Keep Track & Record Linked Formula Cells
Mar 9, 2008I currently have numerous workbooks with linked cells to a master workbook, but the linked cells dont appear to carry over or retain the formating from the master workbook (e.g. font style, bold, underlined, font color, cell color). I make changes quite often to the master workbook and would like the changes carried over to the other workbooks. Does anyone have a script where it would automatically carry over the font formatting? I hope this is understandable.

Track/Report User Changes on an Excel Worksheet/Workbook
in the this Workbook. It involves two different VBA solutions I had gotten form Ozgrid. The top part is VBA code to track changes in the workbook, THe instructions are to put the statement at the top of the module which I did. When it gets to the second VBA code {Starting with Option Explicit} below, I get an error message that "Only comments may appear after End Sub, End Function or End Property.
Also, I would like to get the VBA course offered on this website, any comments?

Track & Record Dates, Past And Actual
Mar 8, 2008I am creating a tracker to record, incoming, latest date of reply needed and actual date of reply. So I have column A= received, Column B = need to reply by, Column C = replied on. What I want in A is today’s date which is easy enough with ctrl+; is there a way of having it set that as soon as the cell is clicked on that date is activated and until then it remains empty?
What I have in B is A# + 20 this adds 20 days to the date entered in column A, again is there any way to have it set that this automatically activates when cells in column A are active and not until then, as if I enter that code in the cell and nothing is showing in cell A it gives a date of the 20/01/2008.
In C I have tried a couple of codes and they have not worked so what I would like is a code that when A and B are active it generates a countdown for days left to reply and if this countdown reaches zero then the whole line is flagged up in red as late. Lastly, is there a code that I can use that will automatically correspond with the A, B or C columns and match them with the same number cell in the other columns, sorry this isn’t so easy to explain but what I have to do at the moment is type in B is =A1+20 , A2+20, A3+20 and so on rather than just typing in A……+20 for column B to know it needs to associate itself with the same number cell in column A regardless what number it is.
VLOOKUP Formula Dragdown Copies Previous Cell Result Instead Of Unique Result
Jun 10, 2014When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.
Copy Formula Result & Paste Value/Result Only
Sep 3, 2006I created a simple auto numbering function whereby Cell A7 contained =Row()-6, and Cell A8 contained =(A7+1). I then shift, and pasted the contents of cell A8 until cell A600. My aim is to simply copy the increments of 1 - 600 into another column. However when i copy and paste i'm also copying the initial underlying formula ie: =( A?+1), Is there a way to copy the results, not the formula?

In other words, I have the number 500 in A1, and I want to delete it, but I don't know whether it will impact a calculation on another sheet that involves that value in A1.

Question #2: What record ID schemes are fequently employed besides date/time? I have decided to create an Excel address book as an exercise to increase my knowledge of VBA, and also as a useful application for work.
I realize that a record ID is not essential in Excel in the way that it is essential in Access, but I feel the need to have some unique ID associated with each address, so that I may have different worksheets, with data related to a given Contact, sort and manipulate it, if necessary, but have the record ID as a way to restore the relationship of rows to a given Contact, and also, as a handy way to examine the data in the date/time sequence in which it was entered. I have experimented with the following code, to assure myself that I can access the number returned by the NOW() function, manipulate it as a string, and format in various ways if necessary.

Flag Record That Has Overlapping Date As Another Record?
Mar 16, 2014I am creating an asset management sheet. For the formula I am trying to work out there uses 3 fields : ID, start date, and end date.
What I want to do is be able to show if the ID is duplicated within another record with an overlapping date. So an item is flagged if it is in the list within the same dates as another record. I tried a few countif formulas but with no success.. I may just be approaching the problem incorrectly though.

Unable To Record Error, Long Formula Macro
Nov 25, 2008I am working on using an excel workbook as part of a roll playing game and I am trying to record a macro and then put that in a command button which uses the randbetween, multiple if statements and multiple vlookup functions. I have successfully done similar things by just recording a macro and then pasting that into the VB editor. However this time I get a unable to record macro after putting the formula in the selected cell. I have tried copy and paste and just typing the formula with the same results.
Upon executing the formula I then want it to copy and paste special- values the result.
I'm assuming I have to put the VB code in manually but when I tried to do the formula I got a syntax error.
The worksheet I am working on is named new and I've included the formula in the a text box. I would like the result to show in J12 and be triggered by pressing the cmnbutton in k12.
Formula Columns Where My Workers Record The Amounts Of Work They Do During The Day
Oct 22, 2008I have three columns where my workers record the amounts of work they do during the day. The columns are labelled as follows:
Column A – “Correspondences’’
Column B – “Linking’’
Column C – “Allocating”
When a task has been completed an “X’’ is put in the relevant column (which is then summed at the bottom). I use these sums to calculate each workers productivity in the following way – number of “x’’ divided by number of days worked. This is a simple formula, however, each “x” now equates to time – which is causing me problems. An “x’’ is Column A equals 1 hour, Column B 1 hour and Column C 2 hours.
I am looking for someone to help me create a formula which will calculate all possibilities in the above situation above. Please bear in mind that a worker can do one of these tasks during the course of a week, two or all three .

1. Summary sheet called "Variations" contains columns that will contain the information needed for new sheet (Columns A to D)
2. When data is entered on "Variations" sheet: Column B, then macro automatically creates new sheet renamed to e.g. VO1 (Number used on "Variations" tab) and is a copy of "Master" tab.
3. Data entered in Column A to D on "Variations" tab is automatically entered onto new sheet created (e.g VO1). Shown is blue on attached file. Additional data is updated on "VO1" sheet and this then links back to "Variations" tab
Macro To Print Record # To Record#
Mar 20, 2009I'm trying to find a macro that will run allowing the user to select a 'starting record number' and a 'finishing record number' when printing.
I have a spreadsheet that feeds from a master list in excel, from over 5000 records.
I need to print the s'sheet with any given indivdual record's information at any given time.
Individual prints are fine. However if I wanted to print from record number 1500 to record number 3000 it would take me all day.
Is there a way I can set up a macro so an option form pops up? allowing selection of "From record" and "to Record" ?

Getting Error "Unable To Record" When Record A Macro
Sep 1, 2009This problem seemed to revolve around "digital signing" with further macro changes done from a different machine (without the proper certificate). Excel warns of the problem and then "unsigns" the project.
I've got a problem with spreadsheets that I've been working on. Now, when I tell it to record a macro, I get the macro name, shortcut assignment dialog box and then an error "Unable to record." After "Ok"ing that dialog box, the normal recording macro dialog comes up. Also, lo and behold, there will not be a macro recorded.
I've got no protected cells or sheets and it doesn't matter what security level is set. It is a "signed" macro but I can take off the signature and still have the problem. I checked for "Help - About" for deactivated modules and there was none.
Display Formula Not Formula Result?
May 2, 2012I have a s/s which is built on IF functions and references other sheets and I have used the s/s in the past without issue. However now I want to ammend the formula a little and excel will only display the formula itself, not the result of the formula. I have tried CTRL ~ to turn on/off the show formula function but this makes no difference.
My reason for changeing the current formula is that I need to turn a 2 (numeric) to 02 (which can be either numeric or text). This is the new formula.

Is there an issue with the formula or some setting in excel?
Formula - Different Apparent Result
Jun 22, 2007I have a workbook consisting of 4 worksheets. Cell B5 in each of three of these sheets has the exact same formula (copy/pasted) referring to data in the other worksheet. In one of the three similar sheets cell B5 shows up as a blank. In the other two, this cell shows up as a zero.
Since the formula in each of these cells is identical, I figured the difference in the way the result showed up was a matter of cell formatting.
The cell format for each of the three is indicated as ‘general’. However, with one of these, the ‘sample’ shown when you view the cell format shows as a blank while the other two show the ‘sample’ as a zero (0). How can I go about making all three cells appear the same, namely a blank?
Getting The Total From The Result Of The Formula
Aug 1, 2009I have already an existing formula to get only the amount from the previous cell. From a6 to a30 it contains the word "11/05/09 press release $100", so in b6-b30 this is the formula. =IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("press",A6)),RIGHT(A6,LEN(A6)-FIND("$",A6)),"") until b30
the problem is in b6:b30 the 100's were not a number you have to copy and paste to other cells using paste special then values then click the smart tag and convert as a number to get all the total from b6 until b30.
IF Formula And If The Result Is True
Aug 13, 2009Is it possible to use the IF formula and if the result is true, to run another formula and if the result is false put a "0" in the cell???
Here is an example...
In cell A1, I have an amount of money.
In cell B1, I have a quantity.
In cell C1, I want to use the following IF formula:
=IF(B1>0;((A1)*(B1)*0.15);0)
At the present time, when I do this, when the result is true, I see ((A1)*(B1)*0.15) in the cell instead of what that formula should give.
'greater Than >' Formula & Result
Aug 14, 2009Column B is basically 550 points + column C = Base Roll.
We need to introduce a cap so no more than 1000 points can be displayed/earned. So column G adds all points & column F caps.
So far it's all ok.
Now when i add a value to column E (points spent) those points are deducted from column G instead of the capped 1000.
Entering a value of 500 displays 800 in column F instead of 500.
Copying Result Of Formula
Sep 10, 2009I have a formula that returns a string using the concatenate function. Now I want to copy the string to another cell without copying the formula. The string will become a record in a CSV file. I cannot figure out how to make what shows on the screen a label cell instead of a formula cell.

Now, I need to be able to enter a number into Cell A3 and upon hitting Enter (or clicking elsewhere), the number I just entered into Cell A3 needs to be replaced with the number I just entered multiplied by the number in Cell A1. For Example: Cell A1 contains the number 1.05. I type 2.50 into Cell A3 and upon hitting Enter Cell A3 reads 2.625.
