Updating A Particular Row Number Based On Search

way I could perform a basic search for data in a worksheet and have it display information from each column in various text boxes, which will update the relevant column if you changed the text in the box and clicked on a submit button?

For example the form would initially have just a text box named "RefNum". You click the "search" button. It would then search column A of sheet "References" for a result.

If total results are 0, it will show a message box saying "No results found for reference number 'RefNum'". Otherwise, it would make the text fields below no longer locked and populate each textbox with information from column A, B, C & D depending on which row number the RefNum had matched?

Drag Down Formula But Cell Reference Number Not Updating?

I am trying to drag down a formula (see below). the cell reference A6 and E6 is not updating to A7 and E7 etc etc when i drag the formula down using the corner thing. it remains constant at A6 and E6.

=HYPERLINK("#INDEX('Shipping Tracker Week X'!$F$4:$F$3000,MATCH(1,('Shipping Tracker Week X'!$B$4:$B$3000=A6)*('Shipping Tracker Week X'!$D$4:$D$3000=E6),0))","Link 1")

im pretty sure the problem comes down to the hashtag and quotation marks that i added, as the formula properly increased the cell references when i drag down without the hashtag and quotations. however, i sort of need it because adding those seems to be the only way i can get the hyperlink to link me over to the other sheet and to the correct cell containing the hyperlink.

part 2 of problem: the hashtag and quotations is currently a workaround method for me. the original intention was for the hyperlink to directly link me to a website, which is referenced from a separate sheet. however, without the hashtag and quotations, i get a "Cannot open specified file" error.

I have two dynamic named ranges that are:

- identically sized;
- single column;
- multiple rows; and
- both start at same row on worksheet.

They are named 'rngTrackingWorkStarted" and "rngTrackingStatusCode". Using VBA, how do I check all the cells in the range so that; if the value of a cell in rngTrackingWorkStarted is equal to "Yes", the value of the corresponding cell (same row) in rngTrackingStatusCode should change to "G"?

Updating Number In A Single Cell From A Series Of Values In Column?

I am trying to read a value in cell A1 and make say cell B1 read the same. The data in cell A1 is a real time percentage value that gets updated every lets say 10 secs. Every time the data is updated the new value goes into the next cell A2, A3, A4..... and so on. Every time it gets updated (i.e into A1,A2,A3,A4.....and so on), I want to read the new value each time in B1.

Automatically Updating Graphs Based On Date?

I have a number of tables which I update on a weekly basis and I've created a number of graphs based on these values, but I only want the graphs to show the previous full months complete data rather than the most recent update. Also, I'd like the graphs to automatically update from the table at the start of each month for the preceding months complete data without me having to re-select the data range each month.

Updating Cells Based On List Selection

I am working on a spreadsheet that is essentially a question and answer based document .... I need to set up the macros so that if a certain response is chosen from a list, it will automatically update the cell / row next to it with a pre-determined response ....

The way the spreadsheet is set up is that the first column has the question, the second column has the answer (yes, no or N/A - from data validation - as a list) and the third column is blank - but is titled "comment/action" .....

For example: if the question is "have you locked the car" and the answer column selects "NO" then I want the "comments/action" to come back with "you need to lock the car", and if the answer is "YES" then I want the comment/actions column to remain blank ...... The same with N/A ......

I will have around 100 questions in the document ...... I know I need to set up the responses on a separate worksheet - i just dont know what the macro's are to identify and place the appropriate response from the worksheet to the relevant comment/action column .....

Updating Value In Table Based On User Input

I have one sheet to act as a splash page for user input. The second sheet stores all relevant data. My goal is for the user to input a numerical value in a cell (or input box) and then click a submit button. The code for the macro should look at a cell on sheet 1 which displays the primary key of the row in the table on sheet

2. Based on that primary key, it should look to sheet 2 and then insert the value into the table in the correct row and column. The column headings are the days of the week, and the specific day the user is concerned with is also displayed on sheet 1.

Sheet 1:

A1 = Day of the week
A2 = Unique primary key
A3 = user input value

Sheet 2:
Rows=primary key (001 - 999)
Columns = days of the week (Monday - Friday)

user inputs '5' on sheet 1 with 'Tuesday' and '007' selected in their respective cells. I would then like 5 to be copied to B7 (row 7 for 007 and column B for Tuesday).

What I am trying to do would appear to be very simple. I am trying to build a quotation form for our sales guys to use. I would like to use a drop down list with the list of products in, which I have created using a list in a second sheet and then using a data validation drop down list.

What I would like to achieve is the sales person selects the product (of a list of only 14) from the list and excel to automatically fill in the two columns to the right with the model no. and also the price.

Would it be possible to use an IF statement as there are only 14 products to choose from? Is there a better way of doing this? I have created the lists of model numbers and prices in the second sheet alongside the product name which the drop down list sources from.

I have created a pricing sensitivity for a list of products. In cell C3, users can select a product (i.e. Apple, Elmo, or Bowl) and based on this selection, a range of Prices and Units are then updated and the Revenue for each price point calculated. A few lines beneath this, I have a little summary table that lists all the products. I'd like for users to be able to enter in the optimal price point for each item and then have the Units and Revenue for that selected price point for that specific product automatically update.

For example, if I select Apple from my drop down list my price choices are $5, $10, $15; units are 100, 85, 70; and revenue are $500, $850, and $1,050 respectively. On the summary table, I would like units 85, revenue $850 to update automatically if I select/input a $10 price. This would happen for all the products so at the end I want to be able to calculate a blended revenue mix given my pricing changes.

i am trying to figure out, how to automatically update time, based on specific city's time zone? Lets say, if the city is dallas, time zone is Central GMT-6. In the next cell, the time shows up as Dallas's local time, instead of local computer time. And this time updates itself after every 2 min.

2ndly, if that city's time is later than 8:59 PM local time, that specific city's cell grays out.

I'm using Excel 2007. I would like to seek some advise on how i may update cells after selecting a month from a drop down list.

i have created a simplified version of what i intend to have. One the 1st tab 'Cash Budget 2009', i have filled up a table with numbers, sorted by months. On the 2nd tab 'Dec09', i would like to create an expense table, to be able to be selected by month. So i have created a drop down list based on the months that are created in the 1st tab.

Upon selection of the month from the drop down list, i would like the cells to display (fetch) the data from the 1st worksheet. It would also be helpful if the name of the 2nd tab can be updated to read as the month that is being selected.

I have a list of two columns. Here’s an example. The left most column provides the row number.

Whenever there are two repeating numbers in column one, I want to reduce certain numbers in column 2 by a certain amount. The amount is determined by half the difference between the number in column B corresponding to the second repeated number and the number in column B corresponding to the row after the second repeating number. The range of numbers that are to be reduced begins with the row after the second repeating number and ends with the last row before number one appears in column A. The values in column A are integers, always starting with one. For example, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

For the above example, after finding the repeating number two’s at A2 and A3, it would reduce B4 through B6 by half the difference between B3 and B4 (1/2). The values for B4 through B6 would be updated in column B. The same for the next repeated numbers, which is one at A7 and A8. Half the difference between B8 and B9 is 1.

Here’s what the updated list would look like:

Automatically Updating Adjacent Cells Based On Dropdown List Selection Even If Changed

I have a workbook that has two worksheets. One worksheet is an input worksheet. A user will select a date from a drop-down list and type in the events that occurred on that date in 8 adjacent cells. The user selects a button that advances date and clears form. On sheet 2, whatever was typed into sheet one is saved via VLOOKUP formula. However, if I try to change something retroactively and select a previous date from the drop-down list, it clears everything in sheet 2 that was typed for any selected day.

I am trying to workout a formula to look-up and categorize data from a bank statement, without having to complete manually monthly.

So far I have a formula that returns the amount spent, but would need an extra column and separate table for each category.

Instead of returning B2, I would like to return a value from the table in column H3:H11 that corresponds with G2:G11, as shown below.

I've been using this site mostly for tid bits of code for VBA macros for the past few weeks. One that I was looking at and could really use doesn't seem to be working. I will be the first to tell you I have ZERO idea how to program macros, I just use them. I have a worksheet(sheet1) that contains, among other things, a column of serial numbers . I also have a separate worksheet(sheet2) with one column of the serial numbers I want to find in sheet1. I need a macro that will take the serial numbers from sheet2 and find them on sheet1(there are duplicates too) so I can copy them to yet another sheet(sheet3). I have 2 excel sheets format is below mention. In sheet one i have some number with ISD code and in second sheet i have country name and Code. now i want to match Country name in sheet one but my problem is that there are some code are in 1 digit and some code are in 2,3,4,5 digits. If you see in example 220 is belong to Gambia and 224 belong to Guinea so first i want to match all code who is having 1 digit code second who is having 2 digit than 3 digit, 4 digit respectively.

If I'm using below mention formula it's give me first value from sheet to:

I am trying to search for a certain date and get its row and column number. I am having trouble finding the dates due to its date formats.
4/1/14 4/01/2014 etc

I am using this code to search Set Foundcell = Range("1:1").Find(What:=(Sheets("Data").Range("AF1").Value)).row

When debugging the value of the Foundcell I am getting NOTHING as a result even if the the value at AF1 is 4/1/14
However if I find using the .Find(What:="4/1/2014").row i am getting the row number

I also tried application.match function. foundcell= Application.Match(Sheets("Data entry").Range("AF1").Value, Sheets("Data entry").Range("1:1"), 0) result is NOTHING

I have data on two spread sheets which I am trying to cross reference. On the 1st spread sheet I have a list of product codes e.g. 22886, On the 2nd Spread sheet I have a list of product titles which all include product codes within the text e.g. CHRISTMAS FANCY DRESS COSTUME - SANTA SPARKLE OUTFIT 22886 M

I need to insert a formula into the 1st spread sheet which will tell me if based on the product code it is present in the 2nd spread sheet. I have tried VLOOKUP and I think because I am trying to search for a code within a text string it keeps failing! All cells are general cells but the position of the code within the titles varies.

Updating Contents Of One Worksheet Based On Criteria In Another Worksheet (2)

OK, two files attached in the zipfile, pricelist-half.xls and pricelist-full.xls

The background is that i exported a file from our warehouse system so we could update prices and re-import it. That is the pricelist-half.xls

After our staff had spent a few days working on it, it came to light that (as the name suggests!) its only about half the products that should have been exported that are on the list.

Hence the second file, pricelist-full.xls which as its name suggests is the full
product list.

What I need to happen, to make this as painless as possible, is somehow for the items/rows that are on the full list, but not on the half list to be inserted to the half list but also have a yellow background for their rows so they stand out clearly.
