Zeros Not Showing, The Result Is A Blank Cell
Aug 8, 2007
When i put a "0" in a currency formatted cell, the result is a blank cell. If i put any other number in there other than "0" it shows a dollar amount of that value (even .00001 works). I have also noticed that before i put a zero in that cell, i can go to the format of that cell, select currency, and i see a sample in the sample box ($0.00). But if i go to that cell, put a "0" in it and return to the format of the cell, the sample box is now blank and it doesn't even show a $ sign. I know the "0" is in the cell because i can see it in the formula bar. But on the sheet itself it does not display it.

with the data in the attached sheet, I create several different pivot tables that need show the count of the information in the columns M:DU. My issue is that the data is sent to me from a third party and the columns contain zeros that cause the counts to inflate.
What I would like to be able to do is run a macro that will search out any zeros in M:DU and replace them with a blank cell.
Unfortunately the number of rows increases with every monthly reporting cycle so the macro would need to be able to accommodate for that.

I have a formula in a cell and when I use the formula bar it shows me the correct answer but it doesn't show me it in the worksheet. Only the formula shows up.
The same formula could be another place in my worksheet and work fine.
I have tried changing format. Copying formula from another location and changing the information to fit my needs it won't show me the result.

I did a search 'cos I assumed this was so trivial it had to be out there, but couldn't find anything.
Have a row where one cell contains
= SUM(D3:D5)
How on earth do I specify the formatting so that if none of D3 to D5 contain any data, then the summed cell should show blank rather than (as it does) 0,00 ??
(FYI - am creating the SUM Formula via a VBA macro if that is relevant)

I have the following formula which works perfectly unless one of the cells has a value of zero;
=MIN(SUM(AD13),MIN(SUM(AK13)))
When AD13 = £60.00 and AK13 = £94.00 (or vice versa) the formula returns £60.00, which is correct. BUT when AK13 = £0.00 obviously the formula returns £0.00, but I would like the formula to still return £60.00.
How this can be done?

The formula that I came up with perfectly works well with clear values. Everytime there's a #NUM!, #VALUE! in my array, the result I want wont show up.
=(SUMPRODUCT(--($B$17:$B$22=C4),--($C$17:$C$22=$D$3),--($G$17:$G$22)))/D4
When I tried average+if and it still gave me the same error!
=AVERAGE(IF($B$17:$B$22=$C$4,IF($C$17:$C$22=$D$3,$G$17:$G$28)))

I'm attempting to create a spreadsheet to calculate various things at my work, however I'm running into a problem that I can't solve. In one cell, I have a formula that returns an value to two significant figures. The number of decimal points that this value has is then used at various points throughout the sheet to truncate/round/etc. However, if the first value has a trailing zero as the second significant figure (ex. 0.20), that trailing zero is dropped. This creates problems since downstream calculations are then truncating to an incorrect number of decimal points. How to retain this trailing zero IF the formula results in one?

I know this is an easy one but I'm unsure why I can't easily modify a formula. The key event in this formula is "+190". Every time I change the value the formula no longer works. I've copied to another cell and the formula no longer works. My question is when you have a formula like this one if you have to modify how do you do it and keep the formula working.

On the top, you'll see that even though there is an equation in cell "K" and merged cells "O and P" that the cell is reflecting a blank box (how I want it to look). Within the same workbook, a different worksheet that has the same exact cell settings is showing "$0.00" in those cells. I can't figure out how to get it to be blank! Yes, I tried the copy/paste from the cell that I like to the other worksheet but it doesn't work. Again - all of the cell settings are the same.

I would like to be able to round off the decimals resulted in the POV field on my worksheet and have a running total of the entries listed below. This occurs sometimes when the mileage units have decimals. In this example, the POV values display $1.00, 99 cents, and 93 cents. Their resulting total should be 2.92, but Excel calculates them as $2.93 due to the additional decimals.
The problem is that if I apply an =ROUND function to the formula in the POV field, while it will display a correct answer if all the date and mileage fields are filled in for which the formula has been applied, it will not give a running total in instances where there are empty date/mileage fields, reporting "VALUE!". Is there a way to force Excel to display the running total?
I have attached the worksheet, with the example above entered in. I have included the formula I've been trying to fix on my worksheet on the bottom as well.

I have this Formula in a excel sheet =IF(AND(COUNT(F12;G12)=2;G12<F12);G12-F12;IF(AND(COUNT(F12;G12)=2;G12>F12);ABS(F12-G12);""))
My problem is that when the result is 0 it just leaves a blank cell without a 0.
Can i correct this so that when the result is 0 it will actually show a 0 in the cell? I can´t put a 0 in the end of the formula because then it shows zeroes in all the cells without information aswell.

The below piece of code carries out a vlookup on a defined cells value and produces a result in sheet one, however if the column index number in sheet 2 (Database) is empty the result 00/01/1900 is produced.
I'm not sure how to say leave the result blank if the column index number is blank.
Excel 2010

I have the following bit of code that runs and is working MOSTLY correct. The code looks at the value of the combobox, loops through a range, finds the values in the assigned range that match the value in the combobox, and then adds the items to the listbox in multiple columns.
As I said, the code is MOSTLY working correct. Everything works, okay, except that only the first records shows up.
It's counting correctly, as I also have a label that does a listcount that is displaying the correct number. The problem is, that all other 95 records (the value I am searching in the combobox I have confirmed relates to 96 records) except the first one show as blank.
Code:
Sub cmbVolumeSKUs_Change()Dim r As Range, rAll As Range
Dim sTerm As String
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
sTerm = frmL.cmbVolumeSKUs
With Sheets("Volume Pricing")
[Code]...
EDIT: After reviewing the code line by line, it looks as though each new record is actually overwriting the first row. The record count is accurate, but each record found is being overwritten by the next. How can I get by this?

I am trying to get excel to sum totals, but exclude answers that are outside
of a certain range. I can get it to do this by using =IF(Z8>0.5,Z8,0).
However, I need it to display absolutely nothing in the cells, rather than a
zero because it alters future calculations.

Here is a question about the chart in excel. I have a sort of data where only part of the data is in numbers, and when drawing the chart, the whole range of data were selected. Then on the chart, there is a line drop to the x- array, anyone knows how to get rid of it? It is a line chart. Here's an example if i did not clearly describe the problem
Here's data
X Y
4354.28
5354.75
6352
7343.82
8aa
9aa
10aa
11aa
12aa
and between 7 and 8 on x, the line will drop from 343.82 to 0, and i don't want this part, i want the chart to show to 7 and leave the 8 to 12 blank..

if it is possible to prevent a listbox from showing blank cells.
I have selected a big range and many of the cells are blank. The reason is that I want the listbox to update automatically when I add a value to any of the blank cells.
Using the methods suggested by the posters here I was able to solve my problem. I had to modify my source data somewhat but it was well worth it.

I am linking multiple workbooks together - the problem I am facing is that the cells that do not have any data inside the source workbook result in a "0" on the destination workbook. Currently I am using the paste link option. Here is the purpose of my workbooks. the "core" document will have multiple worksheets each pulling its data from single worksheet workbooks. These workbooks will contain current project status and will fluxuate in length.

I have a summary worksheet consisting of columns that are referenced to other sheets within the same workbook.
If the cell in the 'referring' (original) sheet is blank then the forumula returns a zero instead of a blank in my summary worksheet, which is messing up some other calculations.
Is there a way to make these cells truly blank, or possibly into string variables instead, so that they do not interfere with my calculations?

I’m trying to resolve this issue and would appreciate some help.
Scenario
I have a tracking sheet that tracks development of work to be completed by individuals.
I have a due date column that shows when the work should be completed.
Once the work has been completed, the user enters his completion date.
I have a formula that provides an overdue warning (Completion date – today’s date) and some conditional formatting.
Problem
When I copy the formula through all the cells in the column I get a number (example 39504) and this changes everyday.
How can I eliminate this being shown as it throws out my average development day calculation?

When I drag my VLOOKUP formula down a column in Excel 2010, the return value copies the formula result from the original VLOOKUP formula result. For example, if the first VLOOKUP returns a value of 0.5, I expect to see 0.5 or 1 in the cell below that one. However, I get 0.5 which is not the expected result for the cell below.
When, I click the fx on the cells below, the expected return values appear in the formula result. After I click OK, the expected formula results updates and now appears in the cell.
I'm not sure what is causing this issue. My computer was updated recently from an old machine to a new one. I have never experienced this issue before.

I have a workbook which contains a master document sheet and 14 worksheets with various if(and or vlookup statements to extract the data as we need it at our centre.
I wasn't able to sort the data alphabetically with iferror leave cell black, so I changed it to if error "zz". I am now having to sort 14 sheets A-Z every time I make a change to my workbook...very time consuming and frustrating. I'm looking for a way to not have to sort my worksheets, to have it done automatically or is there a way to skip rows if the data doesn't match the formula? I don't have any experience in Macros
I have removed a lot of the pages from my workbook example. The sheet that I am trying to skip rows is the 'Dolphin Chn' one. Data is coming from the other sheets. I have used conditional formatting to make ZZ entries white, so they won't be visible.

I use a variance sheet to see the difference in numbers between an actual and planned date
If a planned date is not entered - the calculation must calculate from the start of the year because the figures are like this:
38948
Is there a way of saying in the formula, if both parts of calculation are not present, leave blank or something
For example this formula =IF(C31 > B31, 1, -1)*DATEDIF(MIN(B31:C31),MAX(B31:C31),"D")
It has a planned date and no actual so it puts like a 5 digit number in the variance cell!
