Count Number Of Clusters / Groups Of Given Number Occurs In Column

Mar 2, 2012

I have data in a column (G) consisting of zero and ones. I would like to count the number of clusters of the number 1 in the data. For example in the data below there are 8 ones. But instead, I need to calculate how many groups of 1s occur. So in the case below the group of 1s = 3.

In terms of what defines a group. Whenever there is a zero either before or after the occurance of a 1 constitues a group, i.e the groups are broken out by zeros.

Automatic Break When Executing Code

Mar 29, 2005

I have finaly completed my project to include all the bells and whistle needed to make an ok task a bit more exciting. However, i am having a problem when the code is executing. It seems to "break" at random points in the process. I am not able to duplicate this error at my home (nor do i want to) and I can not quite figure out what is causing this as it only happens at my work computer. I have tried my coworkers computer and the code executes flawlessly like at my home.

Strangely enough, when the code breaks I am able to hit 'continue' and it continues on its way until the next hiccup. Please assist as this fluke is causing my brain to spiral.

VBA Code - Summing Groups Of Numbers

Jul 17, 2014

Product Group Arg.Braz.Mex.Peru
Red paint Paint5324
Blue paintPaint5684
WallpaperWallpaper6585
LampsFurniture 4631
ChairsFurniture 1645
Green paintPaint1356
SofasFurniture 3358

SUM(Paint,Argentina)SUM(Paint,Brazil)SUM(Paint,Mexico)SUM(Paint,Peru)
SUM(Wallpaper,Argentina)SUM(Wallpaper,Brazil)SUM(Wallpaper,Mexico)SUM(Wallpaper,Peru)
SUM(Furniture,Argentina)SUM(Furniture,Brazil)SUM(Furniture,Mexico)SUM(Furniture,Peru)

I am trying to work out VBA code or another way in Excel to find a solution for this problem - I need to be able to sum up the values that I have posted below - so for SUM(Paint,Argentina), this would be the sum of the red paint, blue paint and green paint values under the Argentina heading, that are all categorised into the 'Paint' group. The same follows for all the other categories. I was trying to use 'Defined Names' to group the categories together, and so would then do =Sum(Paint). However this was not allowing me to sum by each country, and the 'Create from Selection' naming tool was not naming all of the values for Paint (blue paint, red paint, etc.) under the paint category.

This is an incredibly simplified version of the data I am actually dealing with - I am doing this for 70 country columns and 250 rows of product categories.

I have two groups of data? I selected the cells in yellow and defined the name of those cells as group1. I want to be to do absolute value of individual cells and add them up. I tried pressing shift control and enter and it still isn't giving me a number. I can do it if the numbers are next to each other but if they are separated by a row it won't let me.

Break Up Inventory Number Into Three Parts

Aug 16, 2007

I am having some difficulty with a macro. I have a column that contains a series of inventory numbers. I need to break it up into three parts and then have each part put into a new column. Here is an example of the data:

Column B = list of inv no.’s such as “ABC123.45” I need to divide it into three parts and put each part into a new column … so a new column X would get the “ABC” part, a new column Y would get the “123” section, and a new column Z would get the “45” ** ( I don’t need the decimal between 123 and 45) .

Transpose Automatically And Number Groups

Sep 14, 2009

1) I need to transpose about 2000 rows of 1 to 7 columns (A to G) of text/letter combinations of 1 to 5 characters into one column, each row under a group name (groups have one to three rows, so there's about 900 groups). The group name is in a row by itself, members are in the 1, 2, or 3 rows right underneath it. 2) Then I need to number the groups. There are no absolute common letter or number combinations within a group, so I can't use the first, mid, or last 2 or 3 characters to signify a common group. I do know how to use the copy and transpose feature, but would like to automate, if possible since there's so many. And automate the numbering task as well.

An example of the data is:

ABEGF
AMMBG AMNBG ANBG1 ANBG2 BEFGL BEFG1 BEFG2
FG1 FG2 GH1 GH2 GH3

Add This Number To The Start Time, Factor In Break Minutes And Get To The Projected Completion Time

Mar 3, 2009

I am trying to provide a tool for department leaders to monitor productivity for order processing in their departments. The variables I have are: Number of orders(variable), number of pickers (variable), start time(variable). Then, I know each order takes 1 picker 4 minutes to pick on average, and there are 45 minutes worth of breaks during the picking process. So after entering the variables I used =(((C3*4)/60)/D3) to come up with the time needed to process the orders. What I can't get to is how to add this number to the start time, factor in break minutes and get to the projected completion time. I have Excel 2003 at work. Clearly I need to take a class!

BAM90000

As you can see the left code is for 10000 numbers higher. the letters are allways the same. In the event that this isn't so, if difference between codes in same row is more or less than 10000 numbers. I was thinking on making conditional formating so the cells with wrong difference would be marked red, but I do not know how to make formula for this difference.

VBA Code To Check That Invoice Number Has Not Already Been Used

Nov 2, 2011

I use a userform to make sales data entries into a database. The userform contains textboxes for:

Invoice No.Invoice DateGrossVatNet The Invoice No. is the first entry box on the userform and it is important that users enter the correct format (which is alphanumeric).

It is also important that a checking is carried out to ensure that the Invoice Number being entered has not already been used.

I use the following code to ensure that the numbers are entered in the desired format:

Code:
Private Sub txtInv_Exit(ByVal Cancel As MSForms.ReturnBoolean)
If txtInv.Value = vbNullString Then Exit Sub
If (Not UCase(Me.txtInv.Value) Like "ST###") And (Not UCase(Me.txtInv.Value) Like "ST####") Then
MsgBox "Non Valid Invoice Number.â€
Cancel = True
End If
End Sub

And this code is pasted lower down the VB editor window. And it seems to be working fine!

For the checking to ensure that the invoice number being typed into the textbox has not already been used, I use the following two codes combined together:

a) to check for invoice No.:

Code:
check for Invoice Number

If Trim(Me.txtInv.Value) = "" Then
Me.txtInv.SetFocus
MsgBox "Please Enter Invoice No."
Exit Sub
End If

b) And to it I add the following additional code for CHECKING that the no. does not already exist in the database (the invoice nos are located in Column A of the database):

Code:
Dim x
X= Application.Match(Me.txtInv.Value, Columns(1),0)
If Not IsError(x) Then
MsgBox Me.txtInv.Value & "Invoice Number Is Already Used"
Me.txtInv.SetFocus
Cancel = True
Exit Sub
End If

My problem with the second set of codes in (a) & (b) (for the Checking of already existing No.) is that the code allows the user to key in the Invoice No. and go through filling in the other textboxes. It is only after clicking the ‘Add’ button that a msgbox comes up to indicate that the ‘invoice no. is already used’.

I need a tweaking of the codes so that the moment an invoice no. that has already been used is typed into the textbox and the TAB button pressed, a msgbox will show up at that stage to indicate that the ‘Invoice no. is already used’. This will reduce time and avoid filling in the other textboxes and clicking the ‘Add’ button before the checking is done.

Code To Create Customer Number

Dec 14, 2007

I have the following formula copied down from A3 to A200 in a spreadsheet, which creates a unique standardized customer number for the each names listed in B3 to B200:

=IF(B3="","","S"&LEFT(B3,1)&"-"&TEXT(SUMPRODUCT(--(LEFT($B$3:B3,1)=LEFT(B3,1)))*10,"0000"))

Therefore, with the following names listed in B3 to B10:

UPS
FedEx
Fisher Price
Bell Canada
Grand & Toy
Rogers Cable
Dominion
Blue Jays

The respective customer numbers would be:

SU-0010
SF-0010
SF-0020
SB-0010
SG-0010
SR-0010
SD-0010
SB-0020

I would like these numbers to be static, so I would appreciate it very much if someone can give me a VBA code to replace the formula.

Code To Generate 'date' Ref Number

Apr 24, 2008

each time a button is clicked I want a new ref number to be produced and displayed on my userform.
I can't however create the code to generate this ref number.

In column A of my 'sweeplog' worksheet is where I want the ref number to be placed. This ref number is simply made up of today's date - in format ddmmyy eg 240408 for today 24th April 2008 then add the number '1' if its a new date or the next number in coulumn A if not.

for example In column A I have these 3 ref numbers
A2 = 2404081 (24th April 2008 plus 1 as this is the first ref used today)
A3 = 2404082 (as above but with 2 added)
A4 = 2404083 (as above but with 3 added)

now tomorrow the next ref number that would be shown in column A (after the user clicks the button) would be as follows.....

A5 = 2505081 (25th April 2008 plus 1 as this is first ref used on 25th)

I am able to get this unique ref number to show in my userform but can't figure out how to produce the code to generate it
