Excel 2003 :: Conditional Format - Highlight Cell In Sheet 2 If Duplicated From Sheet 1

Mar 25, 2014

I have two Sheets, first is Service Data, the second is Log Sheet. In the Service Data sheet I have a column of serial numbers in column A. I also have a column of serial numbers in the Log Sheet, column A.

I'm looking for a conditional format whereas I enter numbers into column A on the Log sheet it will auto highlight the cell if I duplicate a serial number from row A in the Service Data sheet. I would like it to highlight the Duplicated number on the Log sheet. I know new versions of excel make it easier to do this but unfortunately I have Excel 2003.

Save Excel Sheet In PDF Format With The Name Of Workbook

I have the below macro steps to save an excel sheet in PDF format in "C:UsersxxxxxDesktop" and with the name of the workbook.

But when the PDF report gets published in c: drive , the PDF file name has .xlsm added to it instead of just the file name.
I would like to know how to publish the file in PDF format just in the name of the workbook.

Find the below macro steps:

Generating Text File In Certain Format And CSV From Excel Worksheet Using VBA

Mar 4, 2014

The attached file "Temp.xlsm" has been provided to me. I need to generate two files from it - 1) csv 2) a text file in a certain format. It should basically look liked the attached file "InFile.txt" which is an input file for a modelling tool. The arrays and struct strings need to be within brackets and it only contains inputs. Outputs don't need to be generated.

With the code in "Temp.xlsm" so far I have been able to generate attached file "Temp.txt". The only missing bit is the formatting of arrays and structures.

Basically for row7 in "temp.xls" , if it is

Xls - In
Struct_Start - (
Array_Start - (
Array_and_Struct_Start - ((
Struct_End - )
Array_End - )
Array_and_Struct_End - ))

and members within these need to be separated by commas.

Format Text File For Excel To Import Into Access

Jan 12, 2010

I have a large text file that is generated daily and want to import into MS Access as the end result.

First I need to reformat into the row format in excel rather than the format it is in. The issue is not all the segments are the same number of lines or they may have mutli message lines. The names with colon : after them I want to be field names in the table which I wish the text file to import into. Please, I am looking for assistance with this.

I have attached sample data of the text dump, and the name of the file is as you see but different date on the end. At the very end of the text file you will see the desired output which I will then import into Access

Also every new message begins with the dotted line and the date and time at the end.

Excel 2007 :: Conversion Of Text Into Date Format

Dec 24, 2012

I have a question about conversion of a text format into date format.

2 computers, the first windows vista, the second Windows 8, both Excel 2007.

The purpose is to calculate the difference between 2 dates with hour:minutes:seconds, like for example:
18/12/2012 19:20:00 and 18/12/2012 19:23:03.

So in this example the result should be 00:03:03.

Both dates are formatted with 'personalized' : dd/mm/yyyy hh/mm.

In the first computer everything works like it should, but in the second it is apparently impossible to transform the first of those date h:m:s which is originally in a text format into a date format. I tried all the methods which i found to transform a text date format into a date , like multiplication with 1, Datevalue and others, but nothing seems to work, the result is always "#Value".

Excel Changing Format From General To Text During Macro Execution?

Jul 25, 2013

I have a procedure that allows me to view and make changes to data in a table. I list the current values for the item in one column and use simple formula to copy that value to another column where if there are changes that need to be made, the formula is simply overwritten. The Macro is then selected using a command button and the formulas are all overwritten using copy/paste values to keep from writing out the formula to the data table. These values are then all written back to the data table, current values are overwritten with whatever is in the update column, new data or old data.

I have one cell out of 48 that has decided to march to the tune of a different drummer. The format changes from General to Text and the formula written from the macro is what shows up in the cell instead of the value of the formula. Never a big disciplinarian, I have to wonder if I have been too lenient on the cell and this defiance is the price I have to pay.

The sheet is protected only allowing entry into the cells available for update.

Here is the bit of code that affects this cell (starting from a format of General:

Code:
Sheets("Product Data").Cells(ItemRow, 3).Value = Sheets("Update").Cells(6, 8)
Sheets("Update").Cells(6, 8).FormulaR1C1 = "=(RC[-6])"

I just don't see anything that would change the format, and these are the only two lines that even reference cells(6,8).

I tried to set the format for the cell from within the Macro, but with the sheet being protected, it just dumps me out to my error message.

Excel 2007 :: Find And Format Text Within Chart Textbox Object?

Nov 15, 2012

I have a text box within a chart tab which is populated with text values from a worksheet within the workbook. That part works fine however i want to be able to achieve the following example:

Current Text: Component Name - Notes

if there are notes against the component name i want the name to remain in black and the notes to change to blue

Aim: Component Name - Notes

If there arn't any notes then for the component name and the "-" to change to a light shade of grey

Aim: Component Name -

There are 26 components, each on their own lines in the textbox so im thinking either a loop where the cell reference is variable eg. ("CY" & i) or using the .find with a variable.

My code so far is:

Code:
Sub Chart_Notes_NTCA()
Dim i As Long, j As Long, Counted As Long, Total As Long
Dim Ans As String, Notes As String
Dim Cht As Chart

Excel 2003 :: Array Dates Transposed Results In Text And Wrong Format?

Sep 17, 2008

I have a VBA subroutine that builds a list of dates in an array and then copies this to the worksheet using worksheetfunction.transpose. The array is two dimensional and therefore uses the variant data type.

This works fine in Excel 2002. In Excel 2003 the array is fine until the Transpose function is used, at this point they are changed from dd/mm/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy. This means that some dates are changed (eg: 01/Mar/2008 becomes 03/Jan/2008) and some are written as strings (eg: 17/Mar/2008 becomes the string "17/03/2008" and cannot be operated on as a date).

I'm aware that there was a hotfix to deal with a similar issue regarding recalculation but this is on Excel 2003 SP3 which should already have that hotfix in place.

I have reduced my code down to a basic demonstration showing the problem. This assumes the worksheet contains some dates in "A2:A32". I have also attached the workbook containing this code.

VB:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim a() As Variant, c As Integer
Redim a(1 To 31)
For c = 1 To 31
a(c) = Cells(1 + c, 1)
Next c
Range("D2:D32") = WorksheetFunction.Transpose(a)
End Sub

I have fixed this problem by looping through each element of the array and writing them individually in to cells but this is far slower so I'd like to know if there is a better solution than that.

Import Text Files To A Sheet In Existing Excel File

Jul 25, 2014

I have a folder with multiple text files. I want to import one of these files to a sheet called data in an existing Excel file. The excel file has references to this data sheet on other sheets which I want to keep. I want to save this excel file with the name the text file has and repeat this for all the text files in the folder.

I found a macro a while back which does the job nicely of importing and saving the Excel file, however all the data in the other sheets gets lost once it is saved. How to keep the data?

Code:

Sub tgr()
Const txtFldrPath As String = "FOLDER WITH TEXT FILES" 'Change to folder path containing text files
Const xlsFldrPath As String = "FOLDER FOR EXCEL FILES" 'Change to folder path excel files will be saved to
Dim CurrentFile As String: CurrentFile = Dir(txtFldrPath & "" & "*.txt")
Dim strLine() As String
Dim LineIndex As Long

Save Number As Text In Txt Format Wo Changing The Format

Mar 1, 2007

In order to export an excel table into another program I first need to save the excel file as .txt. The .txt file can then be imported by the other program.

First I however need to make excel understand that the value should be a text and not a value. I therefore format the number as text (0000150235) by adding "0000150235". After saving the file as .txt the format changes from "0000150235" to """0000150235""". I do however need the format in the .txt file to be "0000150235". Can anyone tell me how I can save "0000150235" as .txt and get the value "0000150235" in the .txt file.

Convert A Date Format To A Text Format

In D3 I have manually input: (space)3-08

As you can see the CONCATENATE puts the "39569" date in A2 But the second line puts the text date as I prefer. What I would like to do is put in a formula or macro in D2 and down that will change the "Mar-08" to "3-08" so it CONCATENATEs correctly to column A. Simply: I'm trying to avoid manually inputing the text version "3-08" (or whatever M-Y) into D2 down a hundred or so rows!

VBA: Format Amts Into Text $ 9.99 Type Format

Feb 13, 2008

Need to create a set of aligned text amts from various cells...Tried Format but unable to get right combination...I've looked at many threads and most seem related to getting amt from text instead of reverse.

Cell may contain nothing or a monetary amt, negative or positive. Output needs to be in format of "$9,999.99-" or similar...with leading zeros suppressed but a min of "$ 0.00" showing, so that above/below amts with be decimal point aligned in a fixed font situation.

I've almost gotten my routine finsihed but this is last remaining obstacle.
