I need it to take the text in the cell that comes up and process it as code. The text will look something like this.
"Here is the list of names:" & chr(13) & chr(13) & range(firstName)
The msgbox from above is used over and over again in different situations. Also I want the flexiblity to put the code right into a hidden cell on the spreadsheet.
I need a macro to do this: in a cell with text and numbers, keep all the numbers started with 9 and eliminate the text. If there is a cell with two numbers stared with 9, the macro must put one on the first cell and the other on same line, on next column.
I am about to take on a rather large excel project for our company. The first part is coming up with how to deal with our drafting department's length inputs. In this project, our users will be entering lengths in a unique format. I have to convert that unique format to a standard Foot-Inch-Fraction format.
To try to keep the file size down and keep the complexity down, converting a cell formula to VBA so i can run this on a group of cells rather than repeating my code downward multiple rows on multiple sheets.
It is either this or come up with my own font that will convert it for me but I do not know where to start with that. How to take a stab at converting this to a VB code i can run?
A3 = 1.0108 B3 = 1'-1 1/2"
The code in B3 looks like this:
[Code] .......
An explanation of the unique format we use in our drafting department:
Basic Feet, Inch and Fraction format = 0 . 00 00 = Feet . Inch Fraction
The numbers left of the decimal point are feet. The first two numbers to the right of the decimal point are inches and the next two are sixteenths of an inch.
find a way to place a value of 1 (or a text "email sent: mm/dd/yy") in a specific cell on each row when an email is sent out through some VBA code I currently have. Then when the workbook is opened on another day, the code will look to see if that cell (target) is populated so that it doesn't trigger a second, third (repetitive) email every time the workbook is opened.
The spreadsheet contains rows of many clients, and growing every week. The code needs to be designed to search through each row, along a specific column (lets suppose column R beginning at row 7). When it finds the target rows blank, the code will turn each target cell red, as well as trigger a message box alerting that follow-up action is required.
I have a spreadsheet where when cell is clicked, it opens the hyperlink dialogue and allows a user to insert a hyperlink into the cell next to it.
Code: Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub If Target.Column = 27 And Target.Row > 7 And Target.Row < 401 Then If Application.Dialogs(xlDialogInsertHyperlink).Show Then Target.Cut Target.Offset(, 1) End If End If End Sub
So if the cell AA8 is click it allows the user to insert a hyperlink and the hyperlink is pasted in to the cell AB8.
What I need: Is for the cell AA8 to say "Click to Add Hyperlink" and then once a hyperlink is added AB8 to say in the cell "Hyperlink to Folder".
I have written the following code for blinking text.
But what I want is :
Suppose if I have a range of cells, in which I have text in red & green color.
Then whether it is possible to blink the text in red color only in a selected range ?
My Code :
Sub StartBlink() With ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("c3:c6").Font If .ColorIndex = 3 Then ' Red Text .ColorIndex = 2 ' White Text Else .colorindex = 3
I'm currently trying to compare all of my companies data sources for staff, ie helpdesk, telephony, ldap etc. and I have made quite a bit of progress, mostly thanks to this forum, however one issue I am running into, is the fact that when I use the text to columns funtion (in a macro) it's splitting up names which are double barrelled into 3 columns. The names are in the format of...
This is probably far easier then I am making it but I need to take the information that is in a textbox created through the control toolbox and copy and paste that information into a cell on different tab in the workbook. I have tried the infamous google and haven't been able to find much. The excel books that I have don't really touch on the control toolbox functions.
1) change to a different sheet 2) select a specific cell range 3) save that range as a text / xml file with a filename derived from a cell outside the given range
I am trying to clean up and simplify my macros by compartmentalizing frequently repeated commands. I like to search for text in column headings and define the cell containing it as a range that I can later use .column or .row commands on, so my macros are a bit more flexible. The code I currently use for this is
Dim XColumn As Range ‘the cell containing the text “X” Cells.Select Selection.Find(What:="X", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, _ LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _ MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate Set XColumn = ActiveCell
I would like to be able to create a Macro (possibly name FindSetCell()) that will accept arguments and achieve the results of the above code in other macros I think the command might look something like FindSetCell(“text to be searched for”,”name of newly Defined Range”) But I have not figured out how to code it
I have a spreadsheet that will contain about 5-15 rows with a letter "S" in the column. If this letter S appears in the column, I need its entire row to change font color to RED and then change that row's value in column L to a negative number. is there any easy way to do this?
I have problem to change text code into numerical code using macro. i have data contain text code and i would like to convert it into numeric . each text code has dedicated numerical code for example I have 4 fluids with text code text code:
FW = Fresh water SW = Saline eater CW = connate water MW = Meteoric water
numeric code as follow
FW=1 SW=2 CW=3 MW=4
I would like to convert the text code into numeric code, it is easy if using excell , but it is routine job for me , i need to create macro to be more simple .
I am trying to determine how to get the code below to fire whenever cell J10 is populated and do nothing when cell J10 is not populated but I can't quite get it. (Cell J10 is manually changed and is not changed based off of a formula)
I have 2 tabs in a 2013 workbook. Inventory Receipts and lookups. One of the Data verification lookups I have is a drop down list in each cell in Column B (eg: Cat, Dog, Mouse) In the lookups tab I have another cell range containing the sounds (eg: Meow, Bark, Squeak).
What I am trying to acheive is, if B2 contains Cat, then return Meow in B3, if B2 contains Dog then return bark in b3 and if B2 contains Mouse return squeak in B3. Ideally I would like the formula to return the text from my lookup sheet (eg: 'Lookups'!C2,'Lookups'!C3,'Lookups'!C4). So depending on which option they choose from my animal drop down list .. the correct noise would automatically fill in.
I have four cells that contain text. All have connected check boxes with TRUE FALSE.
I need to be able to select anyone one of these cells with a check box, and have it's text appear in one separate cell eg: A1.
I have no issue connecting check boxes etc. I have no issue reproducing the text from any of these cells into multiple cells with a check box. But they have to be selectable and reproducing in one cell only (eg"A1").
As per title, I am trying to compare a column of text cells which contain "Yes" or are empty and a columns of numbers. If they are "Yes" and "1" on the same row, I want to output an "OK" message. Excel seems happy with the following code but it does not work and returns an empty cell if the two conditions are true.
Its been 3 days im trying to use vba for excel. However after lot of struggle i was able to make user form in which i enter data in textbox1 it searches from the sheets and puts the data in the rest of text boxes On the other hand i made a code which makes a word document basically a notice. Which uses data such as names and ids from cells but now i want to mix both. As now i want is that if i search using the user-form i want to add one more button to that same user-box which executes data from that user form to put values on notice
Column B has list of Balance Sheet items for business and Column D has associated values. I need to perform the following:
Look for following text and if it finds it then change the font size to 16, bold it,center align and make the associated cell in column D as mentioned below.
ASSETS ....change the cell color in column D to white (Invisible). Cash and Bank Accounts TOTAL Cash and Bank Accounts Other Assets ....change the cell color in column D to white (Invisible). TOTAL Other Assets TOTAL ASSETS
I have the following code that updates columns A,B and C. The columns are hidden and have some 500 plus rows. Cell E2 reads the last entry in column A (a date, such as 1/22/10). I would like to add a line in the code that, if cell E2 equals todays date, will prevent a second update and display a message "Update Complete".
I have an Excel workbook that will be used by multiple users who share a network drive.
I would like to set it up so that the VBA code is ran from a text file stored on the network drive containing the VBA code. Basically a macro would run from the Excel workbook and get the VBA code from the text file and then run that code. Has anyone done this before or can anyone provide the syntax for this process?
I have a column of over 1000 cells with context in it. Each cell as a keyword in parathesis associated with the context. Therefore, different context are associated with the same keyword. However, the cells with the same keywords are spread out all over the 1000 cells.
Example:
cell1: anti-lock brake system (abs) cell2: baromic pressure (Baro) cell3: anti brake systematic (abs) ...
Basic solution: I need to create a vba code that would look through the 1000 cells for a specific keyword and copy all the cells having that keyword in parathesis into another spreadsheet or column, so I can look through them easily. so if i look for (abs) it will give me:
cell1: anti-lock brake system (abs) cell3: anti brake systematic (abs) ...
Ultimate solution: The VBA code would be "smart" enough to copy all 1000 cells in keywords order. It would give me all possibilities:
cell1: anti-lock brake system (abs) cell3: anti brake systematic (abs) cell2: baromic pressure(Baro) ...
Is it possible to have a code that says if I have a range of cells....say a1:d1 with d1 having a date in it....have that code say that if that date in d1 is greater than 30 days from today, make that whole range of cells (a1:d1) change color like to red.
I'm working on setting up a report template for my manager, who is a very visual person. I'm trying to make certain values within the report more noticable by color change and flashing/blinking. I've been looking online for VBE code that causes flashing/blinking cells when cell conditions change. I've attempted using some code I was able to find and tried to manipulate it to fit my needs, however, I have not been able to get it to work.
I'm trying to get the text (not the background color) within a range (i.e.K11:K31) to flash continuously based on the cells value. The cells in question are linked to cells on another workbook which is updated on occasion.
Values may be as follows:
AP F-Avoidable F-Unavoidable P RC ON
Cells in the range K11:K31 are linked to a similar cell range on another worksheet (i.e. the formula used is: =IF(Datasource1!K15=0," ",Datasource1!K15) ).
I keep running into with the code I've found are as follows:
1. Due to the values in K11:K31 being the result of a formula, the values/cells are not flashing.
2. The flashing is not continuous (i.e. everything I've found so far has a time limit). I have been able to manipulate the code to extend the amount of time the flashing occurs, but so far I've been unsuccessful in causing it to loop infinitely.
3. All of the code I've found so far causes the background rather than the text to flash (this is a minor issue, more of a preference on my part)..
