Identifying Duplicate Numbers In Same Row In Multiple Columns
Jun 9, 2014
I have unit measures that are converted across four columns (FT, SQFT, SQM and SQY).
THere are three units in rows (BOX, Skid and Roll). I am trying to identify in a column labeled "Duplicate Volume" with a formula stating "YES" if there are duplicate numbers (volumes) in any of the four conversion columns listed above. I tried to attach an excel file here but the system will not accept it. Hopefully the diagram i make below will be enough to understand the concept:
I have 2 columns I need to compare, in column A a list of ref numbers aprrox 62000 rows, with some duplicates. In column C a list of ref numbers 38000 rows again with some duplicates.
I need to be able to compare Column C to Column A. I need to identify the first instance of a ref number that matches from C to A so that I can delete it. The second instance of this ref number I would like keep. I have tried the following with no luck.
I realise there are a few threads on similar topics but I can't seem to get any of them to work for my scenario. I have two columns with a list of numbers in each. I'm after a function that will scan column A and identify any numbers that also appear in column B. If possible I would like it to then generate a list of these in say, column C.
I am looking for the easiest way to find duplicate Work Order numbers that exist in 2 separate Workbooks. EX. Workbook 1 Sheet one contains the numbers 1-100 in A1:A100 Workbook 2 Sheet one contains X amount of the numbers between 1-100 located.
somewhere in A:A. For arguments sake let's assume those numbers are 3,6,33,87,99. What would the formula be to return the values that are in both of the workbooks?
I have a list of "GPC" or company identification numbers. And for every campaign being sent to the company it will have the same GPC of identification code. I want a formula that indicates if it is the first time mailing the company (as a result return nothing for column D ""), the second time mailing them, third, or fourth. So basically I need a formula to find the duplicate values and return whether it is the first, second, third, or fourth time that code appears in column A.
The current formula I have is a little off because it checks against the cell beforehand. I'm not sure how to modify the formula or what different forumla I need. Attached is an example. I am looking at column A and trying to return the data in D. You can also see the faulty formula I currently have in place.
with creating this macro to identify duplicate text strings in a column, which is great.
But, I'd like to be able to identify them by changing the text of the subsequent duplicates that are found.
For example, if 3 cells in a column are 1111, I'd like to add a string of text to the end of the 2nd & 3rd cell, but not the 1st cell. 1111 dup-1111 dup-1111-dup
This will enable me to sort the column and find the duplicate easier than just visually.
Sub color_dup() Dim r As Range, rng As Range, Col As String Col = "d" Set rng = Range(Col & ":" & Col) rng.Interior.ColorIndex = 0 For Each r In Range(Col & "1", Range(Col & "65536").End(xlUp)) If Application.CountIf(rng, r) > 1 Then r.Interior.ColorIndex = 6 End If Next End Sub
my spreadsheet has duplicate serial numbers in column A and the corresponding row in column B has mutliple descriptions for the same serial number. I need to combine those descriptions into 1 cell rather than having multiple rows for the same serial number. is there an IF formula that I can combine with a concatenate that will capture what I need?
how i can set 'Data Validation' to stop me from entering duplicate values across multiple columns, i can set it for a single column i.e. A1 to A100 but i am after this but for something like A1 to H100.....?
I am currently using this formula in Data Validation: =COUNTIF($A$1:$A$100,A1)=1
I need something to do this but for multiple columns.
I'm on Excel 2003 and have a sheet to track people who have read my emails. I want to know the answers to the questions below. I've included a fake sample to show what I'm looking at. The number of cells in each column is much higher and not the same per column. I've tried variations of MATCH, VLOOKUP, SUMPRODUCT, etc. but haven't found a good way to set up a formula.....
I am not sure if Excel is able to do this but basically I am looking to find out which rows have some duplicate values. I have just read this back and it doesn't make a great deal of sense so I have attached an example spreadsheet.
Basically I am looking to find if E1:G1 duplicates further on down the list, hope this makes a bit more sense with the example attached.
For my job I have to take hundreds of codes and compare them to other codes. For example, in column A I'll have 453 codes, in column B I'll have 352 and in column 97. I want to find common codes for all three columns. Sometimes, I'll have just two columns and sometimes it's multiple columns. I have tried a few formulas but nothing works that well. Any formulas or MACRO
I have a few hundred word files that I'm porting tables from. I initially imported every table into excel and figured out which table numbers I needed the data from. I only needed certain rows/columns from certain tables.
The code I have works great....if all the word files were the exact same. However, it appears that when different people edited the word documents, for whatever reason, a handful out of the 300 had their tables switched. So in some cases I'm looking for table 5, other times it could be table 6.
My question: Is there a way to identify the tables by text they contain? for example, the table 5/table 6 comment above, in all cases That table has a header cell called "Equipment". Basically I need something like:
"If CurrentTable contains "Equipment" Then set tableNo = CurrentTable" but I'm not sure how to do that.
In the code below wdDoc is a specific word document. tableNo is the variable set to identify which table to import from. I end up pulling data from three different tables that I would need to search for, each with a specific header.
Code: With wdDoc tableNo = wdDoc.tables.Count tableTot = wdDoc.tables.Count If tableNo = 0 Then MsgBox "This document contains no tables", _ vbExclamation, "Import Word Table"
I'm looking for a Conditional Formatting formula that will check two columns before highlighting the duplicate rows. I need it to be conditional formatting because I know nothing about writing macros or vba (what-ever that is?). Data is entered into Columns A, B, and C. I need to check both column A and C before it highlights the duplicates, based on those two columns. (The format only unique or duplicate values checks only one column.) I have attached an example, but this is just an example, as I have hundreds of lines to go through on the original. (For this example, Row 2 and Row 7 are the duplicates I need highlighted.)
I have a data set which has 6 columns (and lots of rows). Every row is different but I want to aggregate them based on 4 fields and then find the average of the numerical column for the results. I basically want to Group based on 4 fields and find the average of the 5th field.
My initial approach was to introduce a column which is a combination of the 4 fields I want to group by, simply in the Excel file (=A2&B2&C2&D2) and then find duplicates of that. I have a solution for this in VBA but when importing new data sets in this method is very slow, so I want to be able to do the whole thing in VBA.
formula to identify consecutive numbers in order, but having trouble figuring out how to identify consecutive numbers in random order.
Cell M1,N1,O1,P1, and Q1 each have a number, 1,4,9,3 and 7.
We have 3 and 4 being consecutive number but they are not in order, would like help in a formula to put a 1 on an empty cell S indicating that there is a consecutive number with a 1 if there are no consecutive numbers then it would give a 0.
The current formula only works if the consecutive numbers are in order, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, etc...
My Excel program (Excel 2010) currently has several columns and each column looks for and pulls data from a specific file on my computer. Then I need to delete any duplicate data entries, count the number of unique entries and track the changes through a chart. I have everything done except I cannot figure out (or find on the internet) a way to search in multiple columns (more than 2) and delete just the duplicate cells. I want to delete the cells in a way where there is one left. For example if the code 12gf is duplicated three time, I want to be left with one 12gf (it doesnt matter what column the original one is left in). Additionally, column length changes and they are not sorted. I have attempted to attach an image of an example file below.
I'm trying to identify duplicates with a return of "True" or "False". The attached workbook has column F for results (to read PI2 A if in column L, PI2 B if in column R or Both), but I want to query if everyone in column E is in column L or is in Column R and if so which one.
I have a column titled PA that has several cells with numbers, like 141, 151, 161, 242, 251, 382 etc. Is there a way that I can replace all these numbers in the column using a vba code. For example, replacing all the numbers beginning with 1** to 1 and 2** to 2.
Where Excel can compare the date and times of each row and look for matching rows above and below it and then fill in a column next to it indicating that x number of rows are linked to a single transaction - preferably labelling them in some order to I can tell how many transactions there are.
1) If there is a zero (null) value in all 3 months, these records should be at the bottom sorted by record name (I did not show this field in my file). 2) If there is a non-zero (non-null) value in any of the 3 months, the records will be sorted with each other by total change.
Is there a way to do this without me doing sorts multiple times and manually moving rows of data around (which is what I have done to arrive at the list I have attached)? I am not experienced with VBA or Macros, and would prefer a detailed explanation if a solution is using either method.
Maybe this has been taken care of in another thread, but still:
ROW ID NUM OCC K OCC I 1 222222 0 0 2 222222 0 0 3 4 333333 0 0 5 333333 0 0 6 333333 0 0 7 8 444455 1 1 9 444455 1 1
I have a situation like above, but what I want to do is:
=FOR(ROW1:ROW9, IF COUNT ROWS(ID_NUM)>= 2,
(create name for set?)
IF OCC_K AND OR OCC_I VALUES >= 0,
THEN DELETE ROWS(within set) >=2
Or more simply:
If there are rows with multiple Accident ID numbers, name that set, and if OCC_K and/or OCC_K values are BOTH >= 0, then delete all duplicate rows?
Yes I figure there needs to be some way to distinguish Row 1 from Row 2, (flagging one of the two?) so that ROW 2 can be identified, and similarly with Row 4 from Row 5 from Row 6, but the general flow of commands is what I'm trying to get at.
Is it also possible to use AND and OR in the same line? Or BOTH?
(I have other variations on this that I also like to ask about, such as multiple rows within a set that meet certain conditions that are identified in a different field, but for now this is a simpler version.)
I would like to think I'm not going to need a macro, and that I can do this in a Formula.
I have a range of columns i.e. 23 columns (i.e. B through X). Someone can write records in these columns (starting from B21).
Duplicates are considered the rows with similar data in columns 3 and 11. I know about the removeduplicate method and works really well but i want the duplicates not to be removed. Instead another column shall be checked for date of entry (user will entry date in format dd/mm/yyyy). The newest entry will change the value of the cell in column 4 (islatest column)to TRUE while all other records will be FALSE. This will work with the filtering of data on a pivot table on another worksheet.
