Chart Omitting Blank Cells & Zeros

Feb 21, 2008

Here is a question about the chart in excel. I have a sort of data where only part of the data is in numbers, and when drawing the chart, the whole range of data were selected. Then on the chart, there is a line drop to the x- array, anyone knows how to get rid of it? It is a line chart. Here's an example if i did not clearly describe the problem

Here's data
X Y
4354.28
5354.75
6352
7343.82
8aa
9aa
10aa
11aa
12aa

and between 7 and 8 on x, the line will drop from 343.82 to 0, and i don't want this part, i want the chart to show to 7 and leave the 8 to 12 blank..

Omitting Blank Cells

Oct 26, 2009

Formula does not take into account blank cells, and when I attempt to turn it into a percentage, it becomes greater than 100% if there is a blank cell.

Formula is as follows:

=SUMPRODUCT(('All Data sheet '!D$13:IV$13>=Print!$E$3)*('All Data sheet '!D$13:IV$13<=Print!$E$4)*('All Data sheet '!D14:IV14='All Data sheet '!$D$3))/SUMPRODUCT(('All Data sheet '!D$13:IV$13>=Print!$E$3)*('All Data sheet '!D$13:IV$13<=Print!$E$4))

While Copying Among Worksheets, Zeros Are Omitting

Aug 13, 2008

I am trying to copy data from one worksheet to another. The problem is that it doesnt copy zeros across eg. for value 00125, it will copy only 125.
Can anybody tell me how to pick zeros as well.
Also at the moment i have added code to match just one column. How can i attach another criteria to match for 2 column value?

Set xlRng = xlSheet.Range("A13:A44")

Set rngFound = xlRng.Cells.Find(what:=ActiveSheet.Cells(rwNumber, 1).Value, LookIn:=xlValues, lookat:=xlWhole)

Average Omitting Blanks / Zeros

Feb 12, 2008

I have run into a problem with the array formula. After inserting formula with the CTRL+SHFT+Enter it is giving me the same sum to the 3 cells that I had array formulas in but trying to capture different data from what was in the capturing column. Example:

If row F consists of text types: Move-in, Mid Year, and Year End as potential options, and row G is the score for that text type(cells will consist percentages), give me the average of all the cells in row G that are specific to Move-In only, but don't include the blanks in the average.

My existing formula isn't designated to exclude the blanks. how to exclude blanks and how to get it to stop giving me the same result in the three separate cells. My current formula is as such: {=AVERAGE(IF(F2:F73=E76, H2:H73))}

Omitting Data From A Chart Automatically

Mar 14, 2008

I'm currently building a excel workbook with charts that are feeding from Countif formulas, from a incident reporting sheet, now some of these items have "0" values and as a result are piling up making the charts look unsightly.

I know if I hide the rows with that data in them, it won't show up on the chart, the only problem is that this workbook will be going to about 8 countries, so I want this to be automated, is there any way for those 0 values to be excluded.

I have no experience with VBA, and only a little with macros

Ignore Blank Cells Zeros And Error Cells From MIN Function?

Oct 24, 2013

I have a spreadsheet for which I have to set up a formula to get the minimum value from a range of cells, but that range can include blank cells, errors (#DIV/0) and zeros, all of which I want to be ignored. I can work out how to ignore EITHER the zeros

(=MIN(IF(C10:G100,C10:G10)),

or the error cells

(=MIN(IF(ISNUMBER(C9:G9),C9:G9)),

How to exclude both. If I try to combine both of these exclusion criteria it doesn't work and I end up with the answer #DIV/0, which is one of the values I want it to ignore.

Suppress Zeros In A Pivot Table (search Out Any Zeros And Replace With A Blank Cell)

Oct 12, 2009

with the data in the attached sheet, I create several different pivot tables that need show the count of the information in the columns M:DU. My issue is that the data is sent to me from a third party and the columns contain zeros that cause the counts to inflate.

What I would like to be able to do is run a macro that will search out any zeros in M:DU and replace them with a blank cell.

Unfortunately the number of rows increases with every monthly reporting cycle so the macro would need to be able to accommodate for that.

Referenced Cells Returning Zeros: Can These Be Made Blank Or String Data?

Aug 30, 2007

I have a summary worksheet consisting of columns that are referenced to other sheets within the same workbook.

If the cell in the 'referring' (original) sheet is blank then the forumula returns a zero instead of a blank in my summary worksheet, which is messing up some other calculations.

Is there a way to make these cells truly blank, or possibly into string variables instead, so that they do not interfere with my calculations?

Don't Plot Blank Cells In Bar Chart

I am trying to set up a bar chart that will not plot values where I have left the cell blank so that I don't have to keep resizing the source data / sorting the data whenever I add more data.

I have tried putting NA() as the value as you would for scatter plots
I have also tried leaving the category cell blank

Neither of these seem to work. I have attached an example.

Skip Blank Cells In Chart Data

I have a column of data that I want to display as a chart. However, there are some blank cells in the column. When I use a simple line chart, the chart drops the line all the way down to zero for the blank cells. If the blank cell is B4 in column B, is it possible to make excel ignore that cell and connect B3 and B5 with a straight line?

Hide Zeros On Pivot Chart

I have a PivotTable linked to a Bar Chart. (see attached JPG for example)
I do not want the 0% values to show in the chart at all but I do want to see all of the other percentages. I have been able to hide these values in the PivotTable itself by Conditional Formatting or custom number formats but they still show up in the chart!? how I can get the 0% values to be hidden or not show on the charts at all? I don't want to have to do this manually for every 0% that shows because the data changes daily dynamically. A VBA or Macro solution would be preferred.

Zeros Not Showing, The Result Is A Blank Cell

Aug 8, 2007

When i put a "0" in a currency formatted cell, the result is a blank cell. If i put any other number in there other than "0" it shows a dollar amount of that value (even .00001 works). I have also noticed that before i put a zero in that cell, i can go to the format of that cell, select currency, and i see a sample in the sample box ($0.00). But if i go to that cell, put a "0" in it and return to the format of the cell, the sample box is now blank and it doesn't even show a $ sign. I know the "0" is in the cell because i can see it in the formula bar. But on the sheet itself it does not display it.

Return Values Of Adjacent Cells When Condition Is True Omitting Values Where Condition Is False?

Jan 15, 2014

Here's a simplified example:

ColA
ColB
ColC

Row1
A
Y
A

Row2
B
N
D

[Code] .........

I'm looking to return the values in column A adjacent to the cells in Column B equal to "Y". The kicker has been returning only the cells where the condition is true. Column C displays the desired behavior.

The closest I've been able to get is with a simple IF statement but I'm pretty sure the answer is a far cry away from there and likely requires an array formula. I'd prefer not to use VLOOKUP or OFFSET but will if the alternative is very complex.

Imaginary Zeros In Formulas Vs. Real Zeros

Nov 7, 2009

I’ve created a formula for this statistic and I’m happy with the results. Because I’m working with formulas, my only problem is the unwanted zeros. How do I hide zeros that show up automatically (i.e. #3 [blank] and Nov 09-June 10)? I can hide the numbers, but if I enter a zero to one of my future statistics it will not appear and I don’t want that to happen. Is there a way to hide those automatic zeros without affecting my real zeros?

Hide Zeros In Cells

Nov 28, 2007

I am basically making a sheet that counts attendance, everytime an X is placed in a particular cell another cell counts that x. So if there are 25 x’s in one row, another cell will automatically add those x’s to show 25. That isn’t my problem. My Problem is the cell that contains the countif formula that adds the x’s are all 0 if there is no data for it to add. I want to make it blank because right now I have a whole bunch of 0’s going down one column and can’t figure how to get rid of it.
Right now I am using: =COUNTIF(C20:X20,"x"). I normally would take the time to research and look through your forums however I do not have the time at the moment and was hoping for a fast answer.

2 0 should equal: 2:0 my current result: 1:0
3 0 should equal: 3:0 my current result: 1:0
0 1 should equal: 0:1 works OK
0 0 should equal: Nil works OK
