I am trying to doctor a recorded sort macro to adapt to a changing range.

With the code below I get:

I have tried with no luck:

Key:=Range("dat")
.SetRange Range("dat")
Key:=Range(dat)

Dynamic Sorting

Aug 11, 2009

i have a table with 4 columns: (customer name, revenue, expenses, profit)
in cell A1, i can select from either of the above headings and what i wanted to do is sort the mentioned table based on the heading that's selected in A1.

for example, if i select Customer name in A1, then the table in (B2:E12) is going to be sorted by customer names (alphabetical)....or if i select Revenue in A1, then the table will be sorted by revenue values...etc.

Dynamic Sorting In Table

Jul 10, 2009

Is it possible to have dynamic sorting in a table?

What I am after is a scoreboard type effect where as results are entered, the teams are sorted automatically, rather than entering all of the details and then doing a sort afterwards.

I have attached a table where I would like the sorting of columns B - E done in the following order (All decreasing order):

Comp Points first
then by Sets %
then by Points %

I am drawing this info from another table. Will this have an effect on if it can be sorted dynamically? Hoping that as i enter a result in the other table, it will bring across the current comp points, set % and points %, and then sort the table into the rankings all at once.

I am want him to be able put the order next to a list of people's names (the same 8 play) and then a dynamic sort will take place listing who goes first. Everything works great except it one or more people do not play then the sort lists them as "N/A". Instead of "N/A" I want it to show up as a blank.

Sorting Dynamic List Of Data?

Apr 15, 2014

have data in the attached file arranged as follows:

"Source Data" sheet Data in columns A to L will be updated daily by pasting from another workbook. On any given day the data in columns A to L may have more or fewer rows than the day before.

"Lookup Table" sheet The aim is to return the data from the "Source Data" sheet; the selection depends on the Data Validation choice in cell O1.

I would like to be able to sort this dynamic list of data - ideally by clicking a single button - in descending order of the values in column L.

Sorting Data In Dynamic Ranges

Feb 6, 2014

In the attached workbook I have hard-pasted data in columns A:M that's designated as an Excel Table to make it dynamic.

In the adjacent columns O:AA I have formulae to extract data from A:M based on the "Frequency" stipulated in cell AD1,

I would like to be able easily to sort the data in the variable sized range in columns O to AA in descending order of the calculated values in column Z.

Best way to do this so that the formula don't get jumbled up or the blank cells in column Z end up at the top of the sorted data?

Sorting Data With Dynamic Size Using VBA

I currently have two tables in one worksheet showing the sales of different region.

The problem is, when I sort the data (I can't used the named ranges as it should exclude the first row which is the header), is there a way I can make it dynamic too??

Code:

Dynamic Macro For Sorting Columns

May 11, 2007

I regularly get a sheet that contains about 20 columns. I need to delete about 14 of them, and re-order the columns to a fixed order.
The columns always have the same headers, but are ofter in different positions (so I cannot hardcode the column location).
I have tried using the following, but fail on trying to use the result of the find in the selection afterwards.
I also do not know how to loop this through a list of column names (as I said, the input always has the same column names, and I always have to delete the same columns, and sort the remaining).

Sub Sort_My_Columns()

Cells.Find(What:="name1", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt _
:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _
False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate
myRow = ActiveCell.Row
MyCol = ActiveCell.Column
Columns("myRow:myRow").Select
Selection.Cut
Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.Insert Shift:=xlToRight
Range("A1").Select

End Sub

i.e.

Second dynamic range: called "Activities" at A25

I was hoping that then when i go to data > Pivot table and it asks for the range i could put =Data but it tells me that the range is invalid. I have attached a copy at the bottom.

Convert Dynamic Range To Static Named Range

Sep 13, 2007

My searches have not produced anything that I could apply to this situation.

I'm trying to write VBA that would:

1. Search a Workbook for Dynamic Ranges.

2. When a Dynamic Range is found the code would:

A. Determine the current coordinates for the range.
B. Change the "Refers To" value From "=OFFSET...." To "=Worksheet_Name $Column$Row:$Column$Row"

3. Save Changes.

4. Close File.

My apologies but I have very little experience in writing VBA. I understand about variables, arguments, and IF/THEN but just enough to use functions within Excel.

Set Range Variable To Growing Dynamic Range

I have been working on part of the code for my spreadsheet and it works fine in the spreadsheet “Databaseform” however when I copied the code to my master spreadsheet “Paul_PartLocDBCombo” it does not work, I get the error:

Method ‘ range’ of object ‘_worksheet’ failed
The code is then highlighted in yellow, the code is:
Set rng = wksPartsData.Range("a1", Range("a65536").End(xlUp))

Meaning this part is incorrect but I don’t know why? To work it: go to Databaseform and press start. Enter 7mm in the product field and press find all. It will then return all the matching results in the userform. Its this I want to try and achieve on the other spreadsheet when the button find label is pressed.

Sorting A Range Of Numbers?

May 28, 2014

I'm attempting to create a formula that'll sort a range of numbers and then return the corresponding values based on a specific place within the sorted range.

In this case, I'd like the following numbers sorted smallest to largest:

15, 9, 11, 19, 22, 17, 24, 19, 17, 24

The result would return something like:

9, 11, 15, 17, 17, 19, 19, 22, 24, 24

Then I'd like it to return the value based off of the formula in cell U13 & U14. In this case, it'd return the value in the 2nd and the 9th position (bolded above). I tried to use INDEX(), but it's returning the values in the unsorted list. I'd like it to return values from a sorted list. Also, I'm trying to solve this using a formula (not Sort & Filter) or VBA.

Sorting A Range Of Cells

Jan 10, 2008

I am using Excel 2003 and am after a macro that can sort a specific range of cells.

I have a spreadsheet that is used to record details of photos taken during bridge inspections.

•The details of the photos are recorded in column B
•The number of the digital photo is recorded in column C (the number of photos taken per inspection varies)
•After checking by someone else the photos are assigned a number in column A

After two blank rows that process is repeated for another inspection.

I am after a macro that when a cell within a range/block is selected it will sort columns A:C by the numerical order of the range block within column A.
For example when any cell is selected within the range A3:C7, that range and only that range will be sorted.

The same would happen when a cell is selected within range A11:C15, and so on....

I'm not an Excel expert so I'd like to know is there any way I could get the cell names to sort with their data.

Sorting Range Based On String Variable

Jul 31, 2014

I have a spreadsheet with column headers like, "Date" "Phone number" "Name" ect., and rows of data below. Each of these rows contains data pertaining to a prospect employee, as the purpose of the spreadsheet is to keep track of job applicants. One column is used as a 'Recruiter Sign-off' area, where the recruiter who processed the application inputs their name:

Example.png

I'm trying to automate a variation of excels sort function. However, I don't want to sort 'From A to Z.' Instead, I want to have the rows of data sorted with the 'Recruiter Sign-off' column used as the sort Key, and a selected name (of one of the recruiters) used as the sort Criteria.

I already have a userform that allows the user to select a name from a listbox. When they press confirm, the name is stored in a Public String variable, (selectedRecruiter). I'd like then like to have the rows below the column headers to be sorted based on the selected name. Example: User selects the name "Jon" from a list. The application then brings all of the applicants that 'Jon' has signed off on (those rows that contain his name) to the top rows of the range.

The workbook is shared, so I cannot use tables.

I found a code that accomplished what I want, however it also leads to a horrible system crash after a few times running it (BEX crash).
