Position Flashing Cursor At The End Of String In Textbox
Oct 15, 2013
I have a choice of 9 command buttons on a form that enter a short string of text into a textbox. Each button enters a different string into the textbox. The string is the prefix to a product serial number. Once the user has clicked the button & entered his preferred prefix I would like the cursor to be flashing after the last character ready for the user to manually type in the remainder of the product serial number. I'm guessing (with my limited ability) that I have to create a function to do this & then call the function when the button is clicked ?
I am working with a VBA userform and several textbox's, setting SetFocus and or TabIndex doesn't leave the box ready to accept input and there is no cursor shown to indicate it is ready to accept input.
1-Using the Date-Time data in cell “T3” find the cell in column “A” that has the same Date and time.
2-Position the cursor in column I of the same Row. 3-End
In the example giving the Date-Time in “T3” is: 07/03/2008 17:15:00. The Cell in column “A” that has this same Date-Time is: “A97”. The cursor should then be positioned in Cell “I97”.
In Excel VBA Userform, how to copy the text from textbox automatically when the cursor is being moved from the textbox. And when i put CTRL+V then the copyed text has to be pasted.
The user has multiple Excel documents available [which all contain this macro, as they were generated from the same template by a third-party software (LabView)].
The user is already working on a Word document, typing text until he decides that he wants to add some information from one of the Excel sheets. To do this, he changes to Excel, clicks on the button running the script, and the required information is pasted into the Word document at the present cursor position.
how can i define, in vba that after click on button in sheet1, it looks at value in cell B1 in this sheet and move my cursor exactly on this value in sheet2 where i have data in range (B4:C6000).
trying to find the value of column A (date field) if it exists on the row that the cursor is presently on. I'm trying to check for the value before performing the next function to make sure the user is on a valid row. Cursor could be on any column A to F. Columns are always 6 but the rows can vary.
To accomplish whats in the title, I tried (and think I used successfully previously) the following
With tbfind .SelStart = 0 .SelLength = Len(.Value) .SetFocus End With
Some details, i have a userform named Findform, a textbox in it named tbFind, and the above code is in the userform initialization event section.
Oh also, I dont get any error, everything runs just fine, its just the cursor is not inside the textbox waiting for typing in it. (but i do think it is the focus, when i press tab it goes to the next one in the tab order)
I've set a validation within my userform to force the user to enter in a valid employee ID or a general kiosk #. The validation is working, but the setFocus line I have added to place the cursor back in the textbox in the event the value entered was incorrect isn't working. The cursor is moving on to the next textbox making the user have to re-click on the text box in order to correct the invalid entry.
Am I placing my setFocus line in the wrong place of the code? FYI - The second setFocus is working correctly. When the user enters 9999 it directs them to the IT Ticket number text box. Prior to me moving the textbox, the cursor would jump all other text boxes to allow the user to enter in a ticket number within the ticket number box after entering 9999 within the PERNR text box.
I'm having some trouble setting up my Userform. It's used for someone to insert a password to open up some sheets. I have it working except for 2 problems.
First off it gets started by a sub which has a shortcut key, CTRL + W.
When it opens I would like the TextBox to be ready to be typed on... and I would like the submit button ready for Enter. So when it opens, you just type in the password really quick and press enter without using the mouse at all.
The TextBox starts on the first try, but when I press cancel and then open the UserForm up again, then the cancel command is still selected and I have to select on the textbox.
There is 3 things on this userform... TextBox1, CommandButton1, CommandButton2. All I want is for the TextBox always to show up ready for typing, and the Submit(CommandButton1) to always be ready to press enter.
how to get rid of the blinking cursor in a text box. I made a splash screen, added a text box, increased the font size to maximum, and when I run it there is a maximum sized blinking cursor at the end of the line of text. Just looks bad on the splash screen. Is there a hide cursor command that I can use? Or is there a better way to add text that I (obviously) didn't use?
When a userform textbox value is changed, if the vertical scrollbars were shown previously (due to more text than displayed size) and is still required for new value, how do you reset the scrollbar/textbox value back to the top (if it was previously scrolled down by the user). If teh scrool bar is no longer required for new value (due to sufficient space to display new value without scrollbars), how do you remove/hide the scrollbar again until needed.
Is it possible to find the location of different characters in a string (using VBA)? Normally I would use InStr of InStrRev option in VBA but my situation is a little more complicated.
The character I am looking for is not always the same, sometimes it is a , or a . or a : or a "blank" etc
I tried to do it like: dim strChar as string strChar = "[,.? /]"
SearchPosition = InStr ("cell location", strChar) (searchposition is the name of the function I am trying to make)
This works if I define only 1 character, this way it gives me a 0 as outcome
I have tried to change it to strChar = "[,]" or strChar = "[.]" or strChar = "[ ]" but this doesn't work.
I need to find a way to find the first nonzero character in the string, and what position it is in. For instance, in the above example, 2 is the first non-zero character, so the function would return 5, since the 2 is the fifth character into the string.
I am trying to work out how to get nth position of a character in a string. For example in this
Code:
kjishdfiuayigdscka if I use the formula Code: =FIND("i",I$1),
it will give me answer 3. But I want the position of 3rd "i" in the string. The answer should be 12. How can I change this formula to get the correct result?
Title should read: Finding the nth Occurrence of a character within a text string
I have a very long text string that is delimited by about 50 "/" to segment certain values within the text string. I want to be able to extract the text between the 33rd and 34th occurrence of "/". How to do this?
I have been confronted with an issue that has bugged me: Now do I extract a part of the string according to lets say "markers"?
Here is what I mean:
I use the code below to get the bottom range of my tables:
Code:
blimit = Activecell.Address
I haven't had problems because my tables were small, then I would:
Code:
blimit = Right(blimit, 3)
If the table was small there was no problem, since lets say the Activecell.Address = "$C$123", resulting in blimit = 123.
My how do I extract a part of the string, knowing I have 2 "$" ? That way I would make a version of this that always works.
I cannot use FIND or any formulas I am aware of since they all start counting from Right to Left... I thought of using Replace() to get the first "$" and change it for something else like "-" then looking for the second "$". But Replace() basically changes both signs... making my idea... well obsolete...

I'm trying to add a textbox at the current position (selected cell) with a set size, fill color, and border color. I found this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...8(VS.80).aspx:
I am using a macro that copied a string from another app, and I would like to know if there is a way to remove the sign "_" (underscore) before it paste to the TextBox1?
I declare the textbox as : TextBox1.Value = DATA
When the macro run, it takes the info from the app and send the string DATA to the TextBox1.Value, however there is ugly _ from the data. I want to be able to remove that sign right after it paste into the TextBox1.
