have data in the attached file arranged as follows:
"Source Data" sheet Data in columns A to L will be updated daily by pasting from another workbook. On any given day the data in columns A to L may have more or fewer rows than the day before.
"Lookup Table" sheet The aim is to return the data from the "Source Data" sheet; the selection depends on the Data Validation choice in cell O1.
I would like to be able to sort this dynamic list of data - ideally by clicking a single button - in descending order of the values in column L.
In the attached workbook I have hard-pasted data in columns A:M that's designated as an Excel Table to make it dynamic.
In the adjacent columns O:AA I have formulae to extract data from A:M based on the "Frequency" stipulated in cell AD1,
I would like to be able easily to sort the data in the variable sized range in columns O to AA in descending order of the calculated values in column Z.
Best way to do this so that the formula don't get jumbled up or the blank cells in column Z end up at the top of the sorted data?
I currently have two tables in one worksheet showing the sales of different region.
The problem is, when I sort the data (I can't used the named ranges as it should exclude the first row which is the header), is there a way I can make it dynamic too??
** The Europe table is from A1:G5 where Row 1 is the Header and Row 5 is the Total
I've attached a spreadsheet showing the effect I'm trying to achieve. A list (which changes weekly) contains employee details and length of service. Based on the length of service I need to build a new list grouping the employees based on the service length.
I have the attached workbook that contains a list of produce in the Produce sheet and I am wanting to have the Availability sheet show what produce is available each day sorted into Good, Limited and None as per the data on the Produce sheet. I should end up with a list of each type of produce listed under the relevant availability each day.
Sorry but I have limited knowledge of VB, I assume that the best way to do this is some code behind the Availability worksheet but I am not able to determine what this code should look like.
I need to create a dynamic list from a table of data.
I have performance data for 110 different pumps. Data points are generated every hour, and the table is updated with new data periodically. I want to automate the population of a list of 6 different pumps, and specify the date range populated. To put it another way: I want to place data from Pumps 1 through 6 for all of November into Columns A through F. Then I want to clear that data, and show data for Pumps 105-110 for last week in those same Columns.
One of the main goals of doing this -- other than quickly narrowing a field of data -- is being able to quickly chart this data on a scatter plot with a custom format. The pumps are grouped together by region, and individual pumps have specific purposes. So I need to quickly generate graphs with a series' color scheme or formatting that is consistent and logical between different pumping regions.
I haven't been able to make pivot table work because of the graphing issue, and also because of the way it handles data points and presents data. I would like to make this work with excel functions and maybe some filtering, but I'm not opposed to figuring out a VB script if you think that's what I should use.
Is it possible to have a dependent validation drop box that under certain conditions automatically produces an actual value in the cell instead of a drop-down list to choose from? For example, if I choose “Holy Avenger” in the first drop box, and the value for that choice in the second drop box is always a “2”, can you get it to auto-populate in the cell occupied by that 2nd drop box (cell B5 in the attachment)? Or, are you restricted to using Lists only, meaning that you could create a List that only has the value “2” in it, and the user would be required to choose the “2” in the drop box?
I'm working on trying to maintain an inventory management sheet where i basically enter all the spare parts issued to vehicles. Now there are more than 700 parts dat form the components of a vehicle, so i decided to split this list into 12 spare groups(Gear, Engine, Body, Axle, etc etc..) and then based on wotever spare group being selected my sheet wud pull dat specific spare group list. Since i've worked with indirect function before i thought this was a piece of cake!
However when i actually sat working on getting my sheet together i realised its not gonna be dat easy! Basically my spare group lists are a work in progress and so new items would/may be added to these lists as we start working on this sheet. So i decided to make them dynamic by using the offset function. But list validation fails when i use Indirect function on dynamic ranges!
I am trying to populate a listbox in a userform using a dynamic list of data in column Y or worksheet "varhold".
Here is my code:
Code: Private Sub Userform2_Initialize() With UserForm2.listbox1 RowSource = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("varhold").Range("offset($y$1,0,0,counta($y:$y),1)") .BoundColumn = 1 .ColumnHeads = False .ColumnCount = 3 End With
End Sub
When I run this procedure, the box is blank. There is no list.
i have a table with 4 columns: (customer name, revenue, expenses, profit) in cell A1, i can select from either of the above headings and what i wanted to do is sort the mentioned table based on the heading that's selected in A1.
for example, if i select Customer name in A1, then the table in (B2:E12) is going to be sorted by customer names (alphabetical)....or if i select Revenue in A1, then the table will be sorted by revenue values...etc.
Is it possible to have dynamic sorting in a table?
What I am after is a scoreboard type effect where as results are entered, the teams are sorted automatically, rather than entering all of the details and then doing a sort afterwards.
I have attached a table where I would like the sorting of columns B - E done in the following order (All decreasing order):
Comp Points first then by Sets % then by Points %
I am drawing this info from another table. Will this have an effect on if it can be sorted dynamically? Hoping that as i enter a result in the other table, it will bring across the current comp points, set % and points %, and then sort the table into the rankings all at once.
Currently I get a 1004 error. "Method of Range of Object _Global Failed" on "Range(Selection).Sort.SortFields.Clear"
Code: Sub sortBacklog() Dim appExcel As Excel.Application Dim myWorkbook As Excel.Workbook Dim myWorkSheet As Worksheet Set appExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") Set myWorkbook = appExcel.Workbooks.Open("C:Backlog.xls") Set myWorkSheet = myWorkbook.Sheets(1)
I am attempting with a simple spreadsheet he can use on the golf course on a Treo (so no macros I believe can be used). I am want him to be able put the order next to a list of people's names (the same 8 play) and then a dynamic sort will take place listing who goes first. Everything works great except it one or more people do not play then the sort lists them as "N/A". Instead of "N/A" I want it to show up as a blank.
I have a range which will change in size & in content, & I want this to be a Named Range at whatever size it is.
Reason I want to is because I want to make a Validation List with this dynamic range. I also want a Validation list which lists the content of 2 or more dynamic ranges which may or may not be on the same worksheet - is this possible?
i.e. First dynamic range: called "Milestones" at A11 Second dynamic range: called "Activities" at A25 & make a Validation list that will list content of both
I have a complicated situation with Excel since I need a formula that can SUM data from the Pull 1 worksheet into the summary Sheet. I attached my sample for your reference because it is a bit complicated therefore I can not explain. It is better if you look at my Summary Sheet, need formula that can retrieve the same information.
I have a financial dataset which I need to "clean" before manipulating/analysing.
Each row of the data represents a completed transaction and the first step is to delete rows that are done with particular (internal) clients; the client data (the client's name) is in Column D.
Currently, I delete the unwanted data by autofilter and delete (code below), however this means the clients to be deleted are only defined within the code. I would prefer to have a worksheet within the workbook where the user defines the clients by adding or subtracting their name from a list.
I have created a dynamic range for the client list by inserting a Named variable along the lines of "=OFFSET(!$B$3,1,0,COUNTA($B$3:$B$200)-1," which works fine.
However how do I work this list into my code so that it works when new clients are added or deleted?
Current code for deleting unwanted client data:
Sub filterdelete()
Dim LastRow As Long LastRow = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count
I regularly get a sheet that contains about 20 columns. I need to delete about 14 of them, and re-order the columns to a fixed order. The columns always have the same headers, but are ofter in different positions (so I cannot hardcode the column location). I have tried using the following, but fail on trying to use the result of the find in the selection afterwards. I also do not know how to loop this through a list of column names (as I said, the input always has the same column names, and I always have to delete the same columns, and sort the remaining).
I have a dynamic table which is linked to a couple of charts. The table must remain dynamic.
I needed to add two new columns to the table, "Focus Area" and "Category". I need a drop down list in the "Category" column to be dependent on the item selected from a drop down menu in "Focus Area".
I can get the first row of the dynamic table to do this.... however; subsequent rows all lock the drop down list in the "Category" column to the same choices regardless of what is chosen in the "Focus Area" list.
Is there a way to make dynamic drop downs within a dynamic table?
I have a question on the above but can't seem to find a solution. There are two ways that I can find for dealing with dynamic lists via data validation:-
1) Offset and match, cavet being the data must be sorted a-z 2) Have lists for each potential selection
Is there any way to get around 1 without having to do 2? E.g. Got two columns of data, unsorted, and a list from which the user can choose from. The user chooses from the list in first cell, in the second cell require the dynamic list to return all the values accordingly?
I have a database being exported to a spreadsheet with over 40 fields (columns) and 1000+ clients (rows). One of the fields (column C) incidates that referral source. I would like to copy & paste the list into sheet 1 and have 5 seperate sheets for each of the 5 different referral sources. So that when I go to sheet 2 the only thing I will see are the clients and their 40 associated fields that are referred (column C) by say "John Smith"
Is there a function or script that will search column C for "John Smith" and then fill in all the 40 fields on sheet 2.
I have a large list of names that I am breaking into three groups based on last name (A-G, H-M, and N-Z). The spreadsheet is then sent to a group of processors who work on the names that are found on their tab.
I start out with the complete list on each tab. Then I use a For Next loop to go through each tab and delete the rows for the names that do not below on that tab. This process is working fine, but I am figuring their is a better method of doing it.
Code: Sub PopShts() Dim wsAG As Worksheet, wsHM As Worksheet, wsNZ As Worksheet Dim lRow As Long
I have a spreadsheet with a list of jobs in it, with a bunch of columns describing various aspects of the job. (Supervisor, department, etcetera.)
I also have a priority column.
What I'm looking for is to have my list renumber itself when I change the priority on jobs.
For example:
Priority Job Name Supervisor 1 Dig Ditch Ben 2 Fix Window Sira 3 Check C2 Cory 4 Check SS Ben
Let's say I change "Check C2" to be priority 1, I would like my priority list to re-order itself to:
Priority Job Name Supervisor 2 Dig Ditch Ben 3 Fix Window Sira 1 Check C2 Cory 4 Check SS Ben
Also, bear in mind that the list might not always be sorted by priority. It is just as likely to be sorted by Supervisor or one of the other columns not mentioned here. Data Validation keeps the numbers whole & positive.
My problem is mostly thus...
I try and capture the change through Worksheet_Change. However, each time it increments one of the priorities, it runs the Worksheet_Change event again, giving me priorities in a nice Fibbonacci-looking sequence. Aesthetically & mathematically interesting, but totally incorrect.
Also, for some reason, if I delete the last job (or just the priority of the last job), it never terminates the code, and runs, incrementing the code and pushing my priorities up & up & up.
This is my
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Rows.Count = 1 And Target.Columns.Count = 1 Then If Chr(Target.Column + 64) = PriorityColumn And Target.Row > SortRow Then Dim Changed As Boolean Dim Max As Integer: Max = 0 Dim i As Integer
I have a list of movie titles A3-A9999(Infinity), their disc numbers in B3-B9999(Infinity). The titles being written in text, of course.
All I want to do, is have another list, in the same sheet in D3-D9999 that will be the same list as the original list that I input movies onto, except alphabetical and automatic from when I type in the movie title in the original list. When i just use "=A1, =A2, =A3 ~~~ =A999" in the D cells, then try to sort, it only sorts by the cell numbers, not by the actual text that I want it to.
Is there a way to do this? I know excel relatively well, but I'm definitely a noob compared to experts.
I'm having some problems sorting a list of numbers that some are larger than others, but it would sort it by how large the number is in regards to 123 or 45... 45 would go first instead of 123... I tried to change the column to numbers but it still won't work. as well as in the custom sort section. I'll try to upload a sample...
I have a list of potential competitors in an event, and am using both RAND and ROUND to sort them into a list of 1's and zeros. My formula is as follows: =ROUND(RAND()*1,0). My problem is that I get an uneven distribution of players, out of a list of forty, I may have 38 people that are 1's and 2 people that are 2's. I'd really like the list to be randomized, but evenly to allow for fair competition.
with this problem (which I've been trying for weeks to solve).
I have a column ("C") of 640 numbers, which I need to randomly sort and place into the adjoining (ten thousand) columns. I then need to correlate each of these 10k columns with column "B".
The problem I have with the attached (which works for small numbers), is that when I increase the table size to 640 rows and anything more than a dozen or so columns, it takes forever to calculate and Excel often crashes.
I need to create a table with the top 14 'ReNo' for each code listed in columns F1-R1. These need to be in chronological order. Also if the code is part of the latest date then that first ReNo. needs to be ignored (since it will not have completed its cycle).
getting to the formula I have but I can't get it to sort in these ways, so as it is its not working right.
1) If there is a zero (null) value in all 3 months, these records should be at the bottom sorted by record name (I did not show this field in my file). 2) If there is a non-zero (non-null) value in any of the 3 months, the records will be sorted with each other by total change.
Is there a way to do this without me doing sorts multiple times and manually moving rows of data around (which is what I have done to arrive at the list I have attached)? I am not experienced with VBA or Macros, and would prefer a detailed explanation if a solution is using either method.
