VBA To Paste Cells According To List Of Cell References

Jun 3, 2014

I would like to paste cells from a contiguous range to a non-contiguous range using a list of cell references as the target paste cells. Both the target and the source cells will be on the same sheet. The source cells will contain an INDEX/MATCH formula - the result in each cell is what I wish to copy then paste. I would like to activate the code by assigning the macro to a button.

The source columns look roughly like this:

Title
Index/match result
Cell reference to paste to

Text 1
23
B5

Text 2
Peter
H7

Text 3
Continuous
D11

Text 4
[BLANK]
F7

Text 5
Membrane
J12

.......
.......
.......

Text 57
Yes
K33

The Target columns are all over, as shown by column three above. I would like the code to run though the full list of index match results all the way to the last 'Text 57' - the code can either skip blanks or paste these also, I don't mind. I haven't written the INDEX/MATCH yet so it may return zeros if there is no data to pull.

I attach the full example here. Entry Form EG.xlsx

VBA Filtering A List Between 2 Dates From Cell References

Sep 26, 2011

I'm trying to filter a list between two dates that are selected using drop down lists in Cells CZ1 and CZ2.

The first part of the code works ok ie it filters the list by column 28 as "Shipped" only.

The second part is causing me trouble.

The third part sorts the list by date order based on column 48 and this also works ok.

Code:

Sub FilterTransactionDates()
With Sheet1
.AutoFilterMode = False
.Range("A1:CU1").AutoFilter
.Range("A1:CU1").AutoFilter Field:=28, Criteria1:="Shipped"
.Range("A1:CU1").AutoFilter Field:=48, Criteria1:>=Range("CZ1").Value, Operator:= _

Structured References And With Cell References I Get A Column Of Zeros

Nov 25, 2007

It is suppose to be that if the employee is "FT" and has worked >=4 years the return is 15. But if the employee is FT and has worked 2 years but less than 4 years then it is suppose to return 10 (these are days off) Or if the employee is FT and has worked 1 year, but less than 2 then it should return 5 days off. And all the others in the column get no days off.

I have tried to do it with structured references and with cell references I get a column of zeros!

Cells Values For External Cell References

Apr 17, 2008

Is there a way of writing a formula to create a reference to an external spreadsheet? I have a folder containing 100s of workbooks all based upon a template. I can create a directory listing of this folder using a macro within Excel.

e.g.
Directory listing
C:My DocumentsReturnsFile1.xls
C:My DocumentsReturnsFile2.xls
C:My DocumentsReturnsFile3.xls

I would then like to use this list of file paths to create links to several different cells within worksheets contained in each of these. I know that if I did this manually for each worksheet the formula would be a variation on =[C:My DocumentsReturnsFile1.xls]Sheet!Cell. Is there a way that I can automatically create these external references? i.e using values in column A (directory listing) to create many external references, say in column B

I use my directory list and then a formula or macro populates automatically these external references? The file names in the directory change daily (100s of worksheets!) so I don't want to have to manually input these each time. If the folder containing the workbooks was held on an intranet would there be a similar solution?

Absolute Cell References For Large Amount Of Cells?

Aug 13, 2014

I want to link a number of cells on one worksheet back to another worksheet within the same workbook. Say everything from Cells A1 to M90.

I find the fastest way to do this link A1 on second worksheet to A1 on first worksheet (by using = and click on worksheet 1 Cell A1).
I then click on cell A1 on worksheet 2, grab small square in bottom right hand side of cell, and drag accross to M1.
While A1 TO M1 is still highlighted, I then grab small square on bottom of cell M1 and drag down to M90.

This makes all cells within this range reference back to worksheet1. In advanced settings I have unchecked for all blank cells to show a zero in woksheet 2.

Therefore I now have what I currently want, although I would like to make all reference absolute?

I tried doing this from the beginning again making A1 absolute at the start, but dragging the cells across and down does not provide the info I am looking for in all cells?

Change Validation List Value And Copy / Paste From Dependent Cells?

I have a sheet which autofilters according to a validation list in cell E2 using the code.

I have then used subtotal arrays to calculate the mean, median, max, min and total count for whichever values the filter shows.

What I want to do next is have a code which will select each possible option from the validation list (triggering the autofilter) and copy and paste the values from each dependent formula into a new sheet.

Creating Unique List Using 3D References

Jan 24, 2014

I am attempting to create a unique list on column B of tab "1" from columns B of tabs "2" through "5" for which i have the following array formula thus far,

=IFERROR(INDEX(??3Dreference??, MATCH(0,COUNTIF($B$3:$B3,??3Dreference??),0)),"")

I've attempted to list my tab names somewhere on the sheet and inserting this into the previous formula,

INDIRECT("'"&$P$4:$P$7&"'!B3:B300")

However this will only return the first value from column B on each tab and I'm assuming its because INDEX and COUNTIF do not accept 3d references.

Based on the users selection of an item in the listbox, certain rows will be copied over from another tab in the excel file.

An error occurs when a Model Number list box item is selected but not when a product ID is selected.

The difference between the two are AlphaNumeric vs only numeric.

the code is:

Put List Of Cells Into UserForm Textbox And Have List Assigned Cell Value?

Feb 8, 2014

I would like to take a List of numbers, which come from a separate spreadsheet, place them into a UserForm text box and then use a command button to input the list of numbers into a column of cells. The list would often vary, between 1 and 10 entries. But if I could do this, I would be able to resolve an issue with my spreadsheet that continues to haunt me (the dreaded number stored as text.....). I know that you can assign a single textbox value to a single range-cell value. But if I could input a list at a time, it would obviously save a lot of effort.

Example

In spreadsheet #1, I would copy the list below.

25466
87550
66985
44252

In the user form I would paste these numbers into the text box and they would be input into Sheet #2

B6 = 25466
B7 = 87550
etc. etc.

Search For & Merge List Of Text Files Named In Worksheet And Paste In A Specifc Cell

Aug 20, 2006

I did a search for " import text" and found some promising leads, but not exactly what I was looking for. I have tried running macros and looking at the code but don't know how to pass the file names from the the D47:D147 range to VBA(see below). I saw elsewhere that Excel can be told to create a temporary batch file, and that the batch file with the command "copy text1.txt+text2.txt+text3.txt all.txt" for example could be used to merge the 3 text files into a file called all.txt. I don't however know how specify the path where copy starts, to tell the batch file to look in subdirectories or to pass the file into Excel. I've posted this question yesterday to Yahoo Answers http://tinyurl.com/omers and http://tinyurl.com/rfww9 without much luck.

Below is the macro I would like:I have text files whose names are found in the range D47:D147 although without the appended ".txt" extension. The sheets can only contain one name sometimes, but on average 8 to 10, so in the average case only cells D47:D56 would have entries.The text files are found in the say H:Textfiles directory or subdirectories.I would like Excel to find these files, concatenate them with a row between each file, and paste the results into cell K251.Finally, the text import wizard should be used with a space as a delimiter and the last 3 columns (it's sometimes only 2) of the concatenated file, not imported.

Changing Hard Coded Column References To Variable References

Oct 22, 2009

I have a number of statements within the Sheet Event Code (Excel 2007). Three times lately I have added a column and had to go back into the code and find all of the references that needed changing to reflect the new column.

I have been working on this for a couple of days and even tried EE, but to no success.

I have read that Defined Names / Constants should be used as often as possible, but even trying that, the VBA code errors out or "hangs up". Even within Bill Jalen's book (VBA and Macros 2007), there is nothing that addresses this, especially using Intersect.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim rng As Range

On Error GoTo mEnd
Set rng = Sheets("Log").[F14:F10000]
If Not Intersect(rng, Target) Is Nothing Then
If Target = "" Then
With Sheets("Log")

Use Cells For Formula References

Formula In Cells With Changing References

Mar 12, 2009

I am running a research experiment in triplicate. Upon generation of data for all three, I create an averaged value of the three. I then take this value and do more calculations with it on a separate sheet. I wanted to know if there was a way in which I could quickly generate formulas based on a changing reference cell.

Example Data:

V1A 28
V2A 26
v3A 30
AvA 28

V1B 20
V2B 22
V3B 18
AvB 20

Vxy represents the value of y sample, x triplicate. V1A being sample A, first triplicate. AvX is the average of the three values.

I want to be able to generate a formula that references AvA which can be applied to the cell immediately below to reference AvB. A simple example would be to square the average.

Example of what I'm doing:-

Defects Column in Summary Page

411 --> referenced from =Basements!L1 --> L1 contains =TEXT(COUNT($C$8:$C$100),"0") formula

56 --> referenced from =Level1!L1 --> L1 contains =TEXT(COUNT($C$8:$C$100),"0") formula

33 --> referenced from =Level2!L1 --> L1 contains =TEXT(COUNT($C$8:$C$100),"0") formula

When I go to do a simple SUM of 411,56,33 via =SUM(D3:D5) it returns a zero?
