I would like to create a dynamic range of numeric type in a single column. Only the precise position of one middle cell is known, let's say $A$20, but the range is supposed to extend above and below $A$20 and to finally include all adjunctive, positive and negative numbers in that very column.
Having read the ozgrid-resources on dynamic ranges let me experiment with the following line, however, it seems to include all entries in the column disregarding the format type or the fact that they should all be adjunctive (meaning that wherever there's a text entry it should be seen as the natural end of it): ....
I have a sheet of data from a SQL server in Sheet1 that will be updated periodically. The data is basically structured in a date (column A), and value (column B) format.
I'm trying to create some graph functionality so that it would be possible to graph desired ranges of the data by only entering start and end dates.
That is, in Sheet 2, I enter, say, 12/31/1990 in A1, and 12/10/2006, in A2, and a column is created in SHEET3 that represents this data. The request is similar to 'datebetween' in a pivot table. It would be ok if the data created is a pivot table, however, I've struggled to find a way to do this. It seems that any range you name cannot use variables.
If this question is misleading, I'm trying to use the code Sheet2.Range("A1:A10").CopySheet1.Range("A2")
However, I want "A1:A10" to be variables. Something like:
Sheet1.Range("Range("F6").Value:Range("F9").Value").Copy Sheet2.Range("A2")***Note: this doesn't work b/c of range object.
I need to create a range of cells in Column A. I know the first cell, A2. The final occupied cell will vary. Once I have the range object I would like to step through and analyse each cell in turn using a For/Each loop.
The code I have so far is:
Public all_structures As Range 'Range required for for/each loop Column Public last_structure As Range 'Last cell in Column Public molcell As Range 'Current cell in range
' Establish range of cells in Column A
Set last_structure = Range("A2").End(xlDown) Set all_structures = Range(Range("A2"), Range(last_structure)) ***
' Loop through each structure in turn For Each molcell In all_structures
Loop code In here
Next molcell
When I run I get an error message of "Run-time error '1004': Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed". It does not like the line marked ***.
Is there a way to start match from a relative position?
Say a match I have in column "A" returns 344. Is it possible to start a new match for column "B" from that spot, instead of having it return a match starting at the top?
Line of code that will Select a Named Range in this case I have Named a CELL "DataSummary" Need to use that named range by selecting 30 columns and 54 rows.
I need to create a dynamic range based on cell between a header and footer cell. The header cell ( A8 ) will remain static, however, the footer cell starts at A10 and then will move down as rows are added.
I want to use the offset function in a named range to be the data source for a column of sparklines, I want the sparkline to grow incrementally as data is updated per month.
The data in the table I want to add sparkline to is pre-calculated with SUMIFS formulae, and updated monthly from a dump of detailed data. I am trying to automate this as much as possible, and have pre-calculated future performance data in the table. I used an IFERROR to return a hyphen for the future reporting months.
The problem is, the sparkline is reading the hyphen as zero value, and the sparkline is showing as if it was reporting data to the end of the reporting period.
So my question is - is there a better IFERROR option that wouldn't be read as data, or is there a way to define the range by date compared to a data date?
I have a example. I have 4 columns. first 3 columns ID, C1, C2 have the input data. Under a ID we have multiple number of rows. In this example we have 4 rows for ID1. But in real time it can be any number of rows under a single ID. When I click a button the values under ID 1 should get concatenated and stored under the Concatenate column.
I tried some macros but i cant get the logic behind finding the dynamically changing row counts under single ID.
I have a range which will change in size & in content, & I want this to be a Named Range at whatever size it is.
Reason I want to is because I want to make a Validation List with this dynamic range. I also want a Validation list which lists the content of 2 or more dynamic ranges which may or may not be on the same worksheet - is this possible?
i.e. First dynamic range: called "Milestones" at A11 Second dynamic range: called "Activities" at A25 & make a Validation list that will list content of both
In my macro, NextRow is defined as the first empty row in a set of data (NextRow = Range("A1000").End(xlUp).Row + 1). How would I clear the contents of Columns A:H in NextRow in VBA, keeping in mind that NextRow is always different for each worksheet I'm working with?
Can you use Row & Column numbers in a Formula the way you can in VBA?
I want to do the same as Range(Cells(5,2)) in VBA EXCEPT in a Formula because I want to use named ranges for the Row & column entries. (And I don't want to have to run a macro every time a change is made. The spreadsheet is huge enough already. It's slow on my machine & I have the biggets baddest PC in the company!)
Using Formulas only, (not VBA) I would like to create a Dynamic Named Range, LastUsedRow, which is the ROW NUMBER of the Last Used Cell in Column C (it would = 470)
Also I have an existing Named Range HeaderRowNum (it = 16)
Currently I have a LOT of formulas like: =SUMPRODUCT(($E17:$E470)*(--(CO17:CO470>0)))
problem is any new data must be added between Rows 17 & 470
So I would like to create dynamic new forumlas to read like: SUMPRODUCT( (Cells(HeaderRowNum+1,5) : (LastUsed Row,5)) * (--(Cells(HeaderRowNum+1,93) : (LastUsed Row,93))>0) )...............
I have a spreadsheet where I've disallowed selection of multiple cells using the code in the 2nd box below, but is there a way to override this protection to allow selection of a named range? My reason for doing so is to open this workbook as read only from code in another workbook and copy the entire table. My code for doing that works ok (I frequently use it in other workbooks) but, in this case, my need to disallow selection of multiple cells in this particular worksheet is tripping me up.
This is the code I'm using to try and pull the data into another workbook:
and this is the code I have in RSL-Jobs-Register.xls which is preventing me from selecting the (dynamic) named range called "JobsTable".
Code:
''' I'm thinking I could have something here like (in plain English) "If selected range "JobsTable" Then" ''' (apply the code below) but I'm not sure of the code
If Selection.Cells.Count > 1 Then MsgBox "Sorry, operations on multiple selections aren't allowed here", vbCritical ActiveCell.Select Exit Sub End If
The formula for the dynamic named range called "JobsTable":
But this uses column A as the longest column... but sometimes it will be column I - how can the formula be adapted ? or can it be ? i've been looking at the Max function and trying to incorporate that but my limited brainpower has gone to mush.
I am having a few problems with dynamic named range in excel 2000.
When adding new data to the range, excel extends the range correctly, but only copies some of the formula correctly. It does not copy the formula that references a cell from another line.
I am trying to create a excel spreadsheet and have a formula =e10-e9, which does not copy down.
I'm working in Excel 2010. I'm trying to create a dynamic range, using the OFFSET function. I've got it working beautifully but as soon as I save it and close the Name Manager the range stops working. When I go back into Name Manager I find all the cell references have changed (from C1:C600 to C1048572:C595 - or some other strange range).
P.S. What it's doing isn't so important as when the cell references are right it works. But just for full info: It's an OFFSET function, starting at A1. It will look at a list of companies and use a Match function to find out how many rows to offset (based on where the first instance of a particular company. And it uses the COUNTIF to make the range the same number of rows as there are entries for that company.
Column A is the list of start dates, and Column B is the list of end dates to be used at the variables. Column C is a list of dates, and Column D is the corresponding temperature data to Column C.
What I would like to do is create a new column (E) that sums the temperature data from Column D based on the start and end dates from Column A and B respectively (these dates to be used to match the dates in Column C).
I have a list of players and the team they play for in Columns A and B.
In column E I have created a list of only unique names and in F I need the Team the played for last. However with Vlookup I am only getting the team they played for first. How can I get the team they played for last?
I have tried vlookup and index/match and get the same.
can anyone help me how to create a macro which will copy range of data based on a criteria? I have a worksheet which contains dates on column C rows C30:C64, dates would start from march 29 to may 2. how can I copy the range of data from April 1 to April 30? the criteria which will be copied will always be the start of the of the month up to the end of the month...meaning if the dates placed is like April 26 to June 6, it would automatically extract the range for May 1 to May 31 and place this on another sheet.
I have a daily collection of data based on half hour meter readings. Responsibility for this data is to be split between core and non-core hours so for example core hours would be from 6:00 to 18:30.
What i would like to do is have a combobox for both the start time and end time allowing the user to change these as appropriate.
Where i'm struggling is using these comboboxes to select the data between these two times and total the values per row.
My data is currently arranged with the times (staring at 00:00) running horizontally on row 14.
I'm trying to write a bit of code that will allow me to clear some sheets. One of the sheets has formula for x number of rows, and these need to be left intact. Under these forumla there is an area where data is pasted, and this needs to be cleared becfore starting the process.
Colum A is blank, apart from cell A1 (the column heading) and another cell (variable row) with the value 'Paste here'. I've used this variable cell in other macros on the sheet as a marker, so need this to stay. I was going to use this code below, but I don't know how to tell it to select from the current active cell to the bottom of the spreadsheet.
Any macro or a VB script to fill the numbers in between the "start" and "end" range . The only input that will be provided is the start and end of the range.
For example if the start = 100 000 and end = 100 010.
I need help in simulating the functionality of the OFFSET function with some of standard Excel functions which are shown at this webpage (I will be using this converter to generate the webpage from the sheet):
Spreadsheet Converter Supported Functions
I ask this because I need to create an interactive online calculator which absolutely needs to have the ability to allow the user to select the RANGE of the data to be analyzed. I included an example sheet with the offset function in the pink cellDo you think any other standard excel function can be used to simulate its functionality?
I am looking to have the data ranges in tab 'Type' update automatically in 'Output' for a particular start date. So for example if I enter LBO into cell E3 in the 'Output' tab it will input the data range for LBO from tab 'Type' but from a specific start date.
I know I can achieve part of this via LookUp functions but it is the start date that has me stumped.
I need to find out the total movement in start times per week for the employees.
I have used MIN and MAX to find the earliest and latest start times, and then a subtraction to find the difference.
This works brilliantly until my employees who start around midnight.
If they have started before and after midnight, it takes midnight as the earliest time and 23:00 as the latest, giving a difference of 23 hours instead of 1 hour.
i.e.
Start Times 23:00, 23:15, 00:15, 00:30
Range of Movement 00:30 - 23:00 = 01:30
I've tried, =$B$9+($C$4>$B$9)-$C$4 but this does not work when the MIN reads 00:00.
