View 1 RepliesWhere I can find a sample of an Excel Quiz question randomizer. I am attempting to create a multiple choice quiz with the capacity to randomly select 40 questions from a total selection of 120 questions.
I've got a handle on creating the questions but I'm struggling with the randomization part.
I have a table in excel that i need to use to mark a 20 question quiz. I have the correct answers in one column and the students answers in the next column. I want to mark a correct answer with 1 and an incorrect answer with 0 marks. I know how to use IF, however the students answers can vary eg, correct answer could be B and D but the student writes B + D. Is there any way of marking this correct even tho it is not exactly written out correct?

I have a project report, which is user-configurable, allowing the user to customise the data that is displayed based on a number of parameters.
To ensure the report always prints neatly (the number of visible columns and rows varies, depending on the above parameters), so I have a macro that dynamically sets the print area of the worksheet.
At present, I call the macro from the workbook.beforeprint event, which works fine in terms of printing. Ideally however, I would like the macro to be called when CTRL+P is first pressed - i.e. the resulting 'print screen', containing a preview of the print out should reflect what will subsequently be printed, when the 'Print' button is then pressed.
I am not sure if this makes sense (Excel 2010 and 2013 are different from previous versions).
i was wondering if there is a way to display a pop up message that a stating that the spreadsheet is currently updating.
What i have is a macro running on Auto_Open when workbook is opened. I have switch off the screen updating. What i want now is for maybe to have a pop up stating the spreadsheet is updating. Setting screen updating to false means that my excel freezes for a few seconds. I think users might be thinking that excel has crashed and therefore would like to include the message that the spreadsheet is updating its information.
I have place a camera-picture of a table on the right side of a chart. On the screen it looks great! (See below - with some redaction)

.... but when I print it the table expands off of the side of the chart. Scale is 100%, zoom is 100%, Excel 2010 (See below - with some redaction). Whether or not I have a print area does not seem to make a different in the problem. Also, it appears that this happens with any shape I put in that place, it's not specific to the camera tool.

I had a spreadsheet with 17 photos on, one in each cell. I had to resize so you can see them all on the screen. If you have some pictures that are resized to fit in cells, is there any way to double click (or hover?) them and make them actual size or full screen when you want to view them in detail?

How do I restore the view that shows the sheet numbers at the bottom?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've have a tool/code that takes the screen prints of the active window (when I press F9) and pastes it in a word document.
But whenever I do copy some text or any other image and when I press F9 to take the screen print of the active window. I get the text pasted into the word, this is because the clipboard content has text first and then the screen print of the active window.
Instead When I press F9, I wanted the below to happen
1. Content from the Clipboard should be cleared
2. Take the screen print
3. Paste it in the word document.
Note: My tool/code already does 2 and 3. Looking for 1 alone, ,
I'm just looking to prevent users from using the print screen or the alt print screen buttons on the keyboard. I have this script that works if I use "39" (Right Arrow)but wont work if I use "42" (Print Screen Button).

Basically, I'm trying to generate a list of say, 1000 numbers within a range. I can already do this using the rand() function. However, I need excel to take each random number, apply it into a formula, and then list the answers in a seperate location. This would be easy to do if there was one simple function (which i could just insert into any adjacent cell). The problem is that each random number value is input into a table. The table, which has about 10 columns and 200+ rows, gives one final answer.
I'm sure there has to be a faster way than creating 1000 tables for each random number generated.
Let's say I have a list of 1000 random numbers in sheet 1. the function table is in sheet 2 and produces the answer in the same sheet, in a single cell. I'd like excel to use each random number generated, input it into the function table, attain the answer from the table, and list it in the cell next to the random number.
I'm trying to get a random prize draw working with in excel. My worksheet structure as follows.
A1 person's name
B2 points obtain by the person.
A1 B2
John 10 points
Ken 20 points
Amy 30 points
1st draw. If random number result between 1 and 10 display John wins then delete John's entries.
2nd draw etc... and delete anyone that has already won a prize.
With the following code I found on this forum it partly works. It only randomly select a cell but missing displaying the winner and removing it afterwards.

Im looking to create random data for an athlete over about 4 months with daily tests, however when im using the =randbetween(*,*) function the data is too 'Random'. so im looking to create a trend in the data, like real athletes will have. is there a function in Excel 2010 that can do this?
The boundaries of the data are -336,416 (i know its quite a big range)
I want to generate random times in excel between upper and lower limits , which i can do , but i also want dates in same cells with out randomization , means dates should act independently and time should randomize
it should be something like that

I am working on a Random Cycle Count Generator that provides random SKU#s based on 3 separate columns of SKU listings. The user clicks a button to generate the SKU#s to cycle count for that day. What I would like to see is a date stamp in the columns next(B,D,F) to the referenced SKU listing(A,C,E) based on which SKU#s are generated. This will let me see the last date that the SKU was generated. I would also like it to automatically save after generating.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create challenge/response cards. Each card will have a 5-digit number in the upper-left and lower-right corner along with a series of rows containing a line number and 3 pairs of challenge/response words.
Rather than have have copies of these cards, I want the central office to have a macro-enabled workbook wherein they can enter the two numbers from the card and have the challenge/response matrix regenerate on a worksheet.
So, essentially, I want the challenges random number generator seeded from one of the 5-digit numbers and the responses random number generator seeded from the other 5-digit number.
I am trying to use
Code:
Randomize(Seed)
where Seed is one of the 5-digit numbers.
The problem appears to be that, no matter what I use for Seed, the RND(-1) function is not resulting in different numbers.
I am using Excel 2007 and Excel 2010.
i have a problem in that i need to generate a random 6 digit number preceeded by an X if the data in column B is either blank or 0. This needs to be filled in if the adjacent cell in column C has data in. i am a moderate macro writer and am finding this part quite challenging.

I need to plot various data on top of stock charts.
This data could be irregular in date: it could be weekly, or simply random.
To plot this data by itself requires a Scatter Chart.
From what I know so far, you CANNOT DO THIS.
However, I suspect this could be done if I build a Stock Chart from scratch using a Scatter Chart.
Error bars can be used to make the tails, however, I don't know how they built the body bar which has the characteristics of a bar (border, and interior.)
But since I don't really need those two characteristics, I just need a wider error bar line that is provided in the chart edit window. I'm guess through a macro, there are wider line widths assignable.
I did the restart our company required and when Excel reopened it was on my laptop rather than the big screen. I run 2 screens. Excel 2003 is now so far up on the laptop screen, I cannot move it. I can barely see File, Edit, View, etc. How can I drag Excel down so I can resize it?
