Concatenated IF And FIND Formula Returns Only First Condition And Not The Other

Aug 6, 2014

I have a list of skills listed as codes in column A. I would like to write in a separate column, B, the name of the skill based on the fact that A contains a specific text. Only the first condition return a correct value, the others condition returns #VALUE! as if they are not satisfied.

Array Formula To Find Offset Value Based On Certain Condition?

May 8, 2014

I have three columns of Data. A is vehicle number, B is miles and C is a Date. I want to be able to pull the miles for the newest date when the user types in a bus number next to the formula. I think It can be done with an array formula but I am not 100% sure on how to do it. Also is it possible if they enter a vehicle number and a date that a different formula finds the miles for the most recent date to the date entered.

Formula To Find And Substitute A Word In Text If Condition Met

Aug 18, 2014

In cell A1, I have three possible text strings: (1) "change/s: changed the color green to red", (2) "change/s: changed the color from green to red, changed the size from big to small", or (3) "changed the color from red to green".

I need a formula that will look at a text string, and if there is a comma in the string, it finds the word "change/s" and substitutes it with "changes", if it finds no comma, it substitutes the word "change/s" to "change", and if the word "change/s" is not in the text string at all, it leaves that text string unchanged.

Returns Items Matching Condition

Jul 24, 2007

I am trying to have an order form auto populate information, however I have run into a small problem when doing so. I am unable to use VBA because it is locked by whoever originally created the spreadsheet so I need a formula solution if possible. I would like for the worksheet "Order Form" to auto populate the type of printer cartridge when there is a 0 in the column "On Hand" on the "List" worksheet. I know a loop could do the trick but I was wondering if maybe a vlookup or if statements could get the job done. Here is a completed sample of what I would like to happen.

Convert Concatenated Text To Formula

Feb 4, 2010

I have a formula that I create using concatenate and I get the right formula as below:

Cell B63
="=MATCH(B61,A"&N(1+B)&":A50,FALSE)"

The result comes like this:
=MATCH(B61,A9:A50,FALSE)

I would like to use this as a formula, however I cant figure this out
=Indirect(B63)
give me a #REF error.

VBA Formula Results In Concatenated Numbers

Apr 24, 2014

I need to show sum and not concatenated values have a userform w 60 fields for numbers as follows:

a) UserForm1.TextBox34 to UserForm1.TextBox41: 8 fields-CAD currency
b) UserForm1.TextBox42 to UserForm1.TextBox49: 8 fields-USD currency
c) UserForm1.TextBox50 to UserForm1.TextBox57: 8 fields-exchange rate
d) UserForm1.TextBox58 to UserForm1.TextBox65: 8 fields-Total CAD currency => the formula here works across the board
UserForm1.TextBox58.value = Format(UserForm1.TextBox34.value+UserForm1.TextBox42.value*UserForm1.TextBox50.value, "###,##0.00")
e) UserForm1.TextBox66 to UserForm1.TextBox73: 8 fields-local taxes in CAD currency
f) UserForm1.TextBox74 to UserForm1.TextBox81: 8 fields-federal taxes in CAD currency
g) UserForm1.TextBox82 to UserForm1.TextBox89: 8 fields-total for first column in CAD => the formulas here works as well across the board
UserForm1.TextBox82.value = Format(UserForm1.TextBox34.value + UserForm1.TextBox42.value * UserForm1.TextBox50.value + UserForm1.TextBox66.value + UserForm1.TextBox74.value, "###,##0.00")

have a grand total formula pulling in all values, and this one works as well; so i have 4 simple addition formulas, and the local & fed tax formulas do not.

however, the formulas for the sub-total for the local taxes and the federal taxes do not work; the results show a concatenation of the 8 values rather thn the sum of the 8 values; the formula for the local tax is as follows:
UserForm1.TextBox110.Value = Format(UserForm1.TextBox66.Value + UserForm1.TextBox67.Value + UserForm1.TextBox68.Value + UserForm1.TextBox69.Value + UserForm1.TextBox70.Value + UserForm1.TextBox71.Value + UserForm1.TextBox72.Value + UserForm1.TextBox73.Value, "0.00")

I have rewritten the formulas and still these two tax formulas result in concatenated numbers rather than the sum.

I would have u/l worksheet but it's roughly 4MB now.

Reference Different Concatenated Range Names In A LOOKUP Formula

Apr 2, 2009

I want to create a series of VLOOKUP commands with different lookup tables whose names are concatenated from two different pieces. Here's what I'm trying to do:

VLOOKUP(x,LUTWK01,y,false)
VLOOKUP(x,LUTWK02,y,false)
VLOOKUP(x,LUTWK03,y,false)

LUTWK01, etc., are named ranges. I have the text "WK01", "WK02", "WK03" stored in other places, and would like to be able to concatenate "LUT" and the particular week (e.g., "WK01"). The formula that I've created, which isn't working is:

VLOOKUP(x,CONCATENATE("LUT",A1),y, false) where cell A1=WK01.

When I pull out just the CONCATENATE portion, it resolves to LUTWK01, but apparently this is not recognized as a range name. Any idea as to how I make the VLOOKUP formula recognize a concatenated range name? Or is there a better way to do this?

Find, Meet Condition, Sum Range, Deduce, Find Next

Sep 23, 2007

i have spent 40 hours, and still didn't find a solution. Please help is need it!!
example:
i have to find all articles with same code (222). first one has Q =100 second one Q=250.
soled Q=150
(i am talking about 5000 rows, 400 different or same articles per month- 12 months)

columnA-----columnB---columnC
222 ----------100---------0
111-----------50
333-----------70
222----------200---------200
333---------- and so on
first i have to deduct from the first one it finds (max. till 0 ...it can not be negative) ....after finding another one it deducts the rest---it means 50
Is there any kind of formula with this possibility.
if it is poorly writen please let me know for more info.
i am not an expert in excell, but i have tried variations of sumif, vlookup functions, but i always get stuck deducting the whole Quantity from all of the same (222) articles .

5/8 heater hose will not

Basically what I am making is something I am calling a "what" button. It queries my database and returns all the part numbers with the term i put in and i thought it was working fine till i was testing it, did i do something to select this? I've tried xlpart and xl whole. Neither is working.

Here is the code below

Sub COPYPARTNUMBERINFO()Dim parttofind As String
Dim partcell As Range
Dim partref As Range
ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password:="*******"
Range("t6:T10000:u6:U10000").Select

FIND Returns Previous Data

Mar 17, 2009

This code (partial) was written to interrogate a database. Cell "A2" of another tab contains a Part Number to be sought.

Target = Range("A2")
Sheets("Kanban Data").Select
Dim Nrow As Range
Dim N As Integer
On Error Resume Next
With Sheets("Kanban Data")
Set Nrow = .Columns(2).Find(What:=Target, After:=.Cells(3, 2), LookIn:=xlValues, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False)

If the Find expression (as pulled down from the Edit menu) is empty, then inserting a Part Number in A2 and executing the macro finds the correct record and returns the its correct row number (N, as defined afterwards in the code). Then, changing the Part Number in cell A2 and executing a new search returns the SAME row as the previous search, despite Target being equal to the new sought after value.

Find Replace To Insert Carriage Returns

Jun 30, 2013

I'm working with a document that has several cells which require double carriage returns within cells. The location of each space is marked with an @ sign. A few weeks ago, I found an article online that explained how to do a find replace where the find value was '@' and the replace value was a series of numbers/characters that created a carriage return. When I doubled the carriage return code I got my two spaces. If I remember correctly, the string that I entered still appeared in the cell, so I needed to clean up afterwards by replacing that string with ' ', but it still left the line break.

What I would like to do is compute the returns on similar maturities and paste the returns in the returns column. I can use a formula for this when the consecutive maturities are the same. The problem arises when I want excel to find the previous similar maturity, which may be 5 cells or so before. Formula Returns #NAME?

Nov 5, 2006

I have always used unique ways to randomly make selections in my life, and was thrilled to learn that Excel could pick a name(not just a number) from a list. I've used the =INDEX($A:$A,RANDBETWEEN(1, COUNTA($A:$A)),1) function and entered items into Column A (or another if needed, and updated by trial and error accordingly). It worked very well for me for a long time and then stopped working. In multiple documents, with multiple lists (not connecting to each other), all of a sudden every random item started giving the #NAME error.

Vlookup Formula Only Returns Ref# Or N/A

I changed the format to text for the data I using and the data I looking in to see if that would fix the ref# or N/a error.

Is the formatting one possible issue?

I am slow to vlookup but I used the formula as

1. the lookup value is the serial #

2. the table_array is the entire worksheet that I am searching in - or should I just use the column that hold the values I am looking for?

3. the column_index_num is ??

4. [range_lookup] is FALSE.

Formula Returns Two Digits Value

Jan 3, 2008

I have a formula that looks like this:

=IF(ISERROR((C101/G119)*G104)," ",((C101/G119)*G104))

There are about 15 cells with formulas similar to this. They are calculating a value for a row and at the end all of them should add up should equal C101.

The problem is the value that formula returns has to be two digits and I know it almost never is. But it ALWAYS equils C101. However because it only shows two digits somtimes if you manulally add up the value that you see it does not its off by +/-.01.

I need to fix it so that it does equal C101 AND if you were to add up the digits (with 2 decimal places) it will also equil C101.

For some reason it is returning #VALUE! in some cells. I think its something to do with the last part of the formula where it is bold.

The formula as you can see looks at data and matches relevant data to return specific depending on what has been matched. Now at the end it is matching the correct data and return that value however i want to divide the value by another (another value*4.33).
