I have some VB code which sequentially opens over 200 workbooks to extract data from each and populate another workbook. These workbooks do have links to other workbooks in them.
For some reason when some of these workbooks are opened I get a requestor window asking whether I want to Update or Don't Update the data. I always want to Update the workbook and believe this can be done in VB by hiding the requestor?
I have a macro which auto prints a series of workbooks and it works very well - except (there is always an except right?) some of the workbooks brink up a dialog box saying "this workbook contains links to other data sources" Update, Don't Update or Help"
how to prevent this box from appearing and interrupting the print flow? I want to be able to run this macro and wallk away while it merrily does its printing job - not sit at the monitor hitting No No No over and over (yes i do NOT want to update the workbook)
Public Sub Auto_Open() Dim sCurFile As String Dim sPath As String Dim mpath As String
mpath = InputBox("Enter the month and year, i.e. 0207 for Feb 2007", "print")
fpath = InputBox("Enter day of the month to print (no leading 0's)?", "print")
I have been trying to remove or disable the message on update to other worksheet " To update all linked click yes......" I have try the following unsuccessfully
Sub auto_open() Application.AskToUpdateLinks = False End Sub
On the menu bar choose Edit ---> Links Can not choose manual, as the option is grey out (disable) I would prefer a vba solution, but I am open to anything to get rid of this message
I have two sheets. In the first sheet, I have cell F4 is 00:00:00 (countdown). G9, G10 and G11 are cells that receive data (decimal numbers) live. In the second sheet, I have three cells linked from shhet1 G9 ='Sheet1'!G9, G10 ='Sheet1'!G10, G11 ='Sheet1'!G11 (which update themselve when data is modified in the first sheet). Now I want to set in sheet 2, (assume) cells B9, B10 and B11 to show me (copy) the values from G9, G10 and G11 from sheet 1 when the countdown was 00:00:05 (5 seconds before Start) and not update again if the data changes in the cell it pulled the data from.
Like G9 ='Sheet1'!G9 at 00:00:05 and stop here, do not update anything. OK?
I can do a part, but the real problem is: I can not make it stop cells to update.Stand frozen, freeze, not move, calm .. however. I do not want to seem pretentious (but my knowledge in excel are limited), the most appropriate would be a formula, not macro or VBA, if possible..
I have this problem: I have a workbook with a formula liniking to another workbook. When I open the workbook, I click on "update links" and then I get this warning message:
"The workbook contains one or more (than one) links that cannot be updated. * To modify the origin of links, or to look up to update the values again, choose Modify links * To open the workbook as it is currently , choose To Continue"
I cannot understand where is the problem, the link is updated, state of link is "ok", I even can open the origin from Modifiy menu --> link --> open origin
I have tried using the following in the ThisWorkbook Module which does not seem to work because it appears the "Update Links" message fires before the Open Event
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Application.AskToUpdateLinks = False End Sub
I know it is possible to turn it off manually through Tools-Options but have 30 users and do not want them seeing the "Update Links" message if possible to turn it off.
Is it possible to display a dialog box or msgbox that doesnt have an OK button ?
i.e I want a message that comes up on the screen that says "Links Updating...Please Wait" which then automatically changes to "Links Sucessfully Updated" on completion...I dont want the macro to be interrupted by the msgbox/dialog....
When I open an excel file it asks if Id like to update the links to other data sources. I would like to say no everytime, does anyone know the VB to avoid the popup?
i have outlook message stored in my desktop. I want a macro to open that outlook message and update or change the subject name and boby of message. is it possible through macro.
i was wondering if there is a way to display a pop up message that a stating that the spreadsheet is currently updating.
What i have is a macro running on Auto_Open when workbook is opened. I have switch off the screen updating. What i want now is for maybe to have a pop up stating the spreadsheet is updating. Setting screen updating to false means that my excel freezes for a few seconds. I think users might be thinking that excel has crashed and therefore would like to include the message that the spreadsheet is updating its information.
Let's say that in column A I have numbers,"Yes" and "No". I want in column B to have only the numbers from column A, in the same order without any empty ranges, and everytime I add in column A a new number, column B to update automatically with that number. Let's have an example:
A B Yes 12 12 13 No 10 13 No 10 Yes
And if I want to add in column A: A B Yes 12 12 13 No 10 13 25 No 15 10 Yes 25 15
So the column be will update automatically. I already tried =IFERROR(INDEX($A$1:$A$10,SMALL(IF(ISNUMBER($A$1:$A$10),ROW($A$1:$A$10)),ROWS(B$1:B1))-ROW($A$1)+1),") but using this many times get's my file very heavy and the excel is working slow.
I have a vlookup to another workbook. It works fine if both workbooks are open. But if both are not open and I open the workbook with the links and click Update, #VALUE! returns. I have attached the two files. I don't think it is my formula, but here it is anyway. =IF( COUNTIF([Tempozgrid.xls]June!$A$52:$A$83,A3),VLOOKUP(A3,[Tempozgrid.xls]June!$A$52:$L$82,12,FALSE),0)
I have a basic formula =C17+'Asset Depreciation 2008 Onwards'!C24, and I want to copy it down just using the drag function. Problem is that the second reference range of cells are in rows and hence when I copy it down it doesn’t automatically update the cell references because it want to update them by column number instead of row number. IE I want it to display =C17+'Asset Depreciation 2008 Onwards'! D24, instead of C25. Do you know if there is any way of telling Excel that I want it to increase the column number by 1 every time, instead of the row number for this part of the formula?
I have one source spreadsheet, where are columns NAME, DATE. I read these data by ADO to other spreadsheet, where I can change/delete data and then run macro for update data in source spreadsheet. The problem: In source spreadsheet is column "NAME" and column "DATE", with values e.g. "Joseph"; 1.1.1980. I read this data to other spreadsheet, then I delete in it value 1.1.1980. When I run macro Update, it messages error.
Sub UpdateItem ... .Fields.Item(1).value = activecell 'activecell value = "Joseph" If Not isempty(activecell.offset(0,1)) Then .Fields.Item(2).value = activecell.offset(0,1).value Else .Fields.Item(2).value = "" 'I tried Empty and 0 too but when I read data again then, it displays 0.1.1900, nothing works End If ... End Sub
It seems that in source spreadsheet has data in column "Date" format Date and when I try to update data in format String ("") in source spreadsheet by Update macro, it messages error. When I used
.Fields.Item(2).Value = Empty ' or .Fields.Item(2).Value = 0
after rereading data it displays 0.1.1900 What I want to get is that if the cell with date (in other spreadsheet) is empty, the cell in column Date in source spreadsheet after updating will be blank (contains no values).
I have a program with a line that deletes a worksheet like so: Sheets(Output).Delete. Where "Output" is the name of the sheet (a string). This works fine, but everytime this line is excecuted excel pops up a message box "Data may exist is the sheet(s) selected for deletion. To permanently delete the data, press Delete." and I have to click delete. Is there anyway to stop this message being displayed?
I have the below code to iterate and copy/paste data.
Code: Application.DisplayAlerts = False Dim r As Range Set r = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("POList").Range("A2:A150")
[Code]...
This works fine, but I always get a message saying:
"Data on the Clipboard is not the same size and shape as the selected area. Do you want to paste the data anyway?"
The method completes when I click OK, but I am having to do this hundreds of time as there are a lot of files to be created. Is there a way to stop this message?
I have a macro here that turns exported text into delimited text, but it keeps prompting the user "Do you want to replace the cells"...can I somehow automatically bypass this prompt and always say yes?
I've just written a macro to copy large amount of data from one worksheet into another. It works well right now, except a little problem. Every time I run the macro, there is always a message box appeared. It let me to choose whether to save or delete data on the clipboard. And I usually choose 'no'. (The message box has been screenshotted and attached into this thread.) Because I use this macro very often, it really makes troubles to me. Is there anyway to block the message box. I mean let it never appear?
I am using this code to make a new folder however if the folder already exists it gives me an Error 75.
Code: Private Sub CreateFullFolder_Click() 'FIlE address needs to be changed ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Details").Activate MkDir ("C:UsersDennisDesktopPartnering Contractors LTD" & Range("B12").Value) End Sub
I have some code to open up another workbook, take the data from sheet1 in it, copy it to a sheet in the first book, and then close the opened workbook. My problem is that whenever it closes the workbook it gives me the large amount of data on clipboard window that I must then click 'No' on before it will proceed. I thought that making CutCopyMode = False would fix that, but it hasnt worked. Heres the bit of code that does this:
I have a UDF that looks up data in another worksheet (called "Capital Costs") to create data for the worksheet in which I enter it. This is the first UDF I have ever written, so I must be doing something wrong. It works just fine--once.
But if I go into the "Capital Costs" worksheet and change the data there, it does not automatically update the cell in the other worksheet with my UDF. I have to erase my UDF and reenter it for it to grab the new data in "Capital Costs". (I have tried hitting F9, and that doesn't update the UDF.)
My UDF is "=Capex(year)". So let's say my year 1 Capex was $50,000. The UDF calculates that and populates the cell correctly. But if I go into the "Capital Costs" worksheet and change the year 1 Capex to $60,000, the UDF (which is on a different worksheet) doesn't automatically update. I would like it to automatically update, just the same way it would if it were a built-in function like AVERAGE or SUMPRODUCT or STDEV.
I have a large database, data as rows with individuals each carrying a unique ID code (RING). The database spans over 60 years - individuals are birds with metal rings carrying a unique ID - so some individuals have had their rings replaced (e.g. row 7 in the sample below). My task is take the old ring (C7) and replace any earlier records of the old ring (A3) with the new ring (A7).
I have joined some cells using '&' which is formed a formula. But till I am not pressing f2 button on that cell and then pressing enter key, the formula is not working.
I am attaching test sheet here, If you press F2 Button in cell H2, then press Enter key they only it will show the value of A1.
In Excel, I have created a userform where a user inputs parameters into various textboxes. A simulation runs based on these user entered values. All the VB code is in this form. There are some textboxes and charts that are supposed to get updated as the simulation runs so that the user can view the parameters change as the simulation happens (it is a "do loop").
Everything is fine except the charts and textboxes don't display the most current value. They display the starting value during the "do loop " execution. Once the do loop quits, they then display the final values and chart.
I have me.repaint and chart.refresh inside the do loop to display the most recent values. none work, as far displaying the most current values.
Is there a way to update without user input? I get the following message: This workbook contains links to other data sources.
*If you update the links, Excel will attempt to retrieve the latest data. * If you don't update the links, Excel will use the previous information.
Note that data links can be used to access and share confidential information without your permission and possibly perform other harmful actions. Do not update the links if you do not trust the source of this workbook.
I have a combo box, when I make a selection in the combobox it filters the selection in the listbox but I want it to list Column B & C data - it only lists column B data. I did make the column count 2.
