Sort Array Based On Criteria From Drop-down

May 18, 2009

How can I sort an array of data based on the selection from a drop-down menu? And can it be 'secondary' sorted with the result from a second drop-down (ascending or descending is unimportant)?

Sort Ascending/Descending Based On Criteria

Aug 2, 2006

I have an Overview worksheet that is pulling info from all other sheets in the workbook.

What I want to do is order that info in ascending order depending on the worksheet name.

So I want all the worksheet names that start with 'AB' say sorted in ascending order and all worksheets that start with 'BC' in ascending order.

Now this I have at present working by a macro I created which once the info is loaded onto the sheet I just selected the info and ordered it in ascending order. The thing is though the next time I enter this Overview sheet I might have an extra worksheet that starts with 'AB' and this will not be included in the order, I will have to adjust it everytime so I need a more automatic ordering process.

Copy Rows Based On Criteria, Paste As Values To New Sheet & Sort

Apr 15, 2008

I have spent a few days searching through forums but cannot find examples that i have been able to successfully adapt ( because they are to complicated for my limited knowledge). I have a workbook with 5 sheets, sheet1 (current), and sheet 4 (archive) are the important ones. I need a macro to

A) copy rows from "current" to "archive" ( to the 1st empty row) if column S of "current" contains "Closed" ( the word is generated by formula).

B) The paste needs to paste special values and number formats ( want to lose formula but not conditional formatting).

C) data sort "archives" based on col A - this puts the newly archived data into correct sequence.Data sort lowest number 1st

D) delete the copied rows from "current".

e) give me a count of how many rows it deleted, (I have a macro to insert rows so will run that manually to recreate the correct number of emtpy rows (with formula and formatting) to bring the current sheet back to usual size.

I tried modifying a macro by RPaulson (based on cells on one sheet to cells on another), to work with entire rows but couldn't get it to work.

Found that paste special uses PasteSpecial xlPasteValues, but , and thats about it.

Array Formula Based On Multiple Criteria

I am creating a summary page to analyse my golf scores. I have come to a dead end when looking at the Par statistics. Does anyone fancy a challenge and try to fill in some of the blanks on the summary tab. I am trying to use array formulas based on multiple criteria. for instance under the Best Par 3 section, it would look at all the Par 3's for whichever golfer is selected and then return the lowest number.

Expand Table To Include Missing Times From Data And Sort Based On Multiple Criteria

May 6, 2014

I have a set of data (assume 2 columns, one with a long name and the second with a time). The names contain variables that must be used as criteria (a single entry may contain "Blue" and "On"/"Off") and times vary, based on when the Name turns "On" or "Off" [in minutes: 25 (On), 47 (Off), 89 (On), 100 (Off) and 137 (On)]. I need to create another table that automatically inserts values for all times, to include the missing times (0 min thru 24 and 26 thru 46, etc.). EX: If the first entry is "Blue-On" at "25 minutes", the cells from 0 minutes to 24 minutes are each "0" and become a "1" at 25 minutes - the following cells are "1" until 47 minutes (where it is turned off). (1 and 0 represent "On" and "Off", respectively)

How can I created a formula to insert the correct numbers into the correct places? I'm willing to have multiple cells with formulas and simply hide the columns that are doing the calculations.

Array Formula To Match Closest Dates Based On Another Criteria

Jul 18, 2012

I am trying to run an array formula to match two dates on two seperate sheets as close together based on another cell. Below is what I currently have on some made up values. I am entering it as an array and ideally I would like it to run down the cells changing the reference A2 depending on which cell it is then to then enter this into a macro.

The formula I am currently using is:

=INDEX(Trees!B$2:B$75,MATCH(MIN(INDEX(ABS(IF(A2=Trees!A$2:A$75,(Trees!B$2:B$75-B2))),0)),INDEX(ABS(IF(A2=Trees!A$2:A$75,(Trees!B$2:B$75-B2))),0),0))

Array Formula To Return Multiple Values Based On Various Criteria?

Dec 19, 2013

I can manage an array formula that returns a value based on a criteria. Simple. But I want to add in an additional couple of criteria. Now I'm stuck....

My sheet looks at a manually entered postcode, finds out what region this is in, and returns a list of postcode I have defined as being in that region. (So the postcode WF1 3JY would return a region of Yorkshire, and list postcodes of WF, BD, L, etc)

I also have a list of engineers, with a column for their home postcode.I want to be able to list all the engineers from my list whose home postcode matches any of the values on the already created list from the postcode and region entered. So far I have this, which finds me all the engineers for just one postcode area.

Populate Drop-Down Based On Another Drop-Down Choice

Oct 25, 2006

Here is what I'm trying to do:

I have 4 sheets:
1 called main
1 called states
1 called counties
1 called people

On "main" I have 1 drop down box and 1 cell:

the drop down lists the states from "states" sheet
the cell, which i would like to have as a drop down is supposed to be listing the counties in the state selected from the 1st drop down. right now it is setting the value to TRUE for testing purposes.

then when the county is selected, it will display the people in that county listed in "people". So far I can only get the 1st drop down to list the states. that's the easy part. i need to getting the counties to list in another drop down based on what state is selected.

Populate Drop-Down Based On Another Drop-Down Selection ...

Dec 5, 2007

Im a fairly basic VBA user who has just purchased the code for J-Walk's Enhanced Data Form.

On other threads in this forum I have noticed a lot of people asking how to make the contents of one drop-down box dependant on the selection in another. I am trying to do the same thing but with the criteria section of the EDF form.

Is this possible? What does give me hope is that a simple Autofilter - whilst not as aesthetically pleasing, does the job well.

Populate Drop-Down Based On Another Drop-Down Selection

Aug 7, 2008

Currently I have columns fixed or assigned to the names of insurance providers/companies.

In each column below the name of the Insurance Company, a combobox containing the plans that company offers. Choose a plan, and the rest of the column is filled in using vlookup.

Now to save space, IE opposed to having 13-15 columns one assigned to each Insurance Company/Provider. I am looking to have only 3-5 columns with a first initial combobox in which one chooses the Name of the Company/Provider, and in turn populate the original combobox and vlookup functionality I already have built in.

Here is an example of what I am working with.

Filter An Array (the Longer One) Using The Shorter Array As The Criteria

Aug 26, 2009

I am trying to filter an array (the longer one) using the shorter array as the criteria. I am currently doing this using the following method

IF(LOOKUP(lookup cell, array)=lookupcell, lookupcell, "FALSE")

I then copy and paste 'values' and filter out the 'false' to get my final result.

This has worked in the past, but for some reason that I simply can't figure out, the formula isnt working! I've attached the example, and I've highlighted a number in blue (cell E522 and C103), (that should be being found in the 'LOOKUP' function) but is returning a "FALSE". I have looked over the code and simply can't figure out why Excel isn't returning the right value.

This is obviously happening for a quite a few of my numbers, as my filter result is returning an array that is about 1500 shorter than it should be. I have highlighted E522 as the 'example cell' to look at.

Drop Down List Which Returns Values Based On What Has Been Selected In The Previous Drop Down List In The Adjacent Cell

I'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.

2007 Drop Down List Array, Not Sure

Aug 6, 2009

I am trying to create a purchase order that has blank item cells, but when you click on one a drop down list appears. By selecting the appropriate item, I would like the price to come up in the next cell for the item selected.

What would be even better is if once that was done there is a cell next to the item and price and this cell will be for the type of the item selected. In this case the flavour, flavours are specific to different item though?

I think the first bit can be done through a drop down list of some kind, not to sure about the flavours drop down menu though.

Drop Down Or Some Sort Of Input Cell That Would Change The Look And Format Of The Entire Worksheet

Is there a way to have a drop down or some sort of input cell that would change the look and format of the entire worksheet? Not sure how to pose the question?? For example.

What I'm working on is a departmental forecast sheet.

I want my department heads to be able to all look at the same excel file, then be able to input or select their department from a drop down. Once the department is selected that would call for excel to bring up the forecast for their specific department (**Each departments sheet is a little different).

Array Cannot Allow To Sort Data?

Jun 30, 2014

Excel file. The file has two tabs: 'Input' and 'Master'. The 'Input' tab is for users to input any new records, and the 'Master' tab is to retrieve data from the 'Input' tab. Given that some users may want to insert a row in between (rather than add at the bottom).

I used arrays in the 'Master' tab such as:

={IF(ISERROR(1/Input!E2:E250),"",Input!E2:E250)}

Now there came the problem: in the 'Master' tab, the data cannot be sorted when the arrays are used. Otherwise, there is a warning message: You cannot change part of an array.

Sort An Array In VBA Memory

two parts:

The following is the VBA version of what i've been using:

Range("A1:J1000").Sort Key1:=Range("D2"), Order1:=xlAscending, Key2:= _
Range("E2"), Order2:=xlAscending, Key3:=Range("F2"), Order3:=xlDescending _
, Header:=xlGuess, OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:= _
xlTopToBottom, DataOption1:=xlSortNormal, DataOption2:=xlSortNormal, _
DataOption3:=xlSortNormal
now arrays are bigger than 1000 rows>> even bigger than 65536.

Such an array is stored in "arrBIG" and dimed as (1 to 10, 1 to 100000). The goal is to sort it by the 4'th, then 5th then 6th values in the first dimension - the one that is 1 to 10 - i call this the column.

arrBIG.Sort Key1:=4, Order1:=xlAscending, Key2:= _
5, Order2:=xlAscending, Key3:=6, Order3:=xlDescending _.................

Sort String Array

Nov 18, 2006

I have a string (PreString) that gets its values from a procedure call (PreResult). The string consists of 4 values for each loop which I then split into the y array.

I then want to transpose the array to the worksheet for sorting.

I don't really get the transpose to work as I want to. I want every 4:th y to be printed on a new row (x). I don't really know how to use the Ubound function to get it right.

Should I make a 2 dimensional array instead ? If so, how is that made ?

Dim x As Integer, z As Integer
Dim var_Status As Integer
Dim var_Week As String
Dim var_HoursPerWeek As Integer
Dim PreString As String

i = var_StartWeekNr
j = var_RangeNumberOfWeeks
z = 0
x = 0
var_Status = 0
var_Week = ""
var_HoursPerWeek = 0
PreString = ""
