Calculate A 24 Hour Cycle Time Which Excludes Weekends And Public Holidays
Mar 16, 2009
I would like to find out if a job took more than 24 hour cycle time (eg. 6:00 am to 5:59:59 AM next day). data:
A1 = received date & time (format "m/d/yyyy h:mm")
B1 = completed date & time (format "m/d/yyyy h:mm")
my formula is '=if(B1-A1>"24:00"+0,"Yes","No"). The problem with the formula is that it doesnt exclude weekends nor public holidays. I couldnt formulate a solution using networkdays function......

I've been reading up on Excel's date and time functions and can't really figure out the best way of doing this.
I have a total amount of time that a machine should take to finish a task. I'd like to enter a date and time into a cell (Start Date) and have another cell return the date and time that the machine should be done with the task excluding weekends, and holidays (End Date). This would be based on a certain number of "working hours" (hours in the workday minus break periods) that would be calculated in another cell.

I am trying to calculate downtime for a Service Level Agreement.
The data that I have is the start date/time and the resolved date/time for an incident.
The data are in the format - 1/1/2008 03:32 AM. The incidents may occur at any time but downtime is calculated only business hours and excludes weekends. I may be required to exclude holidays but that is not a hard requirement right now. What I must be able to specify are the working hours.
As example(s)
- if an incident is generated on 1/2/2008 4:00 PM and resolved at 1/3/2008 11:00 AM then the downtime is 4 hours.
- if an incident is generated on 1/12/2008 4:00 PM (which is a Sat) and resolved at 1/14/2008 11:00 AM (which is Monday) then the downtime is 3 hours.
The above assumes working hours are 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM.
I have tried using the NETWORKDAYS and WORKDAY functions with little success.

I'm using excel 2010 on a pc. I need to create a calender. So far I have been using the tutorial for the pop up calender. The result I'm looking for is to set up a specific time frame and have the calender provide the "due" date. I would like the due date to exclude weekends and holidays. Would I be able to do this with the pop up calender?

I am in need of Back-Dating in order to make payments, I am generating dates for me to deposit the payments in a Bank/Finacial Institution/Lender, however the dates generated need to be "X" days in advance if they fall on any Holidays or Week-Offs..
Now, there could be one or more Week-Offs for some Banks/Finacial Institutions/Lenders and not necessarily a Saturday and Sunday..so preferably it should be dynamic...
There would also be some Public Holidays on which the Bank would be closed ...

I need to determine a formula which will allow me to calculate a future date based upon a current date with varying time periods.
For example:
I have a bill which is paid on the 15th and last business day of each month. I would like to be able to see the next due date regardless of what day of the week it is.
I have a bill which is paid every other Tuesday. I would like to know the next due date without having to enter +14 for every due date in the future. In other words, it is preferable to be able to open the spreadsheet and automatically see the next due date, not use autofill to repeatedly add +14 to a previous date which would limit the # of future due dates that could be calculated.
I have a bill which is paid on the last business day of each month, not the last Friday of each month. I would need excel to return a value for the last day of the month which = Monday-Friday, regardless of what day of the week it may be as long as it isn't Saturday or Sunday(holiday exclusion would be nice but not required).

I am generating a spreadsheet that focuses on a target opening date. There is about 12 other headings along the top all stating the different phases of construction, permitting, etc. I need to exclude weekends and holidays from most of these columns, and only exclude holidays from about 2 of the columns. I think I am to use the formula for NETWORKDAYS, but not sure how or where to incorporate it.

Time arithmetic, I have two cells representing a time range.
The first one (say: X1) is formatted using the custom format [h]:mm and contains a certain number of hours and minutes. It gets its value by summing up other cells in the same format. A typical entry could be 98:35 to represent a duration 98 hours and 35 minutes.
The second cell (say: X2) is formatted as a number with 4 decimal places after the comma, and similarily gets its value by summing up other cells in the same format. It also represents a time duration as a number of hours. A typical entry could be 202.7500 to represent a duration of 202 hours and 45 minutes (because 0.75 of an hour is 45 minutes).
I would like to calculate the hour difference between these cells, and display it as hours and minutes. In the example given, the result should be negative, i.e. -104:10.
My first approach was to use the formula X1-X2 and format the result as [h]:mm, but this gives me a #VALUE! error.

I have been asked to create a worksheet to calculate the percentage of the utilisation of a number of loan cars per month. Each of the cars may be used on each and every day of the week but the percentage utilisation is to be calculated on working days only. However it is essential to record the name of the driver of the car at weekends and holidays. Column A is populated with the dates of the month. Colum B is populated with the relative days of the week. In column C and subsequent columns I record the name of the driver of a particular car registration. Is there any way that I can count the number of drivers of each car on working days only and not weekends or bank holidays?

I have a schedule of holiday dates through year 2010 off to the side in cells N8-S18 that a workable formula could refer to.
........C...................D..................... ......E.........
1......1............10/25/2005...........10/26/2005
2......2............10/27/2005...........10/29/2005
3......0............10/29/2005...........10/29/2005
4......3............10/29/2005...........11/01/2005
Column C is the duration of the project in days. Column D is the project start date. Column E is the project end date.
As example, in D4 I'm using the formula =IF(C3=0,E3+0,E3+1). I need to include something to make it ignore weekends & holidays.
I don't have much experience in multiple conditions - I tried some things & made a decent mess of it.

I have a report that starts with a desired date and generates dates backwards on when certain releases should come out. I would like the code to see the date, move it back a week, check to make sure it's not a weekend or holiday, then post it in the cell below. If it does happen to land on a weekend, it should then be the Friday before the weekend. If it is a holiday, it should be the date before the holiday, as long as it is not a Sunday (or another holiday).
Attached is the workbook that I'm using. I'm starting with the desired date 'B7' and using the Holidays in a seperate worksheet. I know that in the current example, nothing will land on the weekend, unless the holiday pushes it back to one.

I am trying to figure out a way to count the minutes used from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. I have this years worth of data. I would like to do it by month and by week and by day. I use office 08 for the mac and its my understanding that it doesn't have VBA. I would also like to be able to figure out if on a certain date a employee made over x amount of phone calls in a day. But have several employees. I have columns that are labeled date, employee, minutes used.

I am using this formula to calculate a set of PH(Public Holidays) that have passed from a period of 1/4/2009 to 31/3/2010.
=IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D5,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D6,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D7,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D8,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D9,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D10,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D11,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!D12,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!H2,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!H3,1.5,0)+IF(TODAY()>='Team Schedule'!H4,1.5,0)-4.5
From what u can see here, its a massive formula.... but I am pretty sure that there is a shorter way to key in the formula
*Note*
'Team Schedule'!D5-D12 and 'Team Schedule'!H2-H4 are PH. disregard the 4.5 that is in the formula as it is used for other purposes. Every PH that has passed will credit a 1.5 into the cell.

I have created a daily schedule which has a number of factory variables taken into consideration which determine the date and time a particular product should, barring any mechanical problems, come off the machine. (see attached spreadsheet).
The date at the top will be editable by me only so that when I update the production quantities, the “date/time off” column automatically re-adjusts to the remaining quantities.
The formulas are a little long winded, but I have left them that way whilst I try and develop it. I should be able to figure out how to condense them later.
My problem is that the “date/time off” on the right works excellent, but over a 24 hr period.
Ordinarily, we work a 12 hour day (6am to 6pm) with overlapping shifts to cover breaks, and 20 mins warm up at the start of the day for the machine, thus maximising a 12 hour day.
Of course if demand exceeds the allotted time we put on overtime.
Is it possible to specify that normal days are only 12 hours so that if a product exceeds 6pm, it flows into the next day with the balance starting at 6:20am?
And, if the production for the week exceeds the time could I stipulate particular days which we deem are suitable for overtime? Ie, we decide Wednesday is a 14 hour day and not 12.
I had toyed with the idea of creating a 365 day table/calendar, on another worksheet which would have its individual allocated hours in an adjacent column and somehow link them to the date/time off, perhaps by way of a VLOOKUP, but I have been chasing my tail trying to figure out how to implement it.

today's date 09/16/2009
formula result = 10/01/2009 ; or if 10/01/2009 is a Sunday, result = 09/29/2009 (not 02/01/2009, 03/01/2009, etc)
=edate gives me a month but it doesn't skip weekends or calculate beyond today's date
