View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a list of data, integer values ranging from 0 to 36. Imagine a Roulette wheel. The list is long, with over one hundred data points. I would like to view the first 14 data points, and count how many times each value occurs. How many 0's? How many 1's? How many 2's?...How many 36's?
Obviously, many values will have 0 occurrences. Most will have 1 occurrence, some 2, and maybe one or two will have 3 occurrences. I doubt we will see a value with 4 or more occurrences, but it is possible. With this accomplished, I will then note the results. So, that accomplishes the first 14 data points, call them 1-14.
Then, I want to move down the list 1 data point, and repeat the process. So, here I am looking at data points 2-15. Basically, it's the same set of data, with the first point missing, and a new point added on. I will then note the results. I want to continue doing this until the last 14 are viewed.
I want to isolate text on either side of dashes ( " - " ) that occur either 2 or 3 times in a single cell.
Example:
Apples - Pears - 99 - 100+ years
Bananas - 56 - 57+ years
In particular, I would like to capture the "99 - 100+ years" and "56 - 57+ years" text on its own.
I tried this " =SUBSTITUTE(A1, "*- ", "", 1) but it doesn't work
I am attempting to create a formula that will count the number of times, lets say letter A, occurs in column E. However, the tricky part that I have been confused on is that I only want to count how many times A occurs between each hour of the day. I need to count number of times "A" occurs between each hour of the day for the entire month.
My Worksheet looks as such: Column A contains the dates for the month of November, Column B contains times that random instances occur, Column C is not important, Column E contains a Letter A-N that pertains to what occurred at a time in column B. SO, Column B and column E coordinate with each other.
Here is an example. Column A - Cell A1 - 11/01/2013 , A2 - 11/02/2013, A3 - 11/03/2013.
Column B - Cell B1 - 12:01 AM , Cell B2 - 14:03 , Cell B3 - 15:23
Column C - Cell E1 - A , Cell E2 - A, Cell E3 - B
So I would like Column F to display that between 12:00 - 12:59 Am there was X number of times the letter A occurred throughout the entire month.

I am trying to figure out a difference in hours between date & times.
Cell & Info:
A1 = 07/12/2008
A2 = 02:00:00
A3 = 07/12/2008
A4 = 04:00:00
So in cell A5 i want the difference which is: "02:00:00"
but i dont know how to include the data in the formula....
etc if:
A1 = 07/12/2008
A2 = 01:00:00
A3 = 08/12/2008
A4 = 01:00:00
A5 should be = "24:00:00"..
I've got a spreadsheet with several rows and the numbers within those rows are totalled up at the bottom. Is there a way where i can highlight the cell within the spreadsheet and it takes it off the accumulative total at the bottom? or something similar to this effect? I just don't want to have to remove figures from this spreadsheet and highlighting will be a good way of seeing what has been done

Suppose I have a named range somewhere in my workbook called "TeamsRanked".
This range contains hundreds of names. The data associated with each of these names appears in a table in the workbook in rank order. The teams are ranked in descending order according to points scored. This means that the ROW() for the HIGHER-Ranked teams will be LOWER than the ROW() for the LOWER-Ranked teams. Also, this named range is constantly being resorted as updated data is introduced.
Now...Suppose I want to monitor just a few of the names??
For example: Cells A1:A3 on a separate worksheet contain the names of the teams I want to monitor.
What formula do I need in Cell A5 to return the HIGHEST ranked of the teams in Cells A1:A3??
...in Cell A6, to return the next highest ranked.
...in Cell A7, to return the LOWEST ranked.
I tried some IF(ROW(MATCH...)) ---"is less than" ---IF(ROW(MATCH...)) formulas...and I keep getting INVALIDs in my formula palette.
I learnt that " " & can combine the text and figure. However, when it comes to a negative numbers, i dont know how to maneouver it. Eg, Cell A1 is USD(50,000.00) and the comment in Cell B1 is Cost is USD(50,000.00). So the function in B1 = "Cost is "& what to put here?

(If the two 119s were not tied, they would have been assigned the ranks 2 and 3, yielding a mean of 2.5.) My list looks like this:

I need to rank a list that is not continious. I have used the rank function before but its always been in list of numbers.
How do i get the rank to work for example, I only want to rank on cells: B3, B6, B8, B10
What I want to do is rank both the top and bottom of a list.
I know how to rank but unfortunately the bottom will be changing (i.e.: the table size may change from month to month and this is where I have a problem.
I am ranking a table, then doing a lookup on the list to return other values based on the ranking.
What excel formula can I use to ensure I get the bottom 5 if the list length/table size is changing from month to month?
(Please note - I need to do this in excel - not as excel VBA)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a list of 200,000 e-mail addresses in a excel document in column A. What i am trying todo is find all the duplicate e-mail addresses within the list that appears more than four times.
I have tried this forumla in colunm B so it lists how many times the record appears: =countif($A$2:$A$244270,A2) which works fine and then a number appears next to each record. Then i pressed the sort filter to arrange all the records in number order so all the 5's are at the top of the worksheet but that does'nt always list them in the correct number order.
Basically all i want todo is find all the records that appear in my list more than five times then make a list of just one of those 5 records so i can remove them from my e-mail system.

I need to be able to identify which BAND ID belongs to each TIME in the list so that I can sum the VALUE figures for each BAND ID (e.g. the first time given,17:22, would belong to Band 3). have tried using LOOKUP but I can't seem to get it to work. Additionally, I have a problem with the 30 hour clock. Would I have to stick to a 24 hour clock? This would mean that I would have to find each time from the list that was between 24:00 and 05:59 and allocate it to the previous day because it is important to keep the values that I ultimately derive in the right day of the week.
I've seen a lot of traffic around running macro's on a clock at regular intervals. But what if I want to run a Macro (Macro1) at 8:55, 9:55, 11:55, 12:55, 13:55, 16:55 and another Macro (Macro2) at the top of each of those hours? The string of times is not consecutive, so I have built a table to define the release times. At each of these times I need to run a macros, and I'm not sure where to begin.

I'm looking to tweak this formula to count the number of unique values that occur at least 3 times.
So, imagine that A1:A50 contain 50 last names from the phone book, 27 of which are unique according to the formula above.
Now, further imagine that only 5 of these unique 27 last names appear at least 3 times.
I'm looking for the formula that returns 5.
And (like always), for simplicity and sharing reasons, I'm hoping to find a single formula that occupies a single cell, and does not rely on additional columns of intermediate information.
I have two coworkers who input a list of times spent throughout the week into a basic 5x5 grid (daysof the week x 5 employees) into their own seperate workbooks. I then take those workbooks and copy and paste them on to my own master work book. Is there any way to get their data to auto populate on to my spreadsheet?

However, the first one in the code makes the user click the "ok" box 3 times before it goes away, the second one makes them click 2 times, and the third they just have to click once. to make it where they only need to click "OK" once on each of those?

As yet there are no days in which there were more than 2 cases but there might be in the future.
I have a list of dates when operations took place in that room. On some days the it was not in use, so those dates don't appear in the list. Some days there was 1 case, so that date appears once in the list. On some days there were two cases, so that date appears twice in the list.
What I've done so far is create a pivot table that contains all the dates, then grouped it by day and counted the number of times there was 1 or 2 cases in a day by hand, then subtracted the total to get the days when there weren't any cases.
I have a list of times in a column. I'm looking for a macro that will go down the column and record all the times that lay between 5 and 7am, 1 and 3pm (13:00-15:00) and 8 and 10pm (20:00-22:00)
How to write it?
In the middle of one of my subroutines, my function sometimes hits an error (Subscript Out of Range: because it's looking for a string when it is not there).
If this error occurs, I want it to then look for a different string.
So I ONLY want this other string search to occur if I get an error at that point in the code. I've tried "On Error GoTo ....." but it's doing that GoTo everytime, even if no error occurs. I also can't put "Exit sub" before the On Error statement, because there is a lot of code after this point as well.
I'm trying to pull the earliest and lasted times out of a list of time stamps. Say I have a column full of clock in and clock out times and wanted to find the first clock in time and the last clock out time (just an example). My lookup_value would be a Store number. I can't post it here due to legality reasons, but I have a column a store numbers that will be my lookup values and I need to find the earliest and lastest time in a list of data on another tab.
