Check For Presence Of Cell Color
Jun 17, 2008I want to create some code that checks all the cells in a row to find if any cell has a background color and if it finds any colored cell, to then set the first column of that row to that color.
I want to create some code that checks all the cells in a row to find if any cell has a background color and if it finds any colored cell, to then set the first column of that row to that color.
I have 3 columns, C1, C2, C3. I have to return a value for the following conditions
1. Check for the presence of a particular text in the C 1 (duplicate values can be present)
2. Check for the maximum value in C2, if the second for the particular text from the first column (duplicate values can be present)
3. If the text is found, I need to return the Maximum value from column 3. Else I need to return 0.
My formula has been returning zero despite the fact that I have a larger valid value in column C3.
The formula(s) I have been running is
1. IF((AND(C1 = "E", Max(C2))), (C3),0)
2. IF((AND(C1 = "E", Max(C2))),MAX (C3),0) (In case of duplicated in C3)
3. IF((AND(C1 = "E", Max(C2))),MAXA(C3),0)
If I have a named range ("colors") which contains a bunch of different colors, and in a separate cell, I want to test whether a particular color is present in that range, how would I do that? For example:
Red
Green
Blue
=if([range contains "yellow"],1,0)
this formula would return 0.
=if([range contains "green"],1,0)
this formula would return 1.
I'm having trouble with the part in []'s.
I want Excel VBA to check for named worksheets. Based on the return, I will have VBA either (1) delete the named worksheets and replace them or (2) refresh the pivot tables on the named worksheet. how to make VBA check for the presence of the named worksheets. My efforts are below and comments at the end of the Sub detail what I want to have happen.
Sub EnterProgram()
Dim Current_P As String, New_P As String
Current_P = Range("data!C2")
If Current_P = "" Then
New_P = InputBox("Which program?")
Do While New_P = ""
Prog = InputBox("Try again... Which program?")
Loop
Range("data!C2") = New_P
ElseIf Current_P = New_P Then
If MsgBox("Use the current program (yes or no)?", vbYesNo) = vbYes Then
Range("data!C2") = New_P
End If........................................
Is it possible to have a formula check the color index of a cell?
Example if A1 color index = 6 then X
I have these two subs in my thisworkbook module.
They do not want to work together.
Is there a way to incorporate the two of them?
T
he first 1 just checks to see if a cell is greater than 0 and colors the Tab green.
The first 1 is this:
Private Sub Workbook_SheetActivate(ByVal Sh As Object)
Dim ShArr As Variant
Dim RunMacro As Boolean
Dim sCounter As Integer
Looking forward VBA coding for:
If input is entered into column C (range C2:C100), then row cells for columns D, E ,F, H or I must NOT be blank upon save.
Could be that one or more of these row cells are left blank by mistake.
An error msg pops up upon attempting to save, stops the save and colors each cell yellow that needs info entered into.
Using Excel 2010.
I want to use "If" function to check "color" :
If (Color is yellow,sum(a1:B5),sum(d1:d8))
I am trying to apply a conditional format to an entire row based on the presence of any value in the first cell of that row to format to a certain color. If there isn't something present in the first cell, I don't want it to change.
Everything I keep trying ends up highlighting the entire workbook.
I would like to apply the rule to the entire sheet but only have it highlight the rows which have a value/text in the first cell of each row.
I am assuming I should use the formulas selection for conditional formatting but I'm unsure of what formula would apply to this type of request.
Is there a way I can make my check box change color when it's checked? I'd like to have it uncolored and then turn green when checked. Not the cell, but the checkbox itself. I can't seem to make the check box part of the cell, if that would be an easier route to go please let me know. If I have to turn the cell green and not the check box, I'd love for the whole row to turn green.

Column Y-has Y, N entered in cells
Column R-has 1,2, etc... entered in cells (some cells have color index 26)
Column O-has 1, 2, etc... entered in cells (some cells have color index 3)
Column G-has names entered entered in cells (some cells have color index 38)
I need the macro to check if Column Y has a "N" and then if it does check Column R, O, G and if there is no color index in any of the Columns the macro will delete the row.
If Column Y has a "N" but Column R, O, G has a color index it will not delete the row.
There are 3000 rows on the spreadsheet and the macro would need to go through all the rows.
I am looking for a formula to return either True/False in Column J if the font color in Column H is Red.
Is there a formula that can do this?
I have data in Row 53 that spans 7 columns, but stays in the same row. I want to design a loop to select every 7th cell in that row and check if it is empty. If not, add onto a "counter" then display the final number of occupied cells (the value of the counter) at the end. This is what I have so far, but I get all sorts of errors.
Code:
Sub Tester()

Set WS = WB.Sheets(BM18)
[Code] ......
Summary of performance of various products against target is as follows,
Product vs Target
Color Code
Result
CH4OH
Green
1.0
[Code] ........
I need the final result automated as follows,
If 2 green of the 4 products, then final result Gree
If 2 Amber of the 4 products, then final result amber
If 2 Red of the 4 products, final result Red
Is there a way to automate this?
I am trying to use VBA in Excel 2007 to change bar chart series colors. I have found a few posts that link it to a cell background, but I'm struggling to find one that does the font color.
It would be great if I could change the bar chart series to match the color of the text in the A column, so that if I highlighted the value in A1 and changed the text color to orange for whatever reason, the chart updates the value of 1.2 to an orange bar (see below).
T. A1 B1
Sample 1 1.2
Sample 2 2.1
Sample 3 1.7
Sample 4 5.6
I have a range of cells that change colors with conditional formats based on the cell value from high to low. I would like to link the cell color to an object such as a circle or rectangle. When the cell value changes along with the conditional format, the color of the object will also change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have got a userform with lots of controls,
One of the action's on a large group of the controls is the same but except for one number
here is an example
If TextBox107.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell. Offset(0, 53).Font.ColorIndex = 3
If TextBox108.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 54).Font.ColorIndex = 3
If TextBox109.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 55).Font.ColorIndex = 3
This makes a cell that correlates to the textbox red if the text in the textbox is red.
Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.
Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?
I'm trying to add a textbox at the current position (selected cell) with a set size, fill color, and border color. I found this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...8(VS.80).aspx:

I have assembled code which changes the cell color based on a value change in Column A. Column A will contain many different groups of repeating values. This code works well and and I have been able to figure out how to limit the number of colors to only 2. The end result is each set of similar values in column A is visually grouped by one of two alternating colors.
The number rows in the data set is variable as the data set is extracted from SAP. The number of columns is fixed.
What I want to do now is set the cell color in columns B through F the same color that was assigned to the row in column A. So if cell A3 is set to colorindex = 6, then I want to set the range of cells B3 to E3 to the same color.
Here is the code I am using to set the color of the cells in Column A:
I would like to be able to change the color of a cell in V4:AB31 and have the formula in AM10:AM13 automatically calculate the new result. As it is now the user has to press Ctrl ALT f9 for the formula to recalculate.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two columns. The first one (A) contains cells that have different Fill colors. The second column (B) contains text adjacent to the colored cells. I am trying to change the color of the text in the second column (B) to the corresponding color in the adjacent cell in the first column (A). I don't think conditional formating works well in this situation. I believe the solution would be some sort of macro.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have font color white in blank cells in column E and I (from row 5 to row 245) so the visitors will not see the text. If any of these cells become yellow (color code is 6), the font color will become black so visitors can see the text alot far better than white. I've tried this code myself after this post but nothing happen

I am looking for a very simple script that will achieve the following:
On the clicking of a button, Select and shade in a cell yellow, delete the yellow shading of the previous cell. The shading & selection should move up a column of cells, 1 at a time, in the following order:
From B10 to B9, then B9 to B8, B8 to B7 etc until the selection and shading is at B2. Once it is at B2 subsequent clicks will simply keep it at B2 (the top). Thus after 8 clicks the shading & selection should travel from B10 to B2, with only 1 cell being shaded yellow and selected at any one time.
I've reached a problem with colors in Excel: need to convert cell color (get from .Interior.ColorIndex property) into RGB value (to set ForeColor of the button). How can I make it?

the macro will look at the value I entered in cell A1, then find all instances of it in Column A
in every row that A1 matches, if the value in column E is "0", I need the macro to change the value in column E of that row from "0" to (that row's column B * $B$1)
