I am receiving a run-time error with following code. The error message is "unable to get the VLookup property of the WorksheetFunction class". I only receive the message when the lookup value is not found in the table.
I thought adding the "False" command at the end would return an "N/A" but it didn't. Is there anything I can add to avoid this error?
I am trying to look at column at of two different workBOOKS and then when a match is found take the value from column D in workbook two and copy it to the corresponding row in the current column of workbook one.
this is the code I'm using and I get that unable to get the vlookup function. I thought maybe it was because not all of them will have matches so it could return an error if it is trying to return empty, so I put int on error resume next, and it ran through but never brought over ANY data, and there ARE matches and data to be brought over.
destRng is the range in the current column(that i just inserted) on the active worksheet that we will be putting the new info into. srcRng is the range in column A on the other workbook that the numbers are being compared to. src is just an integer
I have a UserForm with one ComboBox and one TextBox. The ComboBox is populated from another sheet with product codes in Col A and names in Col B. When the user selects a product code from the ComboBox the respective name appears in the adjacent TextBox. Once both boxes have been filled the user can then save the data to a third sheet. Now the problem arises when the user tries to manually enter a code into the ComboBox that does not appear in its rowsource - VBA states a run-time error and my new keyboard goes flying out the window again. Attached is an example sheet
I have a macro which refreshes a query when the spreadsheet is opened. This works fine when online.
However, if the user is not online, the query is unable to refresh and the macro just hangs.
Is there a code which will enable me to say " if unable to refresh then move on to the next line"?
here's the code below.
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Sheets("Houselist").Activate Selection.QueryTable.Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False Sheets("Front").Select Range("A1").Select End Sub
Currently I am working on a Userform based Macro that reads date and time from user and compares it with the date and time present in a cell in excel sheet(in mm/dd/yy hh:mm format). If the date and time value entered in both places matches then it will fill green colour in the cell.
I tried to convert the date present in excel sheet into a string using Cstr but it is not working. I have attached the code below for your reference.
Dim lr As Long, i As Long lr = Sheet5.Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row For i = 1 To lr If Cells(i, "D") = "FIT" Then If Left(Sheet5.Cells(i, 14), 1) = "M" Then
I created a macro in VBA that pops up a calendar with keyboard short cut and places the date in selected cell. It works great on my pc. I can't share the macro with anyone. I saved it as an add-in...installing the add-in did nothing. Then I saved it as a template...the template did not open with any macros associated. both cases, no errors. no message to enable to disable macro.
I need the macro I created to run (when assigned to a button) in specific sheets in the workbook, additionally if the workbook is saved under a different name by the user, the macro will continue to work. There are 10 sheets. I need it to run in sheets 6-10, when the button is clicked in sheet 5. Then end goal in mind is to assign this macro to a button, so the user ,when ready ,can click the button to produce the results.
Background & Current Results : My macro is simply an advance auto filter that copies the filtered data from sheet 3 to sheets 6-10 (non-unique values). When applied per sheet , it works . When I modify the macro (I've tried several ways based on info published here) , the best result i can get is the data copies 6 times in the same page ( whatever active sheet is selected.). I have not assigned the modified macro to any buttons, why bother if I can't get it to run in the 1st place .
I suspect I need to redo the whole thing to have it simply copy the filtered data repeatedly to sheets 6-10 , but I am not that savvy to figure that out .
My Current Macro that Works Per Sheet Sub tcktoriginal() ' ' tcktorginal Macro ' macro to run tickets ' Range("F4").Select Range("cpt.code.table.").AdvancedFilter Action:=xlFilterCopy, CriteriaRange _ :=Range("A1:S3"), CopyToRange:=Range("A11:S11"), Unique:=False Range("F5").Select End Sub
Examples That I have Tried and Didn’t Work ........................
I am working on using an excel workbook as part of a roll playing game and I am trying to record a macro and then put that in a command button which uses the randbetween, multiple if statements and multiple vlookup functions. I have successfully done similar things by just recording a macro and then pasting that into the VB editor. However this time I get a unable to record macro after putting the formula in the selected cell. I have tried copy and paste and just typing the formula with the same results.
Upon executing the formula I then want it to copy and paste special- values the result.
I'm assuming I have to put the VB code in manually but when I tried to do the formula I got a syntax error.
The worksheet I am working on is named new and I've included the formula in the a text box. I would like the result to show in J12 and be triggered by pressing the cmnbutton in k12.
I am putting together multiple worksheets with dumped data that should sort themselves by the press of a button. Each entry has a 'code' and a value and they are sorted by the 'code'.
At the moment i have the first worksheet sorting correctly and i am trying to program the second worksheet to sort data into the existing worksheets if they exist or create a new worksheet if the data doesn't have it's own worksheet.
I have an error message that says: Run time error '1004': Unable to set the colorIndex property of the interior class. I attached code for your reference.
If (Range("B10").Value = "Gift" Or Range("B10").Value = "Entertainment") And Range("C10").Value = "" Then Range("C10").Interior.ColorIndex = 6 MsgBox "Please Fill in the Person's Name & Company." Range("C10").Select Range("C10").Interior.ColorIndex = 6 End If
I had a spreadsheet developed for me at work but the lad who developed it for me has subsequently left and I'll be honest I would not have any idea of macro's or some executables in excel. The only problem I'm having with this is it is not flagging item's as late unless they have gone over 2 months past the target date (would be ideally looking for 1 day past target date for it to flag late). Could anyone just have a quick look at this, I'm sure that this could be a quick fix but I would not have the relevant expertise for this. If someone can rectify the problem could you also just give me a quick explaination as to how this was done as I would like to have an idea myself and not have to continue to bug people with simple problems like this.
This problem seemed to revolve around "digital signing" with further macro changes done from a different machine (without the proper certificate). Excel warns of the problem and then "unsigns" the project.
I've got a problem with spreadsheets that I've been working on. Now, when I tell it to record a macro, I get the macro name, shortcut assignment dialog box and then an error "Unable to record." After "Ok"ing that dialog box, the normal recording macro dialog comes up. Also, lo and behold, there will not be a macro recorded.
I've got no protected cells or sheets and it doesn't matter what security level is set. It is a "signed" macro but I can take off the signature and still have the problem. I checked for "Help - About" for deactivated modules and there was none.
I write a vb-code that searches through a specific range in my sheet for specific three letter combinations and multiplies the value in the cell directly to the left of the cell in which it finds the three letter combination by the cell address specified by me? In other words, let say it finds the letters ABC in A2, B5 and D9. In cells A1, B4 and D8 I have entered som code that retrieves information from the other program. I would like the macro to leave this code untouched, but add to it "*N1" (N1 being the cell where I have stored the value that ABC corresponds to).
I would also like to specify the range in which it searches so that it doesnt add this multiplication anywhere where it is not supposed to.
I have a straightforward VLOOKUP function which works fine until I put it into a macro. It then fails with an Error 1004 runtime message. The function looks at the contents of one cell, matches it against a particular cell in a separate worksheet and adjusts an adjacent cell accordingly.
I would like to use vlookup in a macro. I have a simple form in excel that looks up information in a database. I wrote a simple macro that copies that copies the information into another tab dropping down each time and then refilling the formulas to pull data back from the database.
I need to be able to have my macro lookup into the database and overwrite the original row based on the name.
How do I write a vlookup into a macro?
""Sheets("Fill Db").Select Range("b2:bf2").Select Selection.Copy Here is where I would like it to lookup (vlookup) based on the name in b2 from the sheet above find it in the sheet below and then copy value the line. Sheets("Final Database").Select Range("b2:b250").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:=False, Transpose:=False...........
I am trying to use the Vlookup function in a macro but I can't figure out how to write it. I am using a controlled loop to cycle through my data. So for the first entry, my lookup data is in cell A2. The lookup table is located in a sheet called 'Trade Table' and the lookup field is in Column B and value needed is in column C. The results go in column G. The excel formula is as follows:
how to add a vlookup to a longer macro I'm working on but I keep running into a variety of errors. I ended up creating a new Sub () to test out a very simple vlookup macro in the hopes of figuring out what's going on.
I went to this website VLOOKUP In VBA and copied exactly a sample code they provided there (only thing I changed was substituting in my own lookup value and range), but I'm still getting an "object required" error. Is there something wrong with the provided code, or do I have a setting off on my computer? I've tried to use vlookup in a macro several different ways but I keep getting assorted errors (including object required)
Code:
Sub Fustrated() Dim E_name As String E_name = "Lira" Sal = Application.WorksheetFunction.VLookup(E_name, Admin.Range("AF3:AG12"), 2, False) MsgBox "Number" And Sal End Sub
I have the below code that performs a Vlookup. What I need to do is enclose the value that has been looked up into single quotation marks, one at the beginning and one at the end.
Sub SourceVLook() Dim LastRow As Long Dim LookupRange As Range
I write quite a few macros that require a vlookup formula. The table array is often dynamic which means I must change my program. I am trying to find a way to create the formula to accomodate the growth of the table array. I can count the number of rows in the table by the counta function, but then when I try to use that variable in the formula it bombs.
I am doing a vlookup accross two sheets where I am adding up the first Vlookup with the second vlookup (ie vlookup sheet 1 + vlookup sheet2) and in one of the sheets the vlookup formula finds a value but in the other sheet it finds nothing. As such when the two formulas are added together it gives a value of #N/A. Since I have made a macro for this it is annoying.
The macro is as follows:
Sub Vlookup() Dim rowc As Long Dim i As Long
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
rowc = Application.WorksheetFunction. CountA( Range("a:a")) For i = 2 To rowc Cells(i, 3) = "=-VLOOKUP(RC[-2],Hksaldo!C[-2]:C[3],6,FALSE)+VLOOKUP(RC[-2],Likv!C[-2]:C[2],5,FALSE)" Next i
End Sub
how I can get around this. Ie when I have a non applicable value i one of the Vlookup formula the formula should only look at the vlookup with a value?
why the macro "try()" in the attached workbook does not work?
I get the error message: "Unable to get the Vlookup property of the WorksheetFunction class"
Sub try() Dim i% For i = 1 To 35 Sheets("Sheet2").Select myValue = Cells(i, 1).Value Sheets("Sheet1").Select n = WorksheetFunction.VLookup(myValue, "A1:A11", 1, True) Sheets("Sheet2").Select Cells(i, 2).Value = n Next i End Sub
I've 2 excel files open. The first with my data, and a second with a huge range. I need to work with a macro that used vlookup to get a value from the second file in the first.
My code:
VB: Sub mysub()
Dim i As Integer Dim y As Integer Dim match As String Dim no_match As Integer Dim rng As Range 'Set rng = Workbooks("wb2").Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("$A$1:$B$2704")
