Changed Security Setting On Excel Sheet Now Can't Find It
Aug 13, 2012
Iv changed the security settings to my name (along with admin) and removed 'everyone'.now when i go into my folder, everyone else's excel sheet is there but mine has gone.
On sheet 2 is all of the information and tables etc.. for example prices and information for the combo boxes an such...i need to protect this sheet so no one can change anything on it
the problem is when i do so, and go back onto sheet 1 and say tick a checkbox or select something from the combo box is doesnt allow me to, the protection message comes up
i dont want this to come up on sheet 1, only on sheet 2!
i think its because i have links between the pages? like all of the info for the combo box is on sheet 2
I am using excel 2007 to open files with macros embedded. Most of the time, I would receive the security notice in the ribbon but sometimes the notice would appear as a prompt as with excel 2003.
How can I set it up so I would always have the prompt instead of the message in the ribbon. The reason is that with the one in the ribbon, new users to 2007 often fail to activate the macro for the the file to work properly. With the prompt, users have to either enable or disable the macro to view the file.
I have a workbook which i really want to protect. I don't want any formulas to be seen and tampered with.
Simply hiding/locking cells and protecting the sheet is not secure enough. within minutes of googling crack password, i was able to find a macro that unlocks the sheet.
Is there something out there that can really secure your workbook. I found something called XLS Padlock [URL].... seems great.
is it possible through vba code to determine the macro security level of Excel 2007 and inform the user. I tried the code below , it is executed when the workbook is opened, but it doesn't work. The code below is executed only when the macro security level is "Low". My goal is at least to inform , with a msgbox function, to change manually the security level.
Code:
Dim secAutomation As MsoAutomationSecurity Dim zLevel As String secAutomation = Application.AutomationSecurity Select Case secAutomation
I'm trying to find out if there is a way to call the security alert to enable a macro. Let me explain...I was working on a sheet with a macro that I hadn't enabled yet. After working for awhile the option to enable it was gone and I found that I had to close the fine and re-open to enable the macro. I'm wondering if there is a ribbon or short cut icon to put in my access toolbar that will give me the option to enable/disable the macro. Seems strange that in 2003 I could to this, but in 2007 I have to close the file.
I open a spreadsheet or workbook that has links to other workbooks I am notified by the message bar that content has been blocked. I click Options > Enable this content > OK. Even if I don't make any changes I'm prompted to save changes when I close the file. If I hit Yes or if I hit No, I will still be prompted to enable content in the message bar the next time I open the same file.
I have changed the External Content settings in the Trust Center to "Enable all data connections (not recommended)" and "Enable automatic update for all workbook links (not recommended)" but I still get the messages.
My Message Bar is set to "Show the message bar in all applications when content is blocked" because I read on Microsoft KB that the other option of "never show information about blocked content" will still block the content, just not tell you about it, which doesn't fix my issue.
The files I'm opening and the files linked to and from them are all on the same shared drive on a file server in the office. Is there a way to tell Office '07 that our file drive is a trusted source by default?
Can you protect a sheet name from being changed by a user?
Can you protect a sheet from being deleted by a user?
I have an Excel 2003 file available to all employees on a network. There are three sheets. Two sheets are protected with passwords and users can not enter any data on them. They are used to hold data needed by the third sheet.
The third sheet (named FORM) is for user input. FORM has a majority of the cells protected with a password. Users can enter information, save the file, print the sheet, or make duplicates of the sheet. The sheet contains data validations, conditional formatting, and formulas.
I have some VBA which acts on all the sheets (even those which users might have inserted) making them visible (very hidden) or not. When a user opens the file (whether for the first time or after adding sheets), I always want them to have FORM unhidden. I have VBA to do this but what if a user changes the name of the sheet? CRASH!
I would like to create a macro that will automatically change the name of the sheet any time a value is entered into cell a1. For example, in cell A1 of sheet1 I would input "Hello", and then the tab for sheet1 would be automatically renamed to "Hello".
Here's the twist - the workbook will have multiple sheets, and I want all tabs to reflect the value of a specific cell (a1) in each sheet.
For example:
value in sheet1, cell a1 = "Yes" - corresponding tab name would change to "Yes" value in sheet2, cell a1 = "No" - corresponding tab name would change to "No" value in sheet3, cell a1 = "Maybe" - corresponding tab name would change to "Maybe" etc...
The "tab change" cell would always be cell a1 in each sheet.
I am trying to create some code that will work each time a cell is updated. For simplicity, when cell A1 on Sheet 1 is greater than or equal to 25,000, I want Sheet 2 and 3 to be shown (they will already have been hidden). When A1 on Sheet 1 changes to less that 25,000, I want only Sheet 4 and 5 to be shown. I want to be able to change the number back and forth in A1 so only Sheets 2 and 3 show when A1 is >= 25,000, and only Sheets 3 and 4 to be shown then A1 < 25,000. I can't seem to find how to hide sheets based on a cell changing. I can only find how to permanently hide sheets.
I received an email with a WORDPERFECT attachment. I couldn't open so I downloaded application (COREL)from Internet. I finally got to read my WORDPERFECT file but found out that COREL had changed all my EXCEL files to WORDPERFECT. How do I change them back to EXCEL flies?
I currently have a spreadsheet with the following. I would like to convert the GL Date to just pick up the month. I have tried =mid(cell,4,2) but because this is a excel date it will not pick up 01 as the excel number for this date is 410001
I have a sheet that will not let me use macros. I can record them, but when I go to use them it says that the Macro security level is too high. I change it to Medium or Low but it doesn't make a difference.
The same spreadsheet works with Macros on another computer, but not my main one.
In the spreadsheet attached, i have a formula now() which will update the current time in column B if i select opted from column A and similarly in column D the current time will get updated when i select option in column C.
However when i first select the option in column B the current time gets updated but after a while if i select the option in column C the time in the column B is also getting changed.
May be there is a different formula, Not sure what is the trick ?
I have an the excel book with sheets that are password protected so that the users cannot delete rows or columns.
In each sheet I gave permissions for certain ranges that need to be filled out only to specific users that need to fill out those cells.
The users are located and managed in the Active Directory.
The point is that each user can only update his/her sheet within the Excel book.
It was working for a day or two and then all of a sudden without any changes all the permissions were gone and every user was able to edit every sheet.
When I combine 3 reports (which we get out of a system) into 1 big file, the date format remains the same (mm/dd/yyyy and right alligned). Same happens for most of my colleagues.
When 1 particular colleague goes and combine these reports, I've noticed that some of the dates are showing as text? (dd/mm/yyyy and left alligned).
I am trying to set up an holiday card on excel which I have the template for but I need an email sent to me, the manager, each time it is updated by my staff requesting Annual Leave. Each member of staff will have a program each.
This is my basic setup, each piece of equipment will have more than one routine to be performed:
Equipment Type Make Model Serial Location
To Be Performed Frequency Last Performed Performed By Next Due Date R1
[Code] ..........
I want to track changes on "Last Performed" and "Performed By" and, if changed, copy both values to a separate "log" sheet. In total, there could be up to 10 routines for each peice of equipment. That means I would need to track 20 columns for changes. I would like this check to be done on save because that ensures that the user is satisfied with their changes and keeps the log from being flooded. And lastly, it needs stored in the log sheet in a way that I can identify which piece of equipment it was for and which routine was done.
I have a sheet called "Richard" and i wish to assign a button so that when i click it, it goes straight to it.
I know how to make a button and assign the macro but i just need the code. So would be very grateful if somebody could help me with this or point me in the right direction.
I have a lot of formulas that I don't want to be changed or deleted, but I still want the user to be able to enter data into the cells.
If I use "Protect sheet" I can't select a cell or enter something into it. I sure there is some setting I have to change, but I'm not sure what to select.
I have a form that will be populated with different numbers of records. I need the records to be locked, but the remaining rows (if the user needs to add new records) to be unlocked. Can I use some sort of range.end function for this?
We have 3 PCs, all running MS Office 2013. On 1 of these machines, it is doing strange things with formatting. If you open a document or try to paste anything into certain documents, it decides everything is currency format and assigns all sorts of wrong formatting to the entire sheet, or the entire document. There may be some cells in the doc that are indeed currency, but only a small proprtion. If I open a new, fresh document and paste into that document, it does not do this, it seems to work normally, only applying currency formatting where it might be applicable. On some larger docs that have this issue, no matter what I do, it just continues to apply these strange settings.
