I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez() Dim IE As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com IE.Visible = True While IE.Busy DoEvents Wend
'IE.Navigate2 "javascript:SRT_keystuts.exportcsv()" 'this is the name of the download link as from when i hover my pointer over download link. End Sub
I'm using this simple code found on ozgrid to open all excel files in a folder...
Sub OpenAllWorkbooksInFolder() ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 'Written by www.Ozgrid.com
'Open all found Workbooks in specified folder '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Dim i As Integer
With Application.FileSearch .LookIn = "C:Data" '* represents wildcard characters .FileType = msoFileTypeExcelWorkbooks If .Execute > 0 Then 'Workbook exists For i = 1 To .FoundFiles.Count Workbooks.Open (.FoundFiles(i)) Next i........
I am using the code below to Open the most recent file in a folder. But once it Identifies the most recent file I get a run time error"1004"
xxxxxxxxxxxxx(name of File) could't be found. At line "Wookbooks.Open strFilename".My question is , why can't it open it, it has the location and the file name?
This code works as long as the macro and target file are in the same directory(Folder)
I am using excel 2007 and I’m trying to open a file folder from a worksheet using a control button. They are both in same file folder. I’ve have tried Workbooks.Open Filename:=ThisWorkbook.Path & "Report"
I also tried to record a macro but would not record going to file folder.
I have a folder called 'Refresh'. Every week a new file is dropped into that folder. Instead of me placing that new file into my workbook, i would like my macro to just grab it. Is there a way for VB to grab the most recently created file that comes into my 'Refresh' Folder.
Anyone up for getting me started on code to open a file in a "dynamic" directory, specifically:
Where
Main directory is G:REPORTS The file name is "Pivot_xx-xx-xx.xls" The directory where the file is located is G:REPORTSxx-xx-xx xx-xx-xx is yesterday's date
I am trying to write a macro to find a file in a specific folder. The file name changes weekly. (Ex. C:My Folder31207.xls). I need to find the most recently modified version of the file and open it.
I would like to run a macro that is going to open a file (Test.xls) Simple so far.... However, this file is 1. stored every month in a different folder (eg: 200709,200710, etc..) and the file is named according to the month (eg: Test09.xls, Test10.xls, etc...) In my excel book, I did created two cells which I already use to save a document according to those cells. One cell with Acct Period (200710) and another one with the month (10). I have tried the following formula with no success:
I am trying to open a folder so I may choose the workbook to open. I am able to open a workbook but I want to open the folder which contains the workbook.
I have a requirement to search workbooks in a particular folder with specific string in file name. For example, let us assume I need to find a file which contains the name 'RR' in it. The position of 'RR' will vary with files i.e. 'RR' might be present either in the beginning, middle or at the end of file name. All I wanted is to search for file with 'RR' and do some activity and close the file and then goto next file. Similarly, the next search has to be performed with the files containing the name 'BB' in it.
Code below is trying to search for a deal number within all file names within a set folder. There is one file in the folder with th deal number within, but it isn't finding it.
Code:
Sub Macro1() Dim lCount As Long Dim wbResults As Workbook
I have an Excel Worksheet (let's call it "AA.xlsm") which uses VBA code to loop through column A, update column B with some results/values, and then (for each value in column A) SaveAs the worksheet into a different filename/path as a ".csv" type file.
My line of code for the SaveAs is as follows: Workbooks("AA.xlsm").SaveAs LEpath & CurrFldr, FileFormat:=xlCSV
My problem is that my original worksheet, AA.xlsm, gets closed whereas I need it to stay open/active after each SaveAs iteration.
When it opens the desired file, it increments the file name by 1 each time it is opened (via the macro).
Example; The first time it is opened you see the file name in the header read "P'Binder L&T Pages" for a moment, then it changes to "P'Binder L&T Pages1"... I close the file and open it again (via the macro), and see the file name in the header read "P'Binder L&T Pages" for a moment, then it changes to "P'Binder L&T Pages2"... The file name continues to increment on every opening until the PC is rebooted, then it starts at 1 again.
Sub OpnLTpages()
Dim wb As Workbook Dim AlreadyOpen As Boolean
AlreadyOpen = False
For Each wb In Workbooks 'Scan open workbooks If wb.Name = "P'Binder L&T Pages.xls" Then ........................
The script below scans through a specified folder on a network and scans every xls file inside that folder for a value. When it finds the spreadsheet which contains that value (a policy number) it outputs some of the data from the matching file and also provides a link to the sheet in question.
It worked perfectly until I saved, exited and re-opened the file and now I am getting a 1004 run-time error every time I try and execute the script.
I cant for the life of me work out a cause.
More baffling, the wording of the error says that the file 'R:DirCancellations.xls' could not be found.
At no point is a file called 'Cancellations.xls' specified. Why has the script decided to search for a file called 'Cancellations'?
Sub Search()
ActiveSheet.unprotect ActiveWorkbook.unprotect Dim wb As Workbook Dim TheFile As String Dim MyPath As String Dim DirLoc As String Dim PolNum As String ActiveSheet.Range("C13:G25").ClearContents................
I am naming raw data files by the date of the data in the file. In another file I am using sumif and sumifs formulas to consolidate the data and organizing it by date, later to copy and paste special to keep the cleaned orgaized data in one spreadsheet. I would like to be able to reference a date and have excel open the appropriate file (named by the date) and then execute the sumif and sumifs formulas. If this is possible I can have the spreadsheet pull in all sorts of historical data all at once and I won't have to worry about copy paste special.
I am opening the file through the GetOpenFilename method. I am facing an error in of the cases... Like say or example i try and open a file with the XYZ.xls...which is already open. the system generates a mess saying "reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded. do you want to reopen XYZ.xls?"
if i click yes...it works fine by reopening the file but when i click to No...Runtime error 1004 comes:
"Method open of object workbooks failed "
and its giving an error here in the Workbooks.Open Filename:=sFilename ......
I have some daily text files in a folder (so about 30 of them each month), which in the end of month, I need to open them up in excel, format them so that I can use the information for my analysis.
I would like to create a macro, to quickly open them all up at once and save them each individually in .xls or .xlsm format.
I am new to VBA and after some research online, I was able to have the files open with the following code. but now I don't know how to proceed further to save them one by one with the same name but in .xls or .xlsm format.
Sub Opentxtfiles() Dim MyFolder As String Dim myfile As String
I have to run a report each morning and in once cell I need to pull in the contents of another cell from another worksheet. I'd rather not have to open the additional file each morning to copy and paste special the values so I'd like to add to my current macro to pull this data in automatically. I have to do this for two different reports/portfolios and the data I am pulling in for each portfolio is located in the same exel file but under two different tab names, the portfolio names 2010 and 2045.
Deliverables The spreadsheet I am pulling data in from is located here: K:Risk OversightMarket RiskTracking ErrorBARRA and the file name is: Daily Barra Tracking Error.xls
Tab name would be 2010 for the 2010 portfolio or 2045 for the 2045 portfolio The vlookup will be from "A32:B2500" and I would like to incorpoprate an IFERROR function that returns "" in the event of an error. Column "A" are dates and column "B" is the data I need to pull in.
Receivables I am pulling the data into cell "J23" of a summary report (sheet 2) and would like the vlookup to read something like this:
IFERROR(VLOOKUP("K1"Active.Workbook.Sheets2,[K:Risk OversightMarket RiskTracking ErrorBARRA"&"Daily Barra Tracking Error.xls"(Sheets)]."2010""A32:B2500",2,0),"")
This should return a blank cell if the date cannot be found in the data spreadsheet and return the correct data for teh correct date being referenced in my summary sheet.
how to do the bracketed parts for pulling in the right spreadsheet and tab.
I am trying to adapt a macro to run on data that is consistently in the same format but the data does change, the macro needs to run over and over on new excel workbooks, dynamic range ? instead of a set source ?
I have a macro that takes the date from different excel sheets, consolidates the data and renders the pivot table and chart accordingly. It was working fine when the date range defined for the pivot table was static. Now I have made it dynamic since the data range changes each month depending on the number of days it has got. When I run the macro, it runs succesfully, generates the report and save & close the report, but after that I am getting this error. Errorneous
I make calculations for these projects using an excel file. In this excel I also type the projectnumber (cell J2)
Now i would like to make a button. When pressed, it checks the projectnumber cell J2, looksup the corresponding folder and saves the excelfile in PDF format in this folder.
I have found macro to find files in folders, but none which do the above.
