Anyone know why the NETWORKDAYS() function will return a value of 1 if the start and end date are the same? Does the function always assume that the start_date is at 12:00AM and the end_date is at 11:59PM, because it seems to also show that there are 3 days between 11/04/08 and 11/06/08.
View 9 RepliesI use without problem the function =NETWORKDAYS(start_date;End_date;[holidays]) that calculate the distance between two dates overlooking Saturdays, Sundays and, if specified, other holiday days.
But is there any general kind of this function that allows the calculus for the “long work week” ( i.e considering Saturday as working day )? Or and More: If I would consider Fridays as holiday days?
Trying to automate the period part of the impt function
To calculate current value of loan i have the below formula below with the 3 being the current period
=IPMT(4.3%/12,3,5*12,-7000)/(4.3%/12)
What i would like to do is for the period to be self calcuating from current date and the loan start date. I can return a value in days using start date - today() and aware month function returns the month number but stuggling to find a way to work out cumulative month from the start date.
I am trying to return start and finish date of events depending on when resources are allocated.

If I enter I want all months >=1/1/07 and <=3/31/07 it would tell me that the months in between are January, February and March and so on with all dates.
I am trying to return a TRUE or FALSE based on a date in a cell.
for example:
if cell A1 = 07/11/2009
I want A2 to show TRUE or FALSE if A1 is 14 days or more behind todays date.
I have tried stuff like:
=IF(A1=TODAY()-14,"True","False")
but it just always says false. EDIT: I have just noticed that if I change the date in A1 to exactly 14 days behind todays, it returns TRUE. So, it does work. Do I need to add a GREATER THAN in there?
As everyone realizes that WORKDAY function can return a working date that exclude weekends and any dates identified as holidays. However, what if I want to return a working date excluding my designated holidays but including weekends?
For example,
Holidays are 1 Jun 2009, 2 Jun 2009 and 4 Jun 2009
Start Date: ???
Finish Date: 8 Jun 2009
Duration: 5 days
The Start Date should be 30 May 2009.
Seems like I am not able to use WORKDAY function to calculate the start date.
I need the VBA/UDF to produce a column of dates between a start date and end date, excluding Sundays.
I can see lots, excluding weekends, but very little for just Sundays.
In order to use the networkdays() function in a workbook im working on i need to get the Analysis ToolPak add-in installed on my pc.
Will this workbook function correctly if opened on a pc that does not have that particular add-in on it?
I have named range in column A = holfrom and another in column B = holtill
When I try to use NETWORKDAYS(holfrom;holtill) I get an error VALUE
Is it even possible to use this function with named ranges

I actually wanted to get a future date using a Dynamic two day off as my the offs keep on changing as well as incorporate Holidays and Leaves if any..
Now Holidays would be official Public Holidays and
Leaves would be taken by the employee..

My reference cells (start and end date) are in Sheet 1 while the destination cell range are in Sheet 2. The reason for creating a macro instead of a function is that the intervals between the start date and end date changes frequently (annual, semi-annual and quarterly) Best case scenario would be a button which I can just press after i input the dates to generate the range of dates in another sheet.

I'm trying to workout how to take a known initial date a repeating frequency and work out the next due date from today.
Example
Initial Date :- 1st of January 2014
Frequency :- every 5 weeks
Current Date :- 9th of March 2014
Next Due date should be :-12th of March 2014 (if I worked it out correctly from my paper calendar)

You can visualise this as a room booking system. The left most column is the dates and the first row represents the different rooms type. E.g. if one guest books the Twin Deluxe No. 123 room on 23 Oct 2006 until 25 Oct 2006. I have a program that requires the last 8 days to be total, unless there are 2 days off in a row. So my cells need to sum the previous 8, but then stop when two zeros show in the column and then restart following. One zero should continue to total the previous 8 days. As shown below, for 1/10/14 I should see 57.5. The sum needs to restart on 1/13/14 to show a total of 10.5. I have tried multiple formulas with no luck.

I am trying to return the first occurrence of a variable text string with-in brackets for all data on the spreadsheet using the "RIGHT" excel function, the text to search is in column D.
Example for cells D2 & D3 reads:
D2:Adv Costs (27a) - would return "27a"
D3:Designer Unit (60) (Base) (50abc) - would return "50abc"
I want to make a "return" button that follows the user from the start sheet to other sheets and acts as a "return to the start sheet" button. I tried just recording a macro and cut/pasting the button from one sheet to the next, but apparently when you do this the button name changes.
