot Table Retains Old Source Data In Addition To New Source Data

Sep 7, 2006

I have a report that was created for 2005 that contains two worksheets: a "source data" worksheet and a " pivot table" worksheet. I cleared out the 2005 data in the "source data" worksheet and replaced it with 2006 data...after this I refreshed the Pivot Table and everything seemed fine. When looking at the file size I noticed that it was almost twice its original size....upon further investigation I found that the Pivot Table was internally holding onto the old source data (the "Show" functionality of the rows/columns in the table lists the 2005 row/column headers as well as the 2006 headers....even though no data from 2005 is shown in the Pivot Table).

Does anyone know how to purge the old data from the internal Pivot Table memory?

I hope this is enough information....let me know if you need more.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Jon

Update Source Data For Multiple Pivot Tables With VBA

Dec 16, 2013

The spreadsheet is comprised of 4 sales data sheets, one for each store. Each of these sales data sheets runs several pivot tables (One for dept sales, one for waste, one for sales on Selected UPCs etc) and I used to have 1 copy of each pivot table for each store (ie 24 pivot tables). Now I have found a way to have only 1 copy of each PivotTable which changes based on which store is selected using the following code:

Code:
Sheet13.PivotTables ("Top10LW").PivotTableWizard SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:= _
.List(.Value)

This works great however I was repeating it for every pivot table I had in the spreadsheet, causing messy code and file corruptions.

Is there any code which I can use for updating all pivot tables, using as minimal code as possible, all in one hit?

Multiple Pivot Tables - Single Table Of Source Data

Mar 9, 2014

I am trying to generate several pivot tables from one data source table. I have successfully created my first pivot table (A date field, and a water storage facility level reading) and subsequently a graph from this. I have worked out that I need to group my dates as I am supplied a daily reading, but only need monthly average. All worked great.

Now i need to create more pivot tables and graphs. The next one I want is to create one grouped by years. But when I create this new pivot table and change the grouping of the date field to yearly, it also changes the grouping on my first pivot table, which is undoing my work. How to tell excel that these pivots are independent, and I don't want them changing in unison? See screen grab of my source data and where I am up to...

Macro To Refresh Pivots Also Resets Chart Data Label Fonts

Aug 20, 2013

I have 6 pivot charts within a document. I use a macro associated with a button to refresh the tables and therefore the data displayed on the charts.

However, each time I refresh the data, the 'data label' font size also refreshes. What is particularly odd is that 5 of the charts are pie-graphs, of those 5 graphs, the font size only resets on 4 of them (with the data labels in a single chart staying at my desired font size).

I can manually put the font size back to that which I desire but I'd rather it just didn't change in the first place.

I've had a look to see if there's any noticeable differences between the 5 charts but there's nothing which I can find.

I'd be happy to run a bit of VBA to set the font size as I want it, if there isn't a better solution.

Change Pivot Source Data In Multiple Pivot Tables?

Jan 21, 2013

I have a single workbook with multiple worksheets. Each worksheet has a different pivot table displaying a different view of the data. Each pivot table uses the same source data at worksheet1.

Each week i add new data to the end of the source data, which means that I need change the source data reference separately in each pivot table to update each pivot table view to include the new data. This is laborious as there are quite a few pivot tables.

Was wondering if there is some way of changing the pivot table source data reference on all pivot tables at the same time.

ComboBox Control Source Update With Multiple UserForms

Oct 12, 2006

Excel – Forms – Combo Box, cell updating.

I have a form (the main one) which accesses a second form, which accesses a third form. All forms have a combo box, control button and a text box.

The items selected in the control boxes are entered into cells (the base cells) in the spreadsheet, via “Control Source”. The text boxes access these cells and show the selected items, which are then copied to other cells via a macro on activating the control button in the main form.

The main form stays open while other items are selected and transferred. Some of the items may not be changed (reselected) as they may be common. The problem is that after a number of items have been selected and transferred, the base cells for the second and third text boxes do not update after a selection from the combo boxes, and they continue to show a previously selected item.

The problem can be solved by closing the 2nd and 3rd forms and starting again. What can I do keep the cells updating without closing the form down?

Pivot Table To List Multiple Source Columns In Rows?

Jul 4, 2014

I have a huge data set with survey data (sample attached: sample.xlsx). Column headings: survey questions Row headings: respondent identifiers (names) Row data: answers to questions (numeric values, only five answer options 1,2,3,4 or 5, no blanks)

I need to build that kind of pivot table:

Rows - list of particular questions (i.e. questions no. 3, 7 and 12) Columns - list of all diffrent answer entries (eventually, it will be 1,2,3,4 and 5) - it could also be questions in columns and answers in row (no difference) Values - count answer entries (i.e. how many answers "5" are on quesiton 3)

------
UPDATE: explanation added.

The reason I need pivot tables: i'll have to cross analyze multiple sets of questions. I'll have to do such cross-analysis 100+ times, so, writing a formula for each time does not quite work...

Macro - Generating Multiple Sheets Using A Template And Source Workbook

Mar 20, 2014

I am new to the VBA editing and I am missing some steps to get my files correctly generated and then ideally saved in PDF format in the same folder.

I have two files; one is an invoice template with the following fields:

Invoice Reference: Line 8 column D
Issue date: Line 9 column D
Client name: Line 11 column E&F
Client address: Line 12 column E&F
Product name: Line 16 column E&F
Product details: Line 18 column E&F
Production date: Line 20 column E&F
Delivery date: Line 22 column E&F
Units: Line 24 column E&F
Total Units: Line 26 column E&F
Total Invoiced: Line 30 column F

Each sheet in the "template" workbook should be named after the Invoice Reference.

Secondly I have the source file in which the data is organized as follows: (Both are in the same folder)

Invoice Reference: column A
Issue date: column B
Client name: column C
Client address: column D
Product name: F
Product details: column G
Production date: column H
Delivery date: column I
Units: column J
Total Units: column J
Total Invoiced: column E

One invoice needs to be created per line in the source workbook. I tried many times the macro recording without getting the correct outputs.

Link And Change Source For Multiple Tabs From Excel To PowerPoint

Jan 18, 2012

I have to prepare a monthly presentation for my company. I have all financial data in multiple tabs in excel that have been linked to many powerpoint slides.

The problem is, I update the same excel sheet every month and save it with a different name. How can I change the source in powerpoint to select and update all the slides with all the corresponding tabs.

At present, I use Edit link (ALT+E+K) > Select each slide on the powerpoint> Change source to new excelfile. When I select all the sheets, the "change source" greys out. Hence I have to do it individually.

Excel 2007 :: VBA For Print Header For Multiple Sheets From One Source Sheet (but Not All)

Apr 18, 2013

I am working on a "3 worksheet" excel workbook. The first worksheet does not require any header.

I'd like to enter data into the second sheet (say cells A1 and B1), and use VBA to pull from those cells to generate the same custom header for both the second and third worksheets.

For example, I'd like the header to pull "# 123456" from cell A1, and "789" from B1 in sheet two, putting them in a centered header for both sheets two and three (same reference cells from sheet two for both, not new values of A1 and B1 from sheet 3 for sheet 3 header). I'd like to format in a way that looks something like this:

#123456

789

I'm currently running Excel 07, and was able to pull from a cell on one worksheet into that sheet's header but couldn't get it to span multiple sheets.

Add Data Monthly And Then Have To Manually Update The "source Data" To Reflect The Added Data On Chart

I have a column line chart to which I add data monthly and then have to manually update the "source data" to reflect the added data on chart. This is a rolling graph, which mean that I have to remove data for one month(from last year) and then include the new month's data. Is there any way on automating this process...like a macro or something, so once I add the data excel automatically removes one month of old data and make changes to include fresh data. Eg Currently chart is based on data from A2:F2 and I add new data to cell G2. I need something which automatically update the source data to cell B2:G2.
