I am trying to read a value in cell A1 and make say cell B1 read the same. The data in cell A1 is a real time percentage value that gets updated every lets say 10 secs. Every time the data is updated the new value goes into the next cell A2, A3, A4..... and so on. Every time it gets updated (i.e into A1,A2,A3,A4.....and so on), I want to read the new value each time in B1.

For example: before the code: "1,2,3,5,6" and then after it "1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9." The code must be flexible, though, because it will be running within another Macro, and it must work whether the last number in the list is 1 digit ("...4,5,8"), 2 digit ("...34,35,36") or 3 digit ("...111, 113, 114"). Those three examples would be changed into "...4,5,8, 9, 10, 11" "...34,35,36, 37, 38, 39" "...111, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117".

I want the formula to return 4 if the cells has PXX--XXP or 3 if the cells has --OXX etc.
I have A:1 - X365 filled with hourly energy prices for 2013. I need to convert these to a single column - A1:A8760. I have tried writing some code and some macros with no success.
If I were to do it manually 365 times, the macro would look like this:
Copy Row A1:X1
select sheet 2
Paste Special > Transpose (fills A1:A24)
repeat for rows 2-365
Tried using this from a previous post, but it takes A1:A24 then B1:B24 and so on and makes them a single column - so it doesn't work unfortunately.

The original data exists within one column on a summary sheet (could have up to 500 individual entries). I want to copy each individual entry to a unique sheet (that already exists), but in the exact same cell location within each sheet. I would only want to copy the original data value and not any formatting. Is there an efficient way to do this?
In my example spreadsheet, the original data is on the SUMMARY sheet. Sheets A through J would be the target sheets, with cell B2 as the target location for each of those sheets. My example shows the result of a manual copy paste value process, but I am hoping to automate that.

When selecting menu Formulas and then "Show Formulas" chart data series do not display
When selecting a Chart the "Show Formula" selection is not available (at least I did not find it)
In addition, when selecting the Chart, Then Design, then "Select Data", it replies in the pop-up with the comment "The data range is too complex to be displayed...."
There are about 40-60 formulas as shown below!!

I need to fill the empty cell with the "series" (2 of 2, 2 of 16, 3 of 16). This is just an example of data - there are all different series - 1 of 12, 1 of 5, etc.
Anyway - was hoping to highlight the whole column and be able to auto fill instead of having to extend each series. I have tried straightforward fill series which doesnt work of course. I have tried go to special - blanks but cant find right combo to make it work.
Will it work or do I have to either do manually or with a macro?
I run a large simulation experiment. I have a loop plotting data in excel of a user defined area. Because of the limit of 255 series I have allowed a maximum of 250 simulations (they all need to be plotted). But the length of each simulation is free. I know there is a limit of 32.000 data points in a graph and I have this as a condition too.
If I set the data range to 100 columns and 3000 rows the graph is produced when I plot by columns. (code below)
But if I set the data range to 250 columns and 1000 rows I get the above mentioned error message. Even though I only have 250 series.

I am creating a tool that is populating information off of another excel document and presenting the information in a different format then the data originally appears. Basically I am unsure how to create a formula, for example, in cell A1, that as I drag it down (A2, A3, etc) the column letter in the formula advances but the row number remains the same. In another words as the formula moves into cell A2, the "Sheet1!D3" changes to "Sheet1!E3", where as normally it would advance to "Sheet1!D4". I just started back up in excel, im sure this is way easier then I am making it seem but I have been unable to come up with a solution.

Whenever there are two repeating numbers in column one, I want to reduce certain numbers in column 2 by a certain amount. The amount is determined by half the difference between the number in column B corresponding to the second repeated number and the number in column B corresponding to the row after the second repeating number. The range of numbers that are to be reduced begins with the row after the second repeating number and ends with the last row before number one appears in column A. The values in column A are integers, always starting with one. For example, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
For the above example, after finding the repeating number two’s at A2 and A3, it would reduce B4 through B6 by half the difference between B3 and B4 (1/2). The values for B4 through B6 would be updated in column B. The same for the next repeated numbers, which is one at A7 and A8. Half the difference between B8 and B9 is 1.
Here’s what the updated list would look like:

I am having trouble writing a code for something I need to do. There is a workbook with a worksheet for each month. At the start of every month a new worksheet is added. The opening data in this new worksheet is coming from the closing data of previous month, and some of this data is modified as the month passes.
So, in a way, some of the data for each month depends on the data of previous months. If there was an error in one of the cells, for say, January, and it was corrected manually, it will affect the cell values for feb, march, and so on. Currently, its all a manual process - from copying previous month's data to a new worksheet, and manually correcting errors in each worksheet, which is error -prone and a time consuming process. Is there any way to link each month's data and create an "update values" button clicking on which will update the values for cells in every month's worksheet following the one which had errors in it and was manually updated. It has to one directional.
I'm using this to update a range of cells after an automatic copy and paste procedure;

What it is supposed to do is look in column B and find any non-blank cells. If it finds one, it should check the following and update column W as necessary;
1) Column B shows 1, column P is not empty, column W is empty - UPDATE COLUMN W WITH 'Letter 1'
2) Column B shows 2, column P is not empty, column W is empty - UPDATE COLUMN W WITH 'Letter 2'
3) Column B shows any value, (not blank), column P is empty, column W is empty - UPDATE COLUMN W WITH 'N/A'
The issue is that it is updating the cells as required, but it then goes on to fill the entire sheet with 44819 in every single cell.
I am trying to drag down a formula (see below). the cell reference A6 and E6 is not updating to A7 and E7 etc etc when i drag the formula down using the corner thing. it remains constant at A6 and E6.

im pretty sure the problem comes down to the hashtag and quotation marks that i added, as the formula properly increased the cell references when i drag down without the hashtag and quotations. however, i sort of need it because adding those seems to be the only way i can get the hyperlink to link me over to the other sheet and to the correct cell containing the hyperlink.
part 2 of problem: the hashtag and quotations is currently a workaround method for me. the original intention was for the hyperlink to directly link me to a website, which is referenced from a separate sheet. however, without the hashtag and quotations, i get a "Cannot open specified file" error.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOk I'm writing an extraction formula. I've got my array of Trues and Falses, but now I need to go through each row and check if all the columns are TRUE, and then return the row if all the columns are true.
Right now I'm just working with a dummy set of data... my real table is some 50 columns wide and over 300 rows, but this gives you the idea of what I'm doing:
I tried putting in a Countif and using it like and array to count the different rows and return the number of times each row was returned... but countif goes nuts when you try an array for the criteria.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI created a spreadsheet for use by the shipping department where I work. We are trying to prevent pulling and shipping the incorrect item to the customer. This is how it works. The employee downloads a CSV file containing items that have been purchased from our website and imports the file into the excel. Then the item is pulled and the employee scans the item's barcode into the spreadsheet named "SCAN." Formulas and code on the "reference" sheet look for the SKU number in the list from the CSV file while others create a consolidated list of SKUs that have been scanned, SKUs that have a problem and need to go to customer service, and SKUs from the CSV file that have yet to be scanned. Some of the formulas in this workbook have been borrowed from forums like this and altered to fit my needs - I'll admit I'm not even entirely sure how they work.
Occasionally a SKU is scanned in twice and not always sequentially which will effect the total item count. It can be very difficult to find the duplicates in the list.
I would like for any value that appears more than once in column B of the 'SCAN' sheet to be highlighted. I have tried to do this, but to no avail.

I'm looking for a way in VBA to have A1:D20 in Sheet2 copied and pasted in the "Bank Reconciliation" Sheet based on how many "Markets" there are in Column A. Then, once that's complete to have A22:D30 (the smaller box in Sheet2) copied and pasted directly below those results.
I have what the macro would hopefully generate to the right in "Bank Reconciliation" (B6:E54) as an example. So if there's a market in A1, copy and paste the box to B6. If there's a market in A2, copy and paste the box directly below the first (B26) etc. etc. until it's done, then paste the smaller box directly below whatever the macro generates.

I have a log where I'm recording daily readings of a pipette. Each day three readings are taken and I have each stored as a dynamic range so that I can monitor how in control my process is. However, when I graph it, I would like it to be one continuous line graph (Three readings from day one followed by three readings from day two, etc.). I'm having difficulty doing any sort of combination.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an XY chart that I would like to have the user select a single data point in the chart and be able to add a comment in a table corresponding to that point. For example: if the x-values are in A1:A10, y-values are in B1:B10, the user can select a point, say the 4th point, have some code run that will enter a text string into cell C4. I can manage the code to add the text to the appropriate location, but I'm having trouble with 2 things.
First, how can I ensure that the user has selected a single point (as opposed to the entire series or the chart background)?
And second, how can I determine which point is selected? I think I need to determine the point's item number in the SeriesCollection, then offset that number of rows in my data table. But I can't find a way to retrieve that number.
