Start Function Range Reference Row From Cell Value

Is there a way to start match from a relative position?
Say a match I have in column "A" returns 344. Is it possible to start a new match for column "B" from that spot, instead of having it return a match starting at the top?

I am trying to use the AVERAGEIF function to give calculate averages based on dynamic data. The formula I want to work is:
[Code].....
but this returns the "#DIV/0!" error.
However,
[Code] ....
returns the correct value.
I want to be able to calculate averages of only the cells that are greater than the value of cell D6. Is there a way to do this?

How would I used the indirect function to reference a named range in the workbook in formula creation.
For instance, if in cell A1 I have entered the text "Sales" which is also a named range in the workbook. Then in cell A2 I tried entering the following formula to sum based on the entry in cell A1 using the indirect funtion. For instance:
=sum(indirect(A1))
In this instance I was hoping this formula would then sum the amounts in the "Sales" named range. And, if I changed the text in cell A1 to "Cost" for instance (another named range in the workbook), it would sum the amounts in the "Cost" named range. Allowing for a dynamic formula based on the entry in cell A1.
I'm using Excel 2007.

I have a split named range covering non-contiguous areas, ie:
Name: status_web
Range: =$F$14:$I$122,$F$700:$I$746,$F$798:$I$830,$F$905:$I$933
This appears to work fine when selecting the name however it returns a #VALUE! error when using it in a formula, eg: = COUNTIF(status_web, "*p*"). Is there any way to get this to work, or do I need a separate named range for each contiguous section? NOTE: Not sure whether this extra fact would through a spanner in the works, but I am referencing this named range from a separate workbook.

I have set up regression in excel using the linest array function which automaticly updates whenever the data it is references changes. Currently the formula in K3 =
=LINEST(K8:K50,M8:N50,TRUE,TRUE) .
Only the Y range in column K changes and then the formula automaticly recalculates the regression parameters. However sometimes the range of valid data changes with each new update so currently K8 to K50 contains valid values and so the formula works. But if the range of valid data now ends at say K45, and the remaining rows (K46- K450) contains #DIV/0!. In this case the formula does not work and I need to go in manualy into K3 and reselect the range to get it to work (in the baove case to =LINEST(K8:K45,M8:N45,TRUE,TRUE)
Is there anyway I can get the formula to update the range (the number of rows to use) in the calculation automaticly so I don't have to go into the formula in K3 and change the range manually everytime the data changes? Basicly I like to use all rows in column K (from K8 to K50) where there is a values and ignore cells with #DIV/0!
I'm guessing the easiest way to do this would be to set up a dynamic range of some sort that feeds into the linest array function so that the end row reference for columns K and M & N changes depending on where the first #DIV/0! occurs in column K.

I would like to create a dynamic range of numeric type in a single column. Only the precise position of one middle cell is known, let's say $A$20, but the range is supposed to extend above and below $A$20 and to finally include all adjunctive, positive and negative numbers in that very column.
Having read the ozgrid-resources on dynamic ranges let me experiment with the following line, however, it seems to include all entries in the column disregarding the format type or the fact that they should all be adjunctive (meaning that wherever there's a text entry it should be seen as the natural end of it): ....

I need to create a range of cells in Column A. I know the first cell, A2. The final occupied cell will vary. Once I have the range object I would like to step through and analyse each cell in turn using a For/Each loop.
The code I have so far is:
Public all_structures As Range 'Range required for for/each loop Column
Public last_structure As Range 'Last cell in Column
Public molcell As Range 'Current cell in range
' Establish range of cells in Column A
Set last_structure = Range("A2").End(xlDown)
Set all_structures = Range(Range("A2"), Range(last_structure)) ***
' Loop through each structure in turn
For Each molcell In all_structures
Loop code In here
Next molcell
When I run I get an error message of "Run-time error '1004': Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed". It does not like the line marked ***.

I'm using this formula (in Cells D4:D10) to tabulate hours being spent on various testing activity categories (N,O,R,E,U,A,D). Is there a method I can use to permit me to change the range of cells being tabulated using Named Ranges or some sort of substitution?
= SUMIF($C$15:$C$89,C4,OFFSET($C$15:$C$89,0,4))
for example I would like to use the value I present in cell A2 as the starting point (for the range) & B2 as the end point (for the range) of cells being evaluated. In other words the improved formula would look like this.
=SUMIF(A2:B2,C4,OFFSET(A2:B2,0,4)) -or something like that-
See attached for reference!

I have a workbook with a Summary sheet and then a series of sheets for each month/year. Onthe summary sheet I use column A for the month/year as a date formatted "mmm yy" ie the same as the sheet names.
in columns B,C,D I want formulae that sums or averages a fixed range on each sheet but I would like the formula to take the sheet name from Columa A rather than hard coding it.
So that in the example =SUM('Dec 04'!$C$6:$C$47) I want to take the "Dec 04" from the text in cell A3

I have a column of numbers, on which i would like to perform subtraction, in a way that the cell in the (i)th row will be subtracted from the one in the (i+x)th row, while x is a parameter that the user can change as he wishes.
My problem is how to refer to the cell address and still use this conditional reference...
If anyone has an idea how to realize this calculation (which should be peanuts in Matlab, but apparently more problematic in Excel),

I am trying to acccess a cell value from a seperate worksheet. The cell reference needs to be generated by a seperate formula. In this example
=DSInfo!C28 // provides the correct result i.e the contents of cell C28 on worsheet DSInfo =MATCH(A4,DSInfo!C1:C35,0) //provides the correct row number - in this case 28
However on trying to combine the two =DSInfo!C&MATCH(A4,DSInfo!C1:C35,0) // provides only a formula error. I'm guessing this is a simple syntax error on my part but after hours of trying various ways I'm still having no luck.

I have problem with a spreadsheet that I am trying to create.
I have a large sheet of data which is dumped in from another program. This contains our deliveries and orders etc.
Now for planning purposes, I would like to see how much of each item I have on order.
I can use VLOOKUP, but that will only give me the amount for the first order it encounters. But not the 3rd, 4th etc. I could use SUMIF but I need the dates as well. After doing some searching I think I have found a way of doing this: I can get the first easier enough:
=VLOOKUP(D$11,'purchase order'!$A$1:$K$6000,5,FALSE), this gives the first order than the another =VLOOKUP(D11,'purchase order'!$A$1:$K$6000,11,FALSE) for its date.
For the second column to check any other orders I thought I could find the cell referance for the first SEARCH: which is
A108: ="A"&MATCH(D11,'purchase order'!A:A,0).
Is there any way of using this Reference to start a new VLOOKUP. So the Lookup Range starts at this reference?? To make things harder it is on another sheet.

In the reference section I need to take the style number and reference it back to the data sheet. Then take the possible combinations from that style (column E and greater) and see if any of those combinations exist on the other sheet in column D. If so then say added....otherwise say needed.
"....In Pricing Sheet" is where I am looking to put needed or added or something like it.

I have a list of headings and items and I have a set of formulas that work out depending on the heading what items are listed.
Say theres 10 items and the heading starts at C4 and that heading has 10 items, so it puts "C5" as text in G1 and "C15" as text in G2 so i now know my cell range of items
How can i use the text in those cells to put in a formula to call that as a range?
If I use the indirect formula it shows me the value of the cell, but im after using it to reference the cell

I have a table as follows: [URL] - note: cells containing times and temperatures are numeric values, I've used custom formatting to add " mins" and "°C" on the end
In one cell, a user can input a time period (in mins), and in another cell, I would like to output the start and end columns (in letter/s) for the chosen time.
For example, in the link above, if the value inputted '30' then the start column is 'C' and the end column is 'G'. If the user had inputted '60', then the results would be 'H' and 'K', etc.
I am able to find the start column with the following equation:
=SUBSTITUTE(ADDRESS(1,MATCH(VALUE,C2:P2,0)+2,4),"1","")
I am struggling, however, to find the end column for the chosen time.
If each time had the same number of temperatures then it would be a simple case of adding the number of temperatures per time, minus 1, after the "+2".
My first idea was to copy the above function, but to change the "0" in the MATCH function to "-1", in order to find the next greatest time value. However, it appears that using "-1" in the MATCH function only works if the range is in descending order - my times are always in ascending order.
I have a further problem in that the time periods are not always the same values (i.e. it won't always be 30-60-90-120, it could for example be 30-45-60-75). So as far as I know, there is no way in advance of knowing the next time period up (and then subsequently taking one column to the left).
One possible workaround I have considered involves the following:
- Add a new row between rows 2 and 3, which has the time values in each cell (i.e. from column C, values of 30-30-30-30-30-60-60-60-60-90-90-90-120-120) - effectively duplicating the time row, but not merging cells
- Use the COUNTIF function to find the number of cells in that row containing the chosen time
- Add this value, minus 1, after the "+2" in the above formula, i.e. =SUBSTITUTE(ADDRESS(1,MATCH(VALUE,C2:P2,0)+2+COUNTIF(C3:P3,"="&VALUE")-1,4),"1","")
