Index And Match With Repeating Values Without Repeating First Found Name
Apr 20, 2006sorting data I use in a workbook for athletics. I've really chopped down my workbook for upload, In the worksheet "Leaderboard" I can call up stats for different lifts, and it finds (in this case) the top 5 lifts and the names for the kids that have those corresponding lifts.
My problem is that when two or more kids have the same lift, it will only call up the name of the first instance of that lift. You can see this in the "Leaderboard" worksheet, and the name "Adams, Andrew" appears for both lifts of 75. I would appreciate any help on how to correct this, as I've searched the Internet for weeks now looking for a solution. I've tried experimenting with different things as well, all to no avail.

Jun 15, 2014i need a formula for a sign in sheet for the academy i work at. we have night and day classes of the same sessions, in the planner they are listed as d1, d2 d3 and n1 n2 n3 and so on for each.
so basically im trying to create a formula to quickly ender the d1, d2, d3 ect into the cells on eachpage for the students to sign in for each day it works out to be about 190 calls and 9 diferent classes to you can see why id like to speed this up. problem is i need the number to change not the D and excel want to use the cell allocation.
as you can see from the document i have not attatched, i have created a formula to add in the dates automatically, i would like to do the same with the session numbers or the D numbers, this is one of the shorter courses and has about 190 days
Repeating Items A Specific Number Of Times
Jan 22, 2008I am trying to create a formula that would provide a result a specific number of times based on a table in a seperate worksheet. Here is an example:
Person: # of times
John 2
Joe 2
Frank 2
Jack 1
Based on an IF statement, the cell should bring back John, the next cell down should bring back John, the third cell should bring back Joe as John has reached his limit of 2, and have this repeat until all criteria that meet the IF statement have been met.
Random Number Generation Without Repeating Across Same Row Or Column?
Nov 24, 2011Been trying to think of a way to get random numbers 1 to 36 generated without repeating in the same column, however also getting it to perform the same opertaion in 9 more columns (B:J) without the same number appearing in the same row.

Unsure if this is possible, have created a basic script for random number generation but have no clue how to expand across columns.
Cell Format For Partial Repeating Number
Sep 19, 2006I have an excel sheet that we need to type in an account number it always starts with 8774100 then has 9 more numbers. If I leave it on number formating it always changes the last number to 0 so I format the cell as TEXT. Anyway is there a way to get the 8774100 to automatically go in and only have to type the last 9 numbers? I know I can copy paste but then I have to double click or make sure I enter the last 9 numbers at the end or use the top entry. The data entry people just want to hit enter and go from line to line fast. In the past I just divided the cell into 2 cells and made the 8774100 in column A and columb B was the ending 9 numbers. But they need to be in the same cell.

I have the form set up with data validation and indirect references(Lists on a separate sheet)
Example...
User enters in:

Date made
Number of items
From there I have a separate set of cells that reference the above info formated to how I want the label to appear when printed.
Now, I need to repeat that label the set number of times (# entered in as "number if items") in a label sort of format (not sure if a mail merge will work for this??)
Then, print off and stick identical labels onto each part that is manufactured per PO/Date etc.

Dec 28, 2012In my worksheet, I know the last line of my report AND I know how many "reporting segments" (all equidistant and identical) there are in the report based on the last row using the below (which I tested in several reports in messages):

My "reporting segments" are ALWAYS 22 rows each and the first one always starts in row 5. Example: A document where the last row (containing an End of Report special character) is 247 would have 11 reporting segments.
Within each reporting segment, there are two different formulas needed.
For the first reporting segment located in rows A5 thru J27:
I need FORMULA1 in all cells of the range (D5:D15 dragged out to H5:H10(not 15) and D18) and FORMULA2 in cells (F20:F22,J20:J22).
Then I need to repeat that vTaskCount number of times (number of segments) and at intervals of 22 (segment repeater offset). Some reports may have 2 segments, some might have 50, but the structure is always identical.
My formulas are all pretty simple if it makes a difference (originally using FormulaR1C1 = "=RC[-1]+RC[-3]" --- but because I now know solid cell locations I suppose I don't need to make them relative, too.)
Updating Values In Variable Ranges Based On Repeating Patterns In A Column
Jul 6, 2006I have a list of two columns. Here’s an example. The left most column provides the row number.

Whenever there are two repeating numbers in column one, I want to reduce certain numbers in column 2 by a certain amount. The amount is determined by half the difference between the number in column B corresponding to the second repeated number and the number in column B corresponding to the row after the second repeating number. The range of numbers that are to be reduced begins with the row after the second repeating number and ends with the last row before number one appears in column A. The values in column A are integers, always starting with one. For example, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
For the above example, after finding the repeating number two’s at A2 and A3, it would reduce B4 through B6 by half the difference between B3 and B4 (1/2). The values for B4 through B6 would be updated in column B. The same for the next repeated numbers, which is one at A7 and A8. Half the difference between B8 and B9 is 1.
Here’s what the updated list would look like:

Data Validation And Non-Repeating Entries
Apr 18, 2014I'm trying to create a questionnaire and in each question you got to rank the answers 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to your preferences.
So I'm trying to use data validation to allow ranges between 1 and 4 and at the same time I'm trying to use =countif($B$20:$H$20,B20)=1 to prevent repeating selections but my problem is that with the data validation tool I can only select one of those options either allowing whole numbers between 1 - 4 or allowing custom and using =countif($B$20:$H$20,B20)=1.
Is there a way to do both?

Pulling Data From Repeating Cell Pattern?
Jun 6, 2014I have a weather graph I am putting together for fun and cannot figure out a way to bring data in for a table based on a consistent data pattern. My high temp averages are in column C along with other annual averages (High (Cell C7), annual avg. (Cell C9), low (Cell C8), precip (Cell C10) etc.) for that year, my data will go back 50 years. I am trying to find a formula that will bring the temp data into another column so I can create a graph of just the high temps or precipitation or any other measure. I have color coded the cells I am looking for.
Essentially, I am hoping that in column H, I will have a year (2014 for example) and column I will search for a match between column A and H (year), if a match is found, it will bring in data from that year for a specific category (Temp for example). OR, another option would be to to skip the cells and just pull in data from the cell (High temps would be in cell C7, C18, C29, C40 etc.) through a =C7+11 (cell count, not adding to number result) type of formula.

May 6, 2014The sheet I have attached has three tabs one is a master sheet another is the production input and the last is an engineering input section, I have coded the production input section to input into cells and email the engineers when they have a new job, the issue i have is with the engineering input.
The engineers can currently go into this sheet and input the job number onto the engineering input section and it will show them the current issue from the master sheet (I have already entered 1002 in it), what I want them to be able to do is input into the white sections below the description and when they click on update entry a macro takes the job number entered into B3 and saves the information onto the mastersheet in the correct column/row which corresponds to the job they are updating.
However the engineers may need to go into the same job several times and update different information therefore the fields need to not paste into the cells if the input sections are blank.

I have used OFFSET to pull some information successfully from a list. This is easy for me to do with single entries and a list and has worked well. I want to do similar but with a dataset not just single cells.
But, I can't seem to make OFFSET work to show a set of data easily.
Perhaps I will need VB code to do so? Or there is another control I'm not aware of? I've done very little with VB.
I'll attach a sample file to try to show better what I'm trying to do.

Col A = Yearly Cost
Col B = The number of the month when the costs are starting (1=Jan etc)
Col C = The duration or the number of months for which the costs are to spread
Col D is Year 2013 with the months across columns D-O. Row 1 above those columns shows the month's corresponding number.

If date in B2 - date in A2 is 7 or less days but more than 1, put a 2 in cell C2.
If date in B2 - date in A2 is 30 or less days but more than 7, put a 3 in cell C2.
If date in B2 - date in A2 is 90 or less days but more than 30, put a 4 in cell C2.

Another, maybe simpler, way of saying it is:

Repeating Sum Of Several Columns
Jan 31, 2007I have several columns of data representing a shop operation along different years. Now I try to see how will it look like if I have 10 shops like this, all summed up. The problem is that each shop will have the same numbers as the other 9, just that it's first year of operation will be different.
Now, I don't want to have different sheet for each and every shop since their data is exactly the same. I only want to have 1 type of shop which I can add to a consolidated sheet but 10 times, and each time the first year shoud be different.
Just an example: If I have this data for my shop:

Sales: 10 12 14 16
Costs: 5 6 7 8
Operation: 2 2 3 3
Tax: 1 1 1 1
profit: 2 3 3 4
And lets say I have 4 shops opening in 2000,2001 and 2 in 2002 than my consolidated should look like this:

But again, I don't want to open a different table for each shop and than sum them up - I want to have only my one shop, and have a possibility to say when will I open my next shop and the consolidation will be automatically.
