I have a mass of data which look something like this:
table removed
and I require the ranges of reference numbers to be listed in a column one above the other, which requires inserting new rows. I also need the date & description columns copied down into the newly inserted rows.
So basically for example I would want the top row to now read:
table removed
and then apply the same procedure to the other ranges below this.
I'm trying to find out if there is a way to count a specific number from a cell that has multiple numbers in the cell. I have attached a worksheet.
Example, on the attached worksheet, I want to count how many 16's in column C and input that total number into G18. Then I want G19 to tell me how many 17's in Column C, then how many 18's in G20 and so on. I want to do this for all days in a month, 1 through 31. If there are no numbers, then "0" or a blank cell is ok. Not to concerned with zero's.
I would like to extract multiple numbers from a single cell. The cells contain -, /, and blank spaces are delimiters. An example is 4 - 3 1/4 and because of the way they use that number, it really means 4 inches and 3.25 fifths of an inch (3.25/5 inches) which is weird. I want to go through each cell and store the 4, 3, and 1/4 as variables so I can then manipulate to convert them to the proper inch value (I can perform the conversion code, I just need to know how to set those variables in the cell). And I would like it to automatically do it when a cell has been changed. formatting to maintain overall table width dimensions so if you know anything about that,
both cells are blank
4 - 3 1/4
cell value is enter in on the left
4 - 3 1/4 4.65 converted cell value appears on the left
I built an Excel Macro to pull information from my schedule and compile it within another Worksheet. The Macro below searches for an instance of "Unavailable" and then populates my Data Worksheet with the WeekDays (ie: M-W-F or ALL Week), the Details (ie: Vacation or Training) and the Name of the employee. I struggled with a way to populate my employee name as "unavailable" isn't always offset by the same amount of characters to employee name (as it is with WeekDays and Details). Instead, I collected the row in which "Unavailable" was found.
I used the Vlookup function to populate the number of Absences and it worked swell.
=VLOOKUP(C2,O:P,2,FALSE)
C2 is populated with Weekdays (ie: ALL week or M-W-F) O contains a list of possible day combinations P contains the number of days
I hoped to use a similar function to populate my employee names. This didn't work well a 'tall.
I need to extract numbers from excel cells. For eg-
BAR TBG 04.00X02.25X26.50 1340 HRN SMLS SPEC. ES4.38694
^^^ This is one of the cells. I need to pull out 04.00, 2.25, 26.50, 1340 into different cells from one given cell.
I have tried using =MID() function, but I need to make changes into that formula everytime the position of first numeric letter changes while I go along a column. And I need to make changes into it as I go along the row.
It is taking me a lot of time in extracting numbers from one cell into different cells and I am afraid that I will spend the rest of my life getting this stuff done.
At work, we've got a program that outputs the results of a search into an Excel file, in column 1 below.
17,43,61,63 17 43 61 63
23,29,53,57,77,79 23 29 53 57 77 79
17,29,63,69,71,75,79 17 29 63 69 71 75 79
11,43 11 43
57 57
I need to get that list of numbers listed out to the right, with one number per cell. The list in column one could possibly contain from 1 to 20 numbers, and the last number is always without the comma after it.
I have a list of part numbers which repeat when there are multple prices they were sold at. For each unique part number I need one median price. The list if of about 500 parts but with the various different prices the file is 3700 rows. How can i do this quickly? For each unique part number I need one median price.
I'm going to be using a spreadsheet to keep track of where different people are at. So if Person 1 is in Room 3, I will stick a 3 in the box next to their name and then can look at the spreadsheet whenever I need and see what room they are in. When I'm deciding what room to put a person in, though, I need to be able to quickly glance at a list of Room #'s and see what one's are still available. So I have a bank of Room #'s in the spreadsheet....1,2,3, etc.
What I'd like, is some way to set this up so that when I put, for example, "3" in the cell next to "Person 1" the spreadsheet automatically removes "3" from the bank of available Room #'s and when I delete the "3" because the person has left, it adds "3" back to the bank of available Rooms.
I am looking for a formula to grab only the numbers withing a cell that has text in it i.e (John Peters142 lp) or (Sally Jones54) or (Terry Cram310 jkb) sometimes there will be text after the number and sometimes not, the format is as shown with no space between name and number but a space after the number.
I need the " solutions cells " to match to the " source cells " and return a " yes " or " no ". in cells d4:d10. Ex: #1 cell C4=01234598, it will conduct a search & match of cell A5 which contains the number 123, since cell C4 contains all 3 numbers from cell A5, then the formula would result in a " Yes ". The match has to contain all 3 numbers from the solution cells to the source cells.
Ex: #2 cell C7=67891234, it will conduct a search & match of cell A8 =901. Since cell C7 only contains the 9&1 from cell A8, it would return a " No " because cell C7 did not contain all 3 numbers from cell A8. I'm not sure if the IF, Match, Index or Count formula is the right one to use, they all seem to partially work, but still don't complete this problem.
multiple numbers and text are in single cell which are separated through spaces or comma, is there any formula which can bypass text and add all the numbers in the cell.
For example:
red 12, yellow 10, green 5 27 red 3, blue 9 12 yellow 21, blue 3 24
How to sum dollar amounts in one column as they relate to two other columns. The two green columns (Account & Dept.) need to correspond to the appropriate dollar amount (Total Transaction Amount) and then the dollar amount needs to be summed under each Dept # as it relates to the Account #. As you can see you can have different Depts. for the same Account.
I want to do a VLookup from another sheet to but the problem is that where a patient had 2 or more procedures as in the case of pin # 6704 and 6780 above - I would have a second or third set of columns along side each other to show the different procedures.
I have had a look at FAQs and some of the threads but I can't seem to find one that actually sums up numbers from the various workbooks.
I have 15 workbooks all formatted the same, and a parent workbook, again with the exact same format. I would like to consolidate the numbers in one cell in the 15 workbooks to appear as one number in the parent (in the same cell ref).
E.G. wb1 has 150 in cell A1 wb2 has 75 in cell A1 wb3 has 25 in cell A1 wb4 has 100 in cell A1
The parent workbook should have 350 in cell A1 after the macro is run.
I have a spreadsheet where I want to match the PO info with the invoice info. I want to match the cost center, location, PO number, item number and the price.
Period Cost Center Account Item No PO No Amount Test
As you can see in that the formula is showing the first 4 rows with a difference even though that the difference is in the first two. How can i fix this?
My second question, on the lines with the 989.04 difference, how can I make the same formula to say "Fix the account" or to fix the column with discrepancy
I have a sheet(s) that have numbers as text. I need to convert them to numbers...Each of the four sheets have four columns of different lengths and different column numbers.
Multiplying them by one will convert them, but I want to do it efficiently.
Was thinking maybe a "change by value" formula in the worksheet with a "dim" and a "Loop" ....
I have a column titled PA that has several cells with numbers, like 141, 151, 161, 242, 251, 382 etc. Is there a way that I can replace all these numbers in the column using a vba code. For example, replacing all the numbers beginning with 1** to 1 and 2** to 2.
My workbook contains 30 worksheets with identical layout, named 01 to 30. I'm trying to count the number of sheets in which the value of cell B12 is less than 0.6, using the following formula:
=countif('01:30'!B12,"<0.6")
However, it returns a #VALUE error, although it works fine on a range of cells on the same worksheet. Does Countif not work across multiple sheets? If not, is there another way to achieve the required result?
I would like to be able to use VBA to add a total amount from different worksheets. What I have attached is a copy of my workbook. It is a blank PO and at the bottom is the word total. Is there any way that I could use VBA or an add in to be able to sum the numbers that are adjacent to the word total on separate worksheets?copy.xlsm
I have 2 spreadsheets with many rows (in the tens of thousands) and columns (about 20 or so) of data.
I am trying to take the ID# from one spreadsheet and append it to the other, based on a name match. Typically I would use a vlookup, but, in this instance, most companies appear more than once and they often have many different ID#s associated with them. I am looking to return each unique ID# that is associated with each company, and display them horizontally next to that company's name.
Since this is including a lot of private data, I have included a small, generic example of what I am looking to search off of and output. Sample Spreadsheet.xlsx
I have seen examples of how to return multiple values using index functions, but, they all seem to only be able to handle one name at a time, and it displays the values vertically from that. Since I am trying to do this for thousands of rows of data, this won't work for me. I need to be able to have a function/formula of some sort that I can apply to each and every of the thousands of rows of data simultaneously. And, on top of that, I'd like to be able to display the 2nd, 3rd, etc ID#s for each company in additional columns of data.
I am looking for a formula which will sum numbers with less than symbols in front of them (i.e. they are text cells), and then replace the less than symbol again in the summed cell if initially present. The problem is that not every cell contains a < symbol, some of them are just numbers, and not every column contains a < symbol either.
e.g. I am looking for a formula which if entered in row 5 of this example would give these answers.
I have unit measures that are converted across four columns (FT, SQFT, SQM and SQY).
THere are three units in rows (BOX, Skid and Roll). I am trying to identify in a column labeled "Duplicate Volume" with a formula stating "YES" if there are duplicate numbers (volumes) in any of the four conversion columns listed above. I tried to attach an excel file here but the system will not accept it. Hopefully the diagram i make below will be enough to understand the concept:
I have a spreadsheet with a list of about 3800 lines of dollar values in "K" that correspond to various serial numbers in "E".
These serial numbers come up multiple times at different place throughout the 3800 lines.
I know by using SUMIF I can calculate the total value of each serial number, but is there a way to bring the serial numbers across to correspond to the sum of the dollar values?
1) If there is a zero (null) value in all 3 months, these records should be at the bottom sorted by record name (I did not show this field in my file). 2) If there is a non-zero (non-null) value in any of the 3 months, the records will be sorted with each other by total change.
Is there a way to do this without me doing sorts multiple times and manually moving rows of data around (which is what I have done to arrive at the list I have attached)? I am not experienced with VBA or Macros, and would prefer a detailed explanation if a solution is using either method.
