Row Number Of Last Date / Time In Column (Dynamic Range)
Feb 4, 2014
I have a long (~42,000) list of dates and times (some including zeros). I would like to name these ranges and use a formula to find the last entry in each column. I know the lists will never go over 45,000.
The data is in this format:
1/31/14
23:58:00
1/30/14
[Code]....
The data will not always be consecutive, so I imagine the criteria would be something like (if there were such a thing) "ISDATE" or something of the sort.
How would I write a formula to dynamically calculate the row number of the last date or time in the column? (In this case, it would be 6.)
I want to define a dynamic named range based on the last date in a range (AE4 down). Unfortunately there are gaps in this range where no date is in a cell.
I need a sum function in A1 of a "Total"-sheet that totals cell A1 in every sheet with a certain color on the tab. The number of sheets can vary from time to time.
Any idea about a dynamic sum function that will do this, in combination with VBA?
I'm still confused regarding a complex formula - rather n00b. Using Office 2007 with XP. Can't figure out with help or previous questions.
The following is what I would like this formula to accomplish. Picture included below.
Take all the values of column of C and add them together if and only if the corresponding date value in column A is during the month of January (and February, March, and so forth).
I have a column of data that keeps getting new information in it. what i need is a named range that i can use for a chart, first point in the named range will be the first value in the column, second point will be avg. of point 1 and 2, then 3rd point will be avg. of 1,2,3 etc.
I found quite a few posts about this problem, but none of the answers was any use to me. I need to redimension a 2 dimensional array in a Sub. I deleted all the code that is not of interest:
I have a range of numbers that are not completely sequential and I'd like to separate them out into their individual numbers. In cell A1 I have displaying "1-30" and then in cell A2 I have "50-72" and A3 "100-105", et cetera. I 'd like to have cell B1 through B30 display 1 through 30 (1 in B1, 2 in B2, 3 in B3...) respectively, and then cell B31 through B53 would have 50 through 72.
I need to create a formula that can dynamically pick up the last number after the "-" so that it can work for any number range of any length. I've tried using left and right but that doesn't help when moving from the 10's digits to 100's digits.
I have data in a spreadsheet similar to the below.
[Code] ....
What I need to do is created a named dynamic range based on the current month which will contain all rows/columns within that range. Ideally I need it to create the range for the current month so I can then use this as the data source for a pivot table.
I believe it is something to do with index and match functions?
I have a function which copy pastes data into a sheet based on a filter criteria. It is also pasted in a specific layout(shown below) starting from Cell A1 in the top left corner. Therefore the destination sheet could have a different number of rows with values each time.
What I would like to do is count the sum of 'Values' in the destination sheet, and add a total below it.
For example, the [=TOTAL] cell is where I want the total to appear. Below the answer would be 26. But say if Peter wasnt in the record, the formula should still work in identifying the Total as 20.
Title: Sheridan Owner Petrov G
[Code]....
Is there a way I can achieve the desired result? I figured I had to somehow count from the first record by Peter, to the last one, whichever that may be.
I am creating a spreadsheet that will display the subject mentioned. I need a chart that displays project deliverables as labels along a year long date range. I want to be able to change the date range to any period of time by entering a start date and an end date and having the chart automatically update to that date range and display the project deliverables due during that range. I have used the following links and have been able to accomplish each of them individually, but have not been able to combine the labels of the project timeline link with the dynamic date range described in the second link.

[URL] ......
How to achieve the spreadsheet I described using the two ideas presented in the link?
i'm running out an option, i must use offset or index function but there are problem found: 1.Offset function cannot use a dynamic height or number of columns and the result are #NAME?, here is the code
VB: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()Dim k As Variant Dim b As Variant Range(Me.RefEdit1).Name = "item"
Some of you may have seen my 2-dimensional Date Range Criteria thread . By request, that thread has been closed and I am opening a new one on a related, but infinitely more complex note.
The solution to the previous thread worked, but not well with my project. I'll go a little more in depth into how my project works, and try not to be too detailed and irritating.
I am trying to create a homebrew Learning Management System for some of the Training courses that my department offers. I've posted here a few times on the same project, and the advice from all previous posts has been excellent.
What I have so far allows users to input all of the relevant information about a participant, and then keep track of the dates when they took a particular course. They input this information with a Userform. This data goes into a Participant Master List, which is where the majority of the functions take place. There is a Workings sheet set to xlVeryHidden, which houses some other information, including results for searches, and finally there is the Report Template--the source of my original question.
The original question was how to make a formula that would track how many people from each department and site have attended training within a date range. That question was answered in the 2-dimensional Date Range Criteria of the report.
What makes it potentially more complicated is that a user might want to generate two or three reports at the same time to compare side-by-side. I'm pretty sure I can make something that will do this, and allow it, but the way it's looking could be really complicated--extreme headache, and a lot of VBA coding.
I need a Text to Column VBA code that will find a dynamic range. Example: I will be sorting range B1:X20. After it has been sorted, I need a VBA Text to Columns code to be applied to dynamic range H1:H20. I can write VBA language that will identify H1 as Range1 and H20 as Range2. How do I get the VBA to identify Range1:Range2 for Text to Column to be applied? Can "Dim" languace assist in locating the dynamic range?
I need to create a validated list of month choices, and the list needs to be filled with the names (Month and year, I.E. Feb-07) of the last 13 months for which we have data.
(We get our data about 8 weeks late, so being that it is mid april now I only have data now up to the end of Feb-08. I have created a chart in which the viewer can change the month to view but up to now it has only been for the current year, now they want to see the past 13 months, obviously I don't want to go in and change this every time the next months' data is entered.
So, what offset formula do I use to reference the month-year names which are spread across Row 1, presently in columns C thru N, and the next months data (March) will go in column O, then April's in column, P, etc
I have tried several variations of this; =OFFSET(C1,0,0,0, COUNTA($1:$!)) but how do I get only the last 13 months?
I have what I thought was going to be a simple function to create and, after a week of getting more error messages than I've had in a year, I'm ready to throw in the towel. Situation: There are two worksheets in the same workbook [Excel 2003]. One is for "Posting" details about technicians and their work orders. The other is a "Report" that summarizes the number of workorders open, closed, etc.
In the "Posting" sheet, I have created dynamic name ranges for two columns: Technician (4-digit text field) and InDate (date field that, if blank, means that the technician has not closed this work order. My ranges are set up like this:
So all I need to do is to total all the blank InDates for each Technician by employee number. I've tried COUNT to SUMPRODUCT. A co-worker got it to work with using...=SUMPRODUCT((ISBLANK(Posting!$D$2:$D$65307))*(Posting!$B$2:$B$65307=4288)) His solution was to list almost every available cell in each column. I just can't help but think that the dynamic name range should be able to work but I can't get it right. I think I'll choke if I get one more "N/A" or "VALUE! error.
I was wondering if there was a way to create a two cell dynamic range that doesn't expand, but instead shifts.
The cells that I'm interested in are always at the bottom of the column of data. For example, the first two cells I want as my range are C13 and D13. Then, for my next use of the range, I would like it to include C14 and D14.
I want to enter any thing in column (A) and then the date & time automaticaly put in column (B) enter any thing in (A1), the date & time entered in (B1) automaticaly enter any thing in (A2), the date & time entered in (B2) automaticaly
is there a way to convert many entries of dates and time entered in the above way into actual dates and times? is it as simple as making a custom format? if so, whats the syntax?
the entries appear to be the year(4 characters), the month (2 characters), the day of month (2 characters), and the time of day (6 characters, AM/PM)
i dont need the time, so the last part ("120000[0:GMT]") isn't necessary.
Can you use Row & Column numbers in a Formula the way you can in VBA?
I want to do the same as Range(Cells(5,2)) in VBA EXCEPT in a Formula because I want to use named ranges for the Row & column entries. (And I don't want to have to run a macro every time a change is made. The spreadsheet is huge enough already. It's slow on my machine & I have the biggets baddest PC in the company!)
Using Formulas only, (not VBA) I would like to create a Dynamic Named Range, LastUsedRow, which is the ROW NUMBER of the Last Used Cell in Column C (it would = 470)
Also I have an existing Named Range HeaderRowNum (it = 16)
Currently I have a LOT of formulas like: =SUMPRODUCT(($E17:$E470)*(--(CO17:CO470>0)))
problem is any new data must be added between Rows 17 & 470
So I would like to create dynamic new forumlas to read like: SUMPRODUCT( (Cells(HeaderRowNum+1,5) : (LastUsed Row,5)) * (--(Cells(HeaderRowNum+1,93) : (LastUsed Row,93))>0) )...............
But this uses column A as the longest column... but sometimes it will be column I - how can the formula be adapted ? or can it be ? i've been looking at the Max function and trying to incorporate that but my limited brainpower has gone to mush.
How would I select a dynamic range in VBA without using name a range in Excel. I have searched for possible answers, however they use xldown, or xlup which works great for non-empty cells. My problem need to select the area where there are empty cells. Here is a snap shot of the data looks like:
Trade Date A B C D E 2008-Feb-11 450,432 2008-Feb-13 2008-Feb-15
The cell with number is where I got the formulas. Now i wish to fill that formula with the rest of the area. However, the problem is the number of rows and number of columns may change in the future. So I need to select those empty areas in a dynamic way.
I have data showing when staff arrive at, enter after clearing security and then exit a building after completing their task. The data for each cell is a combined date and time as opposed to separate cells for date and time.
I am trying to ascertain how long our security staff take to clear persons waiting to enter the building and also how many people at any one time are actually in the building (after being processed through security).
I also need to ascertain if particular issues arise at certain days of the week (eg Mon morning) and so need to add a further column which shows the day of week using the date/time data.
I had thought about trying to display the data using a a stacked bar chart but I still need to look at any particular date/time and ascertain how many persons are in the building without manually counting the rows!
I'm trying to combine the hours that a employee worked on a single date, with one of multiple time periods that exist for that employee.
I have two sets of data. Set 1 (hours) Employee number, date, hours 12345, 1-2-2014, 6 12345, 1-3-2014, 8 12345, 1-10-2014, 8
Set 2 (periods) Employee number, start date, end date 12345, 1-1-2014, 4-1-2014 12345, 6-1-2014, 1-2-2014
What I'd like to do is to add the start and end date of Set 2 to Set 1 for every row in Set 1
In above example the result should be like this. 12345, 1-2-2014, 6, 1-1-2014, 4-1-2014 12345, 1-2-2014, 8, 1-1-2014, 4-1-2014 12345, 1-10-2014, 8, 6-1-2014, 1-2-2014
