Show (copy) Data At X Time And Stop Update?

Sep 2, 2012

I have two sheets. In the first sheet, I have cell F4 is 00:00:00 (countdown). G9, G10 and G11 are cells that receive data (decimal numbers) live. In the second sheet, I have three cells linked from shhet1 G9 ='Sheet1'!G9, G10 ='Sheet1'!G10, G11 ='Sheet1'!G11 (which update themselve when data is modified in the first sheet). Now I want to set in sheet 2, (assume) cells B9, B10 and B11 to show me (copy) the values from G9, G10 and G11 from sheet 1 when the countdown was 00:00:05 (5 seconds before Start) and not update again if the data changes in the cell it pulled the data from.

Like G9 ='Sheet1'!G9 at 00:00:05 and stop here, do not update anything. OK?

I can do a part, but the real problem is: I can not make it stop cells to update.Stand frozen, freeze, not move, calm .. however. I do not want to seem pretentious (but my knowledge in excel are limited), the most appropriate would be a formula, not macro or VBA, if possible..

Stop Update / Don't Update Requestor Message

Oct 27, 2008

I have some VB code which sequentially opens over 200 workbooks to extract data from each and populate another workbook. These workbooks do have links to other workbooks in them.
For some reason when some of these workbooks are opened I get a requestor window asking whether I want to Update or Don't Update the data. I always want to Update the workbook and believe this can be done in VB by hiding the requestor?

Stop Update Message When Printing From Macro

Feb 4, 2007

I have a macro which auto prints a series of workbooks and it works very well - except (there is always an except right?) some of the workbooks brink up a dialog box saying "this workbook contains links to other data sources" Update, Don't Update or Help"

how to prevent this box from appearing and interrupting the print flow? I want to be able to run this macro and wallk away while it merrily does its printing job - not sit at the monitor hitting No No No over and over (yes i do NOT want to update the workbook)

Public Sub Auto_Open()
Dim sCurFile As String
Dim sPath As String
Dim mpath As String

mpath = InputBox("Enter the month and year, i.e. 0207 for Feb 2007", "print")

fpath = InputBox("Enter day of the month to print (no leading 0's)?", "print")

Show The Time Difference Between Two Data Entries

Dec 4, 2009

I have data entry in a spreadsheet which shows minutes, seconds and thousandths of a second - example looks as follows:
12:48:589 or 04:21:998. I would like to be able show the time difference between two data entries, so for example:

09:57:145 and 08:12:055 would give a difference of 1:45:090
12:07:985 and 18:59:788 would give a difference of 6:51:803

To be honest, I even struggled to work out the values on paper. Is this even possible? If so, can you let me know the number format I should be using as well as the formula or even better, post an excel sheet with the example.

Automate Macro Start On Time & Stop At Later Time

Dec 25, 2007

Can I adapt this code so that users receive the alert if they try and go to the next field without filling in the required ones, or - better - to combine it with a code that does not run a macro, but instead gives the alert, if the required fields have been missed. (I don't require anything to do with printing, this was the closest code I could find)

Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
If Sheet1. Range("A1").Value = "" Then
MsgBox "Cannot print until required cells have been completed!"
Cancel = True
End If
End Sub

Update Data By Ado - Change/delete Data And Then Run Macro For Update Data In Source Spreadsheet

Dec 6, 2006

I have one source spreadsheet, where are columns NAME, DATE. I read these data by ADO to other spreadsheet, where I can change/delete data and then run macro for update data in source spreadsheet. The problem: In source spreadsheet is column "NAME" and column "DATE", with values e.g. "Joseph"; 1.1.1980. I read this data to other spreadsheet, then I delete in it value 1.1.1980. When I run macro Update, it messages error.

Sub UpdateItem
...
.Fields.Item(1).value = activecell 'activecell value = "Joseph"
If Not isempty(activecell.offset(0,1)) Then
.Fields.Item(2).value = activecell.offset(0,1).value
Else
.Fields.Item(2).value = "" 'I tried Empty and 0 too but when I read data again then, it displays 0.1.1900, nothing works
End If
...
End Sub

It seems that in source spreadsheet has data in column "Date" format Date and when I try to update data in format String ("") in source spreadsheet by Update macro, it messages error. When I used

.Fields.Item(2).Value = Empty
' or
.Fields.Item(2).Value = 0

after rereading data it displays 0.1.1900 What I want to get is that if the cell with date (in other spreadsheet) is empty, the cell in column Date in source spreadsheet after updating will be blank (contains no values).

Autofill; Copy Down It Doesn’t Automatically Update The Cell References Because It Want To Update Them By Column Number Instead Of Row Number

Can't Stop Macro Running At Set Time

Apr 28, 2006

I wanted to run a macro at 08:00 each day. I tested the macro would auto start and run, and set the test to start at 13:00.

In the Private module of the Workbook I put

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Application .OnTime TimeValue("08:00:00"), "MyMacro"
End Sub

and in a standard module

Sub TestTimeMacro()
Application.OnTime TimeValue("08:00:00"), "MyMacro"
End Sub

Initially I had the TimeValue set as 13:00:00. The test worked OK so I changed the timevalue to 08:00:00.

The macro now runs at 08:00 and 13:00.

How do I stop the 13:00 event?

How can I fix this to highlight all the blank cells at once, with only one pop-up message, and prevent the email from going out?

Calculate Start / Stop Time And Also Include Date

Mar 13, 2014

I have a small project at work where I am being asked to put a simple spread sheet that will calculate a start/stop time - and also include the date. For example:

Start time 5pm, date: 3/13. The spread sheet to auto calculate what the stop time and date will be if a specific amount of hours is to be calculated. For example in this case, 12 hours. From calculating in my head that would be 5am the following day. However, how can I get this in excel to work and therefore all i would have to do is enter the start time and date, + 12 hrs, and excel would calculate the time/date after the additional 12 hrs.

Also I need to know if i can get it to run asynchronous is there an event that will tell me when the process is finished. The calling application of the macro is written in VB6 and opening excel workbooks to run the macros out of. also the "timeout" feature must be done from the VB6 application it cannot be edited into the the workbooks containing the macro.

If the user starts the work, and goes on a lunch break say for 20 min, comes back finishes the task and captures end time, the time difference will not consider break time which is non productive.

How can I incorporate something like 'pause' option so that before he goes for lunch he can temporarily pause the time.

Scheduled Time Update Macro

Sep 18, 2008

I have the following macro:

Sub ScheduleUpdate()
WaitHours = 0
WaitMin = 15
WaitSec = 0
NextTime = Now + TimeSerial(WaitHours, WaitMin, WaitSec)
Application.OnTime EarliestTime:=NextTime, Procedure:=LinkUpdates()
Application.Run
End Sub

Sub LinkUpdates()
Sheets("PRICING SHEET").Select
Sheets("PRICING SHEET").UpdateLink Name:="P:CommonPRICINGCOMPILATION.xls", Type:=
xlExcelLinks
End Sub
The code does not work at all, just the skeleton to have an idea. I also need help recreating an entirely new macro which preferably works well!
The idea is that everyday at 8:00AM this macro starts automatically updating the links every 15 mins (SHOULD NOT MATTER IF THE SHEET IS OPEN OR NOT). But here is the catch.
This code should be the code for a checkbox. So when the box is checked, or TRUE, the macro should run normally updating every 15 mins. But when the box is unchecked, the macro should stop (no update occurring).
I want this macro because this sheet is linked to several other sheets and it needs constant updating. However, if I need to make a change in the main sheet, no updates should be happening.
