I have two columns of card numbers (16 digits) in text format, as column A and column B. In column C, I'm trying to figure out how to compare column A and B for matches, and display the match in column C, if there is a hit.

I need to compare any word within a cell in the short list, against any word within a cell in the long list.
The returned value needs to display both the short list item, as well as the long list item for manual comparison by an analyst.
Essentially what I want to automate is a check through one list on the Sheets("Notes") in column A, with another column B on Sheets(template). If there is a match I want to insert a part of the row that the match occurred on Sheet("Notes"), and insert it above the row where the match occurred on Sheets(template).
Here is my code so far, currently I keep getting a "Application-defined or object defined error" on the line

i have one work sheet. Column A contains 800 names bolumn B contains 15,000 names.
I need to compare column A to column B then if the name exists displat the names in a seperate column.
I've tried searching for an answer all over with out success. Here's my dilemma. I've got two columns (A and B) with over 1000 entries in each column with computer names. Most of the names are the same however some differ in the way that they might be in column A and not in column B and vice versa. What I would like to achieve is to compare those two columns and display the result in column C and D but keep the names of the in the retrospective column.
What I mean by that is that if a name was found in A but not in B I would like to have it displayed in column D and vice versa. If a name is found in B but not in A, to have it displayed in column C. If there is an easier of doing this, please by all means (i.e. highlight the name in A if missing in B and vice versa).
I have a formula that I can't get to paste successfully in the forum - it keeps getting cut off?!? ... but I think I can probably simplify my explanation to get the answer I want anyway.
I need to only show the value from AUS!$H$2:$H$17 if the C2 & D2 combination are the same as the AUS!$B$2:AUS!$B$17 & $AUS!$C$2:AUS!$C$17 combination.
I have data exported as .txt from an external program in the following format:
Sample Name Marker Allele1 Allele 2 ....Allele n
AAA D8S1358 10 11 XX
AAA D16S539 16 19 XX
and so on.
Each "Sample Name" will have 16 different "Marker"s and upto 10 different "Allele" at each "Marker". There could be upwords of 200 Sample Names on each exported sheet. Is there a simple way to compare all of the data from each "Sample Name" to each other and possibly to another sample set that will always be static but of the sample general makup as this?
I have two tables. Table A has 13 columns and 641 rows. Table B is in a different tab within my excel file but is only one column with 216 rows. Starting with Table A I need it to look up for the value in Table B. If the the value is matched, meaning they appear in both tables, I want the cell highlighted in Table A.

The second is a list of those employees who have submitted their monthly report. In theory every record should be a match. I need to compare the lists and mark the people who are missing their monthly report in the main list of all employees.

Sheet 1: Column A - All employees names, Columns B-M: used to show whether a report has been submitted.

I need Sheet 1 to show either all of the missing records across all the months or it can show the ones that have been received. Either will work.
On a worksheet named Season Results, I have a list of venues in column A, and a list of dates in column B
I then have worksheets named with all the venue names.

K so basically i have a cell where based on the above formulas it displays a number.
What i want it to do is only display a number if it matches one of the numbers in the 9 cells above it. so for example

I'm trying to compare 2 worksheets with the same headers(NAME, ADDRESS, CONTACT NO...). What codes should I use that when there is a duplicated row in worksheet A and worksheet B, it will be deleted and when there are 2 names with different addresses and/or contact no, the whole row in file A will be obtained. Output should also be in another worksheet. It goes like this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have many small spreadsheets of data organised into 4 columns and anything upto 250 rows. I want to be able to test if all the cells along each row have the same data in each of the 4 cells, so 4 occurences of the same thing. Each row of data will be different. (I'm not intertested in matching the data going down the column).
However, I won't know with each spreadsheet what is the exact data I will be looking for - if all 4 cells don't have the same data, that is fine as this will then require my manual attention which is the purpose of my project.
I just want to avoid having to check through lots of rows of data where all the data does already match.
The data will usually be text but it can be IP addresses and numbers too. I need a formula or set of operators to use for is exercise.
1) if Column M has the value "School" then corresponding value in column N should have oly "Bus","Subject","Teacher". if values in Column B other than "Bus","Subject","Teacher" then the cell should populate RED Color.
2) if Column M has the value "College" then corresponding value in column N should have oly "Box","Madam","World". if values in Column B other than "Box","Madam","World" then the cell should populate RED Color.

Is it possible to have sheet2 have ... oh I dont know... say 5 columns. In which I can choose the headers that correspond to the headers in sheet1. Therefore comparing the columns that I want simply by changing the header?
What I'm attempting to do is analyze data on spread sheet. I've attached an example. what I need to do is compare columns "E" and "I". But I have numerous means of comparing the data. I think I will need three different formulas which is okay and am unsure if VBA is better. For example: I compare "E2" and "I2"...ect:
1) I would need to compare complete cell
2) I would need to compare the first three digits
3) I would need to compare the middle digits
If you towards the end you can see that some will compare to a BLANK cell if column "E" is ever blank. I first tried using countif but couldn't get it done. I only need totals that do not match in this category.i.e. 25 of 140 do not match.

I've been searching for a method to compare two large columns of numbers and remove replicates from the "main" column. Column A has all the numbers that are in column B and many more. I want to remove all the numbers from column A that are in column B. The result being two columns with no matching numbers. (or a third column that has only the numbers from 'A' that are not in 'B').
My search results on this forum have found results that compare rows for matches & can make deletions; and also one method that could mark all the entries that were duplicates in both columns, but nothing to remove them. The datasets I am using have over 400k entries in some columns, so manual removal of marked ones is not feasible. I need an automatic deletion method.
I have a macro that I am working on which I have gotten stuck on. It compares Column A and Column C and any numbers which match are pasted into Column D.
What I am getting stuck with is I need to copy and paste the data for column B to Column E as well. So in other words.
If column A and B match then the number from Column A that matches B will be pasted in column D along with the value that is right next to it in Column B.

I want to compare two columns (from two different files, but copied into a new sheet) for duplicates or identical entries. But here's the trick, each entry contains atleast a number of digits. I'm not quite sure how to find items that may be 80% identical (in the right order, but might be messing a digit, or there is a dash or a 'o' instead of a '0'). I know how to do it in C++ or Java, but not quite sure how to do it in VBA/macro. Here's an example of what I meant. Let's say column one has the following:
0244-34
9393-O0
3932-44
and second column has
939300
493384
938923
If I was comparing second column to first column, it can pick up the 9393-O0 one because it's close enough to 939300.
I know there is a forumla to compare a small database to a list, but can't find it (I used to use French Excel).
Here is an example :
In a sheet, my small database :
(in two different cells)
Value1 and ValueA
Value2 and ValueB
Value3 and ValueC
etc...
In another sheet, my list :
I have a list where there's a lot of Value1, Value2... in one column, and in the next column, a lot of ValueA, ValueB....
I want to check in my list : if I have Value1, then, on the same row (next column) I have ValueA, if I have Value2, then, I should have in the same row (next column) ValueB....
And if I have Value1 and in the same row (next colum) ValueB, I want some kind of "Error" text.
Can't find this function nor (of course) the criteria to use it correctly.
I have two columns, one with the target text (D:D) and one with text I want to compare it too (A:A). If the text in column (D:D) matches the one in (A:A), I want to return the value in (B:B). I attached a sample of the problem i'm dealing with.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have currently browsed the forums and have came up with a code to compare two columns from two separate excel books and then highlight anything matching with the CompareRange. Here is a few more details about the problem:
- I have two excel sheets. And data like this in each sheet:

As you can see, given this example nothing should be highlighted once the macro is run since nothing from Column A or B from the first sheet matches directly with Column N & O from the second sheet. The problem is that with the macro (module) I have come up with will highlight "3" from Column A and ".2" from Column B, just because they appear in Column N & Column O respectivally. What I want: I only want a number to be highlighted if both the numbers "7" & ".7" are matched in the same row of Column N & Column O on the other spreadsheet. To be a little more precise, I'll give an example. Say I edited the data to be like this.
(First Sheet) (Second Sheet)

7 .7 3 .56
8 .45 8 .45
5 .5 9 .55
11 .4 11 .2

2 .2 9 .55

With this data, I would want the second row of A & B ("8" & ".45") highlighted, while my error "3" of Column A and ".2" of Column B is not highlighted. Also, I would like it if row 4 of Column A & B ("11" & ".4") is not highlighted at all either, just because in O it is .2 and in B it would be .4 even though the 11's match. Attached is the macro/module I have entered in which is working kind of correctly but producing the mistake. And also, (kind of a lesser problem), both the files with data will have the same header, example would be if Column A & Column N both had "Dogs" as it's title in Row 1 and Column B & O both had "Cats" as it's title in Row 1. Is there anyway the macro can be adjusted so it compares those two columns between the two workbooks without me even having to select or assigning a range?

I have column A which contains a range of part numbers, and column B is an On Hand quantity of that part number.
Column C is just like column A, in that it contains the same part numbers but it has about 1,000 additional part numbers that are obsolete. Column D has the On Hand quantity for Column C.
Column A and B are old information as far as the On Hand quantities, where Column C and D are up to date On Hand. The problem is the old outdated part numbers in column C.
How do I make column A and column C match, but not lose their respective On Hand quantities? I know this sounds discombobulated, but basically I need column A's part numbers, with column D's on hand quantity.
I'm trying to compare addresses in a worksheet, column A and column C have the addresses in them, in column A there are 44063 rows and column C has 43751 rows , both columns should have the same number of rows in each column because they should have the same number of addresses in each column but they dont so what i need to find out is which addresses from column A arent in column C and which addresses in column C arent in Column A and have the result put in column D.
