In the attached file I have the data which shows me the market size in value, my market share in value & I did a calculation to get the percentage. What I need is a chart that shows me the market size in column graph, my market share in line graph and I want the percentages to be showing also.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to overlay a line chart on top of a stacked column chart. The stacked column chart is a chart where the x axis is dates and the y axis is amount. The line chart is a projected amount that I will reach in few years; the x axis is the date while the y axis is an amount. I can get a chart that has a line and stacked columns, but ever time, the dates get messed up. The line has an extremely wide date range while the columns only have about a month of data.

E.g.
Subject line: Win 20% open, 23 % Click to Open, Getaway 20$ Open, 21% CTO etc., to include an industry average for open and CTO in the chart.

I am looking for a creative way to display a pie chart within a data point marker of a line chart.
My database has 3 value columns, Type1, Type2 and the Total (Type1 + Type2)
these are recorded per day (Date, in Column A)
I have a line chart that displays the total by date, but I want to find a way to display the percentage split of a particular day by type.
I was thinking to load the chart image into the Data point marker, but i don't think that is the best way as the data is updated daily and I would have to do it each day for a few line charts.
The other way I was thinking about was to have a generic Pie chat in the Line chart (Maybe in a corner) and the pie would update depending on way date series was selected or Mouseover'd)
the way that I am approaching it at the movement (Not the best way and by far not the coolest way. Is to have a list of all the dates in a column next to the Line chart and using some VBA, what ever date is selected in the column the pie chart displays the corresponding data. But eh challenge is that when there is alot of dates, I am going to be scrolling up and down.
I am using Excel 2010, but I cant not use the slicer's as the other users do not have 2010, they have 2007.
I have created a population pyramid and want to add another chart on the secondary axis which I can do. The part which I seem not to be able to complete is getting the line chart secondary axis to read from the primary y axis. It seems to add a new axis, even when I delete this the line chart does not read correctly.

I have a numerical X-axis with values such as 0,1,5,8,14, etc. I have another set of Y values that correspond to the X values. If this was an XY-scatter plot I'd be able to plot X vs. Y and connect the dots for "gaps" in the X values. Since it's a pivot chart I cannot use an XY-scatter plot, I can only use a line chart. The line chart doesn't give me the ability to add the "missing" values, so it gives the impression that my data is more closely packed than it is. The data source is external to my spreadsheet, so I cannot add the values before creating the pivot table/chart.

The spreadsheet of the data contains data for Jan 2005 - Jan 2008 so far, but only the current month with the past 11 months should display in the line chart depending on what is the current month.
I have a pareto chart(Bar & Cumulative Line Chart) that I would like to have the line orginate at x = 0 & y = 0 without changing the position of the other points on the line chart.
Basically this is for better visual appearance. When I add a 0 to the table, it skews the alignment of the line chart with the corresponding bar chart.
Attached is the sample data worksheet. Chart 1 is XY type chart using Seconds (2nd column of sample sheet as x-axis from 42510 to 42530). How do I change it to Line chart using Time (1st column of sample sheet as the X-axis) retaining same data from 42510 to 42530 on both primary and secondary axis?. And how do I again change it back to XY chart?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a data series plotted as columns. Then I want a horizontal line at $5,000 to appear all the way across the chart. It appears from the 1st to the last data point, but there is blank space before the first point and after the last point. I would like the red line to extend into this blank space before and after, so that it is going across the entire chart.
I tried playing around with different axis settings and no luck.
Here's a sample of a chart that I want; However, I want the bar chart to be a stack chart as I have multiple "Failure modes" per month that I want to show the number(or count) of failures per month. Then I want the line chart to remain the Complaint Rate for that month.

I can create a column chart in excel comparing sales in 06 v's 07 for each month in 07, what I'm aiming to show on the chart is how sales have grown or not over a comparative period. A simple enough graph, I end up with about 24 columns (2 for each month and then a gap between each month).
I now want a line chart to show the performance of an index over the same time period, lets say the FTSE100.
I don't know how to get the line chart under the columns on the same graph, using the same x-axis with a small y-axis to the left. I could propably figure out the y-axis bit if I could only get the line chart below the columns.
I would like to be able to add a line (a trend line) to a clustered column chart. The attached jpg (picture copied from Excel Charts - Easy Excel Tutorial) shows the general structure, with the red (poorly) hand drawn lines representing what I want to add to the chart.
If using Excel's Trend line functionality is not an option, I have already calculated the trend points adequately, so have the data to add as an additional series or combine with an existing series. (using Excel 2010)
Im plotting data on a Line-Column 2 Axes Chart which works really well with 4 data series (2 column, 2 Line) but when adding a fifth data series, the fourth disappears from view. I can see its still there cos I can display the values but I cant get the line to appear. The values for the 5th series are also similar to other series values so its not like the chart cant display it....are there limits to the number of series on such a chart?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to graph the following data in an area chart with line charts superimposed on the area chart. I have a lot of data (and a lot going on) so I'm trying to figure out the best way to show this in excel from a functional standpoing (i can't get this to work in excel!!) to also an asthetic standpoint (dont want it to look terrible or illegible). This is what I'm trying to chart:
1) Weather data (temperature) by region:
So one region, would be: Northwest
I would like the "area" (so a shaded region) to be the min/max of the temperature data for each month.
2) I would like to show the temperature for each year as a line graph on the chart - so you can see if a year falls in or out of the shaded region.
3) I would like to show a company's sales increases across the same months per year as separate line charts. I may choose to just show the biggest outlier year in the end... or to show 2006 (the latest data).
What I am trying to convery with the chart is that the company's sales is or is not tied to weather deviations. I have attached an excel file with the data. I haven't been able to use the area chart or get a two axis chart to work or get it to look even remotely professional.
I want to show 8 members of staff's names, with their sales closing percentages. I want then to produce a chart showing their percentages as a column with a line showing 16% going across the chart showing who is above and who is below the target.
Ideally i would also like to change the colour of the columns or background of those below the line to show who is under target.
I have several line graphs produced in excel. The X axis represents time (but is actually is just a 'general' number) and the Y Axis is a number .
The Y Axis generally varies from -10 to +10. I want to work out the percentage of time where the graph is in + and -.
If it makes it easier to know, the data will always change by +1,-1,+0.25,-0.25 or 0.
If this is possible i would then like to have a formula/or however it is possilbe, to work out +,- and neutral (0).
I have also attached a graph for a viewable example.
This is so simple, yet Excel doesn't give the correct value. So, here you go, I only have 2 Cells and 2 Labels. One Label for one Number and the other Label for the other Number.
For the Pie Chart I chose Cells:
Cell B36 with the number $54288
Cell B39 with the number $166113
By simply viewing this one can see one of the Percentages should be around 33% and the other 66%. However, Excel gives it a Percentage of 25% and 75%.
How can I get the correct values?
If I simply publish the pivot chart, the correct percent values are displayed on the y-axis. However, when I publish it with the interactivty option, the percent values are wrong. For example, the actual value is supposed to be 13.7% but graph shows 46496000.00%. The other oddity is that the table published in interactive mode has the correct values.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIm looking to create a bar chart in Excel 2010 where the totalnumber of widgets is 33 and the number produced so far is 11. The bar chart would be a single bar that represents the percentage complete (33%) with the chart maximum range being 100% which would represent the number 38.
Ive included a mock up example of what the data and chart would look like
when you open up the file please ignore everything above the blue bar. That was the old data which was arranged wrong. I have actually figured a lot of this out but i am stuck. The graph is set up so when you click on the drop down menu (F26) it changes the graph to the relevant data. Now the bottom graph is currently graphing the Months Expense1 as a total of all Expense1. So January Expense1 was $100 so its 26% of all Expense1. and when you click on the drop down button you can changed the data to Expense2 and the graph changes. YAY ok thats cool. However, thats not what i want. I want the pie chart to be graphing the expenses as a percentage of total Expenses. So the drop down menu would be of the months instead of the expenses.
I have changed that with relative ease, but I cant get the data to graph how i want it to.
I have been using OFFSET() formula and the define name manager to set up the previous graph. You can easily look at the formulas i have used instead of me trying to explain everything. Please help. This is the test bed for a budgeting spread sheet I am working on.
if you can help me out that would be great.. Please try not to use Macros because i dont understand them all that well and I need to take what is done in this spreadsheet and learn from it and change it so it works when are thre 10 expenses.
I had created a pivot table and pivot chart for the data, the pivot table shows the row label's as percentages which is correct, but it when comes to the pivot chart it shows it as decimal, for example a 10% shows 0.1, I tried of formatting the x axis and choose percentages but it doesn't want to change.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI currently have a thermometer chart in Excel 2013 that I set up with percentages along the Y-Axis. The thermometers are showing spending based on a budgeted number. Currently, the project is over-budget so I have adjusted the thermometer scale to go far beyond 100%.
I would like to have the percentages past 100% show in red along the lefthand side.
I realize all the numeric data was originally not in percentage format (a simple division without being multiplied by 100). So when I set the vertical axis to percantage format, it does display it as a percentage but with the "%" sign. Is there any way I could get rid of the sign? It's not necessary as the axis has already been titled accordingly. I'd hate to redo all calculations, multiply by 100 and then create new charts only to get rid of the sign...

basically i want time in secs on x axis starting a 0 upto 4.4 secs
I have created some charts for my work and one of them is a line chart that spreads across one year with values for each month. Well they want the graph to always show one month ahead of where we are out. So there is actuals in for Sep. but then the line graph drops all the way to 0 for Oct. I don't want to have the graph bottom out when there is a zero. Does anyone know how to fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHi, as you can see in this chart I am plotting TOTAL company sales against its three merchandise components - men's, women's, and accessories. My issue is that when I had two rows to just show company sales against one of the merchandise categories -- and I Go TO TRENDLINE and show the R-Squared, it is ALWAYS THE SAME= 20%. CLEARLY, something is wrong beacuse (a) its different numbers for each of the three merchandise categories and (b) these three categories make up the total comp so CLEARLY it should be a higher R-squared than 20%. How Can I get it to properly read the R-Square.
