Sorting Data With Blanks Instead Of Repeats

I have a sheet with 12k plus lines of data... Attached is a sample.

I am trying to sort by any one of the column headings, without losing the order of the ADDRESS field.. Sometimes there are 2 lines, sometimes there are 3 lines of ADDRESS... Also, the first column, "DBA" has 2 lines sometimes 3 lines per entry... When I try to sort, it tells me I have to unmerge the cells.. but then when i sort, it alphebetizes everything seperatley so the addresses get splut up...

Sorting Within One Cell + Eliminate Repeats

Cell 1 has 1,2,3,4,5
Cell 2 has 2,4,5,7,9

While combing them into one cell, there will be no repeat of the same number. So the outcome would be

1,2,3,4,5,7,9

The main point here is to merge the two cells together and eliminate the repeated numbers and sorting the numbers in a cell. Or if anyone knows series of steps not just one function to get to this.

Sorting Data That Has Blanks In Some Columns

This is driving me crazy. I have a sheet with 5 columns, and 13k + rows of data.

I attached an example of how its is formatted...

The problem is, in column A "DBA" and D, "Address", some of the data contain 2 rows, and others contain 3 rows.

When I try to sort by DATE, for example, it ends up splitting up the addresses alphabetically...

How can I sort this data, by any of the columns, while still keeping the ADDRESS together?

I hope this makes sense to someone because it is driving me NUTS.

Sorting With Blanks Involved

I need to sort a dataset by a column that may sometimes contain blanks. I'm sorting by time in decending order however excel is keeping any blank rows at the top.

Is there a way i can sort the column decending but keep the blanks at the bottom?

Excel 2003 :: Ignore Blanks When Sorting A List?

I am using Excel 2003.

I have a pivot table in sheet1 and references in sheet2 like

Code:
='Sheet1'!A1
and so on to copy the whole thing to make it the source data for a bubble chart.

Now, I want to convert the table in sheet2 into a list via Ctrl+L to be able to sort by names with a dropdown menu. Unfortunately, I have to copy all rows from 1 to 1000 to account for possible increases in the pivot table size. This results in blanks in the list and when I want to sort it, I have 990 blanks before the first data rows show up. Not very neat

I want it to copy the new member to the membership sheet but not any existing members.

Identify Repeats Of Data

I have four columns of numbers that range between 1 through 44 and span 100 rows. Each row shows a unique combination as shown below:

Row 1 - 07 18 11 09
Row 2 - 03 29 08 05
Row 3 - 01 20 11 44
Row 4 - 09 17 14 24
Row 5 - 18 11 20 26
etc...

Can anyone give me some tips on creating a VBA script that will scan a hundred rows of the data shown above and identify for me the rows where number pairs and number triples repeat? For example the data above shows that the pairs "18 , 11" repeat on Row 5 and Row 1. Can EXCEL perform such a task with the right VBA script or forumula? Is a VBA script necessary or will using an ARRAY be the correct way?

I don't believe my earlier post was a duplicat thread. I posted the original thread, then posted a LINK to the original thread. I didn't even ask the question in the link, so there was no way someone would have wasted time answering the question from there. I didn't think I was breaching protocal. Anyway, since both instances of the thread were closed, here is the re-post.

I've recently been trying to learn a little about pivot tables. In the example attached, I have 2 worksheets. One holds raw data collected from suppliers, the other holds a default pivot table created from that data.

Data Validation List: Ignore Blanks Between Data

In column A I have a list of text. There are blank lines in between the cell that actually contain text. What I am trying to accomplish is create a validation list that will give me only the cells with text in them and ignore the blanks. For example in column A1:A7 I have the following text:

John
Mike

Tony

Jake

My validation list will return those names but will also give me the blanks in between the names.

Is there any way to ignore the blanks?

SUMIFS Only UNTIL The Number Repeats

I have the following figures in my spreadsheet and I have been trying to use SUMIFS. However, I don't want to count values in a continuous way, rather than that, I need to count the values ONLY until the number that is being counted repeats.

Example: Spreadsheet from Column Q1 to Column Q6:

Q1 Controlling
Q2 8
Q3 8
Q4 8
Q5 8
Q6 8

On this case, the Excel would count the number 8 five times in this array. However, If there were more number just below the number 8, it would count them as well and that's not what I am looking for.

Q1 Controlling
Q2 8
Q3 8
Q4 8
Q5 8
Q6 8
Q7 5
Q7 8

What do I need is not to count them when the number being counted has stopped to appear eventhough it can be found at Q7.

For my needs the answer should be that the number 8 was counted 5 five times rather than 6.

SUM Last 6 Cells With Data (ignoring Blanks In Between)

I want to count back the last 6 cells in column S which has data (ignoring any blank cells) and add them up.

My data is ranging betwen S62:S143 (with S144 being the cell that I want to show the total for the last 6 cells with data). I have column headings and various other bits of data from S1:S61 that I want to exclude completely but need to keep for historical purposes.

Here is an example of some of the data in column S:

I have tried adding a negative and positive number on the end of the COUNTA formula but all it does is count all the cells within that given heigh range, not a specific number of cells with data.

I don't specifically need to use SUM. As long as I get a total.

I'm trying to do a Data Validation list where there is a range from A1:A10 named List, but there are only values in A1:A5.

For the drop down menu, I've done the Data Validation and List, and made it =List. The problem with that is, I only want the drop down to give the options if there is a value (A1:A5 not all of A1:A10). I thought that the Ignore blanks feature would do that, but it does absolutely nothing.

I am really amazed that I can't find a workable example for what I am trying to accomplish here...
For the most part, I can read and decipher VBA code...but when it comes to constructing my own code...I am deluged with syntax errors and run-time errors...

Here, specifically, is what I am trying to do:

I have a column...(Let's say Column A)...that contains 1300 items to start with.
Once an item is selected by the user, a new list is created in Column B that mirrors Column A with the "selected" items "removed"...(the cell is blank).

As each item is selected, (and "removed"), I want a third list created in Column C that lists all of the items in Column B, but skips the "blanks". ("Blanks" is in quotes to stress that these cells are NOT EMPTY. They each contain a formula).

Normally the user will select either Yes or No from column C but i want each time there is no value in either row A or B; i want the code to automatically to select Blank. In a chart if you display data labels is there a way of avoiding a zero being displayed if the relevant cell is the result of a formula?
It seems that even if the result of that formula is a blank or 'n/a' it is still displayed as 0.
