Sheet.delete Triggers Udf Error In Another Workbook
Mar 10, 2007
Workbook_1 has a UDF that uses a Range() without any sheet name ( Range("myRange") instead of Sheets(1).Range("myRange") ). Workbook_2 has a macro that deletes a sheet. When the delete statement executes, the cells in Workbook_1 try to recalculate and the UDF returns an error. If I use 'workbooks("Workbook_1").Sheets(1).Range("myRange")' in the UDF then it works properly when WorkBook_2 deletes the sheet. ('Sheets(1).Range("myRange")' still produces an error).
I have an Excel 2003 spreadsheet used to calculate doses of medication. The value of several cells will depend on what optionbuttons the user selects.
I have entered the first two lines of code below w/o a problem to make certain calculations that are displayed in the specified cells.
I then tried to make an additional calculation to display in cell 6,9, but it always triggers a "Application-defined or object-defined error". For troubleshooting purposes, I moved that line of code directly under the other two lines of similar code that I know work, and simplified the problem line to just arbitrarily set the value of the cell to a value of 2 (instead of the actual formula); it still triggers the error.
I'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.
Code: Sub SaveSheetAsNewBook() Dim wb As Workbook Dim InitFileName As String Dim fileSaveName As String Dim wshape As Shape InitFileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & Format(Date, "mm.dd.yy")
I am currently doing an excel database of students application. I want a macro that creates a duplicate of a template sheet and renaming it based on the name of the student. Meaning once a name appears in the name cell, a sheet of that particular name is automatically created. At the same time, i want all the data regarding the applying student to appear the newly created sheet as shown in the attached file.
I have an original workbook that I use daily stored in a folder called 'Live'. I also have this same workbook saved in a different folder call 'In Progress' because I am constantly improving and making changes to it. While I'm in the revision mode, I keep it in this folder. Once I've completed my revisions, I move it to the folder where the live workbook is located and replace the old version. Therefore, I have two copies of the workbook at all times. The name of the workbook in both folders is the same (IRQT)
I have a macro in this workbook that will allow you to save a copy of the workbook in a folder called IRQTArchive. The macro will create the folder if it doesn't exist, then store a copy of the workbook using a name in a cell. After that is complete it renames the workbook back to the original name (IRQT).
This macro works perfect in my live version, but when I execute the macro in the 'In Progress' version, I get a Compile error: Sub or Function not Defined when it reads the dirExists command in the first line of code. The code in both sheets is identical. Here are the first few lines of code. The command dirExists is highlited in yellow when it errors out.
I have a main workbook that uses a macro to open a workbook provided to me from another department. This workbook contains a sheet that is basically a copy of the sheet in the main document and has the same sheetname and same codename.
The macro should copy the sheet data from the site workbook to the sheet in the main workbook. However, when i tell the workbook to select the sheet in the site file using its codename it errors....
I have a VBA script that works great when run each day, as it's intended. But if a user skips a day, we end up with an error when deleting an old worksheet. The old worksheet to be deleted has a date as the sheet name (i.e. "2014-May-23").
We've developed some code to find the most recent FILE if there wasn't one created on the previous business date, but what VBA code can I enter to correctly identify and delete the old, outdated worksheet? My final spreadsheet should contain just two dates worksheets - one each for the past 2 business dates.
Here's a snippet of my current coding:
Code: Sub Master_3D_Macro() ' ' Master_3D_Macro Macro ' ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+j ' Dim CurrDate As Date Dim Holidays(1 To 9) As Date
I have to rewrite this code so that when i copy the sheet and paste it, to paste one Toggle button with its assigned macro. I don't want the whole workbook cause there are one combo box, another four toggle buttons and a command button, that i dont' need in the new file. So only to insert one toggle button with its macro.
Sub FileSaveCopyAs_Click() Dim strFileName As String Dim theNumber As Variant Dim theFirm As String Cells.Select Selection.Copy Workbooks.Add Cells.Select ActiveSheet.Paste theNumber = Sheets(1).Range("F13") theFirm = Sheets(1).Range("E1") strFileName = Right(theNumber, 4) & " " & theFirm ActiveSheet. SaveAs Filename:="C:Documents and SettingsSecretaryDesktopFacturi" & strFileName & (".xls") End Sub
I have a file that has an original file format .xls
I saved as .xlsx (I am using Excel 2007) with a different name so I could make changes to the new file without changing the original.
That turn off compatibility mode.... but it is still "shared". While it is shared I cannot delete a sheet. In fact, I really don't even want it to be shared. If the file is open, and someone else opens it, I want it to open as "read only". I cannot uncheck the "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allows workbook merging." checkbox because it is greyed out.
I have a code that copies a sheet into a new workbook. The copied sheet is for information only. On the original sheet I have various macro's assigned to buttons made from using Insert Shape command. I assume if I can find away to remove the buttons then the functionality of the macro's would be lost which is what I want?
I am currently working with a hidden sheetname "hide_template" which contains formula linking to another sheetname "rawdata" of same workbook.
In this "rawdata", the contents is updated from time to time.
The problem is when I open this workbook and update the entries in "rawdata", the formulas/results in "hide_template" is not updated and invalid (ie. #N/A, #VALUE..)
This is the overview of process that Im working with:
===> open workbook ===> paste new entries on "rawdata" ==> run a macro to copy range in the "hidden_template" to paste to new sheet of same workbook
I already have a working macro to copy range from the "hidden_template" which works as follows:
===> set to visible the "hidden_template" ===> copy range from "hidden_template" ===> paste to new sheet ===> set to hidden the "hidden_template"
I've created a chart in sheet 1 in a workbook. I want to copy and paste that chart into another sheet (lets take sheet 2) of the same workbook. I am using Excel 2010 version.
Whenever, I try to copy a graph and want to do "Paste Special as Link picture". The problem I am facing as "Paste Link" option is inactive.
I have a macro that I would like to run everytime ANY cell is changed in a given worksheet. I've read some posts that explain how to do this when say ONE cell is changed, but I cannot figure out how to expand on that.
In the worksheet_change event I am calling a method for performing some calculations. The method is called only if certain cells are affected. I want to know the cell values before the event gets triggered.
For eg: Lets say Cell A1: 10 Cell A2: 20 I select both A1 & A2 and click on delete. Then I want to obtain the values 10 & 20 in the method called. Is this possible? Currently If I do Cell.value it returns blank.
Trying to create a new workbook from another open workbook, then copying all the sheets that aren't called "Summary" to that new open workbook and then saving it. I get a subscript error on this line:
I need to know the formula and/or codes to create a trigger on my excel worksheets to send email when an item needs follow-up. The workbook was created on 97-2003 but the outlook program I believe is a later version.
How I can create the email triggers. I am enclosing a copy sample of the spreadsheet I need the Macros attached to (I will need to know how to create/run macros with my spreadsheet. What I need is an email triggered to the sales rep based on the follow-up date. The email should include the quote number and customer name.
Trying to create a dropdown list to navigate to another worksheet . I tried iterations of the following code but am getting an 'object required' error.
If I can't assign the result to a string, how can I change the worksheet from the result of the dropdown list?
Sub DropDown7_Change() Dim temp As String temp = ActiveDocument.FormFields(“DropDown7”).Result Sheets(temp).Select End Sub
I have a Userform with a textbox1 and a commandbutton. TextBox1 triggers a code on the exit event. CommandButton1 simply unloads the UserForm. If a user enters data in the textbox, but does not exit and instead clicks the commandbutton to unload the UserForm, the exit event code is still triggered and then for some reason the commandbutton no longer responds to being clicked. I can't seem to find a way around this.
If the commandbutton is clicked, I simply want the UserForm to be unloaded and the exit event for the textbox ignored
I have a workbook with several worksheets. One sheet ('Forecast') contains 12 ComboBoxes, which, on a Change event, run a series of macros to show the users certain information and provide certain options: protected 'Budget' or 'Actual' data from a hidden datasheet, or unprotected 'Forecast' cells that respond to user changes. In other words, I can't simply use a series of 'If' statements or VLookups with conditional formatting to get around the ComboBoxes.
OK - So in ordinary use, the ComboBoxes and macros are working as intended. But there is one situation that causes problems:
When a SaveAs command is used to save the model under a different name, all 12 ComboBox Change Events are somehow being triggered.
So what is it about a SaveAs command that triggers ComboBox Change events?! And whatever it is, can I turn it off?
(This happens in Excel versions 2000, 2003 and 2007.)
I run a web query from [url] to import the latest currency rates into Excel. I refresh the data every minute. Every time Cell B19 changes I want to run the following
If Cells(19, 2).Value > 1.27 Then MsgBox "buy" End If
I tried putting that code in the Worksheet_Change event but it only works if the user physically changes the cell, not if it's changed by a web query. So how can I run code that triggers when a cell is changed by a web query?
1. Sheet1.xlsx (regular excel sheet as the extension is .xlsx)
2. Consolidated.xlsm (macro enabled sheet as its extension is .xlsm)
1. Copy both the files on your system under a particular folder.
2. Now make 9 replica's of Sheet1.xlsx and name them as Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4, .......... Sheet10
3. Open the sheet Consolidated.xlsm and see the button i have added called "Pull Data".
Now write down the code by adding a Module in that excel sheet from the code window.
4. Write a code that will open each of these sheets (Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4, .......... so on) one at a time and will copy the data from these sheets to the Consolidated.xlsm sheet.
5. Make sure that the data is appended(and not overwritten) from the multiple sheets (Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3). that is once you paste the data from sheet1 to Consolidated.xlsm then the Sheet2 data will be pasted at the end and after that sheet3 data will be pasted and so on..
6. In this way at the end we will have all the data from Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3...in the consolidated sheet.
7. The Division column in the Consolidated sheet will have the value of first row in these multiple sheets. So after making the replicas of Sheet1, please change the value in first row (Range A1) to any other value to avoid the confusion.
8. I have highlighted the data for two sheets in yellow and grey color in the consolidated sheet.
When I duplicated a worksheet in Excel 2007, I received a warning that "A formula or sheet you want to move or copy contains the name ___" (an existing Name) and was given options. The Name in question should not have been relevant because I never intentionally linked it to the worksheet that was being duplicated, but apparently something happened at some point to create such a link.
I opened Name Manager and deleted the Name in question, and this invoked a warning. "Privacy warning: This document contains macros, ActiveX controls, XML expansion pack information, or Web components. These may include personal information that cannot be removed by the Document Inspector." I had no macros. Each time I attempted to save the document, I got this error/warning, even after disabling Macro Security completely.
It was still saving, fortunately, so I closed Excel and relaunched, and the issue seemed to vanish.
Should I be worried about the integrity of my document? Everything seems fine now, but I'm a little concerned.
I have a Change Event macro that works properly. I also have several cells that contain a drop down list. If a user tries to enter an incorrect entry...the debug is triggered on my even change macro.
Here's the piece of the Change macro that has issues. Specifically, the .undo line highlights.
With Application .ScreenUpdating = False .EnableEvents = False
Example, I have a sheet named DATA1, I want to add a new worksheet, copy a certain range from the DATA1 sheet to the new sheet and rename it the same name DATA1 and delete the old DATA1 sheet.
Also, the sheetname will be unknown, the macro must get the sheet name first.
