I am trying to create an Excel database where I input a number and it finds the information that I am looking for.
For example, I have a list of 20 different companies that each have various supply numbers for properties ranging over a period of around 400,000 numbers spread out over between them. I want to be able to input a specific supply number on the database and it provides me with the relevant area, contact number for the company, and address etc.
So if the number that I input falls between 3000 and 4000, the details for one company appear. However if I input another number between 4000 and 5000 then a different company name appears.

I am writing a simple macro and trying to filter on a specific date. I thought it would be as simple as this;
Dim mydate As Date
mydate = Range("r4")
Range("A3:K3").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=7, Criteria1:=mydate, Operator:=xlAnd
Range("A2").Select
The filter doesn't seem to work as it doesn't return any results, even though there are results in the table.

I am working with Excel 2007. I have a work book with several worksheets full of job data including names, job codes, titles, and descriptions. On one sheet I have names, job codes and titles that I have matched to my companies current personnell data. On the other sheet I have survey job codes, titles and descriptions. I need a hyperlink formula that will take someone comparing the two jobs straight to the description to for comparison information. There are too many hyperlinks needed for me to manually choose the specific cell I need. I am very willing to send an example.

I am looking for a way to have print icons on my spreadsheet that will print certain worksheets once clicked on.
For example: My spreadsheet has several countries, UK, France, Germany...
If clicking on the print icon next to Germany - i would like only the German worksheets to be printed - there would be several worksheets for each country.

I need a macro that will look in column B of a worksheet for the value "Grp2" and begin inserting rows underneath that value based on a variable that I will pass to it. The variable will be how many rows to insert.
For example if value "Grp2" occurs in cell B19,beginning at cell B20 I want to insert a specified number of rows.

I have a question for you that can be much helpful for me. I prepared a macro which is collecting many datas from different pages and entering them on a sheet. Some lines of this sheet are with data and some are empty. I would like to write a code, which will delete the lines in which there is no data. But I would like the code to do this between line 5 and line 225.

I'm working with matrix in vba and i'm trying to put all values of a specific line in that matrix in a line in excel. For example:
Matrix =
1 2
3 4
and i want Range("B1:B2") = 3 | 4 (the second line of that matrix).
Is there any way of doing this without perfoming a loop?
[something like Range("B1:B2").value = 'range'(matrix(0,0) , matrix(0,1)) ]

I'm going to be using a spreadsheet to keep track of where different people are at. So if Person 1 is in Room 3, I will stick a 3 in the box next to their name and then can look at the spreadsheet whenever I need and see what room they are in. When I'm deciding what room to put a person in, though, I need to be able to quickly glance at a list of Room #'s and see what one's are still available. So I have a bank of Room #'s in the spreadsheet....1,2,3, etc.
What I'd like, is some way to set this up so that when I put, for example, "3" in the cell next to "Person 1" the spreadsheet automatically removes "3" from the bank of available Room #'s and when I delete the "3" because the person has left, it adds "3" back to the bank of available Rooms.

I have a mass of data which look something like this:
table removed
and I require the ranges of reference numbers to be listed in a column one above the other, which requires inserting new rows. I also need the date & description columns copied down into the newly inserted rows.
So basically for example I would want the top row to now read:
table removed
and then apply the same procedure to the other ranges below this.

This is what I need:
Columns B, C, D & E are all populated with 3 digit numbers.
I would like column F to automatically populate with any of the 3 digit numbers that share two numbers, i.e.
F2 might look like this (using 00 as the pair):
001, 040
F3 might look like this (using 01 as the pair):
701, 051, 110, 001, 120
F4 might look like this (using 12 as the pair):
123, 721, 281, 912, 112, 120
etc...

I have a text file with rows and columns of numbers ranging from 1-4 digits that I'd like to import/copy into Excel with each number being in its own cell. But whenever I copy/try to import, Excel splits all of the 3-4 digit numbers up into single digit numbers. The text file has 10,000+ columns (each number occupies two columns so I have half of that amount in numbers) and 300+ lines.
Is the file simply too large for Excel to handle or is there a way I can do this?

In the ID column of the attached excel file whenever I convert the numbers stored as text to numbers it results in a weird transformation.
e.g. an ID of 480610141001 becomes 4.8061E+11. When I do the same process in the name column, which has similar numbers, it will give the correct result following the same process.

The last column is the one that dictates when a new range of numbers start. There should be one range of numbers for Rose, One range for Blossom etc.

Is there a way either by VBA or manually (preferably both, if possible) to actually unite the X amount of numbers that are in a cell given the contents is alphanumeric? I'll give you the following examples to see if you can understand what I' referring to?

I have a column of variances, these contain both negative numbers and positive numbers. I want to gather a sum of all the negative numbers and positive numbers separtely. Basically saying all the positive overeages = this amount And all the negative shortages = this amount. you can see the attached sample.

I have a text string in cell A1 as below:
repairs booked in Dec,11 (INR 37k)
training fees Dec,11 (INR 42k)test Fee Reimb for 03 emp Dec,11 (INR 56k)
skill fees booked in Jan,12 INR 52k
Reimb for 01 employee in Jan,12 INR 8k fee accounted- xyz INR 250k, Quick solutions INR 52K, ABCD India INR 272K, Layer Technologies INR30K and complex mgt INR 21K
Note: (INR 37K) means negative number i.e. -37
Now my task is to manually total the above amounts in calculator, i.e.
-37-42-56+52+8+250+52+272+30+21 = =550
like this there are 100s of cells, could derive a formula for this task.

In the example above, I would like to do a vlookup in column C that matches the digits in column A to those in column F, with the output being the corresponding value in column G. I believe it involves the left function but not sure how to really use it here.

I'm working on a spreadsheet with about 400 rows and 10 columns. All the numbers in the columns are formatted as text, which doesn't allow me to use AutoSum. I have selected the cells and formatted them as number with no decimals, but AutoSum still doesn't work because the formatting hasn't changed and they're still formatted as text. I know if I double click each cell, the cell changes the format from text to number, but that will take a lot of time to change 400 cells in each of the 10 columns. What can I do to quickly reformat the cells from text to number?
